In this study, the control of mounting system for MLGA package was developed using machine vision for the control of rotation position compensation and mounting position of X-Y table. Two types of materials, polymer and alumina, were used for the dielectric insulator of the MLGA. The illumination system and the algorithm of position compensation which is suitable for these materials was developed. We found that the mounting accuracy enough to the degree of${\pm}10{\mu}m$ when MLGA was mounted on the PCB.

This paper proposes a novel formation algorithm of identical robots based on object tracking method using omni-directional images obtained through fisheye lenses which are mounted on the robots. Conventional formation methods of multi-robots often use stereo vision system or vision system with reflector instead of general purpose camera which has small angle of view to enlarge view angle of camera. In addition, to make up the lack of image information on the environment, robots share the information on their positions through communication. The proposed system estimates the region of robots using SURF in fisheye images that have $360^{\circ}$ of image information without merging images. The whole system controls formation of robots based on moving directions and velocities of robots which can be obtained by applying Lucas-Kanade Optical Flow Estimation for the estimated region of robots. We confirmed the reliability of the proposed formation control strategy for multi-robots through both simulation and experiment.
Objective: This study presents the effect of visual feedback on one-hand gesture performance in vision-based gesture recognition system when people use gestures to control a screen device remotely. Backgroud: gesture interaction receives growing attention because it uses advanced sensor technology and it allows users natural interaction using their own body motion. In generating motion, visual feedback has been to considered critical factor affect speed and accuracy. Method: three types of visual feedback(arrow, star, and animation) were selected and 20 gestures were listed. 12 participants perform each 20 gestures while given 3 types of visual feedback in turn. Results: People made longer hand trace and take longer time to make a gesture when they were given arrow shape feedback than star-shape feedback. The animation type feedback was most preferred. Conclusion: The type of visual feedback showed statistically significant effect on the length of hand trace, elapsed time, and speed of motion in performing a gesture. Application: This study could be applied to any device that needs visual feedback for device control. A big feedback generate shorter length of motion trace, less time, faster than smaller one when people performs gestures to control a device. So the big size of visual feedback would be recommended for a situation requiring fast actions. On the other hand, the smaller visual feedback would be recommended for a situation requiring elaborated actions.
Windshield wipers play a key role in assuring the driver's safety during precipitation. The traditional wiper systems, however, requires driver's constant attention in adjusting the wiper speed and the intermittent wiper interval because the amount of precipitation on the windshield constantly varies according to time and vehicle's speed. Because the manual adjustment of the wiper distracts driver's attention, which may be a direct cause of traffic accidents, many companies have developed automatic wiper systems using some optical sensors with various levels of success. This paper presents the development of vision-based smart windshield wiper system that can automatically adjust its speed and intermittent interval according to the amount of water drops on the windshield. The system employs various image processing algorithms to detect water drops and fuzzy logic to determine the speed and the interval of the wiper.
Vision system is mainly consist of three parts of perception, action. One of these parts, perception system detects visual target in surrounding environment. Block-based motion estimation with compensation is one of the popular approaches without accuracy. The hierarchical method the optical flow with gradient is used to improve optical flow time delay.

In this paper, we present tracking algorithm for the indoor moving object. We research passive method using a camera and image processing. It had been researched to use dynamic based estimators, such as Kalman Filter, Extended Kalman Filter and Particle Filter for tracking moving object. These algorithm have a good performance on real-time tracking, but they have a limit. If the shape of object is changed or object is located on complex background, they will fail to track them. This problem will need the complicated image processing algorithm. Finally, a large algorithm is made from integration of dynamic based estimator and image processing algorithm. For eliminating this inefficiency problem, image based estimator, Mean-shift Algorithm is suggested. This algorithm is implemented by color histogram. In other words, it decide coordinate of object's center from using probability density of histogram in image. Although shape is changed, this is not disturbed by complex background and can track object. This paper shows the results in real camera system, and decides 3D coordinate using the data from mean-shift algorithm and relationship of real frame and camera frame.

This thesis is on tile development of LD(Laser Diode) chip tester and the control system based on graphical programming language(LabVIEW) to control the equipment. The LD chip tester is used to test the optic power and the optic spectrum of the LD Chip. The emitter size of LD chip and the diameter of the receiver(optic fiber) are very small. Therefore, in order to test each chip precisely, this tester needs high accuracy. However each motion part of the tester could not accomplish hish accuracy due to the limit of the mechanical performance. Hence. an image processing with machine vision was carried out in order to compensate for the error. and also a load test was carried out so as to reduce tile impact of load on chip while the probing motion device is working. The obtained results were within ${\pm}$5$\mu\textrm{m}$ error.
Recently we have developed an active stereo head-eye system with vergence, name it KIST HECter(Head-Eye System with Colored Stero Vision), based on the analysis of human's neck and eye motion at visual behavior. Our HECter is a five degree-of-freedom system composed of pan and tilt motion in neck part and independent vergence motion of binocular cameras and commonly shared elevation axis in eye part. And stereo vision Provides two color image, which are processed by powerful each TMS32080 vision board. The shape and size are designed to be almost same as human face. The ability to vergence has significant importance and gives many beneficial merits. On its mechanical implementation we adapt a non-parallelogram 4-bar linkage mechanism since it provides high accuracy in transfering motion and enables compact and flexible design.

The stereoscopic vision robot system design with DSP processor is presented. The vision system is consists of control system, vision system and host computer. The vision system is based on 32bits DSP processor. The stereoscopic image processing applies the correlation coefficient method to execute the software. The result of experiment, image recognition rate is 95% on the stereoscopic vision robot system.
