Amid growing interest in recycling around the world, the amount of waste is increasing despite the separate discharge efforts of each household, and it is difficult to find accurate data on recycling household waste. Also, recycling segregation is already settled in our daily lives, but we face a serious problem in which a significant portion of the recyclables collected are re-waste. In this study has been proposed a cash compensation system for recyclables, which is paid cash when the recyclables are washed clean and discharged. The cash compensation system proposed in this study could re-use 100% of the discharged recyclables, resulting in rewards for good deeds for individuals, greater returns for businesses and reduced disposal costs for local governments. In addition, it is expected that the government will be able to secure data related to the recycling of domestic waste, which will contribute to the management of recyclables at the national level.

By comparing the status quo of recycling of new energy vehicles and waste power batteries at home and abroad, analyze the central relationship between recycling of waste power batteries and the interaction between various factors in China, consider the characteristics of blockchain technology, organically integrate into the reverse recycling network, and quantify the relevant factors. Make use of the constructed model to simulate, forecast, and compare and analyze whether to adopt blockchain technology and, on this basis, analyze the intrinsic relationship between various variables. To explore the different effects brought by changing different countermeasures according to different subjects, and expand it to the factor analysis in the whole reverse recycling supply chain to help the government and operators and enterprises to make more objective and scientific decisions, to provide a particular reference for promoting the recycling of waste power batteries and the development of power battery manufacturing industry in China.
Since the import ban of plastic waste in China has been enforced, plastic wastes were not properly collected and recycled in Korea. Hence, the management strategies for plastic waste in Korea should be improved by examining the regulations and policy in developed countries such as United States, Japan, EU and United Kingdom. The management strategy for the recycling cycle should be implemented to expand the labeling system of separation and discharge, reduce the consumption of plastic products, automate the separation and sorting method in recycling facilities, and improve the economical efficiency of the recycling cycle. The concept of residual waste (secondary waste) in the material flow analysis should be implemented to identify the shortage point in the plastic waste stream. Finally, the cooperation with international communities is required for a transboundary movement of plastic waste, which includes participation at the working group of international standards to recycle plastic waste.
The main purposes of this study were to survey and assess the current situation surrounding solid waste generation in school foodservices, to identify and evaluate the measures(reduction and recycling programs) taken by the foodservices for waste disposal, and to suggest appropriate reform measures to improve the current status, especially in terms of environmental preservation. Questionnaires on solid waste management practices were mailed to 206 school foodservice dietitians in the Kyungbuk region : a 64.0%(N = 130) response rate was obtained. While there are food waste and packaging waste generated from the foodservice operations, about a third(34.1%) of the foodservice operations were responsible for the disposal of both the food wastes and packaging wastes. About 90% of school foodservice managers were responsible for managing solid wastes. The primary recycling methods of leftovers generated from the school food service operations were livestock feed(76.0%). About 60.0% of school foodservice managers conducted the food waste reduction program. The performance by the foodservice managers in reducing the food waste was not satisfactory in several fields, such as developing environmentally friendly menus or abiding by the standard recipe, etc. In addition, the government assistance system was not properly working in the food service management. In conclusion, we should focus on increasing the performance in reducing the food waste by the foodservice managers, strengthening and facilitating the government assistance system for the food waste management and to develop education methods and education materials for food waste management.

This research has looked into the treatment process of wood waste generated from industrial waste within the region and in order to modify the problem that may occurred during the mass balance were analyzed for development of suitable solid waste recycling network regionally. As as result, quite amount of wood waste are being transferred to another region, even though a treatment facility's capacity could bear the total amount of waste generated within the area. Although the wood waste could be treated locally, it is analyzed that amount of wood waste are being transferred due to inefficient and irrational processing system between regions. It is assumed that $CO_2$ generated and loss of unnecessary fuel cost from these inefficient system is quite a lot and in order to modify this disorganized system, it will not inevitable to treat the waste based on the characteristics of each regions. Also, the wood waste recycling system should be studied with the efficient, environmental friendly processing and delivering network by minimized transfer distance and local systemizing the waste treatment system.
Nowadays, countries all over the world are deeply concerned about pollution in the global environment, so they are seeking various ways to adequately disposal of waste. Still, the environmental situation seems to be getting worse and worse. It is evident that such wastes and pollution have been endangering human life nestled in this globe up to the end of the 20th century. We should not, however, tolerate such human misconduct and mal-management of resources any more in the new millenium. For realizing a society that is sustainable for generations to come, it is important to establish a social system for minimizing wastes, promote re-use and recycling, and develop technology for improving recycling efficiencies, including product designs that facil-itate re-use and recycling and innovative technologies for processing wastes. In this paper, reviewing the current status of Korean waste problems, the governmental policy and specific approach for the establishment for recycling society is considered.

This study is conducted to find out the problems of the public food waste recycling facility operation and its improvement. In order to save the national budget by analyzing plans to expand including operation rate for the food waste recycling facility, the alternative ways are suggested. The result can be as follows: Policy switch is required not only to save budget and stable disposal of food waste but also to promote resource recycling rather than expanding public facilities. In order to change the policy for stable and eco-friendly disposal of food waste, it is necessary to adopt semipublic system that prevent the decline of the rate of operation of private resource recycling facility. Furthermore, it is required to prepare both qualified technologies of public resource recycling and the ways of profitability secure.
A research was performed for zero discharge system of waste water which is produced from energy recovery process of waste and biomass. Leachate and all kinds of waste water should be separated and integrated into three categories in addition to converting existing leachate treatment facility into waste water treatment facility as well as introducing a management system of reverse osmosis membrane facility and bioreactor landfill. Following these conditions to better water treatment process, it was likely to produce over 3,000 tons of low-grade recycling water and 2,000 tons of high-grade recycling water per day when zero discharge system of waste water is applied starting from 2016. Economical efficiency was also surveyed in total treatment fee. Present system costs 18,129 million won per year, and suggested zero discharge system would cost 15,789 million won per year.

This study was on a recyling system of food waste using poultry and earthworms. Food waste was fed to the egg-raising hens(Gallus gallus) or ducks(Anas platyrynchos). And the excrement of poultry after ingestion of food waste was mixed with other organic waste such as paper mill sludge or night soil sludge, aged and then provided to the earthworms(Eisenia andrei). An egg-raising hen and a duck ate up 0.40kg and 0.79kg of food waste per day, respectively. And the percental rate of exctretion(the amount of excrement/the amount of food waste eaten up) of an egg-raising hen and a duck was 71.0% and 53.7%, respectively. The excrement of poultry that had been mixed with paper mill sludge and aged was vermicomposted more easily than the excrement that had been mixed with night soil sludge and aged. The excrement of poultry aged for more than 21 days was more suitable to vermicompost than the excrement of poultry aged for less than 21 days. Even though, the earthworm lost its biomass on the mixed feeds regardless of their aging periods, which was supposed to be caused by high salinity in poulty's excrements.
