The purpose of the study was to analyze how to express the eroticism on the female's contemporary sportswear. Six hundred fifty few pictures in the fashion magazines such as Vogue, and Elle etc., and at the collections through the internet from 2000 to 2005, were used for the analysis. Other related books and articles were also used for the study. The eroticism on the female's contemporary sportswear was mainly expressed through two ways such as direct exposure and indirect exposure. The details of the eroticism expressed through these two ways were as follows; 1. The extent of direct exposure in bust area and leg were excessive compared to other body area specially in tennis wear, swimsuit, boxing wear and dance wear etc. 2. See-through and close adhesion were used in order to express eroticism indirectly.

Korean textile industry is faced a turning point, And the culture of a country itself is getting a main competetive items. Therefore, this study is focused upon developing fashion items of Korean image. For this study purpose, I carried out literature review and questionnaires were surveyed with 129 women, to see how Korean women interested in costume are conscious of Korean image and the way to develop Korean image fashion items. The study results are as follows. 1. To Koreans, the elements of Korean image were Hanbok(Korean traditional cloths) and Saeckdong(traditional multi-coloured stripes), but to foreigners they were national image. 2. To develop competetive fashion items of Korean image, I recommend as follows. - set up a typical key-word of Korean image - promote top designer - globalization of Hanbok - take advantage of 2002 Wold Cup - bring Korean image fashion into vogue to the younger from domestic to abroad - make Korean image into universal fashion - start with accessories, hats, bags, scarves

The paper presents a generalized optimal active control algorithm for earthquake-resistant structures. The study included the weighting matrix configuration, stability, and time-delays for achieving control effectiveness and optimum solution. The sensitivity of various time-delays in the optimal solution is investigated for which the stability regions are determined. A simplified method for reducing the influence of time-delay on dynamic response is proposed. Numerical examples illustrate that the proposed optimal control algorithm is advantageous over others currently in vogue. Its feedback control law is independent of the time increment, and its weighting matrix can be flexibly selected and adjusted at any time during the operation of the control system. The examples also show that the weighting matrix based on pole placement approach is superior to other weighting matrix configurations for its self-adjustable control effectiveness. Using the time-delay correction method can significantly reduce the influence of time-delays on both structural response and required control force.

During the last decade researchers in science education and psychology have emphasized the importance of children's ideas, or "what they already know", which they bring to their related learning situations. Most research reports on the children's prior ideas reject both the traditional epistemologies and the conventional learning theories. Therefore, this study has its objective to analyze the traditional epistemologies as well as post-positivism contemporarily in vogue, to examine both the conventional learning theories and the constructivism of psychology, and then, based on the analyses, to draw the implications for the future science education. The implications are described under such headings as the nature of science, the science curricula, and the science teaching/learning. The implications are drawn in logical relation to the post-positivism and constructivism, and some of which are empirically validated by the research on the children's conceptions.

This study aimed to explore how India madras fashion was diffused in the American women's costume of the different social levels from 1960 to 1975, by using fashion illustrations such as photographs, drawings and advertisements collected from fashion magazines. The purpose was to obtain data for high fashion(Vogue), mainstream fashion(Mademoiselle) and college newspapers for youth fashion. The data were incorporated from 439 clothing items classified by different categories over the 16-year period. The results indicated that the appearance of madras in the American women's fashion in all social classes supported the idea that fashion change during this period accompanied a concurrent change in social environment. In America during the 1960s when there was strong influence of youth counterculture and interest was high on Indian culture, this corresponded to the time of maximum popularity of madras observed in American fashion in general from 1965 to 1971. Though the Indian influence on fashion in the sixties was often ascribed solely to youth counterculture, it is evident that different social groups-high and mainstream social classes, responded to the appeal of Indian culture in different ways.

The purpose of this study is (1) to investigate how women's visual images in cosmetic magazine advertisements have changed over time and (2) to examine whether women's images in advertisements have changed in regards to the symbolic ambiguity of dress and appearance styles according to the time period. Social identity theory was used as the theoretical framework to understand the change of gender identity and physical appearance. The two magazines of Vogue and Working Woman were selected for the years of 1981, 1991, and 2001. The findings of the study showed that women's make-up colors portrayed in cosmetics magazine advertisements changed from artificial to natural over 20 years and messages in cosmetics magazine advertisement changed from a focus on attractiveness to a focus on skin-care and health. However, appearance styles of women in the advertisements analyzed were predominantly more feminine than masculine for the entire time period studied.

As a technically demanding skill, microsurgery is taught in the lab, in the form of a course of variable length (depending on the centre). Microsurgical training courses usually use a mixture of non-living and live animal simulation models. In the literature, a plethora of microsurgical training models have been described, ranging from low to high fidelity models. Given the high costs associated with live animal models, cheaper alternatives are coming into vogue. In this paper we describe the use of the chicken aorta as a simple and cost effective low fidelity microsurgical simulation model for training.

The purpose of study is to examine fashion bags reflected women's changing lifestyle, their needs and vogue in modern environment since 20th century. Today fashion bags can be divided into practical bag, evening bag, luxury bag and utility bag. Practical bag is a type of tote which is perfect for working mom or women carrying lots of things on a daily basis. Evening bag is a symbol of femininity in respect for its handmade artistry and impracticality by its small size. Luxury bag embodies human desire for high quality and being part of prestige of luxury brand regardless of its cost. Utilitarian bag was coming from military or sports gear and are popular among young generation armed with mobile computing or crazy about popular music and all kinds of sports. In contemporary fashion culture, fashion bags play an important roles on balancing women's social and domestic life as functional and decorative accessory.

본 연구의 목적은 두 종류의 다른 연구자료- 유물과 문헌자료를 이용하여 1950년대 초기에 유행하였던 미국여성복식 가운데 쉬스 드레스(sheath dress)의 디자인 특징을 고찰하는 데에 있다. 본 연구의 일차자료로는 하와이대학교(University of Hawaii)의 The Western Costume Collection에 소장된 1950년대 초기의 복식으로 추측되는 유물과 1950년부터 1955년 사이에 출판된 Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, New York Times Magazine을 문헌자료로 이용하였다. 연구결과, 1950년대 초기의 미국 여성복 디자인의 특징은 여성의 신체적 특징을 강조하며 여성스러움의 미를 극단적으로 추구하는 쉬스 드레스(sheath dress)의 ‘the straight and slender look’으로 요약될 수 있었다. 나아가 문헌분석을 통하여 본 연구의 유물자료가 50년대 초기(1950-1954)의 미국여성복식 디자인의 특징을 보여주는 대표적인 이 시기의 복식유물로 그 사용연대가 확증되었다. 본 연구는 지금까지 주로 문헌자료의 분석만으로 한정되어 왔던 한국의 전형적인 서양복식연구에서 한 걸음 나아가 과거에 실제로 입혀졌던 복식에 대한 이해를 확장하기 위한 또 하나의 연구방법으로 문헌분석과 유물분석(object study)을 병행하여 시도해 보았다는 데에 그 의의가 있다.

Retro, one of these fusion styles, was found in various pattern in fashion. Recent fashion trend shows coexistence with variety which cannot be represent by one or two themes, and introduces various images in a season. Therefore, this study was found three fusion image of Retro pattern which has appeared since 1990; Romantic, Ethnic, and Hippie-look. shown in VOGUE, BAZZAR and etc. 1, Romantic image overcame the exaggerated style of 18th century and expressed in a volume gown, a tight dress of high-waist, and bustier. In addition, beads or sequin became more brilliant and gorgeous which decorated the whole clothing. 2. Ethnic image was expressed with fusion of particular traits from all of the world such as Japan, China, India, South America, Greece, and Africa. 3. Hippie-look image has been shown in slim & long silhouette style, and fusion styles of romantic factors or ethnic factors were also found. Retro as one of the phenomenon of fusion was found in romantic image, ethnic image and hippie-look Image.
