  • A neuro-fuzzy based torque profile model of SRM with considerably improved accuracy is obtained using the measured data for training. The inferred torque profiles, which comprise magnetic non-linearities, represent the dynamic model of SRM. Then the reference torque signal with optimized waveform and switching angle are decided to control the torque directly. Hence, the presented scheme controls the torque in an instantaneous basis, allowing powerful torque control with minimum torque ripple even during the transient operation of the motor. Simulation and experimental results demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed torque control scheme are presented.

  • In this paper, we analyze the result of the conduced emission and susceptibility tests performed on the KOMPSAT-I ETB Platform. The ETB platform consists of the EM (Engineering Model) boxes developed to perform the electrical functional test. During the conducted emission test, we measured the instant waveform in time domain when each switch was turn on, and spectrum of the noise in the frequency range of 10 Hz up to100 MHz fur the steady state of the ETB. During the conducted susceptibility test, no malfunction and no serious damage of the electronic box were observed when a simulated noise waveform was applied to the DC power bus. The simulated waveform was obtained by adding the 6 dB-system margin to the worst case waveform measured from the conducted emission. This test was performed as co-development of the KOMPSAT-I with TRW in USA.

  • For application to micro fluid control systems such as ${\mu}TAS$ (Micro Total Analysis Systems) and DDS (Drug Delivery Systems), it is very significant to handle precise and minute flow rates with low pressure pulsation. In this study, a novel valveless piezoelectric pump using peristaltic motion with three disk type PZT actuators is presented. The newly devised pump with an effective size of $70mm{\times}60mm{\times}55mm$ has three actuator layers connected in series from inlet to outlet. The PZT actuator has a maximum displacement of 240 ${\mu}m$ and a maximum force of 1.6 N. When the driving voltage for PZT actuators is sequentially applied with a certain phase shift, the pumping is performed by peristaltic motion of liquid volume. The working fluid is shut off without the driving voltage. Three methods for sequential driving are proposed and experimentally investigated. First and second methods utilize an intermittent sinusoidal waveform with phase shift of $90{\circ}\;and\;120^{\circ}$, respectively. Third method uses a rectangular waveform with phase shift of $90^{\circ}$. A controller with multi-phase shifter is designed and fabricated. Then, frequency and voltage-flow rate characteristics and load pressure-flow rate characteristics are experimentally investigated to verify the validity of the developed pump.

  • The pear psylla, Cacopsylla pyricola, is a very small sap-feeding insect of many commercial pear varieties that could be considered the most serious insect pest of pear. Detailed information on plant penetration activities of the pear psylla is essential to study its feeding behavior used to evaluate resistant traits to chemical control. The application of the electrical penetration graph technique (EPG) could provide a relevant insight into the nature of this resistance. EPG waveforms of C. pyricola were characterized on the basis of amplitude, frequency, voltage level, and electrical origin. Feeding behaviors of C. pyricola were recorded and analyzed by EPG analysis. During EPG monitoring, waveform PA occurred at the start of stylet penetration of pear leaf epidermal cell. Waveform PB followed, in which stylet secreted saliva was observed. Waveforms PC1 and PC2 involved penetrating and sucking behaviors in parenchyma cells and vascular parenchyma, respectively. In addition, waveform PC1 represented salivation into bundle sheath cells and ingestion from parenchyma. Otherwise, behaviors of salivation into phloem and ingestion from phloem produced waveforms PE1 and PE2, respectively. On the other hand, ingestion from xylem tissues showed waveform PG. Among the feeding patterns of C. pyricola described above, phloem feeding patterns occurred most frequently, followed by xylem feeding and parenchyma penetration patterns in descending order.

  • In a MPC coding using excitation source of voiced and unvoiced, it would be a distortion of speech waveform in case of increasing or decreasing of speech signal amplitude in a frame. This is caused by normalization of synthesis speech signal in the process of restoration the multi-pulses of representation section. To solve this problem, this paper present a method of amplitude compensation(AC-MPC) in a multi-pulses each pitch interval in order to reduce distortion of speech waveform. I was confirmed that the method can be synthesized close to the original speech waveform. And I evaluate the MPC and AC-MPC using amplitude compensation method. As a result, SNRseg of AC-MPC was improved 0.7dB for female voice and 0.7dB for male voice respectively. Compared to the MPC, SNRseg of AC-MPC has been improved that I was able to control the distortion of the speech waveform finally. And so, I expect to be able to this method for cellular phone and smart phone using excitation source of low bit rate.

  • In this paper, the method to design the antenna, which is suitable for an impulse-like waveform radiation, is presented. In general, the impulse-like waveform has its spectrum of around sub GHz bandwidth and the antenna should be properly designed for not only operating wide-bandwidth also reflecting the time domain characteristics for near-zone impulse radar applications. In this regard, Vivaldi antenna has been designed and characterized in terms of short-pulse radiating aspects in the time domain and verified by measured results. The designed antenna has shown to be operating within wide-bandwidth and to be stable for the input impedance from 1.8 to more than 10GHz. The far-zone radiating waveform has been investigated on each plane at the interval of 30degree and the designed antenna has shown to be a directive characteristic. It can be seen that those results proposed are widely applicable to the near area sensing applications such as ground-penetrating radar.

  • A new digital clock level translator has been designed in order to produce a clock source of the internal logic circuits. The translator output has 50% duty ratio from small sinusoidal input such as TCXO which oscillates itself in poratable components. The circuit consists of positive and negative comparators, RS latch, charge pump, and reference vol- tage generator. It detects pulse width of the output waveform and feedbacks the control signal to the input com-parator. It detects pulse width of the output waveform and feedbacks the control signal to the input com-parator reference, producing output waveform with valid 50% duty ratio of the digital signal level. The designed level translator can be used as a sampling clock source of ADC, PLL and the colck source of the clock synthesizer. The circuit wasdesigned in a 0.8.mu.m analog CMOS technology with double metal, double poly, and BSIM3 circuit simulation model. From our experimental results, a stable operating characteristics of 50 +3% duty ratio was obtained from the sinusoidal input wave of 370 mV.

  • The various blood pressure simulators have been proposed to evaluate and improve the performance of the automatic sphygmomanometer. These have some problems such as the deviation of the actual blood pressure waveform, limitation in the blood pressure condition of the simulator, or difficulty in displaying the blood flow. An improved simulator using disturbance observer is proposed to supplement the current problems of the blood pressure simulator. The proposed simulator has an artificial arm model capable of feeding appropriate fluids that can generate the blood pressure waveform to evaluate the automatic sphygmomanometer. A controller was designed and thereafter, simulation was performed to control the output signal with respect to the reference input in the fluid dynamic model using the proposed proportional control valve. To minimize the external fluctuation of pressure applied to the artificial arm, a disturbance observer was designed on the plant. A hybrid controller combined with a proportional controller and feed-forward controller was fabricated after applying a disturbance observer to the control plant. Comparison of the simulations between the conventional proportional controller and the proposed hybrid controller indicated that even though the former showed good control performance without disturbance, it was affected by the disturbance signal induced by the cuff. The latter exhibited an excellent performance under both situations.

  • In this study, the voltage control system of a single phase full bridge inverter was designed based on the SPWM driving method. The voltage control system consists of a single-phase full-bridge inverter, a PI controller for linearly compensating the error between the reference voltage and the output voltage, a PWM driving circuit for generating the gate signal using the SPWM method from the controller signal, and an LC filter for filtering the inverter output voltage waveform into sinusoidal waveform. Finally, the voltage control system of a single-phase full-bridge inverter based on the PWM driving method was modeled using EMTP-RV and by showing that the output voltage accurately converges the reference voltage through several simulation examples, the validity of the control system design was verified.
