색상(Color)과 형태(Form)에 따른 시각적 주의에 관한 연구 -아이트래킹 실험을 중심으로- (A Study on Visual Attention According to Color and Form -Focusing on Eye Tracking Experiment-)

  • 시각과 관련된 감성 연구 중에서 색에 대한 연구나 움직임에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어져 왔으나 정적인 형태 자체에서 감성을 불러일으킬 수 있는가에 대한 연구는 많이 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기본적인 3가지 형태를 중심으로 색상과 결합하여 영역 설정(AOI)에 의한 시각적 주의를 아이트래킹을 활용하여 분석하고 그 결과를 Heat Map과 Gaze Plot을 통해 시각적으로 표현하였다. 또한, 두 집단과 평균 차이에 대한 통계적 유의성을 검증하기 위해 대응표본 t검정을 실시하였다. 실험결과, 유채색의 형태가 무채색의 형태보다 시각적 주의가 크며, 난색의 형태가 한색의 형태보다 더 높은 평균을 보여 시각적 주의가 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 주관적으로 해석되기 쉬운 디자인적 요소를 객관적인 해석이 용이한 정량적 방법을 제시하는데 의의가 있다. 향후 본 연구결과를 토대로 더 많은 추가 연구가 수행되어 다양한 색상과 형태로부터 시각적 주의의 차이를 확인할 수 있는 정량적 해석 방법이 제시된다면 기초 디자인에 대한 가이드라인을 제공하는데 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Visual Discomfort and Visual Fatigue: Comparing Head-Mounted Display and Smartphones

  • Objective: This study aims to evaluate visual discomfort and visual fatigue caused by watching HMD and smartphones by conducting both subjective and objective measure. Background: With the rapid development of mobile Head-Mounted Display (HMD), the problem of visual discomfort and visual fatigue caused by watching Virtual Reality (VR) contents became a crucial concern for consumers and manufacturers, especially given that the casing of mobile HMD keeps the phone at a specified distance from the lenses that is close to the eyes. Method: Two smartphones were chosen for a preliminary study: LG G5 and Galaxy S7. As for a main study, iPhone 6S and Galaxy S7 were used. After being exposed to the selected clips, participants were asked to answer Simulator Sickness Questionnaire (SSQ) and went through optometric tests that measure tear break-up time, spherical equivalent, and contrast sensitivity. Results: The subjective assessments indicate that HMD causes more visual discomfort compared to watching a smartphone. Furthermore, the experimental result confirms that watching a HMD causes more eye dryness compared to smartphones. Conclusion: The result of the study compared visual discomfort and visual fatigue of two different displays, HMD and smartphone, and confirmed that watching HMD causes more visual discomfort and visual fatigue. Application: Ultimately, this study could help manufacturers understand the strengths and weaknesses of different display forms, providing guidance for an effective application of HMD.

재료역학과 구조역학 수업을 위한 전산프로그램 개발 (Development of New Computer Program for Mechanics of Materials and Structural Mechanics Courses)

  • The new computer program, visual SolidMech (ver 2.0), for mechanics of materials and structural mechanics has been developed using visual C++. The visual SolidMech is organized in a format similar to most standard texts on mechanics of materials and structural mechanics. This program consists of a number of menus to perform various calculations as well as a set of dedicated graphical user interfaces. Solutions to problems are given in both graphical and numerical forms. The visual SolidMech will help students develop problem-solving skills by showing them the important factors affecting various problem types, by helping them visualize the nature of internal stresses and member deformations, and by providing them an easy-to-use means of investigating a greater number of problems and variations. This new program can be utilized as a supplement to existing texts in mechanics of materials and structural mechanics.

3차원 건축모델정보의 표현변용방식에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Expression Transformation of Visual Information in 3D Architectural Models)

  • This study investigated the application and the change of various architectural models by analyzing expression viewpoint media, which were applied to the visual information of digitalized 3D contemporary architectural models. The purpose of this study was to specify how modern architects have changed 3D architectural models to conceptual, logical, and formational visual information in the process of design. This study discovered a framework of analyses by theoretically investigating a relationship between expression media and expression change in the process of visualizing architectural models. Using the framework of analyses, this study analyzed how the expression viewpoints of architectural model information have been changed and applied. The transformation media of the visual information of digitalized 3D architectural models can be classified into conceptual, analytical, and formational information: 1) Contemporary architects used author-centered subjective viewpoints to express architectural concepts, which were generated in the process of their design. They selected a perspective viewpoint and a bird's eye view in order to present their architectural concepts and to depict them with one architectural model by expanding the visual scope of conceptual information. 2) Contemporary architects adopted observer-centered objective bird's eye view expression media to effectively present their architectural information to building owners and viewers. They used transformal media, which integrate architectural information into 3D and change it to different scales, in order to express their architecture logically. 3) Contemporary architects delivered model information about the generation and change of forms by expressing the image of a project from an author-centered viewpoint, instead of objectively defining formational information. They explained the generation principle of architectural forms via transformal media which develop and rotate an architectural model.

복잡성 분석을 통한 디지털 분석의 유효성에 관한 연구 (Study of Digital Analysis Efficiency through a Complexity Analysis)

  • This study intends to prepare a system that can be used, by applying digital technique, in analyzing complexity of architectural forms that have been visualized by the correlation based on the distribution chart made in accordance with profile lines. The profile lines are derived from the edge analysis of the architectural forms, simplified based on the visual theory. For the purpose, this study was conducted in the following ways: First, problems of the existing models for the elevation analysis were examined along with formal analysis based on visual recognition to consider the profile lines derived from the forms. Secondly, in elevation analysis, profile lines were derived by digital method to measure them qualitatively. To verify the objectivity of the measured data value, a survey was conducted based on the adjective cataloging method, and the correlation of the survey result and analyzed data was analyzed to verify the validity of the derived data. Thirdly, supplementation for the problems deducted from experiments and the possibility to use it in designing were suggested. Digital method has many advantages over the conventional analyzing system in deriving precise data value by excluding subjectivity. It also allows various analytical methods in analyzing numerous data repeatedly. Diversified models and methods of analysis considering numerous factors arising in the process of designing remain assignments to research in future.

오감(五感)을 이용한 가구디자인에 관한 연구 - 디자인에서의 공감각(共感覺)을 중심으로 - (A Study on Furniture Design using the Five Senses -Focusing on Synesthesia in Design-)

  • Although past design developments that emphasized only the outer appearances of products were mostly concentrated on the areas of forms and colors in an attempt to satisfy humans' visual needs, it is expected that future designs to come will go in the direction to stimulate more diversified human senses. This means expansions to the five senses including the auditory sense, the sense of smell, the tactile sense and the taste and even to the area of synesthesia where two or more senses are stimulated or coexist. Although the dictionary definition of synesthesia is a concept of arousing another sense through a sense, studies of synesthesia in design go one step further from here to mean compound senses, that is, the synesthesia in an expanded meaning to feel an object (thing) through many sensory organs simultaneously. The synesthesia in the expanded meaning is applying multiple senses simultaneously in recognizing one thing to comprehensively judge and feel the thing. Recent design trends are going in a direction to basically satisfy humans' visual needs through controlled forms and colors while inducing another new feeling through expressions of diverse feels of materials within existing forms. In this change of the times, studies on furniture designs are conducted through factors of in synesthesia linked with other senses and have an important meaning that can enhance the value of designs.

  • In this paper, we have been concerned with development of plastic mold design system by using Auto CAD. We provides a interface and interaction for mold designer who can select optimal mold base and mold parts within Auto CAD environment. We use the paramatric design method and an essential elements group forms. This program made for using Visual Lisp, DCL and Visual Basic that could easily get a database which is built to mold base and parts within Auto CAD. We provide 6 types mold base and 35 parts database for designer. In addition, it will be lined to mold cost and not only 2-D but also 3-D models

안정해석을 통한 공동 일체식 옹벽의 최적높이 평가 (Evaluation on Optimal Height of the Bin Wall using Stability Analysis)

  • Structures to support against slop failures or resist earth pressure like masonry retaining walls or retaining walls have continued to advance and evolve to new eco-friendly, easy-to-construct, crib retaining walls with varied forms and construction methods, meeting the needs of the times. Researches until now, however, have focused on the analyses of site displacement or stability of the whole site including structures like retaining walls, and thus, researches on rational design or method for stability analysis are lacking. Therefore, this study was conducted on a number of stability analyses, such as the visual power line or stability on sliding, being presented for bin walls, which enable vegetation to grow and were developed and applied in varied forms, meeting the development demands for eco-friendly retaining wall structures. This study compared the results of stability analyses, determined their feasibility, and evaluated their stability according to the height and facade slope of retaining walls. According to the results of this study, traditional masonry retaining wall analysis showed rather conservative stability evaluation results in the stability evaluation of bin walls, and the method using the visual power line seems to be objective because it produced similar results to the stability evaluation method on sliding or turnover.

  • 시대가 빠르게 변할수록 미디어의 형태와 역할도 발맞춰 바뀌어 가는게 현실이다. 지금 가장 주목 받고 있는 미디어는 바로 1인 미디어 UCC(User Created Contents)라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 각 가정마다 하나의 카메라가 보급이 되고 심지어 일상생활에서 없어서 안 될 휴대폰으로도 영상을 촬영 할 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 여기서 끝나는 게 아니라 이것을 가지고 동영상을 제작할 수 있는 시대가 되었다. 그것이 바로 UCC의 시작이다. 개인의 사생활을 제작할 뿐 만 아니라 기업, 사회, 광고, 엔터테인먼트, 쇼핑몰 등 다양한 곳에서 UCC를 활용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 위와 같은 시대를 맞아 1인 미디어 UCC의 현재와 미래를 통계학적 관점에서 연구하였다.
