A numerical method for simulating tree surface flows including the surface tension is presented. Numerical scheme is based an a fractional-step method with a finite volume formulation and the interface between liquid and gas is tracked by Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. Piecewise Linear Interface Calculation (PLIC) method is used to reconstruct the interface and the surface tension is considered using a Continuum Surface Force (CSF) model. Several free surface flow phenomena were simulated to show its effectiveness to find such phenomena.

In many industrial applications, multiphase flow analysis is the norm rather than an exception as compared to more-conventional single-phase investigation. This paper describes the implementation of the multiphase flow simulation capability in the general purpose CFD software AVL FIRE/SWIFT. The governing equations are discretized based on a finite volume method (FVM) suitable fur very complex geometry, The pressure field is obtained using the SIMPLE algorithm. Depending on the characteristics of the multiphase flow to be examined, the user can choose either the two-fluid model or an explicit interface-tracking model based on the Volume-of-Fluid approach. For truly 'multi'-phase flow problems, it is also possible to apply a hybrid model where certain phases are explicitly tracked while the other phases are handled by the two fluid model. In order to demonstrate the capability of the method, applications to the Taylor bubble flow simulations are presented.
A volume capturing method using unstructured grid system for numerical analysis of multiphase flows is introduced in the present paper. This method uses an interface capturing method (CICSAM) in a volume of fluid(VOF) scheme for phase interface capturing. The novelty of CICSAM lies in the adaptive combination of high resolution discretization scheme which ensures the preservation of the sharpness and shape of the interface while retaining boundedness of the field, and no explicit interface reconstruction which is perceived to be difficult to implement on unstructured grid system. Several typical test cases for multiphase flows are presented, which are simulated by an in-house solution code(PowerCFD). This code employs an unstructured cell-centered method based on a conservative pressure-based finite-volume method with CICSAM. It is found that the present method simulates efficiently and accurately complex free surface flows such as multiphase flows.
Interaction between fluid flow and thermal radiation has received considerable attention due to its numerous applications in engineering field. In this case the thermofluid properties of radiating fluid vary with the variation of temperature field caused by absorption and emission of radiant heat. To analyze the radiation heat transfer in radiating fluid, the simultaneous solution of the radiative transfer equation (RTE) and the fluid dynamics equations is required. This means that the numerical procedure used for the RTE must be computationally efficient to permit its inclusion in the other submodels, and must be compatible with the other transport equations. The finite volume method (FVM) and the discrete ordinates method (DOM) are usually employed to simulate radiation problems in generalized coordinates. These two representative methods are examined and compared, especially in view of the numerical integration of the radiation intensity over solid angle. The FVM shows better accuracy than the DOM owing to less constraints of the selection of control angle.

This paper deals with the instability analysis of concrete pipes conveying viscous fluid-nanoparticle mixture. The fluid is mixed by $AL_2O_3$ nanoparticles where the effective material properties of fluid are obtained by mixture rule. The applied force by the internal fluid is calculated by Navier-Stokes equation. The structure is simulated by classical cylindrical shell theory and using energy method and Hamilton's principle, the motion equations are derived. Based on Navier method, the critical fluid velocity of the structure is calculated and the effects of different parameters such as fluid velocity, volume percent of nanoparticle in fluid and geometrical parameters of the pipe are considered. The results present that with increasing the volume percent of nanoparticle in fluid, the critical fluid velocity increase.
In this study, vibration and stability of concrete pipes reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) conveying fluid are presented. Due to the existence of CNTs, the structure is subjected to magnetic field. The radial fore induced with fluid is calculated using Navier-Stokes equations. Characteristics of the equivalent composite are determined using Mori-Tanaka model. The concrete pipe is simulated with classical cylindrical shell model. Employing energy method and Hamilton's principal, the motion equations are derived. Frequency and critical fluid velocity of structure are obtained analytically based on Navier method for simply supported boundary conditions at both ends of the pipe. The effects of fluid, volume percent of CNTs, magnetic field and geometrical parameters are shown on the frequency and critical fluid velocity of system. Results show that with increasing volume percent of CNTs, the frequency and critical fluid velocity of concrete pipe are increased.
Nonlinear vibration and instability of cylindrical shell conveying fluid-nanoparticles mixture flow are studied in this article. The surrounding elastic medium is modeled by Pasternak foundation. Mixture rule is used for obtaining the effective viscosity and density of the fluid-nanoparticles mixture flow. The material properties of the elastic medium and cylindrical shell are assumed temperature-dependent. Employing first order shear deformation theory (FSDT), the motion equations are derived using energy method and Hamilton's principal. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used for obtaining the frequency and critical fluid velocity. The effects of different parameters such as volume percent of nanoparticles, boundary conditions, geometrical parameters of cylindrical shell, temperature change, elastic foundation and fluid velocity are shown on the frequency and critical fluid velocity of the structure. Results show that with increasing volume percent of nanoparticles in the fluid, the frequency and critical fluid velocity will be increases.
A refined projection-based purely Lagrangian meshfree method is presented towards reliable numerical analysis of fluid flow interactions with saturated/unsaturated porous media of uniform/spatially-varying porosities. The governing equations are reformulated on the basis of two-phase mixture theory with incorporation of volume fraction. These principal equations of mixture are discretized in the context of Incompressible SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) method. Associated with the consideration of governing equations of mixture, a new term arises in the source term of PPE (Poisson Pressure Equation), resulting in modified source term. The linear and nonlinear force terms are included in momentum equation to represent the resistance from porous media. Volume increase of fluid particles are taken into consideration on account of the presence of porous media, and hence multi-resolution ISPH framework is also incorporated. The stability and accuracy of the proposed method are thoroughly examined by reproducing several numerical examples including the interactions between fluid flow and saturated/unsaturated porous media of uniform/spatially-varying porosities. The method shows continuous pressure field, smooth variations of particle volumes and regular distributions of particles at the interface between fluid and porous media.
A validation of the nursing diagnosis 'fluid volume deficit' was completed by using the diagnostic content validity method. Articles pertaining to fluid volume depletion were reviewed to identify the signs and symptoms used to describe the nursing diagnosis. The topics addressed in the articles included hypovolemic shock, hemorrhage, trauma, fluid balance, hydration, burn injury, thirst, dehydration. A validation instruments was constructed of 52 signs and symptoms. A validation tool was examined by expert nurses group who work on intensive care unit, kidney transplantation unit, internal medicine and general surgery unit. The study sample rated the signs and symptoms on a scale from one to five, evaluating their relevance to this diagnosis. Of the 52 signs and symptoms on the validation tool, 10 were categorized as critical indicators and 34 were categorized as defining characteristics.
