Background : The objective of this study was to understand sleep-related problems, and to determine whether the sleep questionnaires is a clinically useful method in patients who need polysomnography. Methods : Subjects were patients who performed polysomnography and who asked to answer a sleep questionnaires at the Sleep Disorders Clinic of St. Paul's Hospital, Catholic University of Korea. Baseline characteristics, past medical illness, behaviors during sleep-wake cycle, snoring, sleep-disordered breathing and symptoms of daytime sleepiness were analyzed to compare with data of polysomnography. Results : The study population included 1081 patients(849 men, 232 female), and their mean age was $44.2{\pm}12.8years$. Among these patients, 38.9% had an apnea-hypopnea index(AHI)<5, 27.9% had $5{\leq}AHI<20$, 13.2% had $20{\leq}AHI<40$, and 20.0% had $40{\leq}AHI$. The main problems for visiting our clinic were snoring(91.7%), sleep apnea(74.5%), excessive daytime sleepiness(8.0%), insomnia(4.3%), bruxism(1.1%) and attention deficit(0.5%). The mean value of frequency of interruptions of sleep was 1.6 and the most common reason was urination(46.3%). Epworth Sleepiness Scale(ESS) had a weak correlation with AHI(r=0.209, p<0.01). When we performed analysis of sleep questionnaires, there were significant differences in the mean values of AHI according to the severity of symptoms including snoring, daytime sleepiness, taking a nap and arousal state after wake(p<0.05). Conclusion : On the basis of statistical analysis of sleep questionnaires, the severity of subjective symptoms such as ESS, snoring, daytime sleepiness and arousal state after wake correlated with the AHI significantly. Therefore the sleep questionnaires can be useful instruments for prediction of the severity of sleep disorder, especially sleep-disordered breathing.
Upper ocean response to typhoon Ewiniar (0603) and its impact on the following typhoon Bilis (0604) are investigated using observational data and numerical experiments. Data used in this study are obtained from the Ieodo Ocean Research Station (IORS), ARGO, and satellite. Numerical simulations are conducted using 3-dimensional Princeton Ocean Model. Results show that when Ewiniar passes over the western North Pacific, unique oceanic responses are found at two places, One is in East China Sea near Taiwan and another is in the vicinity of IORS. The latter are characterized by a strong sea surface cooling (SSC), $6^{\circ}C$ and $11^{\circ}C$ in simulation and observation, under the condition of typhoon with a fast translation speed (8m $s^{-1}$) and lowering intensity (970 hPa). The record-breaking strong SSC is caused by the Yellow Sea Bottom Cold Water, which produces a strong vertical temperature gradient within a shallow depth of Yellow Sea. The former are also characterized by a strong SSC, $7.5^{\circ}C$ in simulation, with a additional cooling of $4.5^{\circ}C$ after a storm's passage mainly due to enhanced and maintained upwelling process by the resonance coupling of storm translation speed and the gravest mode internal wave phase speed. The numerical simulation reveals that the Ewiniar produced a unfavorable upper-ocean thermal condition, which eventually inhibited the intensification of the following typhoon Bilis. Statistics show that 9% of the typhoons in western North Pacific are influenced by cold wakes produced by a proceeding typhoon. These overall results demonstrate that upper ocean response to a typhoon even after the passage is also important factor to be considered for an accurate intensity prediction of a following typhoon with similar track.

Interactions between a propeller and vortex system contained in a ship stern flow is treated theoretically. A new formulation to determine the effective velocity distributions is developed, which may be immediately applicable to the design and analysis of compound propulsors under the influence of severe vortical cross-flows around ship stern. An axisymmetric shear flow is represented by a system of ring vortices and the axial variation of the stream lines due to the action of propeller is represented by a cubic function. The strengths of ring vortices, which are varying along the stream lines, are determined by the conservation of angular momentum. Two simplified effective velocity models are proposed to confirm the theory. Sample calculations using the simplified models are made to compare with the results by other investigators.

For the understanding of the complex flow characteristics in the counter-rotating axial flow fan, it is necessary to investigate the three-dimensional unsteady flow fields in the counter-rotating axial flow fan. This information is also essential for the prediction of the aerodynamic and acoustical characteristics of the counter-rotating axial flow fan. Experimental study on the three-dimensional unsteady flow in the counter-rotating axial flow fan is carried out at the design point(operating condition). Three-dimensional unsteady flow fields in the counter rotating axial flow fan are measured at the cross-sectional planes of the upstream and downstream of each rotor using the $45^{\circ}$ inclined hot-wire. Three-dimensional unsteady flow fields in the counter-rotating axial flow such as the wake, the tip vortex and the tip leakage flow are shown the form of the velocity vectors and the velocity contours.

A three-dimensional parallel Euler flow solver has been developed for the simulation of unsteady rotor-fuselage interaction aerodynamics on unstructured meshes. In order to handle the relative motion between the rotor and the fuselage, the flow field was divided into two zones, a moving zone rotating with the blades and a stationary zone containing the fuselage. A sliding mesh algorithm was developed for the convection of the flow variables across the cutting boundary between the two zones. A quasi-unsteady mesh adaptation technique was adopted to enhance the spatial accuracy of the solution and to better resolve the wake. A low Mach number pre-conditioning method was implemented to relieve the numerical difficulty associated with the low-speed forward flight. Validations were made by simulating the flows around the Georgia Tech configuration and the ROBIN fuselage. It was shown that the present method is efficient and robust for the prediction of complicated unsteady rotor-fuselage aerodynamic interaction phenomena.

Interests on energy saving devices (ESDs) have been increased with the concern of the energy efficiency design index (EEDI) developed by the international maritime organization (IMO). To study the influence of ESDs, KVLCC2 with energy saving pre-swirl stator (PSS) was selected. To validate the computations, computed nominal wake of the model scale ship was compared with the experimental data, and the numerical uncertainty assessment was done for the full scale ship computations. The PSS changed rotational flow, which was assistant to the propeller thrust for the model and full scale ships. Performances of the full scale ships were predicted by ITTC methods, and new prediction method was proposed.

This research presents the influence of the base region modeling on the aerodynamic characteristics of a launch vehicle using CFD. The vicinity of a launch vehicle is divided into four zones, and four computational cases are made using these four zones. The aerodynamic coefficients are predicted for the angle-of-attack of 6 degrees and Mach numbers ranging from 0.4 to 2.86. It was found that modeling of the base region should not be neglected for the prediction of the aerodynamic characteristics of a launch vehicle in subsonic and transonic regions. It was also found that the modeling of the sting support used in the wind tunnel test is necessary to get a better agreement with the experiments.

This paper employs computational tools to predict power increase (or speed loss) and propulsion performances in waves of KVLCC2. Two-phase unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations have been solved using finite volume method; and a realizable k-ε model has been applied for the turbulent closure. The free-surface is obtained by solving a VOF equation. Sliding mesh method is applied to simulate the flow around an operating propeller. Towing and self-propulsion computations in calm water are carried out to obtain the towing force, propeller rotating speed, thrust and torque at the self-propulsion point. Towing computations in waves are performed to obtain the added resistance. The regular short head waves of λ/LPP = 0.6 with 4 wave steepness of H/λ = 0.007, 0.017, 0.023 and 0.033 are taken into account. Four methods to predict speed-power relationship in waves are discussed; Taylor expansion, direct powering, load variation, resistance and thrust identity methods. In the load variation method, the revised ITTC-78 method based on the 'thrust identity' is utilized to predict propulsive performances in full scale. The propulsion performances in waves including propeller rotating speed, thrust, torque, thrust deduction and wake fraction, propeller advance coefficient, hull, propeller open water, relative rotative and propulsive efficiencies, and delivered power are investigated.

In the wake of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the problem of career education in schools has become a big issue. While various studies are being conducted on services or technologies to effectively handle artificial intelligence and big data, in the field of education, data on students is simply processed. Therefore, in this paper, we are going to design and present career prediction programs for students using artificial intelligence and big data. Using observational data from students at the institute, the decision tree is constructed with the C4.5 algorithm known to be most intelligent and effective in the decision tree and is used to predict students' path of hope. As a result, the coefficient of kappa exceeded 0.7 and showed a fairly low average error of 0.1 degrees. As shown in this study, a number of studies and data will be deployed to help guide students in their consultation and to provide them with classroom attitudes and directions.

For the reliable prediction of maneuverability of a ship, lots of captive model tests have been carried out for over 10 years. But the parameters appearing in the mathematical model are so versatile and showing complex characteristics, and it is still hard to establish the useful formulae that we can adopt directly in the design stage. In this paper, the most important parameters in the mathematical model. i.e.($1-\omega_P$) the effective wake fraction at propeller, and $\delta_R(\beta_R)$), the effective rudder inflow angles are investigated by the captive model tests at the circulating water channel. The model is tested at designed speed and at low speed, and the drafts at both full load and ballast load conditions are taken. Propeller thrusts and rudder normal forces are measured at the given drift angle and propeller revolution. These forces are used for the analysis of the effective flow velocity or flow direction, to the propeller or rudder.
