In this paper, the basic design study of a water-cooling jacket, which have reported no cases for applying to railway traction motors so far, were conducted for applying to Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) for railway vehicles. The basic thermal characteristics analysis of the 110kW-class IPMSM was performed by using 3-dimentional thermal equivalent network method. The necessary design requirements of the water-cooling jacket were derived by analyzing the results of the basic thermal properties. Next, the thermal characteristics analysis technique was established by using the equivalent model of the solenoid-typed pipe to be installed on the inside of the water-cooling jacket for 110kW-class IPMSM. Finally, a design model of 6kW-class water-cooling jacket was derived through the analysis of various design parameters.

Histone deacetylase(HDAC), a neuclear enzyme that regulates gene trascription and the assembly of newly synthesized chromatin, has received much attention in recent literature. The explosion of activity in this field has yielded the cloning of a mammalian gene which encodes a complementary histone acetyl trasferases. Several cyclic tetrapeptide inhibitors of HDAC has been reported to affect the hyperacetylation of mammalian and plant histones. Apicidin, a natural product HDAC inhibitor recently isolated at Merck Research Laboratories, induces therapeutic applications as a broad spectrum antiprotozoal agent to multi-drug resistant malaria and a potential antitumor agnet. The biological activity of apicidin appears to be attributable to inhibition of apicocomplexan HDAC at low nanomolar concentrations.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of liquid calcium(LC) on the quality of kimchi during fermentation. LC retarded the decreasing rate of pH and the increasing rate of titratable acidity during fermentation at $10^{\circ}C$, and the effect was more conspicuous at $7.0\%(v/w)$ than at $3.5\%(v/w)$ in each LC type. Microbial counts of total and lactic acid bacteria were lower in LC added kimchi than control before 8 days but higher in LC added kimhi after 8 days. Changes in color of a value were gradually increased, but L and b value were decreased. Calcium content of added LC on kimchi; A concentration $3.5\%(v/w),\;7.0\%(v/w)$ were $103{\sim}110\;mg\%,\;145{\sim}163\;mg\%$ and B concentration $3.5\%,\;7.0\%$ were $140{\sim}151\;mg\%,\;210{\sim}220\;mg\%$.

In this paper, we obtain the general solution and the stability of the cubic functional equation f(2x + y, 2z + w) + f(2x - y, 2z - w) = 2f(x + y, z + w) + 2f(x - y, z - w) + 12f(x, z). The cubic form $f(x,\;y)\;=\;ax^3\;+\;bx^2y\;+\;cxy^2\;+\;dy^3$ is a solution of the above functional equation.
