  • A semiotic approach to modern visual arts has emerged since French post-structuralism was introduced to Anglo -American academics by "deconstruction" or "postmodernism." It views a work of art as a sign, which is its methodical assumption ana at the same time makes its application more accessible In the milieu of modern visual arts'effort to be intimate to with general audience, modern art photography is now faced with the request to be a familar and universal domain instead of being left only in photo books as artistic and academic achievements More specifically, various photo images 1mm such visual media as newspapers TVs, and computer graphics to such megaexhibitions as "Gwangju Biennale," "Media City Seoul," and "Pusan International Art Festival," are main objects of s030y. A coherent and scientific analysis of visual semitotics is still on the way; however, it is an urgent task how to read and interpret a photo image with multiple meanings This study argues that visual semiotics can be a powerful tool to enhance the understanding of art photography.   • With the advent of new media era we are living in the world of motion picture image is not an exaggeration. With the development of the mass media with images and moments that passed the day feeling like part of it is communication. In this era a sensual and shapeable image more than the logical and realistic thinking may be passed. In the act of seeing a moving image, prior to linguistic and conceptual meaning, color and screen configuration delivery and formative element in the change they produce is first recognized. Particular kind of video animation having the narrative structure, this territory effect greatly. the film even more significant effect on the area and linking the image of the scene transitions in the scheme also features a simple means of natural communication functions are being expanded. These transitional effects provide visual pleasure from a simple transition traditional methods. And In terms of narrative functions performed to help a narrative flow of availability, visual representation should continue.

A Study on the Visual Attention of Game Broadcast Real-time Review Using Eye Tracking: Focusing on Mobile Platform (아이트래킹을 활용한 개인 게임방송 실시간 댓글의 시각적 주의에 관한 연구: 모바일 플랫폼을 중심으로)

  • The study investigated the users' functional requirement, degree of acceptance and preference of game broadcast real-time review .Secondly it comparatively analyzed the types and locations of game broadcast real-time review through eye tracking tech. The results show that users have high functional requirements and high acceptance for game broadcast real-time review but their preference has no significant correlation with the feature. Among the types of game broadcast real-time review the type with translucent text bubble took the highest visual attention. The above shows that the users' visual behavior has the tendency of special style. The visual attention analysis results of different types and locations of game broadcast real-time review in the study can play a guiding role in the interface design of real-time review feature in the future.

  • The recent development of the HD (High Definition) and UHD (Ultra High Definition) technology allowed the growth of 3D contents market. Yet the majority of the 3D contents in the market are strictly for 6.5 cm inter-ocular distance, causing various visual discomforts for the viewers who have different inter-ocular distance. Moreover, because the 3D contents are created for a fixed viewing distance, the change of the viewing distances when watching 3D contents can also cause visual conflicts. To solve this problem, we devised techniques that consider the environmental information of the viewer watching 3D contents. By analyzing the relationship between viewing distance, inter-ocular distance, and perceived depth, we created an adaptive content viewing system that reflects the viewer's environment to minimize any conflicts in watching 3D contents. From our experiments, we found that the performance of our adaptive content viewing system was reasonable.

  • This study suggests that the application of split screen as visual media can attain the effect of diversity through providing rich information and accepting diverse contents as gorgeous aesthetics. Single images are analyzed as appropriate to a demanded concentration genre such as news and dramas, entertainment. In contrast, images with natural images and ads images those are more appropriate and analyzed as the genre of the split-screen which is highly efficiency to the contents and also highly efficiency to the spatial diversification. In introducing various genres of digital contents into split screen, the synergy of contents is induced by placement in consideration of the characteristics of split screen position. In order to increase the concentration of the split-screen image, using the left area and right area above it, can increase the effectiveness of the content.

  • HERMES(tHE Retrieval framework for visual MEdia Service)는 웹 상에 존재하는 그림, 영상 등 시각미디어 검색을 위한 시스템이다. 복수의 서비스 제공자와 하나의 서비스 중계자가 있는 분산 환경에서, 사용자의 질의가 왔을 때 서비스 중계자는 적절한 서비스 제공자를 효율적으로 찾는 것이 매우 중요하다. 그래서 다양한 서비스 제공자가 존재하는 분산환경에서 서비스 제공자들간의 랭킹은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 온톨로지를 사용하여 서비스 제공자들을 랭킹하는 방법을 제안하고 기존의 서비스 제공자 랭킹과 비교하여 본 논문에서 제안한 방법이 더욱 우수함을 보인다.

A Method of Patch Merging for Atlas Construction in 3DoF+ Video Coding

  • MPEG-I Visual group is actively working on enhancing immersive experiences with up to six degree of freedom (6DoF). In virtual space of 3DoF+, which is defined as an extension of 360 video with limited changes of the view position in a sitting position, looking at the scene from another viewpoint (another position in space) requires rendering additional viewpoints using multiple videos taken at the different locations at the same time. In the MPEG-I Visual workgroup, methods of efficient coding and transmission of 3DoF+ video are being studied, and they released Test Model for Immersive Media (TMIV) recently. This paper presents the enhanced clustering method which can pack the patches into atlas efficiently in TMIV. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves significant BD-rate reduction in terms of various end-to-end evaluation methods.

Analysis of Visual Attention in Mobile Messenger Emoticons using Eye-Tracking (시선추적장치를 활용한 모바일 메신저 이모티콘의 시각적 주의집중 분석)

  • For the success of mobile messenger emoticons, it is important to grab the attentions of users or consumers and identify the influence factors that can satisfy empathy and emotional satisfaction. In this study, first, subjective evaluation of the mobile messenger emoticons of the subjects was examined through a preliminary survey, and then Eye-tracking experiments were conducted to identify the influence factors that can attention of the subject's eyes in the emoticons. The study revealed that emoticons such as Ompangi and Onaeui yeosin highlighting their characters mainly focus on characters(face). Secondly, Gyuiyomjueui and Handprinting emoticons focused on Text. Contrary to earlier studies, such results showed that people are presumed to focus on characteristic elements such as size, form, color and location of visually exposed elements rather than primarily having a keen interest in characters.

An Analysis on the Changes in ERP According to Type of Stimuli about Fear of Crime (범죄의 두려움에 대한 자극의 유형에 따른 ERP 변화 분석)

  • The ultimate goal of multimedia in bio-signal research is to approach multimedia contents through bio-signal. Hence it is important to interpret user's emotions by analyzing his or her bio-signals. In this paper, we construct ERP task of oddball component to analyze EEG signal between normal stimuli and fear stimuli and measure EEG during ERP task. The results from extracted ERP component show that there is a difference in N200 in visual stimuli, P300 in auditory stimuli, and N100 and P300. Moreover, there are larger changes in audiovisual stimuli, indicating that users recognize greater fear of crime when visual and auditory stimuli are simultaneously presented.

  • 스크래치는 오래된 필름에서 가장 많이 나타나는 손상 요인이다. 고화질의 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 이러한 스크래치들은 반드시 검출 및 복원되어야 한다. 이러한 중요성 때문에 지금까지 많은 복원 알고리즘이 개발되어 왔으나, 스크래치 영역의 자동검출에 대한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 자동으로 스크래치영역을 추출할 수 있는 신경망 기반의 검출 방법을 제안한다. 다층 퍼셉트론 (Multi-layer perceptron: MLP)을 이용하여 스크래치영역과 비 스크래치영역을 구분하는데, 이 MLP는 다양한 크기의 스크래치를 검출하기 위해 다양한 크기의 입력 영상에 대해 적용된다. 제안된 방법의 평가를 위해 principal/ secondary 스크래치, alone/not-alone 스크래치, moving/static 스크래치등의 다양한 종류의 스크래치를 가진 영상에 대해 실험이 이루어졌고, 그 결과 제안된 방법의 강건함과 효율성을 입증되었다.
