The suitcase can follow its owner all on its own via the Bluetooth connectivity in your phone. A robotic vacuum cleaner than can understand voice commands and even follow homeowner. Robots are used in a variety of applications such as a robot wheelchair. In this paper, I focus the problem of automatic return to the base in the process of developing the moving robot for loading things.

Port, one of nation's key infrastructures, is a point of road and sea transports meeting. As a key base of inter-modal transportation systems, the port is of ever increasing importance for realizing nation's vision of making Korea as an economic and logistics hub in the Northeast Asia. At present, Korean ports handle 99.7% of gross trade volumes in Korea, which requires considerable attention on its safety issues. However, due to the critical characteristics of the port and insufficient attention paid to it, the port industry meets more disasters compared to other industries. Therefore, this paper tries to analyze the disasters happened at the port to have better understanding on its reasons, further to use as learned lessons to prevent from potential disasters that may arise at the port.

Unlike modern photography technology, in the early days, efforts to physically compose an image with a concept similar to the current photograph have not been popular or commercially successful. The limitation of the use of images as artistic media or recordings has reached the stage of introducing the technology of image analysis to automate the function that humans recognize and judge through vision. In addition, the accuracy of the image has exceeded the human visual ability, enabling the technology that enables the step of recognizing and informing the fact that the human is not aware of it. Based on such a base, the range that can be applied through the image data in the future era can be said to be unpredictable, and the technology that targets large scale image database instead of an image is also expanding the possibilities as a new application technology. In order to identify a particular image from a massive database, different methodologies have been introduced. In this paper, we discuss image identifier production methods based on multi-resolution pyramid.

The United Kingdom proposed the development of the strategic vision for e-Navigation at MSC 81 held in 2006. As the development is under way, the concept has not been specified yet. Moreover, It has not come to agreement what information is important and treated in priority for e-Navigation. Korea has been studying it in the various points of view, but no achievement until now. This study looks into the development methods for e-Navigation in Korea through examining international movement and industrial situation as to e-Navigation.

This article deals with rural village development project of Namsunghyun 'Gamggot(persimmon flower)' area, based on local tourism resources. For more efficient use of local tourism resources, questionnaire surveys for local residents and visitors were conducted. On the base of the results, the vision and objectives were established. And each items of project by division were also considered by the results of such surveys. Finally, priority scores of each items of project, based on importances and weighted value, were derived for more efficient propulsion of project and to construct sustainable rural community.

Human recognition on camera is an interesting topic in computer vision. While fingerprint and face recognition have been become common, gait is considered as a new biometric feature for distance recognition. In this paper, we propose a gait recognition algorithm based on the knee angle, 2 feet distance, walking velocity and head direction of a person who appear in camera view on one gait cycle. The background subtraction method firstly use for binary moving object extraction and then base on it we continue detect the leg region, head region and get gait features (leg angle, leg swing amplitude). Another feature, walking speed, also can be detected after a gait cycle finished. And then, we compute the errors between calculated features and stored features for recognition. This method gives good results when we performed testing using indoor and outdoor landscape in both lateral, oblique view.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) show high performance in computer vision tasks including object detection, but a lot of weight storage and computation is required. In this paper, a pruning scheme is applied to CNNs for object detection, which can remove much amount of weights with a negligible performance degradation. Contrary to the previous ones, the pruning scheme applied in this paper considers the base accelerator architecture. With the consideration, the pruned CNNs can be efficiently performed on an ASIC or FPGA accelerator. Even with the constrained pruning, the resulting CNN shows a negligible degradation of detection performance, less-than-1% point degradation of mAP on VOD0712 test set. With the proposed scheme, CNNs can be applied to objection dtection efficiently.

In this paper, a position correction system of industrial robot for door-chassis assembly tast is developed in connection with the position correction algorithm shown in Part I. Tow notches and a hole of auto chassis are selected as the reference measure points and a vision based error detection algorithm is devised to measure in accuracy of less than 0.07mm. And also, the transformation between base and tool coordinates of the robot is shown to send the suitable correction quantities caaording to robot's option. The obtained algorithms were satisfactorily implemented for a real door-chassis model such that the system could accomplish visually acceptable door-chassis assembly task.

Due to the successful accomplishments of the first-stage base center project, a road-map for the second-stage, global base center 2030 project has recently been proposed. The vision of the base center is to build a technology centered, cooperation based platform for a sustainable global community. The global base center 2030 project is based on three core strategies as well as three key strategies. The main goal of the core strategy is to establish an interdisciplinary smart platform, as well as a global tech-coordination facility to implement sustainable, inclusive, and innovative science and technology based ODA projects. To achieve such goals, the global center will focus on developing a global living lab, interdisciplinary smart linkage systems, and a global operating platform. The main goals for the key strategies are to solve issues at the base centers while establishing an international relationship through sustainable technology. To achieve such goals, key projects are centered in establishing a ICT package, and a global living lab based on smart interconnected system. With this, a global inter-connected business platform will also be established to support technical and operational issues.

For National Digital Library(NDL) to properly perform it's ideal function as a representative digital library in Korea, information service policy considering the IT and Ubiquitous environment shall be established. Information service policy of NDL was established with focus group interviews and a survey targeting the users and librarians in this study. To raise the propriety of information service policy, final draft of information service policy was proposed after the interim evaluation targeting the concerned parties of NDL and 1st & 2nd verification by external specialists and the consultation group. In this manner, vision, mission, goal, objective, strategy, etc of information service policy of NDL were proposed. Information service policy of NDL proposed in this study not only proposes the fact and base to other digital libraries that wishes to establish the information service policy and arrange detailed guidelines as a case study but also secures the direction and vision of global information service policy of NDL. Furthermore, it will contribute for NDL to build its reputation as a world renowned digital library.
