  • An analysis on the steady-state has been made of flow of a compressible fluid rapidly-rotating in a pipe. The flow is induced by an small arbitrary azimuthally-varying thermal forcing added on the basic state of rigid body isothermal rotation. The system Ekman number is assumed to be very small value. Analytic solutions have been obtained for axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric types, in which the axisymmetric solution comes from the azimuthally-averaged wall boundary condition and the non-axisymmetric solution from fluctuating wall boundary condition.

사각용기에서 발생하는 고점성 유체의 슬로싱 유동 (Sloshing Flow of Highly-Viscous Fluid in a Rectangular Box)

  • A study on the sloshing flow of highly-viscous fluid in a rectangular box was made by both of theoretical approach and experimental visualization method. Assuming a smallness of external forcing to oscillate the container, it was investigated a linear sloshing flow of highly-viscous fluid utilizing asymptotic analysis by Taylor-series expansion as a small parameter Re (≪1) in which Re denotes Reynolds number. The theory predict that, during all cycles of sloshing, a linear shape of free surface will prevail in a bulk zone and it has confirmed in experiment. The relevance of perfect slip boundary condition, adopted in theoretical approach, to the bulk zone flow at the container wall was tested in experiment. It is found that quasi-steady coated thin film, which makes a lubricant layer between bulk flow and solid wall, is generated on the wall and the film makes a role to perfect slip boundary condition.

  • Numerical analyses were performed to investigate the characteristics of regenerator in oscillating flow by using moving boundary method and Darcy model. In this work, periodic adiabatic boundary condition was suggested as the boundary condition of adiabatic part so that the effects of the thermal inertia of the wall could be considered. In carrying out numerical analyses, two models were applied and compared. One called isotropic model has the same thermal conductivity in radial and axial directions within a porous media. The other called aeolotropic model has different conductivity in each directions. Isotropic model could not show the advantage of energy reduction which needs to maintain constant wall temperature difference between heater and cooler. But aeolotropic model could simulate the reduction of energy consumption.

  • A method of deminishing low frequency noise by acoustic acoupling with compliant wall is described. The coupled governing equations and boundary conditions are derived and solved. The coupled system shows very interesting behavior in the low frequency region; in the low frequency, acoustic wave doesn't propagate, but decay to satisfy the boundary condition with the compliant wall. Henceforth using this mechanism, we propose a method of reducing low frequency noise, which is infact related with the physical properties of compliant wall. The method has been experimentally verified.

Effect of the polymer wall boundary condition on the dynamic and memory behavior of the ferroelectric liquid crystal

  • In this research, we examined the correlation between the polymer wall boundary condition and the dynamic/ memory behavior of the ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) molecules. It was shown that the polymer wall perpendicular to the rubbing direction induces asymmetric switching to the rubbing direction and induce smaller cone angle angle of LC. On the contrary, in the cell with polymer wall parallel to the rubbing direction, the FLC molecules are oriented in the rubbing direction and shows symmetric switching and has larger cone angle. Memory behavior of each cell has strong correlation with the dynamic state of the FLC molecules. Response time of each cell was also examined.

연직차수벽의 비정상 지하수 흐름에 대한 이론해 : 순간변위시험(slug test) 적용과 투수계수 산정 (Analytical Solution for Transient Groundwater Flow in Vertical Cutoff Walls : Application of Slug Test and Evaluation of Hydraulic Conductivity)

  • 순간변위시험(slug test) 결과를 이용하여 비정상 흐름을 고려한 연직차수벽의 투수계수를 평가할 수 있는 이론해는 지금까지 제시된 바가 없다. 무한 대수층에 부분 관입된 우물(well)형상에 적용 가능하도록 기존 문헌에서 제시한 이론해는 좁은 지중연속벽체 형상의 연직차수벽의 경계조건을 고려할 수 없다. 이러한 연직차수벽 경계조건을 고려하기 위해, 본 연구에서는 가상 우물이론(imaginary well theory)을 도입하여 두 가지 경계조건(즉, 일정 수두 조건과 불투수 조건)을 만족하도록 새로운 이론해를 유도하였다. 제안된 이론해를 이용하여 구한 연직차수벽에서 시간에 따른 수위 회복 곡선(Type Curve)을 무한 대수층의 경우와 비교한 결과, 일정 수두 경계조건을 적용할 경우, 우물의 수위 회복이 무한 대수층의 결과보다 빠르게 진행되고 반면에 불투수 경계조건을 적용할 경우는 더 느리게 진행되었다. 또한, 우물의 형상비가 클수록, 연직차수벽의 폭이 좁을수록, 우물의 편심 정도가 클수록, 연직차수벽과 주변 지반 사이의 경계조건의 영향이 커진다. 본 논문에서 제시한 이론해를 통해 산정된 Type Curve는 기존 문헌에서 수치해석을 통해 산정된 Type Curve와 유사한 경향을 보였다.

  • Non-equilibrium first order extrapolation boundary condition proposed by Guo et $al.^{(9)}$ proposed has a good application for complex geometries, a second order accuracy and a treatment on non-slip wall boundary condition easily. However it has a lack of the numerical stability from high Reynolds number. Guo et $al.^{(9)}$ substituted the density value of adjacent nodes for the density of boundary nodes. This procedure causes the numerical instability on the boundary. In this paper, we derived a procedure of density extrapolation and compared to previous results.

  • With uniform heat generation from the inner surface of the cylindrical heater placed in a cross flow boundary condition, heat flow that is conducted along the wall of the heater creates a non-isothermal surface temperature and non-uniform heat flux distribution. In the present investigation, the effects of circumferential wall heat conduction on convection heat transfer is investigated for the case of forced convection around horizontal circular tube in cross flow of air. The wall conduction number which can be deduced from the governing energy equation should be used to express the effect of circumferential wall heat conduction. It is demonstrated that the circumferential wall heat conduction influences local Nusselt numbers of one-dimensional and two-dimensional solutions.

  • The lattice Boltzmann (LB) method has been used to simulate rarefied gas flows in a micro-system as an alternative tool. However, previous results were mainly focused on a simple geometry with flat walls because the LB method is modeled on uniform Cartesian lattices. When previous boundary conditions for the microflows are applied to curved walls, the use of them requires approximation of the curved boundary by a series of stair steps, and introduces additional errors. For macroflows, no-slip curved wall boundary treatments have been developed remarkably in order to overcome these limits. However, the investigations for the slip curved wall boundary have rarely been performed for microflows. In this work, a curved boundary treatment of the LB method for a slip flow has been introduced. The results of the LB method for 2D microchannel and 3D microtube flows are in excellent agreement with the analytical solutions.

단부 증타 보강된 RC 전단벽체의 전단강도 (Shear Strength of Retrofitted RC Squat Wall by Additional Boundary Element)

  • 내진 보강 공법의 보강효과 파악을 위해선 이에 대한 이론적 규명이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 단부에 기둥 부재를 증타한 단근 배근된 전단벽체를 대상으로 해 보강되는 기둥의 상세와 일체화 거동을 고려한 전단강도 모델을 제안했다. 이 모델은 증타된 기둥부재의 전단변형이 집중되는 길이를 가정해 이를 일체화된 벽체 내에 발생하는 스트럿 두께 산정에 이용했다. 뿐만 아니라 이 길이 내에 집중 발생하는 전단변형률을 유도, 이를 일체화 거동을 고려한 적합성 조건을 기존 전단벽체의 해석 알고리즘에 도입함으로써 증타 보강된 벽체의 해석 알고리즘을 새로이 제안했다. 또한 제안된 알고리즘을 통해 계산된 전단강도로 횡력 저항 메커니즘을 단일 스트럿 화 시켜줌으로써 보강부재의 초기강성을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 방법의 타당성을 확인하기 위해 해석 결과 값을 본 연구에서 수행한 증타 보강된 벽체를 대상으로 한 실험뿐만 아니라 기존 RC 골조 내에 RC 전단벽체를 신설해 보강한 실험의 결과와 비교해 본 결과, 기둥부재의 상세를 고려하면서 동시에 기존 기준들에 비해 실험결과에 가깝게 예측할 수 있음을 확인했다.
