This paper presents a method to reduce torque ripple of brushless DC motor by compensating phase delay due to winding inductance. For considering torque ripple comes from the phase winding inductance, torque equation of one phase is derived as Fourier series that is function of the delay. From the equation, also the resultant equation that the current delay is compensated is derived. It is validated that the compensated torque has a form of Fourier series for rectangular wave that is ideal torque, and torque ripple is reduced, consequently. Experimental method for the compensation is realized by replacing switching pattern of inverter by pattern of compensated rotor position. The effectiveness of the proposed method to reduce torque ripple has been demonstrated by the simulation and experimental results using 3 phase 4 pole brushless DC moor.
In this paper, recently, it is described to the piezoelectric transformer technology develops, because it was have to favorable characteristics such as electromagnetic-noise free, compact size, higher efficiency, and superior power density, flux linkage, noiseless, etc. its resonance frequency was used to output waveform of a sine wave. A rotor speed identification method of induction motor based on the theory of flux model reference adaptive system(FMRAS). The estimator execute the rotor speed identification so that the vector control of the induction motor may be achieved. The improved auxiliary variable of the model are introduced to perform accurate rotor speed estimation. The control system is composed of the PI controller for speed control and the current controller using space voltage vector PWM techniuqe and DC-DC converter. High speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by digital signal one chip microprocessor. Validity of the proposed control method is verified through simulation and experimental results.

Objectives: No studies have yet assessed vibration characteristics according to endodontic file length. Accordingly, the objective of the present study was to examine the vibration characteristics according to nickel-titanium file length and to compare these characteristics between different file systems. Materials and Methods: A total of 45 root canal models were divided into 3 experimental groups (n = 15 each) based on the file system used (ProTaper Gold [PTG], ProTaper Next, or WaveOne Gold [WOG]). Each experimental group was further divided into 3 subgroups according to file length (21, 25, or 31 mm). An electric motor (X-SMART PLUS) was used in the experiment. For each file system, vibrations generated when using a size 25 file were measured and used to calculate the average vibration acceleration. The differences in vibrations were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance and the Scheffé post hoc test with a confidence interval of 95%. Results: In the PTG file system, significantly lower vibration acceleration was observed when using a 21-mm file than when using a 31-mm file. In the WOG file system, significantly stronger vibration acceleration was observed when using a 31-mm file than when using 21- or 25-mm files. Regardless of the file length, the WOG group exhibited significantly stronger vibration acceleration than the other 2 experimental groups. Conclusions: In clinical practice, choosing a file with the shortest length possible could help reduce vibrations. Additionally, consideration should be given to vibrations that could be generated when using WOG files with reciprocating motion.

NOx (Nitrogen oxide) in the exhaust gas from vehicle engines is considered one of the most harmful substances in air pollution problems. NOx is made when combustion occurs under high temperature conditions and EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) is normally used to lower the combustion temperature. As the EGR ratio increases, the NOx level becomes low, but a high EGR ratio makes the combustion unstable and causes further air pollution problems, such as CO and unburned hydrocarbon level increase. This study showed that fuel droplets could move more freely by the radiation of sonic wave for the stable combustion. In addition, the engine performance improved with increasing EGR ratio. As a basic study, the effect of sonic wave radiation on the velocity of fuel droplets was studied using CFD software. The results showed that the velocity of small droplets increased more under high frequency sonic wave conditions and the velocity of the large droplets increased at low frequency sonic wave conditions. In addition, an engine analysis model was used to study the effects of the increased combustion stability. These results showed that a 15% increase in EGR ratio in combustion resulted in a 45% decrease in NOx and a 10% increase in thermal efficiency.

Spasticity has been defined as "a motor disorder characterized by a velocity-dependent increased in tonic stretch reflexes with exaggerated tendon jerks, resulting from hyperexcitability of the stretch reflex, as one components of the upper motorneuron syndrome". Spasticity is one of the common symptoms of stroke patients and frequently interferes with the motor functions such as gait, posture and activities of daily living. Therefore, its management is becoming a major issue in physical therapy. The purpose of this study was to determined the effects of reciprocal inhibition by isometric contraction of pre-tibia muscle on spasticity in hemiplegic patients through Hoffmann reflex. The subjects were consisted 45 patients who had hemiplegia due to stroke. All subjects randomly assigned to 3 group: manual reciprocal inhibition program group(manual group), neuromuscular electrical stimulation group(NMES group) and control group. The manual group received voluntary isometric contraction of pre-tibia muscle. The NMES group received neuromuscular electrical stimulation on tibialis anterior. The control group was not received any therapeutic intervention. Before and after experiments, Hoffmann reflex, M-wave and Modified Ashworth scale was measure in all patients. The data of 30 patients who complete experimental course were statistically analysed. Modified Ashworth scale were significantly decreased after experiment in manual group(p<.01). The Hmax/Mmax ratios were significantly decreased after experiment in manual group(p<.o1). There were no statistical difference between pre-test and post-test with modified Ashworth scale in NMES group(p>.01). There were no statistical difference between pre-test and post-test with Hmax/Mmax ratios in NMES group(p>.01). There were no statistical difference between pre-test and post-test with modified Ashworth scale in control group(p>.01). There were no statistical difference between pre-test and post-test with Hmax/Mmax ratios in control group(p>.01). The present results revealed that reciprocal inhibition which produced by voluntary isometric contraction of pre-tibia muscle can be reduce spasticity of gastrocnemius. Therefore, reciprocal inhibition is useful to improve functional activities in hemiplegic patient. Further study should be done to analyse the effects of intervention duration of reciprocal inhibition, appropriate muscle contraction, optimal time to apply the reciprocal inhibition in more long period.
This research differentiate the technique of Jungkwon-jirugi, one of the basic movements of Taekwondo, into two movements stop-jirugi and push-jirugi and gives analysis of the impulse, acceleration and velocity in the point of motor control. For this, we tried graphic analysis using an acceleration sensor and high speed camera which was made from USA in 2005 and took pictures at 250 frames per second. We reached the following conclusions. First, the acceleration wave of push-jirugi was a period longer than stop-jirugi, meaning that the push-jirugi motion asserts force for a longer time. Second, the acceleration and velocity graph shows that the highest velocity occurs on the point when the acceleration begins to decrease right after reaching its maximum. Third, according to the image analysis using the high speed camera, we could find out that the shoulder is pushed a little even in the stop-jirugi motion.
Background: The gastrocnemius tightness can easily occur. Gastrocnemius tightness results in gait disturbance. Thus, various interventions have been used to release a tight gastrocnemius muscle and improve gait performance. Moreover, focal muscle vibration (FMV) has recently been extensively researched in terms of tight muscle release and muscle performance. However, no study has investigated the effects of FMV application on medial gastrocnemius architectural changes. Objects: In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of FMV on medial gastrocnemius architecture in persons with limited ankle dorsiflexion. Methods: Thirty one persons with <10° of passive ankle dorsiflexion participated in this study. We excluded persons with acute ankle injury within six months prior to study onset, a history of ankle fracture, leg length discrepancy greater than 2 cm, no history of neurological dysfunction, or trauma affecting the lower limb. The specifications of the FMV motor were as follows: a fixed frequency (fast wave: 150 Hz) and low amplitude (0.3-0.5 mm peak to peak) of vibration; the motor was used to release the medial gastrocnemius for 15 minutes. Each participant completed three trials for 10 days; a 30-second rest period was provided between each trial. Medial gastrocnemius architectural parameters [muscle thickness (MT), fiber bundle length (FBL), and pennation angle (PA)] were measured via ultrasonography. Results: MT significantly decreased after FMV application (p < 0.05). FBL significantly increased from its baseline value after FMV application (p < 0.05). PA significantly decreased from its baseline value after FMV application (p < 0.05). Conclusion: FMV application may be advantageous in reducing medial gastrocnemius excitability following a decrease in the amount of contractile tissue. Furthermore, FMV application can be used as a stretching method to alter medial gastrocnemius architecture.

Recently, the international regulations about the exhaust emissions of the motorcycle have been strengthened. The electrically controlled fuel injection type motorcycle has been emphasized to meet with this regulation. However, since the pulsation phenomenon happens in the intake port of the motorcycle because of the characteristic of high speed and the smaller layout than the passenger car, there are many difficulties to select the factor about control parameters needed to develop the ECU system. In this paper, the pulsation values measured from the engine test were compared with the calculated one by WAVE, and it was analyzed the pulsation characteristic according to the driving condition and estimated the mass flow rate. This research showed that the lowest point of the pressure gets lowin the low load and the pulsation of pressure were increased in the high load. Also, the simulation program was verified by showing good prediction of the pulsation and air mass flow rate.

When the pumps are started or stopped for the operation or tripped due to the power failure, the hydraulic transients occur as a result of the sudden change in velocity. The field tests on the waterhammer were carried out for Pangyo booster pumping station in which had six booster pumps and two in-line pumps with the motor of output 1,700 kW, respectively. The booster pumping station was equipped with the pump control valve as the main surge suppression device, and the surge relief valve as auxiliary one. But the pump control valve had not early controlled in the planned closing mode, the slamming occurred to the valve of which abruptly closed during the large reverse flow. Because the positive pressure wave caused by the pump failure was superposed on the slam surge, the upsurge increased so extremely that the pump control valve was damaged. After the air chambers were additionally installed in the booster pumping station, it was preyed that the water supply system acquire the safety and reliability on the pressure surge.
In this study, PID control method was applied to decrease the power fluctuation of the pulse laser which is one of the major processing variables in laser machining process. To stabilize the power fluctuation of the pulse laser, we averaged 10 pulse outputs of Nd:YAG laser operating in 10Hz using boxcar averager, and with taking this averaged output as an input signal, we conducted PID control using optical attenuator which is consisted of half wave plate attached on the stepping motor and polarizer. When PID control was not enabled, the power fluctuation was 4.71% and with PID control, the power fluctuation was 1.86% for 2 hours and 1 hour respectively. As a result, we stabilized the power fluctuation of the pulse laser by 60.5%
