점성토 지반에 설치되는 앵커로 지지된 널말뚝의 내진설계 (Seismic Design of Anchored Sheet Pile Walls in c-0 Soils)

  • 본 연구에서는 항만공사에 이용되는 앵커로 지지된 널말뚝의 내진설계를 위한 해석방법의 제시가 이루어 졌다. 제시된 해석방법은 지진하중시의 동수압을 포함하였으며, 침투에 의한 영향을 고려할 경우에도 적용이 가능하다. 또한 적용범 위는 모래 및 점성토(c-0 soil)로 이루어진 지반의 경우이고, 자유지지법을 토대로 하였다. 아울러, 널말뚝 양쪽면의 수위차, 앵커의 위치, 벽마찰각, 준설저면의 경사각, 부착력, 점착력 등이 근입깊이, 앵커하중 및 최대모멘트에 미치는 영향을 제시된 해석방법을 토대로 분석하였다. 이외에도 서로 다른 안전율 정의에 관한 비교 및 내진설계시의 유의 사항에 대한 검토가 이루어 졌다.

친수성/소수성 수평 표면상에서의 액적이송 메커니즘 (Droplet Transport Mechanism on Horizontal Hydrophilic/Hydrophobic Surfaces)

  • 유체이송 기술은 최근 마이크로 유체시스템 개발에서 핵심문제로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 최근 저자가 제안한 외부동력을 사용하지 않고 액적을 이송시킬 수 있는 새로운 개념인 친수성/소수성 수평 표면에서의 액적이송을 자체개발 코드(PowerCFD)를 사용하여 수치해석하였다. 수치해석에 사용된 코드는 보존적인 압력기반 유한체적방법에 기초한 비정렬 셀 중심 방법 및 VOF 방법에 체적포착법인 CICSAM을 채용하고 있다. 액적 내 및 주위의 속도벡터, 압력분포 및 전체운동에너지와 같은 수치해석 결과를 제시하고 이 결과들을 통해 액적이송 메커니즘을 규명하였다.

  • The objective of this work is not only to perform feasibility studies on the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis for the capillary system design but also to provide an enhanced understanding of the autonomous capillary flow. The capillary flow is evaluated by means of the commercial CFD software of FLUENT, which includes the VOF (volume-of-fluid) model for multiphase flow analysis. The effect of wall adhesion at fluid interfaces in contact with rigid boundaries is considered in terms of static contact angle. Feasibility studies are first performed, including mesh-resolution influence on pressure profile, which has a sudden increase at the liquid/gas interface. Then we perform both 2D and 3D simulations and examine the transient nature of the capillary flow. Analytical solutions are also derived for simple cases and compared with numerical results. Through this work, essential information on the capillary system design is brought out. Our efforts and initial success in numerical description of the microfluidic capillary flows enhance the fundamental understanding of the autonomous capillary flow and will eventually pave the road for full-scale, computer-aided design of microfluidic networks.

천식에서 기도평활근의 증식과 합성 반응에 대한 최신지견 (Proliferative and Synthetic Responses of Airway Smooth Muscle in Asthma)

  • New evidence is emerging that airway smooth muscle(ASM) may act as an immunomodulatory cell by providing pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, polypeptide growth factors, extracellular matrix proteins, cell adhesion receptors and co-stimulatory molecules. ASM can promote the formation of the interstitial extracellular matrix, and potentially contribute to the alterations within the extracellular matrix in asthma. In addition, extracellular matrix components can alter the proliferative, survival, and cytoskeletal synthetic function of ASM cells through integrin-directed signaling. Increased ASM mass is one of the most important features of the airway wall remodeling process in asthma. Three different mechanisms may contribute to the increased ASM mass : cell proliferation, increased migration and decreased rate of apoptosis. The major signaling pathways of cell proliferation activated by ASM mitogens are those dependent on extracellular signal-regulated kinase and phosphoinositide 3'-kinase. The key signaling mechanisms of cell migration have been identified as the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and the p21-activated kinase 1 pathways. ASM cells contain ${\beta}2$-adrenergic receptors and glucocorticoid receptors. They may represent a key target for ${\beta}2$-adrenergic receptor agonist/corticosteroid interactions which have antiproliferative activity against a broad spectrum of mitogens.

개에서 복강내 잔존한 거즈 이물의 진단영상 (Diagnostic Imaging Features of Abdominal Foreign Body in Dogs; Retained Surgical Gauze)

  • This study was performed to describe the radiographic and ultrasonographic features of retained surgical gauze known as gossypiboma in 9 dogs. Female dogs (n = 8) were at higher risk and seven out of the eight cases had a history of ovariohysterectomy. Seven dogs were symptomatic and the most common clinical signs were vomiting, anorexia, and inertia. A palpable abdominal mass was detected in six dogs. Radiographic signs included a localized abdominal mass with soft tissue density (n = 7) or a mass containing speckled gas (n = 1). Ultrasonography showed a hypoechoic mass with a hyperechoic center (n = 4), or a homogeneous hypoechoic mass (n = 3). The remaining dogs (n = 2) showed an intestinal wall surrounding a hyperechoic center. Regardless of the characteristics of a mass, an acoustic shadowing was accompanied from the center of a mass in all dogs. Ultrasonography also revealed complications such as adhesion between a mass and adjacent organs, and peritonitis and intestinal obstruction around a mass. The gossypiboma can be considered when a hypoechoic mass accompanying a hyperechoic center with acoustic shadowing is observed on ultrasound examination.

Analytical Electron Microscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy Reveal a Physical Mechanism of Silicon-Induced Rice Resistance to Blast

  • Locations of silicon accumulation in rice leaves and its possible association with resistance to rice blast were investigated by analytical electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. A blast-susceptible cultivar, Jinmi, and partially resistant cultivars, Hwaseong and Suwon345, were grown under a hydroponic culture system with modified Yoshida's nutrient solution. Electron-dense silicon layers were frequently found beneath the cuticle in epidermal cell walls of silicon-treated plants. Increasing levels of silicon were detected in the outer regions of epidermal cell walls. Silicon was present mainly in epidermal cell walls, middle lamella, and Intercellular spaces within subepidermal tissues. Furthermore, silicon was prevalent throughout the leaf surface with relatively small deposition on stomatal guard cells in silicon-treated plants. Force-distance curve measurements revealed relative hardness and smaller adhesion force in silicon-treated plants (18.65 uN) than control plants (28.39 uN). Moreover, force modulation microscopy showed higher mean height values of elastic Images In silicon-treated plants(1.26 V) than in control plants (0.44 V), implying the increased leaf hardness by silicon treatment. These results strongly suggest that silicon-induced cell wall fortification of rice leaves may be closely associated with enhanced host resistance to blast.

초소형 연소기를 위한 촉매 합성, 담지방법 및 담지체 (Catalyst Preparations, Coating Methods, and Supports for Micro Combustor)

  • Catalytic combustion is one of the suitable methods for micro power source due to high energy density and it can be applied to micro structured chamber without consideration of quenching since it is flameless combustion. Catalyst loading in the micro structured combustion chamber is one of the most important issues in the development of micro catalytic combustors. In this research, to coat catalyst on the chamber wall, two methods were investigated. First, $Al_2O_3$ was selected as a support of Pt and $Pt/Al_2O_3$ was synthesized through the alumina sol-gel procedure. To improve the coating thickness and adhesion between catalyst and substrate, heat resistant and water solvable organic-inorganic hybrid binder was used. Porous silicon was also investigated as a catalyst support for platinum. Through the parametric studies of current density and etching time, fabrication process of $1{\sim}2{\mu}m$ of diameter and about $25{\mu}m$ depth pores was confirmed. Coated substrates were test in the micro channel combustor which was fabricated by the wet etching and machining of SUS 304. Using $Pt/Al_2O_3$ coated substrate and Pt coated porous silicon substrate, conversion rate of fuel was over 95 % for $H_2/Air$ premixed gas.

Planar Flow Casting의 퍼들 형성에 관한 수치해석 (A Numerical Study of the Melt Puddle Formation in the Flow Casting,)

  • In the planar flow casting(PFC) process, the conditions of the melt puddle between nozzle and rotating wheel affect significantly the quality and dimensional uniformity of the downstream ribbon. For stable puddle formation, the nozzle is placed very close to the quenching wheel, so the surface-tension and wall-adhesion forces have an important effect upon the fluid flow.\`In this study the planar flow casting process has been mode]ed using the VOF method for free surface tracking. The transient puddle formation from the present analysis shows good agreements with the previous experimental results. Furthermore, the variation of melt temperature and the corresponding cooling rate of the melt have been examined. The present results also show how the melt puddle can be farmed on the rotating substrate, how the melt flows within the puddle, and how the changes of the process variables affect the puddle formation and its corresponding fluid flow and heat transfer behavior.

식도의 중부계실: 1례 보고 (A Traction Diverticulum of the Mid-thoracioc Esophagus: A Case Report)

  • The typical traction diverticulum of the mid-thoracic esophagus is conical or funnel shaped with a wide orifice, is small (rarely exceeding 2cm in length), and is situated horizontally or extends superiorly. It is a true diverticulum, having a complete investment by the esophageal muscle coats. Each of these characteristics promotes easy emptying of the diverticulum. Since food accumulation is presented, there is no tendency to progressive enlargement of the sac, and no associated dysphagia. The diverticula of mid-esophagus rarely develop and rarely produce symptoms. When symptoms develop, they are usually caused by granulomatous infections of the mediastinal lymph nodes. And also such diverticula only rarely give rise to significant complications, the most serious of which is a tracheobronchial fistula. Generally when such complications develop or a diverticulum itself produces symptoms, moderate or severe, surgery intervenes. A case of mid-esophageal diverticulum, traction type, which surgically treated with good results, was experienced at the Department of Thoracic Surgery of Kyung-Pook University. School of Medicine. In this case, there were substernal discomfort, acid regurgitation, and back pain for about 6 months. On the operative findings, it was noticed that the diverticulum was developed by traction and adhesion of perihilar nodes to the esophageal wall. The diverticulum was a small finger tip size and the neck of it was obscure. The surrounding inflammatory change was minimal.

Zirconala 용사된 Hastelloy X의 고온산화거동 (A Study on the high temperature oxidation behavior of zirconia plasma coatings on Haselloy X)

  • Finned segment, with which are lined inner wall of the turbine combustors, are subject to severe degradation when they are exposed to a hostile environmment at elevated temperature. To protect the finned segment from this environment and to maintain good mechanical properties of components at high temperature, they are preferred to be coated. The most governing factor for the durability of coatings used in the high temperature is the microstructure of coatings; these are splat from, distibution of microcacks, size and distribution of pores, thickness of coating layer, adhesion between coating layer, and oxidation of band coating. In this study, based on the evaluation of the imported finned segment, new finned segment segment was manufactured with optimum plasma spraying parameters, and their properties were examined. Using $ZrO_2(8wt$Y_2O_3)$,/TEX> powder for ceramic coating and 67Ni-22Cr-10Al-0.5Y mixing powder for bond coating, thickness of ceramic and bond coating layer were varied in order to find optimum condition, the results showed that B2T4(bond coating : 100~250$\mu\textrm{m}$, ceramic coating : 250~300$\mu\textrm{m}$) was the best among the specimens tested. Compared to the imported finned segment, B2T4 has better bond strength, hardness, and isothermal and cyclic oxidation resistance.
