걷기운동 프로그램에 의한 복부 내장지방의 감량과 대사증후군 위험인자 간의 관련성 (The Correlations of Walking Exercise Program-Induced Abdominal Visceral Fat Loss with Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 비만 중년여성을 대상으로 12주간의 걷기운동 후 복부 지방 감량 정도의 차이와 대사증후군 위험인자 개선 간의 관련성을 조사하는데 있었다. 걷기 운동 프로그램은 주당 3회 12주간 실시하였다. 12주간의 걷기운동 후 피험자들의 복부 내장지방 감량 정도의 차이에 따라 복부 내장지방 감량이 많은 상위 25% 집단(n=8)과 복부 내장지방 감량이 적은 하위 25%(n=8)으로 집단을 구분하였다. 12주간의 걷기 운동 프로그램 전후 복부내장지방 감량 정도에 따른 집단 간 대사증후군 위험인자(허리둘레, 중성지방, 고밀도지단백 콜레스테롤, 공복시혈당, 혈압)는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 12주간의 걷기 운동 실시 후 총 복부 지방과 내장지방의 감량 정도는 허리둘레, 혈압(SBP, DBP)과 정적인 상관관계가 나타났고, 피하지방의 감량 정도는 허리둘레와 혈압(SBP)과 정적인 상관관계가 나타났다.

트레드밀 걷기운동이 40대 중년여성의 골밀도 및 체질량지수에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Treadmill Walking Exercise on BMD and BMI in Middle-Aged Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of treadmill walking exercise on the BMD (Bone Mineral Density) and BMI (Body Mass Index) of middle-aged women in their forties. Method: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used for this study. The experiment was conducted for 10 weeks from May 17 to July 25, 2004 with 29 middle-aged women in their forties, who were assigned to a walking exercise group (16) or a control group (13). The experimental group had not exercised regularly before participating in this program. The control group received no exercise treatment during the research period. The BMD and BMI were measured with peripheral dual energy x-ray absorptiometry and bioelectrical impidence analysis, respectively. $X^2-test$ and Mann-Whitney U test with the SPSS version 11.0 program were used to analyze the data. Result: Treadmill walking exercise was effective for middle-aged women in increasing BMD and decreasing BMI. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate a need to develop walking exercise protocols for middle-aged women to help them achieve a healthy life.

  • This paper has regarded mechanism design of cane-like passive type walking aid for the elderly using 3-RPS parallel manipulator. First, gait patterns of the elderly have been experimented. By means of motion capturing and image processing, we decided loaded forces and places of the cane when the elderly walked with a cane. Using these results we have developed a passive type walking aid. Second, the walking pattern has been simulated using dynamic analysis program, ADAMS and we find out the similarity between the real walking and the simulated walking. Finally after assuring the similarity, with adjusting the new mechanism design to the simulated walking we will decide whether the walking aid is safe and stable when the elderly walks with this cane-like walking aid. This paper will be basis for the development of the mechanism design applying 3-RPS parallel manipulator.

  • For stable walking of various biped walking robots(BWR), we need to know the kinematics, dynamics and the Zero Moment of Point(ZMP) which are not easy to analyze analytically. In this reason, we developed a simulation program for BWRs composed of 4 degree-of-freedom upper-part body and 12 degree-of-freedom lower-part of the body. To operate the motion simulator for analyzing the kinematics and dynamics of BWES, inputs for the distance between legs, base angle, choice of walking type, gaits, and walking velocity are necessary. As a result, if stability condition is satisfied by the simulation, angle data for each actuator are generated automatically, and the data are transmitted to BWRS and then, they are actuated by the motion data. Finally, we validate the performance of the proposed motion simulator by applying it to a constructed small sized BWR.

신발 유형과 행동 과제에 따른 보행 속도 분석 (Analysis of Walking Speed According to Shoe type and Behavioral tasks)

  • Purpose. Walking depends on the speed and type of shoe to be worn, and the degree of impact varies with the muscle used. In addition, the speed can be changed by moving objects and using objects when walking. This study analyzed the change of walking speed by applying various factors influencing walking. Methods. A total of 60 patients who had not undergone musculoskeletal diseases during the last 1 year were included. Shoe type was divided into slippers and shoe heels. Behavioral types were divided into bagging, books, and cell phone use. The walking speed was measured by the general walking, the middle walking, and the fast walking. The time was measured using a 10M linear distance test. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS program for independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA. Results. There was a statistically significant difference according to the type of shoes when walking. Walking speed was slow in shoe heel. In addition, There was statistically significant difference according to type of behavior task at walking. Walking speed was slow in task type using mobile phone during walking. Conclusions. The walking speed were appeared difference in each type of shoe heel, using mobile phone.

Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Disease Severity and Walking Ability in Patients with Parkinson's Disease

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the effects of aerobic exercise on the severity of disease and walking ability in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods: Twelve patients with Parkinson's disease participated in the study. Participants were randomly assigned to either an aerobic exercise group (n=6) or a self-exercise group (n=6). All participants underwent treadmill training for 30 minutes. In addition, the experimental group (aerobic exercise group) and control group (self-exercise group) participated in a 30 minutes exercise program. In both groups, exercise was performed five times a week for four weeks. Outcome including disease severity (Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale) and walking ability (10 m walking speed test, 6 minutes walking test, timed up-and-go test) were measured at baseline and after 4-weeks. Results: Significant differences in disease severity and walking ability were observed between the pre- and post-exercise groups (p<0.05). The improvement of disease severity and walking endurance was significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that aerobic exercise is effective at improving disease severity and walking endurance in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Effects of Various Types of Bridge Exercise on the Walking Ability of Stroke Patients

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of various bridge exercises on walking ability. Method: The subjects were 30 stroke patients. They were divided into a bridge exercise group on a stable support surface (Group I), a bridge exercise group on an unstable support surface (Group II), and a bridge exercise group combined with whole body vibrations (Group III). 10 subjects were randomly assigned into each group. The subjects of this study had 30 minutes of nervous system physical therapy including gait training and strength training. In addition, each group underwent a 30 minutes session five times a week for eight weeks. Before intervention, LUKOtronic was used to measure step width and step length, time was measured with a 10 m walking test, and time and number of steps were measured with the figure 8 walking test. After the intervention, remeasured and analysis was performed for each group. Results: As a result of comparing and analyzing the change of walking ability between groups, there was a statistically significant difference. As a result of the post hoc analysis according to the change of walking ability among groups, the change of walking ability was larger in Group III than in Group I and Group II. Conclusion: Based on these results, it is confirmed that the bridge exercise combined with whole body vibration was more effective for walking ability. Based on these findings, this study proposes an effective program for elite athletes as well as stroke patients.

이족 보행로봇의 균형추 형태에 따른 안정성 해석 (A Stability Analysis of a Biped Walking Robot about Balancing Weight)

  • This paper is concerned with a balancing motion formulation and control of the ZMP (Zero Moment Point) for a biped-walking robot that has a prismatic balancing weight or a revolute balancing weight. The dynamic stability equation of a walking robot which have a prismatic balancing weight is conditionally linear but a walking robot's stability equation with a revolute balancing weight is nonlinear. For a stable gait, stabilization equations of a biped-walking robot are modeled as non-homogeneous second order differential equations for each balancing weight type, and a trajectory of balancing weight can be directly calculated with the FDM (Finite Difference Method) solution of the linearized differential equation. In this paper, the 3dimensional graphic simulator is developed to get and calculate the desired ZMP and the actual ZMP. The operating program is developed for a real biped-walking robot IWRⅢ. Walking of 4 steps will be simulated and experimented with a real biped-walking robot. This balancing system will be applied to a biped humanoid robot, which consist legs and upper body, as a future work.

  • 본 논문에서는 키 42cm, 몸무게 1.5kg으로 총 16 자유도를 가진 소형 인간형 로봇의 개발에 관하여 소개한다. 인간형 로봇은 많은 자유도를 가지기 때문에 개발을 쉽게 하기 위하여 제어가 간단한 RC 서보 모터를 구동기로 사용한다. 개발된 로봇은 또한 머리에 소형 디지털 카메라를 장착하고 있어서 주변의 환경에 대한 영상 데이터를 원격지에 있는 호스트 컴퓨터에 무선 모뎀을 통하여 전송할 수 있다. 개발된 로봇은 직진 보행, 회전 보행 등의 평지 보행뿐만 아니라 계단 보행도 수행할 수 있다. 로봇의 움직임을 생성하고 사전에 모의 실험해 볼 수 있는 그래픽 시뮬레이션프로그램과 경로 생성 프로그램은 호스트 컴퓨터에서 구동된다. 실험을 통하여 개발된 로봇이 계단 보행을 수행할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of a rehabilitation exercise program on physical function and mental health status in chronic stroke Patients with hemiparesis Method: This study used a single group experimental design with repeated measures. Data collection and intervention were done from August, 2004 to November. 2004 at a community. Participants were fifteen patients (mean age: 68.6), and a 100 meter walking time and box and block tests were conducted at baseline, 4weeks, and post-intervention (8weeks) Activities of daily living and the levels of depression and anxiety were measured by using SCL-90-R at pre and post Intervention. This program consisted of 1 hour individual exercise 3 times a week for 8 weeks, and it focused on stretching, walking, arm and hand exercise, and hand massage. Result: 1. ADL, IADL, and the 100m walking time in the patients were improved compared with baseline. However. box and block tests was not shown significant improvement compared with baseline. 2. Depression and anxiety scores were improved more than that of baseline. Conclusion: The rehabilitation exercise program can be effective in improving physical function and mental health status, and it has a potential for improving Physical health status in Patients with chronic stroke hemiparesis.
