The measurement and evaluation of an audience's visual attention are crucial processes for the scientific production of various contents and services. It has been alleged that a vector exists between objects on a screen, but this has not been explored empirically. This study tested whether or not there are any positive correlations between screen vectors and viewers' eye movements. Participants were exposed to four groups of pictures representing an independent vector, continuing vector, converging vector, and diverging vector. The results showed that vectors on screens induced viewers' eye movements to the vector object by the directivity of the visual stimuli.
Object segmentation is a challenging task in image processing and computer vision. In this paper, we present a visual attention based segmentation method to segment small sized interesting objects in natural images. Different from the traditional methods, we first search the region of interest by using our novel saliency-based method, which is mainly based on band-pass filtering, to obtain the appropriate frequency. Secondly, we applied the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) to locate the object region. By incorporating the visual attention analysis into object segmentation, our proposed approach is able to narrow the search region for object segmentation, so that the accuracy is increased and the computational complexity is reduced. The experimental results indicate that our proposed approach is efficient for object segmentation in natural images, especially for small objects. Our proposed method significantly outperforms traditional GMM based segmentation.
This study aims to find methodical similarities between pop art and Robert Venturi's works. Pop art and Robert Venturi's works gave attention to periodical changes and wanted to communicate with the public. This study approaches a topic from psychological viewpoints, especially visual dissonance. The results are as follows: 1. Manufactured Products ; Commercial Ornaments ${\rightarrow}$ Character Changes in Experienced Stimulation 2. Daily Elements ; Traditional Elements(Classic) ${\rightarrow}$ Contextual Effect of Canonic Representation In these cases, visual dissonance attracted a lot of public attention, and people would develop new meanings of objet. Pop art and Robert Venturi's works indicated value change in post-industrial society, therefore, this study can help to understand the correlation.
Visual object tracking can be utilized in various applications and has attracted considerable attention in the field of computer vision. Visual object tracking technology is classified in various ways based on the number of tracking objects and the methodologies employed for tracking algorithms. This report briefly introduces the visual object tracking challenge that contributes to the development of single object tracking technology. Furthermore, we review ten Siamese network-based algorithms that have attracted attention, owing to their high tracking speed (despite the use of neural networks). In addition, we discuss the prospects of the Siamese network-based object tracking algorithms.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences in sensory processing and visual perception between school-age children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and typical children. Methods : The participants in this research were children in the first and second grade in elementary school in Kyoung-Nam Region; 25 children diagnosed with ADHD comprised the experimental group, and 51 typical children comprised the control group. To evaluate the sensory processing of the children, the Sensory Profile (SP) was used, and the Korean Developmental Test of Visual Perception-2 (K-DTVP-2) was used to assess visual perception skills. The data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0, and the Independent t-test was used to compare the sensory processing and visual perception skills of the two groups. Results : The study found differences in the Sensory Profile summary scores and factor summary scores between the two groups (p<.05). We also found differences in the visual perception index and subtest standard scores between the two groups (p<.05). Conclusion : The results of this study show that the experimental and the control groups had significant differences in sensory processing and visual perception skills. The result will contribute to the assessment and education of children with ADHD.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of the cognitive performance, emotional and behavioral problems among the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) groups that show the difference between visual and auditory attention. Method : Using 'ADHD Diagnostic System(ADS)', visual attention and auditory attention of 98 children diagnosed as ADHD were measured. According to the omission and commission error of ADS, they were divided into three groups ; 1) the group whose each visual omission and commission error scores were higher than each auditory omission and commission error scores(VV group), 2) the group whose each auditory omission and commission error scores were higher than each visual omission and commission error scores(AA group), 3) the group that was the rest of VV and AA group(M group). And the results of both the subscales of Korean Educational Development Institute-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children(KEDI-WISC) and the subscales of Korean Child Behavior Checklist(K-CBCL) among three groups were compared. Finally, the correlation between the visual omission, visual commission, auditory omission, auditory commission error and the results of KEDI-WISC, K-CBCL were investigated. Results : The results were as follows ; 1) In 98 ADHD children, the number of VV group(N=56) was higher than that of AA (N=10) and M group (N=32). 2) All mean scores of the subscales of KEDI-WISC of VV group were higher than those of M and AA group. The score of verbal IQ(p=.039) of VV group was significantly higher than that of AA group and the scores of block design(p=.015), Kaufman's factor 2(p=.045), performance IQ(p=.004) were significantly higher than those of M group. The score of full IQ(p=.004) were significantly higher than that of M and AA group. 3) The mean scores of all K-CBCL subscales of VV group were higher than those of M and AA group, except the score of Somatic complaint subscale. The score of Social subscale(p=.041) of VV group was significantly higher than that of AA group. The score of Withdrawn subscale(p=.021) of AA group was significantly higher than that of VV group. 4) There were no significant correlation between the scores of visual omission/commission error and those of each subscale of KEDI-WISC. But, there were many significant correlations between the scores of auditory omission/commission error and those of each subscale of KEDI-WISC. 5) There were significant correlation between the score of the visual omission error and that of Thought problem subscale(r=.205, p=.043) of K-CBCL. There were significant correlation between the scores of the auditory omission error and those of Social subscale(r=-.319, p=.001), Social problems subscale(r=.206, p=.042), Thought problem subscale(r=.235, p=.021). Finally, there were significant correlation between the scores of auditory commission error and those of Social subscale(r=-.241, p=.017), Thought problem subscale(r=.235, p=.020). Conclusion : The ADHD children whose auditory attention ability were higher than visual attention ability had relatively better cognitive performance and less emotional/behavioral problems than the others. The more comprehensive experiment will be needed about the cognitive performance, emotion and behavior problems of the ADHD children showing the difference between visual and auditory attention.

Objective : The purpose of this study is investigate the effects of sensory integration combined with auditory treatment on the sensory processing, visual perception and attention ability of children with developmental delay. Methods : A combined treatment of auditory training and sensory integration therapy was implemented to 3 children aged 4 to 7 and diagnosed with developmental delay during 9 weeks period from December 2016 to January 2017. ABA' design which is one of single subject research designs was used in this study. Baseline A had 4 sessions, intervention B had 15 sessions, and baseline A' had 4 sessions, so 23 sessions were applied in total. During the baseline A and A 'periods, visual perception ability was measured by K-DTVP-2 (Korea Developmental Test Visual Perception-2) and sensory processing ability was evaluated by sensory profile. The maintenance time of attention was measured with the absence of intervention for the baseline period, and for the intervention period, it was measured at 10 minutes break time which was provided after the intervention. The children's attention time during a fine motor task provided were measured using video recorder with the interval recording method, and the interval for the evaluation was 30 seconds. Results : No statistically significant difference were found in the visual perception function and sensory processing scores before and after treatment. Attention of participant A enhanced significantly while that of participant B and C did not improve significantly. Conclusion : It is hard to conclude that sensory integration therapy combined with auditory perception training has positive effects on visual perception function and attention of children with developmental delays. However, there were significant increase in attention and improvements in behavior related to sensory processing for some cases in this study. In further study, longer intervention periods and valid measurement need to be applied in order to get better results. And it is proposed that more studies need to be done to enhance evidence of auditory perception training as a mean to facilitate attention and to prepare learning.
This paper is an experimental study using eye-tracking on the visual attention of TV entertainment programs with PPL products being shoveled by the acceptor. As a result of analysis, first, there was no difference in the exposure time of the PPL product, which is deemed to have little effect on the subject's attention. Second, there was no difference in the PPL product's prominence, and we could see that the focus was on subtitles or the faces of the cast. Third, the concentration of attention on PPL products was higher when there were more famous cast members than there were when there were low-profile cast members, and the appearance of famous cast members was judged to be very effective in order to focus more attention on PPL products. In conclusion, when exposing PPL products in entertainment programs, it is believed that the more popular the cast members appear on entertainment shows, such as famous broadcasters, celebrities, and stars, the more effective the PPL products are, rather than the exposure time and prominence of PPL products, the more effective the companies will be in advertising the popular and likable celebrities.
The present study examined how processing features of visual information near the hand would affect task switching. Recent studies reported enhanced cognitive control of visual information presented the near hands. To investigate the enhancement of cognitive control based on the relationship between hand proximity and attention, we implemented 2 experiments. In the task switching performance experiment, the hand proximity effect depended on modality of cue and target. The first experiment showed that stimuli near the hand received greater cognitive control than stimuli far from the hand, resulting in smaller switch cost. The result could rule out the feature-binding problem, which identifies reduced switch cost as the cause instead of hand proximity. Our results show that hand proximity actually reduced switch cost. In the second experiment, we examined the effects of hand nearness, modality, and their interaction on switch cost. In task switching, the target was always visual, and the cue was presented either visually or auditorily. In addition, we manipulated the cue-target interval to observe the preparation effect of cue. The results showed that a visual cue near the hand reduced switch cost by shortening task preparation time. Also, modality switching between an auditory cue and visual target was remarkable in a hand-near condition. The results for the visual cue could be interpreted as a benefit of rapid visual attention orienting. On the other hand, the results for the auditory cue could be interpreted as the cost of interference of modality switching by slower attentional disengagement of stimuli near the hands. Finally, modulation of switch cost by attention induced by hand nearness was discussed.

The landmark selection is crucial to successful perform in SLAM(Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) with a mono camera. Especially, in unknown environment, automatic landmark selection is needed since there is no advance information about landmark. In this paper, proposed visual attention system which modeled human's vision system will be used in order to select landmark automatically. The edge feature is one of the most important element for attention in previous visual attention system. However, when the edge feature is used in complicated indoor area, the response of complicated area disappears, and between flat surfaces are getting higher. Also, computation cost increases occurs due to the growth of the dimensionality since it uses the responses for 4 directions. This paper suggests to use a corner feature in order to solve or prevent the problems mentioned above. Using a corner feature can also increase the accuracy of data association by concentrating on area which is more complicated and informative in indoor environments. Finally, this paper will prove that visual attention system based on corner feature can be more effective in SLAM compared to previous method by experiment.
