This study aims at testing a hypothesis that the resilience of agricultural water systems is characterized by trade-offs and synergies of effects from climate and socioeconomic change. To achieve this, an Agricultural Water System Climate Resilience Assessment (ACRA) framework is established to evaluate comprehensive resilience of an agricultural water system to the combined impacts of the climate and socioeconomic changes with a case study in South Korea. Understanding dynamic behaviors of the agricultural water systems under climate and socioeconomic drivers is not straightforward because the system structure includes complex interactions with multiple feedbacks across components in water and agriculture sectors and climate and socioeconomic factors, which has not been well addressed in the existing decision support models. No consideration of the complex interactions with feedbacks in a decision making process may lead to counterintuitive and untoward evaluation of the coupled impacts of the climate and socioeconomic changes on the system performance. In this regard, the ACRA framework employs a System Dynamics (SD) approach that has been widely used to understand dynamics of the complex systems with the feedback interactions. In the ACRA framework applied to the case study in South Korea, the SD model works along with HOMWRS simulation. The ACRA framework will help to explore resilience-based strategies with infrastructure investment and management options for agricultural water systems.

Yongsan river 4th agricultural comprehensive development project is being developed in order to strengthen the competitiveness in the southwest sea-side district, to construct the area for the special product and so on. Different from other development project, this project is to use water from its watershed by means of using regulating reservoirs, small reservoirs and farm ponds. but the number or regulating reservoirs, small reservoirs and farm ponds involved in this project are 7, 147 and 13 respectively. So it is necessary to develope the irrigation water management system for the purpose of efficient water use in Yougsan river fourth district. In this study, the irrigation water management system was developed and by using this system. efficient water using plans could be established.

This paper presents studies on the design of water hydraulic system and components to replace oil with tap-water as the pressure transmission medium in hydraulic systems. In order to improve the performance of water hydraulic system, the thermal and hydraulic properties of tap-water are first investigated. Based on these characteristics, the design parameters, such as the clearances of the moving parts, the cross-sectional area of pipes and relative roughness, are proposed so that the performance of water hydraulic system is the same as that of oil. In addition, the operating ranges, which show the possibility of using water hydraulic system, are examined.
Water cycle within the human civilization has become important with urbanization. To date, water cycle in the eco-system has been the focus in identifying the degree of water cycle in cities, but in practicality, water cycle within the human civilization system is taking on an increasing importance. While in recent years plans to reuse water have been implemented to restore water cycle in cities, the effect that such reuse has on the entire water cycle system has not been analyzed. The analysis on the effect that water reuse has on urban areas needs to be go beyond measuring the cost-savings and look at the changes brought about in the entire city's water cycle system. This study uses a SWAT model and water balance analysis to review the effects that water reuse has on changes occurring in the urban water cycle system by linking the water cycle within the eco-system with that within the human civilization system. The SWAT model to calculate the components of water cycle in the human civilization system showed that similar to measured data, the daily changes and accumulative data can be simulated. When the amount of water reuse increases in urban areas, the surface outflow, amount of sewer discharge and the discharged amount from sewage treatment plants decrease, leading to a change in water cycle within our human civilization system. The determinant coefficients for reduced surface outflow amount and reduced sewer discharge were 0.9164 and 0.9892, respectively, while the determinant coefficient for reduced discharge of sewage treatment plants was 0.9988. This indicates that with an increase in water reuse, surface flow, sewage and discharge from sewage treatment plants all saw a linear reduction.

In this study we developed a turbidity management system to support the operation for effective turbid water management. The decision-making system includes various models for prediction of turbid water inflow, effective reservoir operation using the selective withdrawal facility, analysis of turbid water discharge in the downstream. The system is supported by the intensive monitoring devices installed in the upstream rivers, reservoirs, and downstream rivers. SWAT and HSPF models were constructed to predict turbid water flows in the Imha and Andong catchments. CE-QUAL-W2 models were constructed for turbid water behavior prediction, and various analyses were conducted to examine the effects of the selective withdrawal operation for efficient high turbid water discharge, turbid water distribution under differing amount and locations of turbid water discharge. A 1-dimensional dynamic water quality model was built using Ko-Riv1 for simulation of turbidity propagation in the downstream of the reservoirs, and 2-dimensional models were developed to investigate the mixing phenomena of two waters discharged from the Andong and Imha reservoirs with different temperature and turbidity conditions during joint dam operation for reducing the impacts of turbid water.
The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics and the level of fourth grade elementary students' system thinking when they learn the unit of "Journey of Water" in terms of four key elements of system thinking such as understanding of the structure of a system, non-linearity and cyclic features, inter-relations and feedback between system properties, and temporal and invisible aspects of a system. Data included students' worksheets and their responses to a set of Likert-scaled and written assessment items on water cycle. The results showed that the level of students' system thinking did not have any hierarchy in relation to the key elements of water cycle system. In addition, the aspects of individual student's system thinking on its sub-elements were different from each other. Also, there were core ideas of system thinking which were intensively considered according to a given context to understand a complex systemic subject. When students learn water cycle, understanding of non-linearity and inter-relations were weaker compared with other key elements of system thinking. Therefore, if these two factors are taught in advance, it can promote understanding of whole system of water cycle.

Ground water source heat pumps are clean, energy-efficient and environment-friendly systems for cooling and heating. Although the initial cost of ground water source heat pump system is higher than that of air source, it is now widely accepted as an economical system since the installation cost can be returned within a short period of time due to its high efficiency. In a ground water source heat pump system, the variation of the ground water temperature is an important factor that influences the system performance. In this study, variation of the ground water temperature of a single well system is studied experimentally for various operating conditions. When ground water flow exists in the underground, the returned water exchanges heat efficiently with the ground and the temperature of the ground water remains nearly constant. Hence the short circuit problem is minimized. If an active flow of ground water flow exists in the underground, a singe well heat pumps system will be free of short circuit problem and can operate with high performance.
This study would present a risk analysis method to evaluate stable tap water supply in a multi-regional water supply system and propose a measure for the evaluation of the effect of the conjunctive operation of the multi-regional water supply system using this. Judging from the vulnerability for the crisis response of the entire N. multi-regional water supply system, as compared to the result of Scenario 1 in which no conjunctive pipes were operated, it was found that in Scenario 2, in which conjunctive pipes were partially operated, the vulnerability of crisis response decreased by about 30.6%, and as compared to Scenario 3, the vulnerability of crisis response decreased by 86.2%. In setting a plan for stable tap water supply in N multi-regional water supply system, using the estimated value and the method for the evaluation of the vulnerability of crisis response by pipe, by interval and by line, it is judged that this can be utilized as a basis for the judgment of the evaluation of the operation or the additional installation of conjunctive pipes.
In this study, it was proposed that a method of setting the target water quality for TOC using the watershed model and the load duration curves to manage non-biodegradable organics in the total water load management system. To simulate runoff and water quality of the watershed, the HSPF model is used which is appropriate for urban and rural areas. Additionally, the load duration curve is used to reflect the variable water quality correlated with various river flow rates in preparing the TMDL plans in the U.S. First, the model was constructed by inputting the loads calculated from the pollutant sources in 2015. After the calibration and verification process, the water quality by flow conditions was analyzed from the BOD and TOC simulation results. When the BOD achieved the target water quality by inputting the target year loads for 2020, the median and average values of TOC were proposed for the target water quality. The provisional method of TOC target water quality for the management of non-biodegradable organics, which is one of the challenges of the total water load management system, was considered. In the future, it is expected to be used as basic data for the conversion of BOD into TOC in the total water load management system.
Analyzing the water quality biologically by the biotic index ($\beta$) of Beck-Tsuda method, for four sites of the water system of Namcheon River which reaches a length of 19.5km and flows through the kyungsan-town and Namcheon-myun in Kyungsan-gun of the suburbs of Taegu and extends to the Gumho-river on the lower, the results are summarized as follows: 1) An indicator species collected from the water system of Namcheon River comprises 78 species. Among them, 27 species are intolerant species and 51 species are tolerant species to water pollution. 2) The water of 2 sites, Weondong-bridge, Sanjeon-iron bridge was clearly water, oligosaprobic zone. The water of Youngdae-bridge was slightly polluted water, $\beta$-measosaprobic zone. But the water of Maehoildong bridge was severely polluted water, polysaprobic zone. 3) The Namcheon River was mainly polluted with sewage from the kyungsan town, with industrial wastes and products from many factories surviving the town. 4) The pH wate system of Namcheon River was alkalescent. 5) The map showing a class of water quality analyzed biologically was also prepared for each site of the water system of Namcheon River, Kyungsan. 6) It is requested that a waste water disposal plant should be established near Youngdae-bridge and Maehoildong-bridge respectively.
