People with visual impairments are difficult to go to education facility by themselves, because of their limited visual ability, orientation, and usability field, so they prefer dormitories. Those dormitories playa role in living space, education, communication and culture function. Therefore those facilities planned more user centered design, since they are influenced by user actability and their values. User centered designs that match between the user and space are understood as well as their characteristics and behavior. Especially for understanding their activity, observation is conducted about their behavior in dormitories. Thus the purpose of this study is suggested to be a basic source that planning about residential facility for people with visual impairments through interview and observation investigation by analysis that they resident in space motion and performance.

One of the main uses for ship simulators is in the field of port design, and an increasing number of simulators, of varying degrees of fidelity, are being used for this purpose. An essential feature of all such simulators is their visual scene, which must be of sufficent fidelity to convey the key visual cues adequately. This paper examines the ability of a number of experienced mariners to perceive speeds and distances correctly using Computer Generated Imagery visual scenes of different fidelity, compared with their performance at sea. From the results, it was found that the microcomputer based simulator might be considered, as far as its visual scene representation is concerned, to be as valid as the full mission ship simulator for the port design task.
This study intends to understand the visual experience of architectural space generated by users' movement based on the interpretation of visual properties. An analytic theory of Isovist is suggested for the objective and comparable measurement for such visual experience, and a computer program for the analysis has been proposed as well. By using the analytical theory and computer program, eight houses designed by Adolf Loos and Le Corbusler are analyzed for the purpose of understanding the visual characteristics of the Modern Architecture and the contemporaries. The result shows that, while the architectural space of Loos emphasizes personal privacy as for being livable spaces, the architectural space of Corbusier emphasizes users' movement as for including diverse visual arrays. These commensurable results exhibit that the analytical tool and research frame suggested in this study can be a competitive tool for such analysis.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the differences of visual image on variations in the shoulder strap and length of the monokini swimsuit. Nine samples were examined: 3 variations of the shoulder strap and 3 variations of the swimsuit length. Data have been obtained from 90 fashion design majors and analyzed using Factor Analysis, Anova, Scheffe's Test and the MCA method. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The visual image, according to changes in the shoulder strap and length of monokini swimsuit, was composed of boldness factor, attention factor and attraction factor. Boldness was the most important factor in the monokini swimsuit. 2) The visual images according to changes in the shoulder strap of the monokini swimsuit are ranked in the order of one shoulder strap, strapless and two shoulder straps. They are shown to be untidy - a trendy image, showy -a characterful image and wanted to dress -an unnatural image. 3) As the swimsuit gets shorter, it has more untidy - trendy image. As the swimsuit gets longer, it looks more tidy and classic. 4) The number of shoulder straps and swimsuit length do not interact with each other in boldness factor, attention factor or attraction factor. However, the number of shoulder straps affects more than swimsuit length in the visual images of the monokini swimsuit.
Computerized visual database construction of architectural precedents has just begun in some research institutes in the world. In Korea the first visual database has shown its testl version by S architectural design firm in september 1996. In this article the author discusses the historical contexts and the recent computerization cases, the traits, the uses and the limits of architectural visual database system of precedents. The forms and contents of data fields in two cases are compared with a focus on the description of architectural traits of each data entry. Compared to the KIA format, the S database has better performance for architectural design reference because it collects more pictures and drawings and larger texts for the field of architectural chracteristics. But this latter also is constrained by its capacity of memory and so lacks the reciprocity of the DOORS in the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University. A visual database system which has more flexible allocation of memory and respondent with the users is yet to be prepared. But this system also should be maintained by some experts in architectural history, theory and criticism, because their knowledge is essential for selection of precedents and revision of the data description. A full-fledged electronic visual database in architecture will not only save much effort for the architect, but also will change the architects' design behavior. Nevertheless this does not mean the automatic promotion of architects' creativity.
This study explored the Eye Movement, the horizontal and vertical flow of vision, and genetic, cultural and empirical schema, and the differentiation of the visual system of the cerebrum through the engineering psychological or the cognitive neuroscientific experiments measuring Eye Movement to maximize the efficiency of the Public Sign System in the urban environment. Accordingly, the study derived an algorithm that can bring out the most efficient visual design measurement by using EMR test and bitmap counting method. The scientific test data in this study will show the existence of the momentum of differentiation and visual sampling by the Schema and Sensory Qualia of the human.
While transparency in general refers to the structure that is optically luminant or pleasant in its lightness, it is often synonymous with the concept of "modernistic." The advancement in construction and design technologies and the development of new materials with versatility adds even further diversity to transparency in architectural expression. The purpose of this study is to analyze various conceptions about transparency effects by comparing diverse expressions of visual lightness effects in space design. For this, I categorize and exemplify visual lightness effects of space applied to transparent materials. I argue that by utilizing transparent materials, the perception of space as well as boundaries between exterior and interior can be profoundly transformed. Space that overlaps through transparent boundaries creates atmosphere which deepens the architectural space environments.ironments.
Along with the development of creative design ideas, how to effectively present design concepts is also an important consideration on housing plan process. This could consequently make it possible to automate presentations. In spite of such needs of presentations any significant efforts for the systematic design presentation have not been made yet. The research goals established in order to solve these problems are to develop structures of presentation and analyze the cases of it. This paper explains structures of housing plan presentations in two ways: the compositional elements of panel presentations and the relationships among the elements. The elements include a project title, a synopsis, design concepts, building layouts, floor plan1 and 2, longitudinal and latitudinal elevations, sections, projection and perspective views, and model photographs. Among various relationships among panel compositional elements this study uses relationships based on the Gestalt theory, the balance theory by Rudolf Arnheim and the optical array theory by Gibson. The relationships investigated on the basis of the visual perception theories include the relationships between compositional elements and background space, visual weight balance, horizontal and vertical balances, grouping, and visual layout patterns.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the visual sensibilities of brassiere design. Brassieres were divided into three types according to connection of a cup and a strap. In each type Lace was used where the part of the cup divided by lines which were constructed such as a mold horizontal a vertical a mixed and an oblique design. As a result 39 brassieres were obtained. The experiment has been done for the 39 brassieres with 17 semantic differential bi-polar scales. The subjects were 60 female students majoring in clothing and textiles, The data was analyzed using the statistical SPSS package. The major findings of this research were as follows. 1. As a results of the factor analysis, 3 factors(Attractiveness Appearance. Cuteness) were found to be constructing factors for brassiere image. 2. There were significant differences in the visual evaluation of brassiere design especially in the change of lace. 3. As a result of the regression analysis the images affecting preferences were pretty fascinating natural appropriate sexy and clean.

The influences of luminous environment on visual responses and fatigue sensation in art galleries were examined in this study. Field measurements and survey were performed in three galleries under various illuminance and luminous conditions. Result implies that vertical illuminance on art paintings needed to be somewhere between 200 lx and 300 lx to avoid visual discomfort. The vertical illuminance difference between consecutive paintings should not exceed 100 lx to keep visually comfortable environment. Visual comfort sensations were related to glare, visual stimulus, reflection from paintings, illuminance variation, and the sensation that subjects can clearly see the paintings. The sensation of fatigue was significantly influenced by the changes of luminous element that caused visual stimulus and discomfort. The sensation of eye fatigue among physical fatigue was primarily influenced by the glare, visual stimulus and comfort. The psychological fatigue was also influenced by eye fatigue, visual comfort, brightness and satisfaction with color of light.
