A Relationship between the Sea Level Variations in the Korea Strait and the Tokara Strait in the Kuroshio region

  • A relationship between sea level variations in the Korea Strait (the western and the eastern channels) and the Tokara Strait in the Kuroshio region is examined using daily-mean sea level data from 1966 to 1986. The seasonal variation of the sea level difference (SLD) between Izuhara and Pusan (the western channel) is most periodic: the positive anomalies appear from summer to autumn, and the negative anomalies from winter to spring year to year, whereas SLDs neither between Hakata and Izuhara (the eastern channel) nor between Naze and Nishinoomote (the Tokara Strait) show such a periodic variation. Much similarity has been found between SLDs in the eastern channel and the Tokara Strait, and in particular they were closely correlated in a special event of the Kuroshio region, such as a large meander of the Kuroshio. This paper shows that the periodic seasonal variation of the SLDs in the western channel should be less related to the Kuroshio region. This result also implies that the variation of SLD in the western channel is largely influenced by local factors, such as the bottom cold water in the western channel in summer, rather than from the Kuroshio region.

목자판 표면 상태에 적응적인 영상 기반 수위 계측 기법 (Image-based Water Level Measurement Method Adapting to Ruler's Surface Condition)

  • 본 논문은 수위 측정 영역의 오염 상태에 적응적인 영상 기반 수위 계측 기법을 제안한다. 수위를 측정하기 위해 사용되는 목자판이 진흙, 부유물, 조명의 강한 반사에 의해 얼룩진 경우, 목자판 내부의 수평 성분 패턴이 유지되는 영역의 최종 위치와 목자판과 수면의 색상 차를 이용하여 얻어진 대략적인 수위 위치인 참조 수위와의 거리 차를 측정하여 목자판의 오염 여부를 판단하는 기법을 사용한다. 목자판이 오염되지 않은 경우에는 수평 성분이 유지되는 최종 위치의 근방 하단 영역에서 수평 성분의 분포를 분석하여 히스토그램이 가지는 최대값의 30%이상의 값을 가지는 위치를 수위로 검출하고, 목자판이 오염된 경우는 참조 수위 근방의 색상 변화의 국지적인 정점과 골을 검출한 후 그 변화가 가장 큰 위치를 수위로 검출한다. 검출된 영상 수위는 영상에 보이는 목자판의 눈금을 기준으로 생성한 맵핑 테이블을 이용하여 실제 수위로 변환된다. 제안한 방법의 적용 가능성과 일반성을 평가하기 위하여 실제 교량에 측정 시스템을 구축하고 같은 위치에 기존에 설치된 초음파 기반 측정 시스템과 그 측정치를 비교하였다.

A Clinical Trial of Orally Administered Alkaline Reduced Water

  • Effects of alkaline reduced water (ARW) on the scavenging of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and diabetes were recently reported. However, no studies have yet been investigated on general drinking effects. In this study, we examined 100 patients hospitalized for senile disease treatment and recuperation. All examines received the ARW for 2 months. WBC level was decreased from $6.34\pm1.9(\times10^9/L)$ to $5.66\pm1.7(\times10^9/L)$. SGPT level was decreased from 27.47$\pm$14 Ut to 23.95$\pm$8.8 U/L. Cholesterol level was increased from 167.9$\pm$32 mg/dl to 176.21$\pm$42 mg/dl within normal range. However, the levels of potassium, adiponectin, SGOT and blood pressure showed no significant difference. The levels of growth hormone and homocysteine and mini-mental state examination also showed no significant difference. We suppose that the slight blood parameter trends indicate an improved physical condition induced by the ARW. Furthermore, we could found no harmful effect of the ARW in this study.

비닐하우스 지역의 지하수 양수에 따른 지하수-하천수 상호 유동 변화 분석 (Change of Groundwater-Streamflow Interaction according to Groundwater ion in a Green House Land)

  • 겨울철 작물재배를 위해서 비닐하우스 보온을 위한 수막시설의 이용이 늘어나고 있어 과다한 지하수 이용에 따른 수위 강하 및 하천수 감소를 유발하고 있다. 따라서 수막시설재배 지역에서의 지하수 양수가 지하수 대수층과 연결된 하천에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 정량적으로 평가해야 할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 경기도 이천시 신둔면 수하리 일대 수막시설재배지역에 지하수위와 온도를 계측하기 위한 지하수 관측공을 제내지와 제외지에 설치하고 관측 결과를 분석하여 지하수 양수에 따른 하천-지하수 상호유동계의 변화를 평가하였다. 연구대상지역은 수위와 수온 관측 결과, 수막시설재배기간 동안 지하수 양수의 영향으로 하천수가 지하수계로 유입되는 손실하천의 양상을 나타내었다. 하천바닥층에 대해 침윤계 실험을 통해서 유도한 수두차와 침윤량간의 관계에 자동관측된 수위자료를 대입하여 하천과 지하수계 상호간 유동량의 연속적인 변화를 산정한 결과 수막시설재배가 한창인 2월말에는 지하수 이용량의 약 16% 만큼의 하천수가 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다.

Experimental study of dynamic interaction between group of intake towers and water

  • Dynamic test with scaled model of a group of intake towers was performed to study the dynamic interaction between water and towers. The test model consists of intake tower or towers, massless foundation near the towers and part of water to simulate the dynamic interaction of tower-water-foundation system. Models with a single tower and 4 towers were tested to find the different influences of the water on the tower dynamic properties, seismic responses as well as dynamic water-tower interaction. It is found that the water has little influence on the resonant frequency in the direction perpendicular to flow due to the normal force transfer role of the water in the contraction joints between towers. By the same effect of the water, maximum accelerations in the same direction on 4 towers tend to close to each other as the water level increased from low to normal level. Moreover, the acceleration responses of the single tower model are larger than the group of towers model in both directions in general. Within 30m from the surface of water, hydrodynamic pressures were quite close for a single tower and group of towers model at two water levels. For points deeper than 30m, the pressures increased about 40 to 55% for the group of towers model than the single tower model at both water levels. In respect to the pressures at different towers, two mid towers experienced higher than two side towers, the deeper, the larger the difference. And the inside hydrodynamic pressures are more dependent on ground motions than the outside.

오미자(五味子) 전탕액(煎湯液)의 투여(投與)가 흰쥐의 혈청(血淸) cholesterol 대사(代射)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The effects of Fructure schizandra chinesis water on serum cholesterol metabolism in rats)

  • It was investigated effect of Fructure schizandra chinesis Water extract on the white rat which was induced hypercholesterolemia by fatty diet. The results obtained were summarized as follows; Neutral lipid level in blood lipid was greatly decreased on the group being fed animal fat diet and Fructure schizandra chinesis Water extract, total cholesterol was decreased on the group being fed vegetative fat diet, HDL-cholesterol was shown that the group being fed vegetative fat diet and Fructure schizandra chinesis Water extract at a time more increased HDL-cholesterol in a little than the other group, and normal fat diet group show to highest figure,38.5mg/dl. Animal fat diet group is 20.75 mg/dl. but, the group being fed Fructure schizandra chinesis Water extract was increased to 31.00mg/dl. LDL-cholesterol had no difference between fat diet group and the group being fed Fructure schizandra chinesis Water extract.

수문을 통한 흐름의 유량계수 분석 (Discharge Coefficient of flow through Gate piers)

  • 본 연구는 하구호의 배수문을 통한 배수량 추정공식중 잠류의 경우 유량계수를 1984∼1987년 영산호의 배수문에서 관측된 자료를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 유량계수는 무차원 변수 수위차일수심비 및 수면강하도와의 복합함수관계를 가지고 있었다. 기존방법과 본 방법을 이용 배수량을 추정 비교 검증한 결과 본 방법이 실배수량과 일치하였고 기존 방법중 적용가능한 방법을 도출하였다.

  • Advanced drinking water production systems, which not only good quality product water, but also provide easy management and mainenance of facilities, and operate on a smaller site area, have been expected to be developed for some time. We are going ahead with a program to deveop an advanced drinking water production system, using immersed membrane filtration combined with biological activated carbon, to meet the need described above. The demonstration plant tests been conducted with surface water from the Yodo-river since Dec. 1998 to measure treatment performance, reliability, and controllability of the system. The quality of product water has consistently remained at a very high level for about 2 years under controlled conditions. Results showed that the re-circulation granular biological activated carbon could suppress the increase of membrane pressure difference and promote a reduction of dissolved organic matter. Design and Application of Subsurface Drainage Devices for Multipurpose Farmland

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify the most stable boring shape among the circle, square, and inverted-triangle types in order to be applied to the development of a tractor-pulled underdrain boring device. Methods: The underdrain boring devices designed with the circle, inverted triangle, and square types were analyzed by numerical analysis, and they were evaluated by soil moisture and underground water level in the test field. Results: The results of the numerical analysis indicated that the increases in displacement, and strain when a uniform load is placed on the surface soil with soil weight were in the order of the inverted-triangle type, square type, and circle type. The soil moisture content and the underground water level after rainfall showed the largest difference in the order of the circle type, square type, and inverted-triangle type, indicating that the circle type had the largest drainage effects after rainfall. Conclusions: The overall findings of this study show that the circle type is the most stable among the circle, square, and inverted-triangle types.

FESWMS-2DH를 이용한 하천의 흐름 해석 (Flow Analysis of Rivers by using FESWMS-2DH)

  • In this study, flood stage was computed by HEC-RAS, 1-D numerical analysis model and FESWMS-2DH, 2-D numerical model. Flood stages computed by two different models were compared for straight line, dot axle watercourse, dead-zone watercourse, section sudden-changing watercourse, and curved watercourse. From the results, flow velocity and water level were similar in straight watercourse and dot-reduction watercourse. However, there was difference of flow velocity and water level in dead-zone watercourse, sudden expansion, dot-reduction, and curve-watercourse. This result might be influenced by rapid change of watercourse due to dead-zone, the angle of inflow and outflow, and the curvature. Especially in this study, numerical model was applied to Wol-Song-Cheon at Chuncheon in order to analyze the effect of flood stage by two different models. By flowing properties around the bridge and confluence of rivers, it was found that flow velocity and water level was changed. Therefore, it was concluded that a lot of uncertainties are contained in the present bank.
