중재제도를 활용한 시각정보디자인 보호에 관한 연구 (A Study on Protection of Visual Information Design by Arbitration)

  • The importance of design is emphasized in many industries. It began to earn recognition as part of industry rather than the arts. In particular, utilization of visual information design including moving images, packaging, advertisement, publication, editorial and visual information processing is higher than others in the design field. However, disputes relating to intellectual property rights have been also increasing as it became known. Therefore, now is the time to consider and establish an effective dispute settlement system for the design industry. In this view, arbitration will be a suitable method for dispute settlement in visual information design because of characteristics such as confidentiality, professionalism, efficiency, economy and flexibility. However, Arbitration system is not well known to the people who work in this industry. Thus, in order to aggressively advertise the arbitration system, an arbitration institution has to appoint design experts as new arbitrators for domestic and international arbitration. Next, an arbitration institution needs to prepare the new and expediting rules with design field characterization. Finally, it has to plan to cooperate with all of the institutions and schools concerned.

A Heuristic Approach for Simulation of time-course Visual Adaptation for High Dynamic Image Streams

  • There is substantial evidence from earlier researches that older adults have difficult seeing under low illumination and at night, even in the absence of ocular diseases. During human aging, there is a rampant decrease in rod/cone-meditated adaptation which is caused by delayed rhodopsin regeneration and pigment depletion. This calls for a need to develop appropriate visual gadgets to effectively aid the aging generation. Our research culminates its approach from Pattanaik's model by making extensions to temporal visual filtering, thereby simulating a reduction of visual response which comes with age. Our filtering model paves way and lays a foundation for future research to develop a more effective adaptation model that may be further used in developing visual content adaptation aids and guidelines in MPEG 21 environment. We demonstrate our visual model using a High Dynamic Range image and the experiment results are in conversant with the psychophysical data from previous vision researches.

사람 시각 특성을 활용한 가상현실 브라우저에서의 시각적 피로도 절감 기술 (Reducing Visual Discomfort for VR Browser based on Visual Perception Characteristics)

  • VR browser is one of the most popular applications for VR(Virtual Reality) environment. However, because most of the web contents are not designed considering the VR environment, scrolling the web pages in the VR browser causes much visual discomfort. We found it's because the angular velocity of the eye movement during scrolling increased because the viewing distance got closer compared with legacy devices. So we have developed a technology that regulates the scrolling to reduce the visual discomfort in the VR browser, in reference of the visual perception characteristics of the human visual system.

Image Understanding for Visual Dialog

  • This study proposes a deep neural network model based on an encoder-decoder structure for visual dialogs. Ongoing linguistic understanding of the dialog history and context is important to generate correct answers to questions in visual dialogs followed by questions and answers regarding images. Nevertheless, in many cases, a visual understanding that can identify scenes or object attributes contained in images is beneficial. Hence, in the proposed model, by employing a separate person detector and an attribute recognizer in addition to visual features extracted from the entire input image at the encoding stage using a convolutional neural network, we emphasize attributes, such as gender, age, and dress concept of the people in the corresponding image and use them to generate answers. The results of the experiments conducted using VisDial v0.9, a large benchmark dataset, confirmed that the proposed model performed well.

Small Object Segmentation Based on Visual Saliency in Natural Images

  • Object segmentation is a challenging task in image processing and computer vision. In this paper, we present a visual attention based segmentation method to segment small sized interesting objects in natural images. Different from the traditional methods, we first search the region of interest by using our novel saliency-based method, which is mainly based on band-pass filtering, to obtain the appropriate frequency. Secondly, we applied the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) to locate the object region. By incorporating the visual attention analysis into object segmentation, our proposed approach is able to narrow the search region for object segmentation, so that the accuracy is increased and the computational complexity is reduced. The experimental results indicate that our proposed approach is efficient for object segmentation in natural images, especially for small objects. Our proposed method significantly outperforms traditional GMM based segmentation.

  • In the conventional systems, a human must have knowledge of machines and of their special language in communicating with machines. In one side, it is desirable for a human but in another side, it is true that achieving it is very elaborate and is also a significant cause of human error. To reduce this sort of human load, an intelligent man-machine interface is desirable to exist between a human operator and machines to be operated. In the ordinary human communication, not only linguistic information but also visual information is effective, compensating for each others defect. From this viewpoint, problem of translating verbal expressions to some visual image is discussed here in this paper. The location relation between any two objects in a visual scene is a key in translating verbal information to visual information, as is the case in Fig.l. The present translation system advances in knowledge with experience. It consists of Japanese Language processing, image processing, and Japanese-scene translation functions.

Region of Interest Detection Based on Visual Attention and Threshold Segmentation in High Spatial Resolution Remote Sensing Images

  • The continuous increase of the spatial resolution of remote sensing images brings great challenge to image analysis and processing. Traditional prior knowledge-based region detection and target recognition algorithms for processing high resolution remote sensing images generally employ a global searching solution, which results in prohibitive computational complexity. In this paper, a more efficient region of interest (ROI) detection algorithm based on visual attention and threshold segmentation (VA-TS) is proposed, wherein a visual attention mechanism is used to eliminate image segmentation and feature detection to the entire image. The input image is subsampled to decrease the amount of data and the discrete moment transform (DMT) feature is extracted to provide a finer description of the edges. The feature maps are combined with weights according to the amount of the "strong points" and the "salient points". A threshold segmentation strategy is employed to obtain more accurate region of interest shape information with the very low computational complexity. Experimental statistics have shown that the proposed algorithm is computational efficient and provide more visually accurate detection results. The calculation time is only about 0.7% of the traditional Itti's model.

HDTV 후단 처리부에서의 시각적 가중 필터를 이용한 고속 De-interlacing 기법 연구 (A study on the method of the high-speed de-interlacing using the visual weighted filter in the post-processing of HDTV)

  • We propose an efficient method of de-interlacing in the post-pocessing of HDTV signal. Since the proposed method considers human visual weight, it gives the better performance in the edge information preservation than that of the median filter. The processing time of the proposed method is twice faster than median filter, therefore the proposed method is suitable for the real-time de-interlacing in the post-processing of HDTV signal.

  • 웹 사용에 있어서 사용자는 응답데이터에 불필요한 데이터를 받게 된다. 불필요한 데이터는 HTML, CSS, 자바스크립트에 포함되는 것 중 띄어쓰기, 주석, 줄 바꿈 등에서 발생된다. 불필요한 데이터를 제거하는 최적화 과정 기능이 추가된 오픈소스로 Ziproxy가 있다. Ziproxy 의 최적화 기능 중 자바스크립트 최적화 과정에서 문제가 발생되었다. 문제점을 분석 해본 결과 세가지 문제점이 발견되었다. 본 논문에서 세가지 문제점에 대해서 살펴보고 해당 문제점에 대한 해결방안을 제시하겠다.
