The optical properties of the sea water were studied by use of underwater lux-meters in the coastal waters of Busan from May to November 1975. The absorption coefficient of the sea water in the area ranges from O. 169 to 1. 049 and the mean absorpflOn coefficient is 0.413. Maximum monthly mean absorption coefficient (0. 56) was observed in August, while the minimum was O. 338 in September. There was a distinct discontinuity layer of the absorption coefficient in accordance with the thermocline and the halocline in summer. The mean transparency of the area was 3. 8 meters, and transparency in autumn was higher than that in summer. The relation between absorption coefficient (m) and transparency (D) was deduced, m=1. 57/ D. The rate of light penetration at 5 m-layer of sea water was 2. 5 percent when the solar altitude was six degree in July 1975.

Water vapor absorption performance of four components solution ($LiBr+LiNO_3+LiC1+H_2O$) which could be substituted for commonly used $LiBr/H_2O$ solution in water cooled abosorption chiller is tested using a vertical tube absorber. Inlet solution concentration, inlet solution temperature, solution flow rate and inlet temperature of cooling water is varied as experimental parameters. The results of the experiment of water vapor absorption performance show that four components solution should have $2\%$ higher concentration for equal absorption capacity of $LiBr/H_2O$. But considering that four components solution have higher solubility than LiBr solution about $3\%$ high oncentration, four components solution ($LiBr+LiNO_3+LiC1+H_2O$) have more absorption capacity than LiBr solution in actual absorption chiller and can be applied to a small or air cooled absorption chiller.
Polymerization of terminal alkynes (phenlacetylene and 4-ethynyltoluene) catalyzed by water soluble rhodium (Ⅰ) complex, RhCl(CO)(TPPTS)2 (TPPTS=m-P(C6H4SO3Na)3) (1) selectively produces cis-transoid polymers at room temperature in homogeneous solution of H2O and MeOH as well as in biphasic solutions of H2O and CHCl3. The rate of polymerization is higher in H2O/MeOH than in H2O/CHCl3. The iridium analog, IrCl(CO)(TPPTS)2 (2) shows catalytic activity for the polymerization of phenylacetylene only at elevated temperature to give trans-polymers. The polymerization rate increases significantly when the trimethylamine N-oxide (Me3NO) was added to the reaction mixtures. The electronic absorption spectra of the cis-transoid polymers show three absorption bands whereas the trasn-polymers show only one absorption band. It seems that the electronic absorption bands depend on the configuration of the polymers.

A numerical model which simulates the flow boiling process of the ammonia/water solution within a plate type generator for ammonia/water absorption refrigerators was developed. The ammonia/water solution flows downward under gravity and the ammonia/water vapor generated by flow boiling flows upward. The heating medium flows counter to the ammonia/water solution. The flow pattern within the generator was assumed to be a bubbly flow, and the liquid and vapor phases were assumed to be saturated. It was shown that the boiling of ammonia occurred mainly in the upper part of the generator. The effects of the heating medium inlet temperature, the mass flow rate of the heating medium and the mass flow rate of ammonia/water solution into the generator on the generation of ammonia/water vapor were investigated.

Most concrete is recently made of an aggregate which is properly absorbed, and carried in it in order to do capability at every fields. We have been close to demand new capability of high flowing and enduring for specific concretes. That is difficult to cope with claiming the efficiency on deterioration from lack of a high quality aggregate. Therefore, For solving the problems we apply to a packing method for using dried materials. That is to say it is a kind of making into an instant. In this study, There is a purpose to present fundamental data, comparing and analyzing a phenomenon about aggregate's absorption following the rate of adding water, for using existing materials.

An experimental study was performed to examine the heat and mass transfer characteristics of $LiBr-H_2O$ solution flowing over a single horizontal tube with the water vapor absorption. Effects of the flow rate and the temperature of the solution at the top of the tube, the absorber pressure and the drainage pattern were considered. The absorption rate depends highly on the absorber pressure at the low flow rate condition while on the solution inlet temperature at the high flow rate condition. Also, when the flow rate is low, the absorption performance with the sheet flow drainage appeared to be higher than that with the dripping/jet drainage. However, at the high flow rate condition, the case became reversed. The liquid film became wavy with the higher absorption rate. The waves were more probable to form with the lower flow rate and temperature of the solution, and with the higher absorber pressure.

EVA Powder modified high strength concretes were prepared by varying polymer/binder mass ratio with a constant water/binder mass ratio of 0.3. The effect of EVA powder on the slump, hydration heat, compressive and flexural strength, toughness and water absorption ratio was studied. In hydration heat test, temperature of hydration reaction displayed almost fixed level regardless of containing rate of EVA powder, but peak time of hydration reaction displayed late inclination as containing rate of powder increases. With the same water/binder mass ratio, the compressive strength and water absorption of EVA powder modified concretes decreased slightly when EVA powder was added and the flexural strength of EVA powder modified concretes rised slightly when EVA powder was added. Also, the toughness of the modified concretes can be improved markedly. The interpenetrating structure between the polymeric phase and cement hydrates formed at a $2{\sim}6%$(containing rate of EVA powder). The properties of the polymer modified concretes were influenced by the polymer film, cement hydrates and the combined structure between the organic and inorganic phases.
Nineteen japonica and Tongil-type rices were selected from seventy nine Korean and Japanese rice cultivars grown in 1989 based on the water uptake behavior of milled rice under the room temperature and boiling conditions. The selected rice cultivars were investigated for water absorbability and some physicochemical characteristics of milled rice, proper water amount for cooking and sensory evaluation of cooked rice. The relationships among the tested grain properties were also examined. The highest varietal variation of water uptake rate was observed at twenty minutes after soaking in water. The maximum water uptake of milled rices at room temperature occurred mostly at about eighty minutes after soaking in water. Newly harvested rices showed a significantly lower water uptake rate of milled rice at 20 minutes after soaking, a relatively higher maximum water absorption ratio under the room temperature, and the less water uptake and volume expansion of boiled rice compared with the one-year old rice samples. The water uptake rate and the maximum water absorption ratio showed significantly negative correlations with the K/Mg ratio and alkali digestion value(ADV) of milled rice. The rice materials showing the higher amount of hot water absorption exhibited the larger volume expansion of cooked rice. The harder rices with lower moisture content revealed the higher rate of water uptake at twenty minutes after soaking and the higher ratio of maximum water uptake under the room temperature condition. These water uptake characteristics were not associated with the protein and amylose contents of milled rice ansd the palatability of cooked rice. The water/rice ratio(in w/w basis) for optimum cooking was averaged to 1.52 in dry milled rices (12% wet basis) with varietal range from 1.45 to 1.61 and the expansion ratio of milled rice after proper boiling was averaged to 2.63(in v/v basis). The water amount needed for optimum cooking was the lowest in Cheongcheongbyeo (Tongil-type rice) and the highest in Jinbubyeo, and the amount could be estimated with about 70% fittness by the multiple regression formula based on some water uptake characteristics, ADV and amylose content of milled rice as the independent variables. Nineteen rice cultivars were classified into seven groups based on scatter diagram projected by principal component analysis using eight properties related to water uptake and gelatinization of milled rice.

The purpose of this study is to understand the Physical characteristics of cement mortar about humidity control on indoors and wall crack restraint. Experiments were conducted on the strength, water absorption coefficient, drying-shrinking crack, length change, cracks of mortar plaster bases according to mixture rate by mixing cellulose fiber and diatomite into cement mortar. The excellent tensile & bending reinforcement efficiency of cellulose fiber and void filling ability of diatomite proved to be suppressing cracks of cement. And diatomite seems to improve moisture-protection efficiency of cement mortar because of its high water absorption ratio and slow drying speed.

In this study, the absorption kinetics of $CO_2$onto a mixture of AMP (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) MEA (monoethanolamine) water were investigated at 30 and 4$0^{\circ}C$ using a packed absorption tower. Solubility and absorption rate of $CO_2$into alkanolamine solutions and optimal condition of $CO_2$absorption process were investigated. The experimental conditions are as follows; temperature of 30 and 4$0^{\circ}C$, gas flow rate of 3ι/min for the absorption tower, and liquid flow rate of 0.1ι/min. Feed gas was a mixture of 85% $N_2$and 15% $CO_2$. The experimental results showed that AMP had greater solubilities and faster absorption rates than MEA and DEA. In addition, MEA had the fastest initial reaction rate. To improve the properties of AMP which have low initial reaction rate and high cost, AMP was used with MEA. The mixing ratio was also changed in constant total molarity of 1,2,3 and 4. The experimental results can be summarized as follows: (1) in solubility experiment, the addition of MEA in constant total polarity decreased the solubility of $CO_2$in AMP/MEA mixture. (2) from 0 to about 0.3 in mixing ratio, the solubility of $CO_2$in AMP/MEA mixture had little differences compared with the sum of solubility of AMP only and solubility of MEA only . (3) mixing ratio of 0.3 was found to be an optimal point with the fastest $CO_2$absorption rate.
