진공 플라즈마 처리를 통한 초소수성 표면 제작 및 특성 평가 (Fabrication of Super Water Repellent Surfaces by Vacuum Plasma)

  • Super-hydrophobic surfaces showed that contact angle of water was higher than 140 degrees. That surface could be made several methods such as Carbon nano tubes grown vertically, PDMS asperities arrays, hydrophobic fractal surfaces, and self assembled monolayers coated by CVD and so on. However, we fabricated super-hydrophobic surfaces with plasma treatments which were very cost efficient processes. Their surfaces were characterized by static contact angles, advancing, receding, and stability against UV irradiation. Optimal surfaces showed static contact angles were higher than 150 degrees. Super-hydrophobic property was remained after UV irradiation for one week.

  • In this study, the graphite/epoxy prepregs were surface-treated using oxygen plasma, and optimal treatment time was determined measuring the contact angle en the prepreg surface. Interlaminar fracture behavior of surface-treated graphite/epoxy composite was compared with that of regular (untreated) graphite/epoxy composites. The results showed that the contact angle was a minimum when treated for 30 minutes. The interlaminar fracture toughness of surface-treated specimen was improved about 15% compared with that of regular specimen.

표면특성에 따른 물맺힘 특성이 가스흡착성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect on Gas Adsoption Efficiency for Various Surface Characteristics)

  • The gas adsorption efficiency for various surfaces with three different characteristics has been reviewed. The dimethyl disulfide gas has been used to investigate characteristics of gas adsorption for different surface characteristics such as plasma treated, lacquer coated and untreated. Three different surfaces were evaluated in dry conditions initially and tested at wet surface conditions with spraying water to evaluate the gas adsorption efficiency which usually occurred at defrost cycles. The results show that the gas adsorption of the plasma treated sample has better performance than others. The lacquer coated and untreated samples showed the similar result, but the lacquer coated sample showed a slightly better performance.

  • The thermal spray coating process is being used to protect the metals and alloys from wear, abrasion, fatigue, tribology, and corrosion failure. Therefore, in the present study, Al and Zn was deposited by plasma arc thermal spray process onto the steel substrate and their performance was assessed. The bond adhesion result shows that Al coating has higher value attributed to compact, dense, and less porous compared to Zn coating which contain defects/pores and uneven morphology assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical results show that the Al coating exhibited higher impedance value compared to Zn in artificial ocean water solution at prolonged exposure periods. However, both coatings show the increment in polarization resistance with exposure periods which reveal that porosity of coatings is filled by the corrosion products.

  • Polymer-like amorphous carbon films were deposited on polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) substrate by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) and their water vapor transmission rates (WVTR) were tested. propane was used as precursors. To make a polymer-like amorphous carbon film the deposition rate, surface roughness, light transmittance, and WVTR of the films were characterized as a function of the precursor feed ratio and plasma power. The water vapor transmission rates of bare PEN film and single layer PAC on PEN substrate were 6.95 g/m2/day and 0.3 g/m2/day, respectively. The superior property the water vapor permeability of thin layers of PAC was attributed to uniform coverage and good adhesion between PAC film and PEN substrate.

  • Effect of Jeo Ryong-Tang water Extract on Renal Function in Rabbit and Dog. In order to investigate the Pharmacological action of Jeo Ryoung-Tang on renal function, this study was performed in rabbit and dog, making use of it's water extract. Jeo Ryoung-Tang water extract (JRWE), when given into ear vein of rabbits, produced diuresis in a small dose, but antidiuresis in a large dose. Diuretic action of JRWE accompanied the increase of glomerular filtration rate (GFR), renal plasma flow (RPF) and amounts of $Na^+$ in exdreated in urin, but fractional excretion of filtered $Na^+$ was not changed. JRWE, when injected into proleg's vein of dog, produced diuresis, At this time, changes of renal function were similar to that of diuresis in rabbit. JRWE, when infused into a renal artery of dog, exhibited the diuresis in both kidney. It is thought that JRWE, when given into vein of rabbit or dog, induces the diuresis, and the mechanism of it's diuresis is the increase of renal plasma flow through secondary action by some endogenous humoural substance.

  • An analytical method for the simultaneous measurement of trace Cu, Sn, and Bi in sea water has been investigated by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry. Amberlite IRC-718 resin was used as a solid phase in solid-liquid extraction technique for the removal of matrix interferences such as Na, S, P, and other polyatomic ion species. Recoveries of 99.8% for Cu, 99.6% for Sn, and 97.9% for Bi were obtained for the standard spiked sample. The developed method was applied to analysis of trace metals in sea water.

개의 신장기능에 미치는 목통 수성 엑기스의 영향 (An Influence of Water Extract of Akebiae Lignum on Renal Function of the Dog)

  • Influence of Akebiae Lignum on the renal function of the dog was observed with water-extract, utilizing clearance technique. Akebiae Lignum water-extract (AWE) given intravenously in does of 3.0mg/kg and 30.0mg/kg elicited a marked antidiuretic effect and produced a distinguished decrease of glomerular filtration rate and renal plasma flow as reduction of sodium and potassium excretion in urine, positive free water clearance and osmolar clearance. AWE infused into a renal artery in doses of 0.03mg/kg/min and 0.1mg/kg/min exhibited identical results to the intravenous action confined only to the infused kidney. These results suggest that AWE elicits antidiuresis in the dog by decreasing glomerulor filtration and renal plasma flow, which are caused by the constriction of vas afferens in the glomeruli.

Oligomerization State of the Plasma Membrane Proteolipid Apoprotein Purified from the Bovine Kidney, Probed by the Fluorescence Polarization

  • In order to investigate the oligomerization state of the plasma membrane proteolipid apoprotein purified from the bovine kidney, fluorescence polarization experiment was carried out in the two different solvent systems, i.e., water and organic solvent(chloroform-methanol). The molecular volumes of the proteins estimated from the Perrin equation, were to be 45,258$A^3$ and 17,608$A^3$ in water and organic solvent, respectively. These values indicate that a trimerization is possibly occurring in the aqueous environment. As an auxiliary experiment for the calculation of the molecular volume using Perrin equation, fluorescence quenching constants ($K_q$) with the quencher acrylamide and fluorescence lifetimes (${\tau}_F$) of the intrinsic fluorophore tryptophan residue were estimated in the two different solvent systems. $K_q$ in water was 18.21$M^{-1}$ and it was 46.24$M^{-1}$ in organic solvent. Fluorescence lifetimes of tryptophan residue were calculated to be 2.80 nsec. in water and 3.81 nsec. in organic solvent, respectively.

  • Improved wettability and dyeability of Polypropylene(PP) fabrics were obtained using glow discharge plasma by grafting nitrogen-containing active groups on the surface.
