급수관로계에 설치된 수격흡수기의 수격흡수효과에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Water Hammer Absorption Effects of Water Hammer Arrester in the Water Supply Piping System)

  • In this study, dynamic characteristics of water hammer pressure in water supply piping system with water hammer arrester has been investigated experimentally to characterize the transient pressure of water hammer in high rise building. Experiments were conducted to verify the absorption effects by water hammer arresters with 3 different gas volumes of water hammer pressure generated by sudden valve closure. As the results, it has been found that zoning and sizing of pipe diameter for suitable flow velocity and water hammer arresters with effective pressure absorption capacity have to be installed to protect water hammer problems in building water supply piping system.

  • This study is to investigate the pressure wave characteristics and the absorption of maximum and minimum pressure generated by instantaneous valve closure at the end of the straightening copper piping system with and without a water hammer arrester. Experiments were conducted under the following conditions : initial pressure 1~5 bar, flow velocity 0.6~3.0 m/s, water temperature $20^{\circ}C$ and air volume of water hammer arrester $80~180^cm^3$. Experimental results show that the optimum air volume of water hammer arrester is 110㎤.

최초의 평가시험 방법을 고려한 수격흡수기의 장치에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Water Hammer Arrester Considering the Way of First Assessment Test)

  • 배관시스템의 불안정한 유동에 의해 생성되는 수격현상은 관내 압력의 과도한 변화, 진동 및 소음을 일으킬 수 있다. 이러한 수격현상은 관로, 펌프 및 밸브등의 시설물에 기계적인 사고를 유발시키는 원인이 되기도 한다. 한편, 국내에서는 수격현상으로 인한 피해를 최소화하기 위하여 수격흡수기를 제조 및 사용하여 왔으며, 그동안 별도의 기준이 없어 저가 위주로 생산 및 설치되어 왔다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 수격흡수기 성능에 대한 최소 가이드라인을 제시하기 위하여, 하나의 배관으로 검증 가능한 시험방법, 수계소화설비에서 수격발생을 가정한 시험방법, 개방충격압과 차단충격압으로 구분한 흡수시험 방법, 배관을 분기한 시험시설 구성 방법 등의 다양한 방법들을 통하여 수격흡수기의 성능을 기준화 할 수 있는 방법등에 대하여 고안하였다. 그리고, 최종적으로는 U자형 배관과 시험용 추를 이용한 간단한 기계적 방식으로 수격흡수기의 수격압 흡수성능을 검증할 수 있는 실험 장치를 최초로 고안하여, 소방용 수격흡수기의 인정기준이 제정되었다.

Dynamic Characteristics of Water Hammer Arresters for Building Service Applications

  • Dynamic characteristics of water hammer arresters installed in a building water supply system have been investigated numerically by utilizing a commercial code that employs the method of characteristics. Some preliminary results with those arrester models produced in this study agree well with the previously reported. Then, the arrester models have been incorporated into a water supply pipe system of a 59 $m^2$apartment unit constructed by a leading construction company, and their dynamic characteristics have been investigated, especially on the reduction in the water hammer pressure. It is found that the setting of the arresters in the pipe system, which is recommended by the company, may not be proper for reducing the pressure down below 1,082.0 kPa (10.0 kg$g_f$/$cm^2$) when quick-closure valves in the pipe system are closed within 30 ms at the static pressure of 542.6 kPa (4.5 kg$g_f$/$cm^2$). More arresters in the system may be required to meet pressure criteria stated on the related standards and codes.

  • Water hammer pressure waves were measured in a simplified water piping system with and without arresters and air chambers by the operations of the solenoid valve. Experiments were performed to investigate the effects of the location of the arresters and the effects of the volume of the air chambers on maximum and minimum water hammer pressures and wave frequency for various flow rates.
