When fires occur in high-rise buildings, it is difficult to determine whether each escape route is safe because of complex structure. Therefore, it is necessary to provide residents with escape routes quickly after determining their safety. We propose a method to measure the visibility of the escape route due to the smoke generated in the fire by analyzing the images. The visibility can be easily measured if the density of smoke detected in the input image is known. However, this approach is difficult to use because there are no suitable methods for measuring smoke density. In this paper, we use principal component analysis by extracting a background image from input images and making it training data. Background images and smoke images are extracted from images given as inputs, and then the learned principal component analysis is applied to map of as a new feature space, and the change is calculated and the visibility due to the smoke is measured.

Since Scenic Sites, heritages to protect the value of landscapes, include valleys and mountains, the cultural heritage protection zones and historical and cultural environments preservation districts are designated extensively. So the landscape protection effects of the designation of scenic sites should be examined. Accordingly, the purpose of this research is to present the methods of efficient institution of district for landscape protection of scenic sites. As the research subject, Cheongamjeong Pavilion and Seokcheongyegok Valley in Bonghwa (Scenic Site No. 60), which has the highest designation rate, was selected. The results of this research using the cumulative visibility technique of GIS are as follows. First, the method of selecting the viewpoint by preparing the reverse cumulative visibility from important landscape resources of the valley was presented. The reverse cumulative visibility can be utilized for rational selection of the viewpoint with regard to scenic sites. Second, the landscape analysis method in consideration of human viewing angle and the visibility of the background of landscape resources was developed. Third, the hierarchical landscape protection method of scenic sites utilizing cumulative visibility was presented. Fourth, it was established through on-site inspections that the method of institution of district is the practical method.

Recently, electronic devices is produced by multilayer structure, therefore analysis for hidden layers is important nondestructive inspection. This paper presents visibility enhancement methods for the ultrasonic multiple echoes reflected from adhesive layer in the multilayers using digital signal processing. The reflected signals from the multilayers come out interval of the peaks in the power cepstrum. In the experiment, the adhesive layers of settled thickness using epoxy were formed. The reflected signals from the multilayer is detected by pulse-echo method and power cepstrum is processed for enhancement of visibility.
The classification of fog type and the characteristics of fog based on fog events over South Korea were investigated using a 3-year (2015~2017) visibility meter data. One-minute visibility meter data were used to identify fog with present weather codes and surface observation data. The concept of fog events was adopted for the better definition of fog properties and more objective classification through the detailed investigation of life cycle of fog. Decision tree method was used to classify the fog types and the final fog types were radiation fog, advection fog, precipitation fog, cloud base lowering fog and morning evaporation fog. We enhanced objectivity in classifying the types of fog by adding the satellite and the buoy observations to the conventional usage of AWS and ceilometer data. Radiation fog, the most common type in South Korea, frequently occurs in inland during autumn. A considerable number of advection fogs occur in island area in summer, especially in July. Precipitation fog accounts for more than a quarter of the total fog events and frequently occurs in islands and coastal areas. Cloud base lowering fog, classified using ceilometer, occurs occasionally for all areas but the occurrence rate is relatively high in east and west coastal area. Morning evaporation fog type is rarely observed in inland. The occurrence rate of thick fog with visibility less than 100 meters is amount to 21% of total fog events. Although advection fog develops into thick fog frequently, radiation fog shows the minimum visibility, in some cases.

This paper considers the ability of counting and positioning multi-targets by using a mobile UWB radar device. After a background subtraction process, distinguishing between clutters and human body signals, the position of targets will be computed using weighted Gaussian mixture methods. While computer vision offers many advantages, it has limited performance in poor visibility conditions (e.g., at night, haze, fog or smoke). UWB radar can provide a complementary technology for detecting and tracking humans, particularly in poor visibility or through-wall conditions. As we know, for 2D measurement, one method is the use of at least two receiver antennas. Another method is the use of one mobile radar receiver. This paper tried to investigate the position detection of the stationary human body using the movement of one UWB radar module.

This paper presents a dynamic crack propagation algorithm based on the Moving Least Squares(MLS) difference method. The derivative approximation for the MLS difference method is derived by Taylor expansion and moving least squares procedure. The method can analyze dynamic crack problems using only node model, which is completely free from the constraint of grid or mesh structure. The dynamic equilibrium equation is integrated by the Newmark method. When a crack propagates, the MLS difference method does not need the reconstruction of mode model at every time step, instead, partial revision of nodal arrangement near the new crack tip is carried out. A crack is modeled by the visibility criterion and dynamic energy release rate is evaluated to decide the onset of crack growth together with the corresponding growth angle. Mode I and mixed mode crack propagation problems are numerically simulated and the accuracy and stability of the proposed algorithm are successfully verified through the comparison with the analytical solutions and the Element-Free Galerkin method results.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the different consumption patterns of fashion products according to the demographic characteristics and religious variables of Muslim women in Indonesia. The research method consisted of a questionnaire, which surveyed Muslim women in Indonesia, whose ages ranged from teens to 40s. The final questionnaire made use of 301 responses, and the analysis methods included 𝛘2-testing, factor analysis, and ANOVA. The results of this survey are as follows: For differences in average monthly clothing purchase costs, there were significant differences according to age, monthly income, final education, and whether or not the respondent wore a hijab, but there was also significant difference according to marital status and religious faithfulness. Muslim women's clothing purchasing factors were practicality, visibility, fit-to-wear, and design. In terms of the differences in factors which were considered when purchasing clothing, they depended on whether or not the respondent was married, practicality and visibility according to age, visibility according to final education, and religious faithfulness. There were significant differences in practicality and visibility, but not according to monthly income. When accounting for the differences in the places where Muslim women bought fashion products, there were significant differences according to marital status and age. In terms of the differences in reasons for choosing a place of purchase, there were significant differences according to age, monthly income, final education, and the degree of hijab wearing.

RTLS(Real-Time location system) for Location tracking of personnel and equipment of a construction site is now in development, among these techniques the wireless LAN-based techniques are being considered. To introduce these techniques to the construction site, the 3-dimensional visibility analysis prior to the installation location of AP must be simulated. At this time, three-dimensional visibility analysis considering the propagation distance of RTLS signal of AP(Access Point) should be performed. In this research, two processing methods LOS boundary are tested to various grid size of gridded terrestrial LiDAR data, and the results were compared. In evaluations of visible area, the Scanline Fill-Method shows approximately 7.4% more visible area than the Shadow Clipping-Method, but the Shadow Clipping-Method shows stable results for the grid size. About the processing time, the Scanline Fill-Method is about 2 times faster compared to the Shadow Clipping-Method.

In order to evaluate the exact effect of detergency it is necessary both to measure the actual soil content by chemical analysis and to determine the degree of soil removal visually. Since it takes considerable time and effort to use both methods, usually one of the two methods is used. Many studies have been carried out through increasing the visibility of oily soil to evaluate detergency by measuring reflectance of fabrics. In this study Sudan Black B, an oil soluble dye was used as an indicator to increase the visibility of oily soil on cotton and polyester fabrics. The condition of artificially soiled fabrics and the method of evaluating detergency were investigated which represent the actual detergency of oily soil by measuring the reflectance only. Also the detergency of Sudan Black B and that of oily soil were compared with each other under various washing conditions, As a result, the K/S values converted from the reflectances showed a good correlation with the actual soil content. Linear relationship between K/S value and the actual soil content was obtained. The K/S values of washed fabrics were higher than those of unwashed fabrics which included same content of soil since the soil visibility changed during washing. But the difference was small when Sudan Black B was used. With the increase of soil content, detergency of cotton fabric decreased, but detergency of polyester fabric increased gradually. With regards to soiled fabrics, detergency of cotton fabric measured by K/S value was close to that of actual oily soil when Sudan black B was used as an indicator.
Visibility of a space have been defined in several different ways: such as the axial line covering a convex space, a convex space defining the fattest shape in a space and an Isovist field formed by a field of vision at a given vantage point. Isovist fields are referred to as a descriptive medium to describe a movement by reviewing and analyzing geometric properties in them. Many descriptive methods for analysis of three-dimensional isovist are applied to analyzing the morphological properties in a 3D space more realistically. Although these models are regarded as a more advanced method for describing spatial properties, they have pros and cons such as complex mathematical calculations and somewhat arbitrary calibration in addition to huge consumption of memory space. These difficulties lead to the development of a three-dimensional visual accessibility model that explores the implication of building shape on the calculation of isovist fields drawn on a 2D plane. We propose a conceptual framework of how to measure the isovist field not as a 3D volume but as a combination of 2D plane on the ground with the 3D building shape of it's facade.
