This study was performed to examine the effect of various alcoholic drinks used for the preparation of Yakwa dough on the quality characteristics of Yakwa. The effects were compared with the ones prepared with water in terms of expansion ratio, micro-structure, mechanical and sensory characteristics. The dough with alcoholic drinks produced Yakwa samples with increased volume and pores compared with the dough of water. The cohesiveness, springiness, and gumminess were decreased in the samples with alcoholic drinks, but the brittleness was increased. The Yakwa samples with alcoholic drinks were evaluated better in sensory characteristics of nice-smelling, softness, and acceptability compared with the ones of water. There were no differences in the quality of Yakwa among the alcoholic drinks used.

Growth behaviors of iron-nitride on S45C steels at low pressure gas nitriding were examined. Surfaces of the steels covered with fine and porous oxide during the pre-oxidation using $N_2O$ gas. Well faceted particles connected with them were observed after 1 min nitriding. They grew steadily and filled inter-pores during additional nitriding process. From the X-ray diffraction analysis, ${\gamma}'$-iron nitride was dominantly formed at the initial stage but the amount of ${\varepsilon}$-iron nitride was rapidly increased as nitriding treatment time. The porous layer was formed on the particles and thickened up to half of nitride layer after 60 min nitriding. The observed growth behaviors were discussed in internal stress related with volume expansion involved in transforming from iron to iron-nitrides.
Even the finest cement as having a specific surface area of 6.000~8.500$\textrm{cm}^2$/g (Blaine) is to convert into low-porosity hardened cement paste by the use of appropriate plasticizer. In this study, tests were carried out on such a special cement mix(fineness of 6.000$\textrm{cm}^2$/g, Ca-lignosulfonate plus k2CO3 as plasticizer and W/C=0.25) in comparison with ordinary Portland cement. Owing mainly to the high fineness of the cement powder and the low water-to-cement ratio, the hardened low-porosity cement paste showed a very tight microstructure, the pore texture of which consisted of micropores and wide pores only of small radii. The consequence of such mix was hence that the low-porosity special cement had excellent properties of early-high and very high strengths as compared to ordinary Portland cement. Its volume change when dried in the air or re-wetted, exhibited superor behaviour as well.

Membrane Technology, which has been in use for over twenty five years, has established itself as one of the principle separation methods. With improved technology, Reverse Osmosis ("RO") has been applied to large volume water treatment facilities. UF and MF Membrane Technology has, up until recently, been applied to small scale water treatment facilities. The fouling of membrane has restricted the growth of Membrane Technology in Water Treatment. Membrane fouling compound found in water causes the loss of flux across the membrane by absorbing to membrane and plugging their pores. Various methods have been used in the reduction and prevention of membrane fouling. For RO, a conventional pre-treatment system removes the pollutants, preventing the function decline of RO membrane by keeping SDI < 4 as the standard condition of feed water. UF and MF Membrane Technology that must have pre-treatment function within itself, are required to keep its ability not to be influenced by fouling.y fouling.
A numerical and computer simulation for dynamic stability analysis of graded porous nanoplates has been provided using a Chebyshev-Ritz-Bolotin approach. The nanoplate has been formulated according to the nonlocal elasticity and a 3-unkown plate model capturing neutral surface location. All of material properties are assumed to be dependent of porosity factor which determines the amount or volume of pores. The nano-size plate has also been assumed to be under temperature and moisture variation. It will be shown that stability boundaries of the nanoplate are dependent on static and dynamical load factors, porosity factor, temperature variation and nonlocal parameter.
We performed molecular dynamics simulations on the conventional MOF, IRMOF-14 and the catenated MOF with two MOF chains, IRMOF13, to find out rational design and synthetic strategies toward efficient hydrogen storage materials. The molecular dynamics calculations were done using Universal force fields and the analysis of result was performed during the NVE dynamics after preliminary NVT dynamics at 77K. The results showed the density of adsorbed hydrogen molecules was increased in the various pores created by catenation of MOFs while the large amount of volume in conventional MOF was not effectively utilized to store hydrogen. Those calculation results commonly showed the proper control of pore si Be for hydrogen storage into MOF by catenation would be one of the efficient ways to increase hydrogen capacity of MOFs.
In this paper, the physical neutral surface concept is applied to study the wave propagation of functionally graded (FG) circular plate, the wave equation is derived by Hamiltonian variational principle and the first-order shear deformation plate model. Then, we convert the equations to dimensionless equations. The exact solution of wave propagation problem is obtained by Laplace integral transformation, the first order Hankel integral transformation and the zero order Hankel integral transformation. The results obtained by the current model are very close to those obtained in the existing literature, which indicates the correctness and reliability of this study. Moreover, the effects of the functionally graded index parameters and pore volume fraction on the wave propagation are also discussed in detail.

A strategy for the synthesis of more stable and large periodic mesoporous organo-silica materials has been developed for the 2D hexagonal mesoporous organosilica by the core-shell approach using nonionic PEO-PLGA-PEO triblock copolymer templates. The BET surface area of the solvent-extracted hexagonal mesoporous organosilica is estimated to be 1,016 ㎡/g and the pore volume, pore diameter, and wall thickness are 1.447 ㎤/g, 65 Å, and 43 Å, respectively. More hydrophobic PLGA block than the PPO block used for templates of mesoporous silica proves to be quite effective in confining the organosilicates within the PEO phase. Reaction temperature and acid concentration of an initial solution as well as the chemical nature of the bloc k copolymer templates also demonstrate to be important experimental parameters for ordered organosilica mesophase. Moreover, the mesoporous organosilicas prepared with the PEO-PLGA-PEO block templates maintain their structural integrity for up to 25 days in boiling water at 100℃. The mesoporous materials with large pores and high hydrothermal stability prepared in this study has a potential for many applications.
The frost heaving pressure can be a problem for weakening of the railway roadbed material. This study was initiated to investigate the soils frost heaving pressure and physical characteristics(Liquid limit, permeability, SEM analysis) resulting from freezing and freezing-thawing cycle process. Therefore, upon freezing a saturated soil in a closed-system from the top, a considerable pressure was developed. Weathered granite soils, sandy soil were used in the laboratory freezing test which sometimes subjected to thermal gradients under closed-systems. The frost heaving pressure arising within the soil samples and the temperature of the samples inside were monitored with elapsed time. The degree of saturation versus heaving pressure curve is also presented for weathered granite soil and the maximum pressure is closely related to this curve. Based on the laboratory test results, fine-grained soils with strong attractive forces between soil grains md water molecules, and additional water is attracted into the pores leading to further volume changes and ice segregation.

In order to investigate the role of bacterial chemotaxis in root colonization, the chemotaxis potential of bacteria isolated from spinach roots was compared with that of bacteria from nonhizosphere soil, with reference to the plant age (1,000 isolates), soil moisture conditons (1,400 isolates), and part of the root (200 isolates). The % CT (% occurrence of chemotaxis (+) isolates among total bacterial isoltes) of the root isolates significantlyfluctuated during the plant growth period, reaching a maximum after 10-15 days of growth. At this time period, the maximum % CT for the root isolates was around 70-80% CT under a soil moisture 50% WFP (% volume of water-filled pores in total soil pores), and then gradually reduced with an increasing % WFP. The results of the chemotaxis potential of each of the 100 islates from the spinach roots and nonrhizosphere soil under various % WFP demonstrated that the % CT of the root isolates were significantly higher than those of solates from the nonrhizosphere soil under a wide range of soil moisture content (35-80% WFP). Furthermore, the % CT value (80%) from the upper root was significantly higher than tht (55%) from the lower root. Compared with the % CT values of the roots, the values from the nonrhizosphere soil did not significantly vary relative to the plant age of % WFP. These results indicate that chemotaxis would appear to be a major factor in bacterial root colonization.
