This study was to determine the characteristics of vapor-permeable waterproof finished fabric by the coating method. 4 different kinds of coating fabrics (A : wet, porous, polyurethane, B : dry, no porous, polyurethane, C : shape memory polyurethane and D : dry, porous polyurethane) were used, which were developed recently With this sample, moisture transport rate ($40^{\circ}C$, 45%RH & $40^{\circ}C$, 95%RH), changes of coating side's shape by washing times, water repellency rate, contracted length, qmax, heat conductivity, heat keeping rate, heat keeping rate with cotton, heat keeping rate on humidity temperature and humidity within clothing etc. were checked. And it was done in a climate chamber under $20{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, $65{\pm}5%RH$. The results of this study were as follow; In the moisture vapor transmission of sample B and C increased on high temperature and high humidity while sample A and D decreased, on this condition. Qmax rate had high relation with ground fabric's surface properties and the order was A>C>D>B. Heat conductivity had high relation with thickness and surface properties. Heat keeping rates on sweat condition showed around half percents of heat keeping rates on normal condition, but had no relation with moisture vapor transport rate. Changes of the fabric's properties by washing times were different in accordance with the construction of fabrics and the coating resin. Sample C had tow heat keeping rate on the high temperature and humidity and high heat keeping rate on the low temperature and humidity Moisture transport rate of vapor-permeable waterproof finished fabrics had high relation with the properties of ground fabrics on low humidity condition, but on the high humidity condition, it was highly related with the properties of coating resin.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the suitability of several knit fabrics for the hadicapped children's slacks. After the observation and wearing test abrasion resistance pilling liquid water transport properties and heat transport properties of the fabrics were tested. As specimens cotton/polypropylene interlock knits and sweat absorbent polyester knit fabric were selected and compared to the cotton denim and wool fabrics. As a result of observation test importance of extensibility durability and comfort related properties were recognized. Through the wearing test depending on the handicap type and orthoses different location and grade of pilling were observed. Knit fabrics used in this experiment were as durable as woven fabrics and showed excellent heat and liquid water transport properties. It was concluded therefore that cotton/polypropylene and sweat absorbent polyester knit fabrics are suitable materials for handicapped children's slacks.

This paper is to research the heat transfer characteristic performance of the copper-water heat pipe with the screen wicks. Recently, the semiconductor capacity of an electronic unit has been larger, on the contrary, its size has been much smaller. As a result, a high-performance cooling system is needed. Experimental variables are inclination angles, temperatures of cooling water and the mesh number of screen wicks. The distilled water was used for the working fluid. At the inclination angle $6^{\circ}$ in top heat mode, the two layers of the 100-mesh screen wick showed the best heat transfer performance. The thermal resistance of the two layers with the 100-mesh screen was 0.7~$0.8^{\circ}C$/W.
A numerical simulation of membrane evaporation process was carried out in this work. The aim of simulation is to describe transport of water through porous membranes applicable to the concentration of aqueous solutions. A three-dimensional mathematical model was developed which considers transport phenomena including mass, heat, and momentum transfer in membrane evaporation process. The equations of model were then solved numerically using finite element method. The results of simulation in terms of evaporation flux were compared with experimental data, and confirmed the accuracy of model. Moreover, profile of pressure, concentration, and heat flux were obtained and analyzed. The results revealed that developed 3D model is capable of predicting performance of membrane evaporators in concentration of aqueous solutions.

In the present study, an evaporative generation process of ammonia-water solution film on the vertical plate was analysed. For the utilization of waste heat, hot water of low temperature was used as the heat source. The continuity, momentum, energy and diffusion equations for the solution film and vapor mixture were formulated in integral forms and solved numerically. Counter-current solution-vapor flow resulted in the refrigerant vapor of the higher ammonia concentration than that of co-current flow. Eve the rectification of refrigerant vapor was observed near the inlet of solution film in counter-current flow. For the optimum operation of generator using hot water, numerical experiments, based on the heat exchange and generation efficiencies. revealed the inter-relationships among the Reynolds number of the solution film and hot water, and the length of generator. Enhancement of heat and mass transport in the solution film was found to be very effective for the improvement of generation performance, especially at high solution flow rate.

Efforts for better understanding of the interaction between groundwater recharge and thermal regime of the subsurface medium is gaining momentum for its diverse applications in water resources. A numerical model is developed to simulate temperature variations of the subsurface under time varying groundwater recharge. The model utilizes MacCormack scheme for finite difference approximation of the partial differential equation describing the conductive and advective heat transport. For the estimation of recharge rate, optimization of the model is realized by searching for the unknown parameters which minimize the root-mean-square error between simulated and measured temperatures. Simulation results for 22-year time series data of temperature measurements reveal that the proposed model can accurately simulate subsurface temperature variations resulting from the redistribution of the heat due to the movement of water and it can also estimate temporal variations of recharge. Seasonal variations of recharge and a linear relationship between precipitation and recharge are clearly reflected in the simulated results.

Water vapor and thermal transmission properties of high emotional garments are important to evaluate wear comfort; in addition, the measuring methods of these properties are also critical for breathable and warm suit fabrics. In this study, the water vapor and thermal properties of composite yarn fabrics made of CoolMax, Tencel, and Bamboo fibers with filaments were measured and compared according to the measuring method. Water Vapor Transmittance (WVT) of the fabric woven by the sheath/core composite yarn in the warp direction was the highest due to the small staple fiber volume in the sheath/core yarn structure and high air voids in the sheath/core yarn fabrics. This property was also the highest in fabrics woven by bamboo staple yarns in the weft direction, and was the lowest on hi-multi filament fabrics. However, water vapor resistance ($R_{ef}$) of these fabrics by KSK ISO 11092 showed the opposite results to the water vapor transmittance method ($CaCl_2$ method); in addition, its correlation coefficient was low. The correlation coefficient between $R_{ef}$ and the drying rate was 0.719; therefore, the measurement mechanism of $R_{ef}$ is analogous to the drying property measurement. The thermal conductivity of the fabrics woven with compact staple yarn showed a high value; however, the hi-multi filament fabric showed low thermal conductivity. Therefore, fiber characteristics affect thermal properties more than yarn structure. The correlation between thermal property and moisture transport was also low. This study showed that: water vapor transmittance was active at the loose yarn structure, dry heat transport was vigorous at the compact yarn structure, and heat transport was affected more by fiber characteristics than yarn structure. In conclusion, sheath/core composite yarns were relevant to the high absorptive cool suit along with siro-fil and CoolMax/Bamboo staple yarns that were relevant to the heat diffusive cool suit.

The effects of an inserted coil on flow . patterns and heat transfer performance for a horizontal rotating heat pipe have been studied experimentally. Especially, the present study is to see an internally inserted helical coil inside a RHP would lead to the same kind of results as internal fins. Visualization test conducted for an acryl tube, charged water with at a volumetric rate of 20%. When the flow kept pool regime at a low rpm(less than 1,000rpm), the movement of coil forced the water to flow in axial direction. But this pumping effect of coil disappeared, when the pool regime changed to annular one which could be created by increasing rpm. The pumping effects for RHP with an inserted coil resulted in the enhancement in both condensation heat transfer coefficient and heat transport limitation, as obtained in case of using internal fins. But all these effects became negligible in the range of higher rpm(above 1,000-1,200) with the transition of flow regime to annular flow.
The heat conduction and the water vapour diffusion flow through heat insulators between hygroscopical moist building materials were measured by means of the plate method. It was found that the heat transport increases with a moisture motion occuring in the temperature drop. On his basis of simplified assumptions, the increase in the thermal conductivity was calculated from the rate of diffusion flow per unit area, which generally resulted in values inferior to the measured values. The Increase in the heat transport due to water vapour diffusion measured at a large-scale wall specimen was inferior to the one measured by means of the plate method by using a comparable arrangement of layers. The overall heat transfer caused by moisture motion is not a characteristic value of the material, but a property of the whole wall structure
