The Isolation and Identification of Valuable Bacteria for Removal of Nitrogen and Phosphate in Municipal Waste Water (도시 하수내 질소와 인의 제거균주 분리 및 동정에 관한 연구)

  • Bacterial strains which have excellent removal capacity of phosphate or reduction capacity of were isolated from waste water. Among isolated strains. WR8 and WR1 strains were showed goood efficiency in removal of phosphate and reduction of respectively. When each strain was cultivated in waste water, WR8 strain removed about 85% of phosphate and WR1 strain reduced about 85% of -N. By the result of investigation of morphological and physiological characteristics, WR8 was identified as Aeromonas hydrophila and WR1 as Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Heterophil / Lymphocyte Response and Performance of Feed and Water Restricted Broiler Chickens under Tropical Conditions

  • The effects of restricting feed [60% of ad libitum (AL) intake] (FR) or water provided from 0900 h to 1600 h, daily) (WR) or both (FWR) from 14 to 42 days of age on heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L) response and performance in broiler chickens under the hot humid tropical conditions were determined. Feed and/or water limitation retarded growth, but had no adverse effect on overall feed conversion ratio and survivability. The trend for total feed and water consumption was similar to body weight pattern with AL>WR>FR>FWR. The nutritional regimens had significant effect on overall water:feed ratios with FR>(AL=WR)>FWR. Restriction of feed and/or water resulted in marked elevation of H/L ratios. As measured by H/L ratios, the effect of adapting to FR dissipated between 16 to 21 days after the onset of feed restriction. The H/L ratios of WR and FWR birds remained elevated throughout the duration of the experiment.

77 GHz Waveguide VCO for Anti-collision Radar Applications (차량 충돌 방지 레이더 시스템 응용을 위한 77 GHz 도파관 전압 조정 발진기)

  • In this work, we demonstrated a 77 GHz waveguide VCO with transition from WR-12 to WR-10 for anti-collision radar applications. The fabricated waveguide VCO consists of a GaAs-based Gunn diode, a varactor diode, a waveguide transition, and two bias posts for operating as a LPF and a resonator. The cavity is designed for fundamental mode at 38.5 GHz and operated at second hormonic of 77 GHz. The waveguide transition has a 1.86 dB of insertion loss and -30.22 dB of S11 at the center frequency of 77 GHz. The fabricated VCO achieves an oscillation bandwidth of 870 MHz. Output power is from 12.0 to 13.75 dBm and phase noise is -100.78 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency from the carrier.

Wide Band Microstrip line-to-Rectangular Waveguide Transition Using a Radial Probe for Millimeter-wave Applications (밀리미터파 응용을 위해 Radial 프로브 마이크로 스트립-웨이브 가이드 광대역 천이기)

  • In this work, a broadband microstrip (MSL) - to - waveguide (WR12) transition has been presented for millimeter-wave module applications. For improvement of a bandwidth, the radial MSL electrical-probe is designed on the low-loss organic dielectric substrate. The designed and tested characteristics of the proposed transition are characterized in terms of an insertion and return loss. Considering the loss contribution of the cable adapter and waveguide transition for the measurement, the proposed transition loss can be analyzed as -1.88 and -2.01 dB per a transition at 70 and 80 GHz, respectively. The bandwidth of the proposed transition for reflection at -10 dB is 26 GHz at all test frequencies from 67 to 95 GHz. Compared to the state-of-the-art results, improvement of 8.3 % is achieved for the operation bandwidth.

A Study on the Properties of Concrete Using Water Reducing Agent (감수제(減水劑)를 사용(使用)한 콘크리트의 제성질(諸性質)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • This study was performed to obtain the basic data which can be applied to the use of concretes. The data was based on the properties of concrectes depending upon water-cement ratios and addings to compare those of plain concrete. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. In case the proper quantity of water reducing agent was added, unit weight of water is decreased to 12.9% with WR-LG of water reducing set standarding agent and to 8.6% with HF-SP of high fluid agent and to 17.2% with AH-WR of water reducing set accelerating agent, respectively, as compared with plain concrete. With the increase of water reducing agent content unit weight of water was greatly decreased. 2. The adding rate of water reducing agent which produce maximum strength was 0.2% with WR-LG and 0.4% with HF-SP and AH-WR, respectively. The increasing rates of strengths were showed that WR-LG is 24.1% and that HF-SP is 41.8% and that AH-WR is 43.3%, respectively, as compared with plain concrete. 3. The correlations between compressive and tensile strength were highly significant as a straight line. the multiple regression equations of compressive and tensile strength were computed with the variables of curing age and addition of water reducing agent. They were highly significant. 4. In case the proper quantity of water reducing agent was added, the correlations between water-cement ratio and compressive strength were highly significant as a straight line. The increasing rates of strength were showed higher than the decreasing rates of water cement-ratio.

  • 본 논문에서는 소프트웨서 개발 과정에서 얻은 설계정보들을 웹 위에서 참조하고 파악할 수 있도록 구축한 환경에 대해 기술한다. 이를 위해, 개발 과정에서 얻은 설계 정보들을 웹 검색 구조에 맞도록 변화하는 과정과, 여기에서 얻어진 여러 형식의 많은 정보들을 저장하고 유지하기 위한 웹 저장소(WR: Web Repository), 그리고 WR내에 구축된 분석 정보들을 보이고, 개발자의 요구에 따라 분석 정보들을 제어하기 방안을 설명하다. 개발 환경은 Solaris 2.5에서 Tcl/Tk와 C++를 활용하여 구현하며, 클라이언트의 애플릿(applet) 개발을 위해 tclet을 활용한다.

  • We designed and manufactured Ka-band SSPA include drive amplifier and high power amplifier MMICs by $0.15{\mu}m$ GaN commercial process. Also, we fabricated main components micro-strip line to WR28 waveguide transition and WR28 wave guide power combiner for Ka-band SSPA. This Ka-band SSPA shows saturated output power 44.2 dBm, power added efficiency 16.6 % and power gain 39.2 dB at 29~31 GHz frequency band.

Altered Cerebral Vasomotion with Decreased CGRP Level in Pial Arteries of Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

  • The study aims to identify the mechanism (s) underlying the altered vasodilatory responses of the pial artery of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) under a hypothesis that calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) exerts a modulator role in the autoregulation of cerebral blood flow (CBF). The animals were divided into four groups: 1) Sprague-Dawley rats (SDR), 2) Wistar rats (WR), 3) SHR with high blood pressure $(BP{\ge}150\;mmHg),$ and 4) SHR with normotensive BP $({\le}150\;mmHg).$ The lower limit of CBF autoregulation in SHR shifted to a higher BP $(82.8{\pm}9.3\'mmHg,\;P<0.05)$ than that in SDR $(58.9{\pm}5.7\;mmHg)$. In SHR, whether the BP levels were high or normotensive, the vasodilator responses to a stepwise hypotension were significantly attenuated unlike with SDR and WR. When artificial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) containing capsaicin $(3{\times}10^{-7}\;M)$ was suffused over the cortical surface, a transient increase in pial arterial diameter was observed in the SHR with high or normotensive BP. In contrast, SDR and WR showed a large increase in diameter, and the increase was sustained for over 10 minutes. In line with these results, the basal releases of CGRP-like immunoreactivity (CGRP-LI) in the isolated pial arteries from SHR with high and normotensive BP were $12.5{\pm}1.4\;and\;9.8{\pm}2.8\;fmole/mm^2/60\;min\;(P<0.05)$, while those from SDR and WR were $25.5{\pm}3.1\;and\;24.6{\pm}3.1\;fmole/mm^2/60\;min,$ respectively. The isolated basilar arteries showed similar results to those of the pial arteries in SHR. Thus, it is summarized that, in the SHR, the reduced autoregulatory vasodilator responses to stepwise hypotension and capsaicin may be, in part, ascribed to the decreased release of CGRP from the perivascular sensory nerve fibers of the pial arteries, and that altered vasomotor activity in SHR may not be related with the hypertensive tone.

Genetic parameters for worm resistance in Santa Inês sheep using the Bayesian animal model

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to estimate the genetic parameters for worm resistance (WR) and associated characteristics, using the linear-threshold animal model via Bayesian inference in single- and multiple-trait analyses. Methods: Data were collected from a herd of Santa Inês breed sheep. All information was collected with animals submitted to natural contamination conditions. All data (number of eggs per gram of feces [FEC], Famacha score [FS], body condition score [BCS], and hematocrit [HCT]) were collected on the same day. The animals were weighed individually on the day after collection (after 12-h fasting). The WR trait was defined by the multivariate cluster analysis, using the FEC, HCT, BCS, and FS of material collected from naturally infected sheep of the Santa Inês breed. The variance components and genetic parameters for the WR, FEC, HCT, BCS, and FS traits were estimated using the Bayesian inference under the linear and threshold animal model. Results: A low magnitude was obtained for repeatability of worm-related traits. The mean values estimated for heritability were of low-to-high (0.05 to 0.88) magnitude. The FEC, HCT, BCS, FS, and body weight traits showed higher heritability (although low magnitude) in the multiple-trait model due to increased information about traits. All WR characters showed a significant genetic correlation, and heritability estimates ranged from low (0.44; single-trait model) to high (0.88; multiple-trait model). Conclusion: Therefore, we suggest that FS be included as a criterion of ovine genetic selection for endoparasite resistance using the trait defined by multivariate cluster analysis, as it will provide greater genetic gains when compared to any single trait. In addition, its measurement is easy and inexpensive, exhibiting greater heritability and repeatability and a high genetic correlation with the trait of resistance to worms.

Development of a Cavity Stabilized Gunn Oscillator at 24 GHz (24 GHz 공진기 안정화 Gunn 발진기 개발)

  • A cavity stabilized Gunn oscillator at 24 GHz has been developed with WR-42 waveguide structure by HFSS simulation. The oscillator has been optimized by using a circular iris and cap resonator structure. This oscillator needs 4.5 V DC voltage / 1.2 A current and produces a maximum +21.27 dBm RF power at 24.0675 GHz.
