Following are the results of the study on the property of falling permeation of stratified soil in the close state under existence of stagnant water on a soil layer. 1. When on the stratified soil a least permeating layer was put on the soil layer the load Pressure was present owing to appearance of saturation close state driving decrease of the pressure in the lower layer, on the other hand when the least permeating layer was placed under the layer the lower least permeating layer pressure was decreased. 2. In the case of least permeating layer the variation of current gradient according to the respective level after treating the layer was enormous and due to usal storage phenomena for the Kl layer which was coarse that was trifle. 3. The permeability of the respective layer of stratified soil in the close state died not always coincide with that of single layer. 4. Generally Zunker's equation of average permeability was valid but actually calculated permeating velocity after treating the layer of stratified soil was seriously differ from the measured value owing to the variation of current gradient, especially when the pressure head at the layer boundany was discontinuous the validity of the equation of average permeability was seemed to be doubtful. 5. The permeating velocity of stratified soil was regulated by the least permeating layer, i.e. it is thought to be rational to estimate the value by calculating the current gradient with its proper permeability, pressure headon the layer and its thickness.
The water management is one of the key issues in low operating temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The gas diffusion layer (GDL) allows the reactant gases flow to the reaction sites of the catalyst layer (CL). At high current density, generated water forms droplets because the normal operating temperature is $60{\sim}80^{\circ}C$. If liquid water is not evacuated properly, the pores in the GDL will be blocked and the performance will be reduced severely. In this study, the microchannel GDL was proposed to solve the flooding problem. The liquid water transport through 3-D constructed conventional GDL and microchannel GDL was analyzed varying air velocity, water velocity, and contact angle. The simulation results showed that the liquid water was evacuated rapidly through the microchannel GDL because of the lower flow resistance. Therefore, the microchannel GDL was efficient to remove liquid water in the GDL and gas channels.

Over about 30% of problems in construction is related to water-leaking, and the loss from this problem can incur as much as three times the cost of initial construction. Thus, water vapor pressure is known to be the primary cause of defective waterproofing. Accordingly, the theories on the relationship between water pressure and temperature as well as damp-proofing volume of concrete and the change in vapor pressure volume were reviewed and analyzed in this study by making test samples after spraying a dampness remover and applying waterproofing materials to the prepared test specimens. The result of measuring water vapor pressure with the surface temperature of the waterproofing (fluid-applied membrane) layer at the experimental temperature setting of about $10^{\circ}C$, which is the annual average temperature of Seoul, indicated that (1) the temperature of the fluid-applied membrane elevated to about $40^{\circ}C$, and the water vapor pressure generated from the fluid-applied membrane was about 0.03 N/mm 2 when the surface temperature of the waterproofing layer was raised to about $80^{\circ}C$. (2) when the temperature of the fluid-applied membrane of the waterproofing layer was raised from $30^{\circ}C$ to $35^{\circ}C$, water vapor pressure of about 0.01 N/mm 2 was generated, and (3) when a thermal source was applied to the fluid-applied membrane (waterproofing) layer, the temperature increased from $35^{\circ}C$ to $40^{\circ}C$, and approximately $0.005\;N/mm^2$ of water vapor pressure was generated.
To identify applicability for packaging material of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/boric acid (BA) coating solution with highly-enhanced water vapor and oxygen barrier properties, the PET/PVA-BA/OPP multi-layer films were prepared through comma coating and lamination process. The oxygen and water vapor permeabilities, and tensile strength of as-prepared multi-layer films were investigated before and after pressure cooker test (PCT). Although oxygen and water vapor permeabilites, and mechanical properties of PET/PVA-BA/OPP multi-layer films was decreased after PCT, their properties were highly enhanced as increase of BA contents in PVA matrix. This is strongly related with enhanced cross-linking density in PVA-BA layer. In storage test of seasoned-laver, the PET/PVA-BA/OPP multi-layer films were comparatively effective to suppress the increase in peroxide value originating from oxidation of seasoned-laver. Comparing the commercially available PP/Al-metallized PP for seasoned-laver packaging, however, PET/PVA-BA/OPP multi-layer films did not show any advantage in water activity. This is due to higher water vapor permeation properties of as-prepared multi-layer films. Therefore, further studies are required to enhance the water vapor permeation in PET/PVA-BA/OPP multi-layer films.

The environmental changes related to hypoxic water mass were investigated at Gamak bay in summer times, June, July and August 2006. The hypoxic water mass was found, in first, at the northern area of Gamak bay on 27 June. This water mass has been sustained until the end of August and disappear on 13 September. In Gamak bay, the hypoxic water mass was closely related to geography. During the formation of oxygen deficiency, changes in dissolved nutrients was studied and found that on surface layer and lower layer, DIN were 0.80 ${\mu}M$~19.8 ${\mu}M$(6.03 ${\mu}M$) and 1.13 ${\mu}M$~60.83 ${\mu}M$(10.66 ${\mu}M$), and DIP were 0.01 ${\mu}M$~0.92 ${\mu}M$(0.24 ${\mu}M$), and 0.01 ${\mu}M$~3.57 ${\mu}M$(0.49 ${\mu}M$), respectively, far higher distribution on lower layer of the water where hypoxic water mass was occurred. The configuration of phosphorus was analyzed to figure out the possibility of release of phosphorus from sediments. It was found that the Labile-Phosphorus, which is capable of easy move to water layer by following environmental change was found more than 70%. Therefore, in Gamak bay, it was found that the possibility of large amount of release of soluble P into the water, while hypoxic water mass was occurred in deep layer was higher. It is suggested that DIP in the northern sea of Gamak bay mainly sourced from the soluble P from lower layer of the waters where hypoxic water mass was created more than that from basin. However, existence form of phosphorus in sediments during normal times, not during creation of hypoxic water mass, needs further study.

In this paper, arc thermal spray coating was conducted onto the SS400 steel using Inconel 625 wires in order to improve the durability of marine steel structures, and then investigated cavitation damage behavior of Inconel 625 coating layer in sea water. For the Inconel 625 coating layer, surface hardness appeared similar to that of existing high velocity oxy-fuel coating technology with 380~480 HV, but the porosity of about 6 % was larger relatively. During the cavitation experiment, pit damages were originated and grown at the rough surface and pore defect area of Inconel 625 coating layer. And, after the 72 hours of experimental time, weight loss of Inconel 625 coating layer exhibited gradually increasing tendency due to surface damage effect of the undercut.

Wetlandsis developing on the lava plateau in Eundae-ri, even though there are no majorstreams into this area. As a result of drilling, 1~2m clay layer is founded under the superficial formations of the wetland, which are the main reasons for formation of the wetlands by limiting vertical drainage. The clay layer's Granulometry/XRD show very different characteristics from in situ weathering of basalt, and since 2~3cm of sand layer exist within the profile, the clay layer seems to be supplied and deposited from outside through surface/sheet flows. To keep the wetlands sustainably, the supply of water into the wetlands has to be increased by restoring the surface/sheet flow which is limited or deformed by pavement road.

Organic electronic devices require a passivation layer to ensure sufficient lifetime. Specifically, flexible organic electronic devices need a barrier layer that transmits less than $10^{-6}\;g/m^2/day$ of water and $10^{-5}\;g/m^2/day$ of oxygen. To increase the lifetime of organic electronic device, therefore, it is indispensable to protect the organic materials from water and oxygen. Severe groups have reported on multi-layerd barriers consisting inorganic thin films deposited by plasma enhenced chemical deposition (PECVD) or sputtering. However, it is difficult to control the formation of granular-type morphology and microscopic pinholes in PECVD and sputtering. On the contrary, atomic layer deoposition (ALD) is free of pinhole, highly uniform, conformal films and show good step coverage. In this study, the passivation layer was deposited using single-process PEALD. The passivation layer, in our case, was a bilayer system consisting of $Al_2O_3$ films and a $TiO_2$ buffer layer on a poly (ether sulfon) (PES) substrate. Because the deposition temperature and plasma power have a significant effect on the properties of the passivation layer, the characteristics of the $Al_2O_3$ films were investigated in terms of density under different deposition temperatures and plasma powers. The effect of the $TiO_2$ buffer layer also was also addressed. In addition, the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) and organic light-emitting diode (OLEDs) lifetime were measured after forming a bilayer composed of $Al_2O_3/TiO_2$ on a PES substrate.

In this paper, a dynamic model describing the 2 phase effect on the gas diffusion layer depending on load change of a fuel cell stack was developed to examine the effects of liquid water in fuel cell cathode gas diffusion layer on the fuel cell performance. For the developed model, 2 phase effect on the performance of a fuel cell stack depending on the load changes, concentration distribution of water vapor and oxygen inside a gas diffusion layer, the effect of the thickness and porosity of the gas diffusion layer on the fuel cell stack voltage were examined. As a result, a fuel cell stack voltage for the 2 phase model within the scope of the research become lower than that for the 1 phase model regardless of the load. Although oxygen molar concentration for the gas diffusion layer adjacent to the catalyst layer was the lowest, water vapor concentration is the highest. In addition, as thickness and porosity of the gas diffusion layer increased and decreased, respectively, the fuel cell stack voltage decreased.
