According to the adoption of inverter circuit topology for welding machine area, the improvement of welding performance can be achieved. However conventional CO2 inverter arc welding machine uses the constant voltage characteristics. So the metal transfer is performed under unoptimum condition in the sence of spatter generation. In this paper the new control algorithm is proposed for welding machine, which is the instantaneous output current control method using single chip microprocessor. But the optimum waveform of welding current is still uncertain, as a first step for figuring out the optimized waveforms, this study was performed. And as a result of performance test of the proposed system, it was demonstrated that all of the waveform variation parameter could be set individually and the generated spatter is reduced compared to conventional inverter arc welding machine.
For the last two decades, waveform control techniques have been successively developed and applied for the inverter welding machines resulting in the substantial reduction of spatter generated in CO₂ welding. One of the constituents commonly involved in those techniques is to delay the instant of current increase to some extent after the initiation of short-circuiting. Although this technique has been known to be quite effective in reducing the spatter generation through the suppression of is instantaneous short circuiting, the delay time necessary for minimum spatter has not been clearly understood. In this study, the control system for varying the delay time was constructed so that the spatter generation rates could be measured over a wide range of delay time, 0.29-2.0 msec. As a result of this study, it was demonstrated that spatter generation rate(SGR) sharply decreased at delay time of 0.6 msec and longer accompanied with the change in characteristics of short circuit mode from the instantaneous short-circuiting(ISC) dominant to normal short-circuiting(NSC) dominant. Another feature that have been found in current waveform of over 0.6msec was the creation of current pulse right after the arc reignition stage. Because of this current pulses weld pool oscillated in wave-like fashion and it looks like to play an important role in developing short circuiting between electrode and weld pool.
As a method for improving the power factor and the waveform of ac line current drawn by ac to dc converters, converters of pulse-width control type with forced commutation circuits have been developed in recent years. However, these converters have rather complex commutation circuits which contain auxiliary thyristors in addition to the main thyristors, and their performance is not satisfactory. This paper proposes a new pulse-width controlled ac to dc converter, and analyses its commutation mechanism and its input and output characteristics. The proposed converter circuit consists of a usual thyristor bridge circuit with series diodes to which reactors and diodes are added. This circuit dose not contain auxiliary thyristors, and in this sense it is simpler than the previous converter circuits of pulse-width control type. Since the main thyristors of the converter can be forcedly turned off several times in a half cycle of source voltage, a pulse-width modulation control is possible in order to improve the current waveform as well as the power factor on ac line side. As to dc output side it is shown that the adjustable range of output voltage is wide and the voltage regulation is good due to a rapid reversal of voltage across the commutating capacitors by LC resonance during commutation period. It is also shown that the regenerative operation of the converter is possible.

This paper is given a full detail of mathematical analyses of input current and output voltage for a novel active type power factor correction (PFC) converter. These are compared with harmonics components of input current for a conventional PFC converter. The proposed PFC converter is constructed in using a new loss-less snubber circuit to achieve a soft switching of control device. Also the proposed converter for discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) eliminates the complicated circuit control requirement and reduces the size of components. The input current waveform in the proposed converter is got to be a sinusoidal form of discontinuous pulse in proportion to magnitude of ac input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, input power factor is nearly unity and the control method is simple. Particularly, the stored energy of loss-less snubber capacitor is recovered with input side and increases input current from resonant operation. The result is that input power factor of the proposed converter is higher than that of conventional PFC converter. Some simulative results on computer and experimental results are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results.

In this study, We use microstep control to reduce vibration of step motor. Microstep control of step motor is usually thought of as an extension of conventional step motor control technology. The essence of micro stepping is that we divide the full step of a step motor into a number of substep called microstep and cause the stepmotor to move through a substep per input pulse. In ideal case, by controlling the individual phase currents of a two-phase step motor sinusoidally we can get uniform torque and step angle. But due to the nonlinear characteristics of the step motor, we need to compensate current waveform to improve the over-all smoothness of the conventional micro stepping system. We implement digital Pulse Width Modul- ation (PWM) driver to drive step motor and microphone was used for detecting vibration. Driver enables speed change automatically by increasing or decreasing micro stepping ratio which we call Automatic Switching on the Fly. To compensate the torque harmonics, neural network is applied to the system and we found compensated optimal input current waveform. Finally we can get smooth motion of step motor in a wide range of motor speed.
To generate the plasma required in dry cleaning processes, the plasma chamber must be supplied with a high-quality AC voltage with a voltage of more than 1 kV and a frequency of 400 kHz. In the existing research, many methods to supply high power have been studied, but how to improve the quality of the power for high-quality plasma has been relatively little studied. In this paper, we propose a study to improve the quality of RF power circuit for high-quality plasma generation in dry cleaning method. Existing methods in the environment of full-bridge-based RF power circuits must perform PWM duty control in the light load region. This causes distortions in the waveform, resulting in poor power quality, which directly leads to poor plasma quality. To solve these problems, a half-bridge switching method is proposed and the improvement in waveform quality is verified. To verify the feasibility of the design and control algorithm proposed in this paper, an RF power circuit prototype is fabricated and the proposed design and control method is verified through simulation and actual experiments under dummy load.
The neutral section was installed in order to prevent conflict with different phase angle source in electric railway catenary system. The speed of electric train reduced due to coasting operation by notch off when it passed the neutral section. And, the catenary wire was damaged and the accident might be happened because of the arc generation when the electric train passed the neutral section with notch off condition. The inrush current of main transformer installed tiling train is analyzed during the operation of MCB(main circuit break) passing through the neutral section. The instantaneous waveform of load current were analyzed in case of powering and regenerative braking. Inrush current waveform with run of AC railway train showed that inrush current waveform and harmonics, the inrush current generated from main transformer in train has bad effects on power quality problem. In order to reduce these inrush currents, the MCB is connected when the phase angle of voltage is 90 degree. This paper is to measure inrush current and harmonics in main transformer of high speed train in neutral section of electric railway. This measurement report is used to control minimum inrush current in algorithm and power phase angle.
Solenoid operated valves (SOV) play important roles in industrial process to control the flow of fluids. Solenoid valves can be found in so many industries as well as the nuclear plant. The ability to be able to detect the presence of faults and predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of the SOV is important in maintenance planning and also prevent unexpected interruptions in the flow of process fluids. This paper proposes a fault diagnosis method for the alternating current (AC) powered SOV. Previous research work have been focused on direct current (DC) powered SOV where the current waveform or vibrations are monitored. There are many features hidden in the AC waveform that require further signal analysis. The analysis of the AC powered SOV waveform was done in the time and frequency domain. A total of sixteen features were obtained and these were used to classify the different operating modes of the SOV by applying a machine learning technique for classification. Also, a deep neural network (DNN) was developed for the prediction of RUL based on the failure modes of the SOV. The results of this paper can be used to improve on the condition based monitoring of the SOV.

A radial artery pulse wave is measured while pressing an artery with constant force. However, pulse waveform measurements vary depending on pressing force and direction. Accurate pulse waveform measurements are important for analysis. Thus, it is necessary to define the measurement range of the permissible force and direction from which a correct pulse waveform is derived. In this study, pulse waves were generated by a pulse wave generator for accurate control. The pulse waves generated for different angles and pressing forces were analyzed. The augmentation index (AIx), which is the most commonly used index for evaluating vascular stiffness, was analyzed. The AIx was measured within ${\pm}6^{\circ}$ of the vessel direction and within ${\pm}8^{\circ}$ perpendicular to the vessel direction with a force that was 25% or more of the pressing force at which the maximum pressure wave was generated. We identified the applicable pressing force and angle range by analyzing the effect of pressing angle on the pulse wave. The AIx analysis performed using the pulse wave measurement device is reliable and reproducible.

The Cycloconverter that the author is going to treat in this paper, has strong advantages over the D.C. Link Inverter in points of chattering torque problem and natural commutation. Thus, the Cycloconverter is expected to be well applied to large and low-speed machines which require better speed control at low frequency. But the control circuit of Cycloconverter has two weak points described as follows. 1) Because of its rather complicated control circuit, it is likely to be illoperating due to unexpected noise signals, thus the higher the accuracy and reliability of the circuit is required to be, the more the circuit may cost. 2) Because the load current is not purely sinusoidal, the Cycloconverter may possibly be destroyed in case of inaccurate convert switching resulted from the difficulties in detecting the load current-zero and the current direction at the moment. In this paper, the author first of all intends to design and build a modified VVVF-type Noncirculating Current Cycloconverter to which recently proposed control methods are applied for improving the circuit simplicity, the control performance, and the system reliability. And then, experiments for observing the output waveforms of the Cycloconverter which is controlled by Singled-Board Computer using 8086 16-bit microprocesser are carried out. Finally the author concludes the result of this study as follows. 1) By replacing the conventional analog control circuits such as Reference Wave Generator, Cosine Timing Wave Generator, and Comparator with softwares, a great circuit simplicity is achieved. 2) The output of the designed Cycloconverter changes its frequency very fast without showing discontinuity of its waveform, and this waveform characteristics enables the smooth speed control of Induction Motor. 3) The design control circuit of Cycloconverter can be applied to the systems of 12 or 24 pulses because of its short processing period.
