전립선암 영상유도방사선치료 시 pCT와 CBCT에 따른 치료계획별 체적선량의 변화 (Changes in Volume Dose by Treatment Plan According to pCT and CBCT in Image-guided Radiation Therapy for Prostate Cancer)

  • The results of CBCT was obtained using image guided radiation therapy for radiation therapy in 5 prostate cancer patients. Using these results, we compared and evaluated the dose changes according to the treatment plan depending on the volume and position of bladder, rectum, and prostate. The 28 images of CBCT were acquired using On-Board Imaging device before radiotherapy. After the outline of bladder, rectum, and PTV, pCT images and CBCT images for radiotherapy were treated respectively. The volume of the bladder was increased by 105.6% and decreased by 45.2%. The volume of the rectum was increased by 30.5% and decreased by 20.3%. Prostate volume was increased by 6.3% and decreased by 12.3%. The mean dose of the rectum was higher in the CBCT than in the pCT, and V40 (equivalent to 40 Gy) of the bladder showed a reduction in all treatment regimens in the CBCT than in the pCT. Conformity treatment and homogeneity index of PTV showed better results in all treatment regimens using pCT than CBCT. It was found that the dose distribution of the pelvic internal organs varied greatly according to the patient 's condition and pretreatment.

감길탕(甘桔湯)이 호흡곤란에 미치는 임상적 고찰 (Clinical Study of Kamkil-tang on the Dyspnea)

  • This study was designed to investigate the clinical effect of Kamkil-tang on the dyspnea. In this study, we measured the variations of the breathing volume of 20 patients after taking Kamkil-tang. Picrometer is used for the measurement of the volume. The investigation had been performed since from January 1st to August 31th of 2005. The patients for the experiment were mainly composed of patients who had trouble in breathing due to the pneumonectasis, asthmas, pneumonias. The percent of men is 65% in sex distribution and the ratio of persons over 50's was 90%. The results are as follows: After Kamkil-tang was taken to the patients, the enhancement ratio of breathing volume was appeared as 6.6%. The analysis based on an age was that the patients of 50's show the highest volumetric advancement. The ratio of breathing volume was higher as the patients were younger. From this, Kamkil-tang has more efficient on the younger patients. From the relations between the breathing volume before treatment and the enhancement ratio, the increase of the enhancement ratio and the better response to the medicine were shown to the more serious patients. The period of treatment was 22.4 days average. The enhancement ratio of smoker was 25.5, and that of non-smoker was 31.1. At the test of relation between the trouble rate in breathing and the enhancement ratio, Grade I shows the highest enhancement. From the experimental results, It is found that Kamkil-tang gives a noticeable benefit for the patients whose main symptom was breathing problem. Long-term treatments for the serious and younger patients will make much more efficient to the reduction of the symptoms.

Correction of post-traumatic enophthalmos with anatomical absorbable implant and iliac bone graft

  • Background: Trauma is one of the most common causes of enophthalmos, and post-traumatic enophthalmos primarily results from an increased volume of the bony orbit. We achieved good long-term results by simultaneously using an anatomical absorbable implant and iliac bone graft to correct post-traumatic enophthalmos. Methods: From January 2012 to December 2016, we performed operations on seven patients with post-traumatic enophthalmos. In all seven cases, reduction surgery for the initial trauma was performed at our hospital. Hertel exophthalmometry, clinical photography, three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT), and orbital volume measurements using software to calculate the specific volume captured on 3D-CT (ITK-SNAP, Insight Toolkit-SNAP) were performed preoperatively and postoperatively. Results: Patients were evaluated based on exophthalmometry, clinical photographs, 3D-CT, and orbital volume measured by the ITK-SNAP program at 5 days and 1 year postoperatively, and all factors improved significantly compared with the preoperative baseline. Complications such as hematoma or extraocular muscle limitation were absent, and the corrected orbital volume was well maintained at the 1-year follow-up visit. Conclusion: We present a method to correct enophthalmos by reconstructing the orbital wall using an anatomical absorbable implant and a simultaneous autologous iliac bone graft. All cases showed satisfactory results for enophthalmos correction. We suggest this method as a good option for the correction of post-traumatic enophthalmos.

Mitigating Effect of Resveratrol on the Structural Changes of Mice Liver and Kidney Induced by Cadmium; A Stereological Study

  • Exposure to cadmium (Cd) has harmful effects on the liver and kidney. Resveratrol (RES) is an herbal substance that functions as a protective mediator. This study aimed to investigate the effects of RES on the histology of liver and kidney in Cd-exposed mice. Male mice were divided into 4 groups daily receiving normal saline (1 mL normal saline/d), Cd (1 mg/kg/d), RES (20 mg/kg/d), and Cd plus RES, respectively. After 4 weeks, the liver and kidney components were evaluated using stereological methods. The total volume and number of hepatocytes, and volume of fibrous tissue were respectively increased by 34%, 58%, and a 3-fold in the Cd-exposed mice in comparison to the control animals (P<0.03). On the other hand, the volume of the main vasculature (sinusoids and central veins) was decreased by 36% in the Cd group compared to the control mice (P<0.03). Considering the kidney, the results showed a 3-fold increase in the total glomeruli volume and a 7-fold increase in fibrous tissue in the Cd-treated group compared to the control mice (P<0.03). After Cd treatment, a 32% reduction was observed in the volume and length of the proximal and distal convoluted tubules. RES-treatment alone did not induce any structural changes. In comparison to the Cd group, an increase in the normal components of the liver and kidney and a decrease in the formation of the fibrous and degenerated tissues were observed in the Cd+RES-treated mice (P<0.03).

건설현장에서의 VRS-RTK측량 적용성 검토 (An Application of VRS-RTK Surveying in Construction Site)

  • 대규모의 토목공사에서 토공량의 확인은 공사비 산정의 적정성 여부와 직결되는 매우 중요한 검토항목 중 하나이다. 이러한 토공량을 정확히 산정하기 위해서는 정밀한 측량이 요구되고 있으나, 대규모 토공공사가 수행되는 시공현장에서는 토털스테이션과 같은 광학식 장비를 사용하여 토공량 확인측량을 실시하므로 관측시간이 과다하게 소요되고 이로 인하여 작업일수가 부족해져 정밀한 측량을 수행하지 못하는 사례가 빈번히 발생하게 되는 것이 현실이다. 이러한 사안은 후일 토공사 시공시 토사 반출입량의 정산문제로 발주자와 시공자간의 분쟁을 야기하는 등 현장에서 많은 문제점을 발생시키게 된다. 본 연구에서는 토털스테이션 등의 기존의 측량방법에 의해 토공량 확인측량을 실시하는 것과는 달리 VRS-RTK 측량기법에 의한 새로운 기법을 채택하여 신속하고 정확한 측량이 가능하도록 하는 기법을 고찰하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 VRS-RTK 시스템은 소수의 인원으로 원지반의 3차원 좌표를 높은 밀도로 신속하게 관측하는 것이 가능하며, 이 기법은 제한된 시간 내에 정확한 토공량을 산출할 수 있는 가장 경제적인 측량기법 중 하나라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Periodontal biotype modification using a volume-stable collagen matrix and autogenous subepithelial connective tissue graft for the treatment of gingival recession: a case series

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose a technique for periodontal biotype modification through thickening of the entire facial aspect using a volume-stable collagen matrix and autogenous subepithelial connective tissue graft (CTG) for the treatment of gingival recession. Methods: Four systemically healthy patients showing Miller class I or class II gingival recession in the mandibular incisor area were included in this study. Full-mouth scaling and root planing procedures were performed at least 4 weeks prior to periodontal plastic surgery. A split-thickness flap with a horizontal intrasulcular incision and 2 vertical incisions was used in cases 1-3, and the modified tunnel technique was used in case 4 for coronal advancement of the mucogingival complex. After the exposed root surfaces were debrided thoroughly, double-layered volume-stable collagen matrix was placed on the apical part of the recession and a subepithelial CTG harvested from the palatal area was placed on the coronal part. The amount of root coverage at 3 months postoperatively was evaluated in cases 1-3, and facio-lingual volumetric changes were analyzed in cases 1 and 2. Results: Healing was uneventful in all 4 cases and complete root coverage was shown in cases 1-3. In case 4, reduction of gingival recession was observed at 3 months after surgery. In cases 1 and 2, a comparison of stereolithographic files from the preoperative and postoperative time points demonstrated that the entire facio-lingual volume had increased. Conclusions: The surgical technique suggested herein, using a volume-stable collagen matrix and autogenous subepithelial CTG, may be an effective method for periodontal biotype modification through thickening of the entire facial aspect for the treatment of gingival recession.

Assessment of nutritional conditions of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) larvae and juveniles with special emphasis on metamorphosis and settlement

  • Olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus larvae and early juveniles were reared for 43 days after hatching in order to observe the effects of starvation during development and metamorphosis. Morphological, histological and biochemical measurements were made to assess the nutritional condition during growth and starvation from pre-matamorphic through post-metamorphic phases. Two groups of fish were compared ; one with sufficient food supply and one under continuous starvation until death. Among morphometric analyses, both ratios of body height at anus/head height and pre-/post-anal lengths appeared to be sensitive to starvation during which substantial reduction was observed within a day of food deprivation. Histological variables as intestinal and rectal epithelial heights and gall bladder volume changed significantly with onset of starvation. The gut epithelial heights of starving fish decreased with advances in starvation, although they fluctuated during mid-metamorphic phase. In contrast, gall bladder volume increased remarkably soon after starvation. Ontogenetic changes in both gut epithelial height and gall bladder volume were evident, those associated with settlement and/or completion of metamorphosis. Abrupt decrease in the RNA/DNA ratios of starving fish were found right after onset of starvation. Even in the fed fish marked fluctuations in its ratios during metamorphosis were observed, evident by decreasing from late-metamorphic to post-metamorphic stages. These findings suggest that a combination of morphologically and histologically sensitive characteristics, and biochemical measurement could be utilized as a measure to evaluate nutritional condition related to starvation in wild olive flounder larvae and juveniles.

보강 혼합토의 역학적 특성(II) -섬유 혼합토- (Mechanical Characteristics of Reinforced Soil(II) -Fiber Reinforced Soil-)

  • This study has been performed to investigate the physical and mechanical characteristics of compaction, volume change and compressive strength for reinforced soil mixed with polypropylene fiber, and to confirm the reinforcing effects with admixture such as polypropylene fiber. To this end, a series of compaction test and compression test was conducted for clayey soil(CL) and polypropylene fiber reinforced soil. In order to determine proper moisture contents and mixing ratio, pilot test was carried out for natural soil and PFRS(polypropylene fiber reinforced soil). And the mixing ratio of mono-filament fiber and fibrillated polypropylene fiber admixture was 0.1%, 0.3%, 0.5% and 1.0% by the weight of dry soil. From the experimental results, it was found that the optimum moisture contents(OMC) increased with the mixing ratio of fiber, but the maximum dry unit weight and the volume change was decreased with the mixing ratio. It means that the improvement of the workability and the reduction of the weight of embankment was done by the addition of the polypropylene fiber. And, from the compression test results, it was found that the addition of the polypropylene fiber remarkably improved the compressive strength of PFRS. And it was observed in the viewpoint of strength that the fibrillated polypropylene fiber reinforced soil was more effective than the mono-filament polypropylene fiber reinforced soil.

RTA가구의 특성과 세미나 테이블 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of RTA Furniture and Development of Seminar Table)

  • Furniture should change according to space. Therefore, it is important that the flexibility of the furniture, the functional efficiency, the economical efficiency and the convenience of the furniture of today. These characteristics are also important for seminar tables that are used temporarily by a large number of people. The seminar furniture currently in use has no shielding plate, there are two forms of table and shielding plate folding table. Therefore, in this research, furniture design and product development that can complement the shortcomings of the seminar furniture currently in use were done. Analysis of problems through overseas investigation and domestic market research, design planning and design, and prototyping. We have sought to optimize the volume by applying the characteristics of RTA furniture to develop a lightweight, lightweight, lightweight, easy to install and easy to use shielding plate, and open and closed system. Basically developed two types of shielding board seminar table basic shape and Roll Screen type, we expanded the scope of application such as each color and pattern. In order to reduce the weight, we replaced the parts such as anchor bolts and hinges and the shielding plate with Roll Screen and pursued volume optimization. As a result of this research, it is expected that the system of mechanisms such as packaging standardization and damage prevention for weight reduction and volume optimization will contribute to building competitiveness by domestic office prefabricated furniture industry's original technology.

경사형 구조 적층복합재료의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (Optimal Design of Laminate Composites with Gradient Structure)

  • 종횡비가 다른 적층복합재료에 경사형 구조를 도입하고, 이것이 일방향으로의 하중을 받을 때의 좌굴특성을 최대화하기 위해서 복합재료의 각 층에서의 섬유부피분율과 두께를 변수로 sequential linear programming method를 이용하여 최적화 하였다. 이로부터 좌굴특성을 최대화 할 수 있는 최적구조를 제안하였다. 적층복합재료는 종횡비의 영향이 커서 종횡비가 1보다 작은 경우는 최외각층의 섬유부피분율을 최대화하는 방향으로 최적화가 이루어졌으나 종횡비가 2인 경우는 각층에서의 섬유부피분율과 두께비가 어느 정도 균형을 이루는 형태로 최적화가 이루어 졌다. 경사형 구조는 전통적인 균일구조의 복합재료에 비해서 섬유부피와 복합재료의 무게 절감에 큰 효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다.
