The experiments for separation and recovery of CO$_2$ were conducted by aqueous sodium glycinate solution, which is one of the amino acid salts, as an absorbent of CO$_2$ in this study. Absorption capacities of aqueous MEA and sodium glycinate solution according to partial pressure of CO$_2$ were evaluated by vapor-liquid equilibrium tests of 20 wt% and 30 wt% above-mentioned absorbents, respectively. In addition, the pilot scale(2 t-CO$_2$/day) experiments based on prior results were carried out. As a result, CO$_2$ removal efficiency of aqueous sodium glycinate solution was lower than that of aqueous MEA solution. This phenomenon means that CO$_2$ removal efficiency of aqueous sodium glycinate solution mainly depends on its molecular structure. Consequently, the first application of certain amino acid salt, as an absorbent of CO$_2$, to pilot plant of 2 t-CO$_2$/day scale was carried out in our country.
Climate change causes ocean warming, ocean acidification, sea-level rise, dynamic coastal risk, change of ecosystem structure and function, and degradation of ecosystem services. Not only that, but it has negatively impacted the well-being of people, society, and culture, including food security, water resources, water quality, livelihood, health, welfare, infrastructure, transport, tourism, recreation, and so on, especially by particularly degrading indigenous communities and generating an inequitable distribution of benefits and costs. As pointed out here, these adverse impacts of climate change on the ocean have been emphasized at the international and national levels. In contrast, the ocean field has been neglected in the climate change conversation for too long. However, since the UNFCCC COP 25, the ocean has been drawn into the discussion as a solution to address climate change. Moreover, the U.S. Congress recently unveiled a bill called the 'Ocean-Based Climate Solution Act, OBCSA' that reflects the new paradigm of the international regime. The comprehensive legislative bill includes elements related to climate inequity, a blue economy, and a community-led bottom-up policy mechanism, which will have a significant bearing on the ocean-climate legal system. Therefore, this study reviews the OBCSA and deduces implications with regard to the ocean-climate legal system in Korea.
It has been reported that at low temperature region, poloxamers existed as a monomer. Upon warming, an equilibrium between unimers and micelles was established, and finally micelle aggregates were formed at higher temperature. In this study, the fluorescence spectroscopy was used to study the micelle formation of the poloxamer 407 in aqueous solution. The excitation and emission spectra of pyrene, a fluorescence probe, were measured as a function of the concentration of poloxamer 407 and temperature. A blue shift in the emission spectrum and a red shift in the excitation spectrum were observed as pyrene transferred from an aqueous to a hydrophobic micellar environment. From the $I_1/I_3 and I_{339}/I_{333}$ results, critical micelle concentration (cmc) and critical micelle temperature (cmt) were determined. Also, from the fluorescence spectra of the probe molecules such as 8-anilino-1-naphthalene sulfonic acid and 1-pyrenecarboxaldehyde, the blue shift of the $\lambda_{max}$ was observed. These results suggest a decrease in the polarity of the microenvironment around probe because of micelle formation. The poloxamer 407 above cmc strongly complexed with hydrophobic fluorescent probes and the binding constant of complex increased with increasing the hydrophobicity of the probe.
The mobility of groundwater in the soil environment has an important role in the soil environment and absorption of plant. Therefore, studies on the mobility of groundwater considering the physical and chemical properties of soil is very important. In this study, movement of water due to change in soil particle size were observed by capillary rise. The height of the capillaries was measured according to capillary diameter, temperature and solution concentration. The inner diameter of each capillary itself is 0.012, 0.016, 0.024, 0.027 cm, and experiments were performed at $22^{\circ}C$. As a result, the height of the capillaries decreased with increasing capillary diameter, and the solution temperature but increased with increasing concentration. Changes in the height of the capillaries are interpreted to related with surface tension by the Young-Laplace equation. Also on the mobility of groundwater, the increase of water and soil temperatures can be significant factors caused by ion strength and global warming as well as pores in the soil particles. The results of this study is considered to provide the basic data on the behavior of groundwater in the soil environment.

Increasing emission of $CO_2$ significantly effects the global warming. Chemical absorption is one of separation methods of $CO_2$ from the industrial flue gases. In this study, the $CO_2$ removal efficiency as well as the $CO_2$ absorption amount of aqueous AMP (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) solutions were measured using the continuous absorption and regeneration apparatus. We investigated the effect of aqueous AMP+AEPD(2-amino-2-ethyl-1, 3-propanediol) and AMP+TIPA (triisopropanolamine) solutions to enhance absorption characteristics of AMP. As a result of this study, the absorption amount and $CO_2$ removal efficiency were increased with adding TIPA into 30 wt.% AMP. The absorption amount and $CO_2$ removal efficiency of aqueous 30 wt.% AMP+5 wt.% TIPA solution were $1.70\;kg-CO_2/kg-absorbent$ and 91.1%, while those of aqueous 30 wt.% AMP solution were $1.58\;kg-CO_2/kg-absorbent$ and 89.3%. In addition, aqueous 30 wt.% AMP+5 wt.% TIPA solution used in the study revealed the high stripping efficiency, which was almost 98%, at the temperature of $110^{\circ}C$. Thus, the temperature of regenerator should be operated at $110^{\circ}C$.
Appeared in the 1970s he started the global warming problem of carbon reduction, unlike the expected withdrawal of the United States was anticipated to be nominal stripping. However, EU mainly carbon market, buy and sell rights to be disposed of evolution was born. In fact, the current reduction of the Kyoto Protocol, and Korea will be designated as the bureau had been scheduled. However, due to economic recession in Korea's status as exempt countries have enjoyed a considerable period. Global warming is a problem in earnest, however, the United States to participate in one or more such discussions since 2013, clearly this will begin the international order. And international order that is more stringent than expected, and is expected to be strong. Then, however, an interesting thing to justify protection of the environment in some countries to protect domestic industry, the movement is visible is the side. In fact the WTO since the conclusion of all non-tariff trade barriers were abolished. However, recently, New Round of the delay based on reciprocity and fair trade in the framework of environmental protection to justify the movement to protect the domestic industry has been captured. These trends are not friendly, never in Korea. The rationale is that these regulations are enforced, many of our countries and countries with significant trade transactions and the enforcement points. And South Korea's automotive, semiconductors, ships, etc. The main products are much discussed in the international regulations are being referred to as the target point is due. Korean government to actively participate in the international situation and efforts to explore new markets, said yesterday, and 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' was declared. And the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) recommendations of the best 30% reduction target was present. This is nothing different about this objection is true. A more fundamental solution to faithfully perform the reduction targets, while the development of environmentally friendly products and the incidence of international standards through the development and expansion of new growth engines, Indeed we are expected to be a fundamental methodology.
The most common deterioration cause of concrete structures in urban environment is carbonation. Recently, the $CO_2$ concentration and temperature at atmosphere is sharply increased with time due to global warming phenomena. In this study, the climate scenario IS92a, which was suggested by the IPCC, is used to consider temperature and atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration change in the model of service life prediction. The modified mathematical solution, which was based on the Fick's 1st law of diffusion, was used to reflect concrete materials properties such as the degree of hydration of concrete with elapsed time, and important parameters, which associated with deterioration rate. The techniques of service life prediction are developed introducing the method of reliability and stochastic concept to consider microclimatic condition in Seoul, South Korea. From the result of service life prediction, concrete containing high W/C ratio is shown fast carbonation rate due to $CO_2$ concentration increase. It is concluded that the deterioration of concrete structures due to carbonation is insignificant problem on the conditions that below W/C 55%, well curing concrete.

Global warming is happening now and inevitable. Everyone knows that immediate action should be taken to slow it down, but uncertain about the effective solution. Despite global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, sea levels are rising gradually. In 2013, Cornell University announced the Climate Action Plan(CAP) to make the campus greener, to reduce waste, and to ensure efficient use of resources. In particular, they set a goal of reducing energy use by 2050 and making carbon emissions to zero. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to analyse the case of the master plan of Cornell Tech campus and its major buildings. Mainly, The House, faculty and student housing of Cornell Tech and the world tallest certified passive house, will be the main precedent that shows the architectural planning of passive house. Passive house technology, which was thought to be possible only in single-family houses, can be applied to high-rise buildings. If any passive house technology of The House project is actively introduced into the dormitory projects of domestic universities that are about to be built or renovated, it will be a good opportunity for the university to take the lead in preparing for global warming.
The effect of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) on global warming is serious problem. The adsorption with solid sorbents is one of the most appropriate options. In this study, the most interesting adsorbent is granular activated carbon (GAC). It is suitable material for $CO_2$ adsorption because of its simple availability, many specific surface area, and low-cost material. Afterwards, GAC was impregnated with chitosan solution as impregnated granular activated carbon (CGAC) in order to improve the adsorption capacity of GAC. This research aims to compare the physical and chemical characteristics of GAC and CGAC. The experiment was carried out to evaluate the efficiency of $CO_2$ adsorption between GAC and CGAC. The results indicated that the iodine number of GAC and CGAC was 137.17 and 120.30 mg/g, respectively. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller results (BET) of both GAC and CGAC show that specific surface area was 301.9 and $531.3m^2/g$, respectively; total pore volume was 0.16 and $0.29cm^3/g$, respectively; and mean diameter of pore was 2.18 and 2.15 nm, respectively. Finally, the $CO_2$ adsorption results of both GAC and CGAC in single column how the maximum adsorption capacity was 0.17 and 0.25 mol/kg, respectively; how degeneration time was 49.6 and 80.0 min, respectively; and how the highest efficiency of $CO_2$ adsorption was 91.92% and 91.19%, respectively.
[ $SF_6$ ] gas has been widely used as an insulating, cleaning and covering gas due to its outstanding insulating feature and because of its inert properties. However, the global warming potential of $SF_6$ gas is extremely high relative to typical global warming gases such as $CO_2$, CFCs, and $CH_4$. For these reasons, it is necessary to separate and collect waste $SF_6$ gas. In this study, the effects of a surfactant (Tween) on the formation rate of $SF_6$ gas hydrates were investigated. The $SF_6$ gas hydrate formation rate increased with the addition of Tween and showed a nearly 6.5 times faster hydrate formation rate with an addition of 0.2 wt.% Tween compared to an addition of pure water. This is believed to be due to the increased solubility of $SF_6$ gas with the addition of the surfactant. It was also found that $SF_6$ gas hydrate in the surfactant solution showed two-stage hydrate formation rates with a formation rate that increased rapidly in the 2nd stage.
