  • The protection sequence of an AC/DC converter for an ITER PF coil system is developed in this study. Possible faults in the coil system are simulated and the results reflected in the design of a sequence to protect the coil and converter. The inductances of the current sharing reactors and thyristor numbers in parallel with the bridge arms are optimized with the designed protection sequence.

  • High-precision autonomous localization technique is essential for future Mars rovers. This paper addresses an innovative integrated localization algorithm using a multiple information fusion approach. Firstly, the output of IMU is employed to construct the two-dimensional (2-D) dynamics equation of Mars rover. Secondly, radio beacon measurement and terrain image matching are considered as external measurements and included into the navigation filter to correct the inertial basis and drift. Then, extended Kalman filtering (EKF) algorithm is designed to estimate the position state of Mars rovers and suppress the measurement noise. Finally, the localization algorithm proposed in this paper is validated by computer simulation with different parameter sets.

  • Stromal cell-derived factor (SDF-1) is a CXC chemokine that selectively activates the CXCR4 chemokine receptor. Fibronectin is an intracellular matrix component that binds integrin and mediates cell-matrix adhesion. Activation of the integrin receptor can occur in two ways: by ligand binding (outside-in signaling), and in response to intracellular events (inside-out signaling). In the current study we showed that SDF-$1{\alpha}$ inhibited adhesion of T lymphocyte Jurkat cells resulting from binding high concentrations of fibronectin as well as that of THP-1 monocytes. The effect of SDF-$1{\alpha}$ on fibronectin-mediated adhesion was partly reversed by the CXCR4 receptor antagonist T140. Our results suggest that an SDF-1/CXCR4 signal pathway modulates fibronectin-mediated lymphocytes adhesion.

  • Since constrained optimization algorithms are easy to fall into local optimum and their ability of searching are weak, an improved symbiotic organisms search algorithm with mixed strategy based on adaptive ε constrained (ε_SOSMS) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, an adaptive ε constrained method is presented to balance the relationship between the constrained violation degrees and fitness. Secondly, the evolutionary strategies of symbiotic organisms search algorithm are improved as follows. Selecting different best individuals according to the proportion of feasible individuals and infeasible individuals to make evolutionary strategy more suitable for solving constrained optimization problems, and the individual comparison criteria is replaced with population selection strategy, which can better enhance the diversity of population. Finally, numerical experiments on 13 benchmark functions show that not only is ε_SOSMS able to converge to the global optimal solution, but also it has better robustness.

  • According to the characteristics of salvo attack for the multiple flight vehicles (MFV), the design of cooperative guidance law can be converted into the consensus problem of multi-vehicle system through the concept of multi-agent cooperative control. The flight vehicles can be divided into leader and followers depending on different functions, and the flight conditions of leader are independent of the ones of followers. The consensus problem of leader-follower multi-vehicle system is researched by graph theory, and the consensus protocol is also presented. Meanwhile, the finite time guidance law is designed for the flight vehicles via the finite time control method, and the system stability is also analyzed. Whereby, the guidance law can guarantee the line of sight (LOS) angular rates converge to zero in finite time, and hence the cooperative attack of the MFV can be realized. The effectiveness of the designed cooperative guidance method is validated through the simulation with a stationary target and a moving target, respectively.

  • PLC and its expansion module, electric ball valve and cooling pipe, electric heating steel plate and various components of the system, which is used to control test and process data. By automatically adjusting the opening of the valve, the system makes the top temperature and cooling speed develop along the ideal temperature diachronic curve. Moreover, the system enables the temperature difference between inside and surface of test block limited in a given range by automatically controlling the surface board heating. The method of physical simulation test by sandbox with built-in cooling water pipe and heating rod is adopted. On the premise of a given standard value, the operation of the system is checked under different working conditions. Further, an extension of this system is proposed, which enables its application to obtain some thermal parameters when cooperating with numerical simulation.

  • Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is described as abnormalities of myocardial structure and function in diabetic patients without other well-established cardiovascular factors. Although multiple pathological mechanisms involving in this unique myocardial disorder, mitochondrial dysfunction may play an important role in its development of DCM. Recently, considerable progresses have suggested that mitochondrial biogenesis is a tightly controlled process initiating mitochondrial generation and maintaining mitochondrial function, appears to be associated with DCM. Nonetheless, an outlook on the mechanisms and clinical relevance of dysfunction in mitochondrial biogenesis among patients with DCM is not completely understood. In this review, hence, we will summarize the role of mitochondrial biogenesis dysfunction in the development of DCM, especially the molecular underlying mechanism concerning the signaling pathways beyond the stimulation and inhibition of mitochondrial biogenesis. Additionally, the evaluations and potential therapeutic strategies regarding mitochondrial biogenesis dysfunction in DCM is also presented.

  • Engineering structures usually suffer from cracks. The crack geometry has an influence on the structural mechanical properties and subsequent crack propagations. However, as an extensively utilized method in fracture analysis, the extended finite element method provided by Abaqus fails to output the specific location and dimensions of fractures. In this study, a technique to capture the crack geometry is proposed. The technique is based on the invariant level set method (I-LSM), which can avoid updating the level set function during crack development. The solution is achieved by an open-source plug-in programmed by Python. Three examples were performed to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the program. The result shows that the developed program can accurately output the crack geometry in both the 2D and 3D models. The open-source plug-in codes are included as supplementary material.

  • The spatial variability of geotechnical properties can lead to the uncertainty of settlement for frozen soil foundation around the oil pipeline, and it can affect the stability of permafrost foundation. In this paper, the elastic modulus, cohesion, angle of internal friction and poisson ratio are taken as four independent random fields. A stochastic analysis model for the uncertain settlement characteristic of frozen soil foundation around an oil pipeline is presented. The accuracy of the stochastic analysis model is verified by measured data. Considering the different combinations for the coefficient of variation and scale of fluctuation, the influences of spatial variability of geotechnical properties on uncertain settlement are estimated. The results show that the stochastic effects between elastic modulus, cohesion, angle of internal friction and poisson ratio are obviously different. The deformation parameters have a greater influence on stochastic settlement than the strength parameters. The overall variability of settlement reduces with the increase of horizontal scale of fluctuation and vertical scale of fluctuation. These results can improve our understanding of the influences of spatial variability of geotechnical properties on uncertain settlement and provide a theoretical basis for the reliability analysis of pipeline engineering in permafrost regions.
