This thesis analyzed arrangement and mixture method of function elements, which are getting more important in museum planning. It used quantitative method, Space Syntax and Visibility Graph Analysis tool to analyze five case museums. Through this analysis, advantages and disadvantages of two methods were derived and case museums' arrangement and mixture attributes were grasped. Results of the analysis were derived differently by two kinds of plan form which were room to room type and open type. Open typed museum recorded similar graphs of Integration, Visual Integration and Visual Connectivity. Since whole space structures were relatively simple and structure of exhibition halls were opened, the results of Space Syntax and Visibility Graph Analysis had similar graphs. Room to room typed museum showed differences in Integration, Visual Integration and Visual Connectivity. In the result, the most accessible space was lobby and Mediation Space became the center of visibility. Also, the exhibition hall, where the opening of room to room typed exhibition hall was penetrated visually, became a center of visibility. Lobby space, which was close to entrance, had the highest Visibility Connectivity. As Space Syntax could analyze the museum as whole space structure, Space Syntax showed strength in room to room typed museum analysis compared to open typed museum analysis which has relatively simple structure. Visibility Graph Analysis could expect the flow of exhibit distance including visibility analysis unlike the flow of exhibit distance with space arrangement. The exhibition hall, which secures the sight to penetration of an opening, couldn't be analyzed in existing Space Syntax. However, it became the biggest advantages in Visibility Graph Analysis of room to room typed museum. Visibility Graph Analysis derived detailed results in exhibit arrangement so it will be the useful method not only for architecture but also for planning of exhibit arrangement in open typed museum. Through this study, various possibilities on Quantitative Analysis Method of Museum Architecture could be verified. However, the analysis still has limitation of second dimension. Therefore, diverse and liberal following study will be expected to accomplish.

Visibility has been used for Visual Impact Assessment and Buildingheight Control. The purpose of this study is to elaborate visibility analysis technique in GIS, and to design a visual information system baed on this technique for diverse application. The results of this study are as follows : 1) By classifying visibility analysis techniques into two groups, Each one's merits and demerits were investigated. Practically GIS visibility analysis by DTM model using contour map and investigating it by means of site-observation can be the most effective method. 2) A visibility analysis techniquwe for V.I.A. and B.H.C. was presented by studying GIS visibility analysis by means of DTM model using contour map. There were 5 problems. 3) Adequate analysis techniques were presented according to the landscape factor-road, ship-route, port, mountain, etc. 4) Viewing distance from road and ship-route in visual corridor, landma가 visibility and distance, the angle of incidence and invisible region's depth are helpful for land scape management or land use planning.

The path and visibility of nurses in general hospital wards have been treated as architectural planning factors. However, the analysis approach of existing studies shows limitations that only fixed physical elements are considered without considering the behavior of users using space. Consider factors for analysis of ward and models based on this study model. Select a case hospital to apply the analysis technique and conduct the nurse questionnaire and route survey of the hospital. Establish a framework for analysis model applied with the path of nurse movements. The analysis model applies to the case hospital. The analysis results are aggregated to derive design suggestion for reference to the spatial improvement of the ward. Visible visibility to observe the bedside in the nursing station, visibility to observe the beds in the nurse's path, and visibility to observe patients moving in the nurse's path were derived from visual access frequency and exposure frequency. The survey of nurses' movements at the site allowed the nurses to calculate the distance required to move. Reflecting the path of nurse movement, a model was presented for a comprehensive analysis of nursing distance and nursing visibility, which could lead to improvement in the observation and visibility of nurses and the layout of patient rooms or day rooms.
Visibility reduction is a barometer of air pollution which people can notice easily. First of all we need to measure quantified visibility continuously in order to examine visibility reduction. Prevailing visibility is not practical to measure visibility depending on observer's expertness. Scattering visibility using Forward Scattering Meter(Belfort Visibility Sensor 6230) has been measured at Kwangan-Dong in Pusan and analysed since July 1998. According to the analysis the correlation coefficient(R) between prevailing visibility and scattering visibility was 0.7235. The visibility appeared that each frequency of poor visibility(under 6km) and good visibility(over 25km) was 10.6%, 9.7% on summertime in Pusan and the visibility range from 10km to 20km ranked high frequency as a half of whole ranges. The order of correlation coefficients between visibility an air pollutants are ranking CO. PM10 and NO2 that values are 0.5878, 0.5369,l 0.5284 respectively. In meteorolgical factor the case of poor visibility presented more weakly wind speed and higher relative humidity than the case of good visibility. The correlation coefficient between calculated visibility of multiple linear regression model and observed visibility was 0.7215. But the trend of calculated and observed visibility variation was similar with the exception of several good visibility cases.

The purpose of this study was to present an analysis model for finding the correlation between visibility and evacuation time as users move in the outpatient department of the general hospital. The spatial scope of the study was limited to the first floor and second floor which are used for the outpatient department. Traffic density in outpatient departments was surveyed on site. Based on the surveyed traffic density, the evacuation simulation model was established for calculating the escape route and evacuation time for an individual user. The traffic density of the outpatient department as per the evacuation time was also calculated. With using evacuation simulations, the flow of evacuees was calculated through the density of traffic over the time of evacuation. Visibility data were set in the simulation model for users' escape routes. A correlation analysis between the product of evacuation flow measure and visibility measure of the evacuation population and evacuation time was performed. The analysis result showed negative correlation within a specific distance range. This study presented an analysis model showing that the evacuation condition considering spatial visibility in the outpatient department of general hospital visibility was negatively related to the analyzed evacuation time at the design stage.

Visibility is a good indicator of comprehensive alto quality. The prevailing visibility in Seoul is no better than the past although the average concentration of SO2 and TSP (total suspended particulate) has decreased quite significantly in the past decade, owing to the government efforts to reduce the emission. Then, a question arises why visibility has not been improved. In order to answer this question we have investigated which components of air pollutants are most responsible for the visibility degradation in Seoul. Analysis on the visibility vs the aerosol sixte distribution measured by an optical particle counter shows that the particles of the size interval between 0.5mm and 2.5mm are most responsible for the visibility degradation. Among the criteria air Pollutants, NOB concentration is found to be moot responsible, rather than PM10. ton analysis of the particulate collected by a high volume sampler shows that the nitrate component increases more significantly than other ions when visibility becomes very poor. Therefore, we conclude that the major causes of visibility degradation in Seoul are the increase of NOB, nitrates and the particles of the size range between 0.5mm and 2.5mm.

The recovering of historical mountain fortress needs the maintenance of forest scape for achieving visibility. In the study, the methods for the maintenance of the forest around the fortress were proposed. The Cumulative Visibility Analysis and Multiple Sight Surface Analysis were tested to verify the methods using GIS on the Myeong-hwal Fortress in Kyungju. The results of the study are as follows. First, the Cumulative Visibility Analysis was made on the Myeong-hwal Fortress from surrounding major viewpoints. The Cumulative Visibility Analysis enables the selection of excellent visibility sectors on the fortress. The 6 excellent visibility sectors were 1,937m(which occupied 41.2% of the area). Second, two cases of pine tree height were compared in the Cumulative Visibility Analysis. One used the average height of pines and the other used the maximum growth height. The comparative result demonstrated that the case of average height would be more effective for deciding the pine removal zone as well as achieving visibility to the mountain fortress. Third, to examine the feasibility of the management method, the tree removal plan and removal execution were compared on the A zone which showed high visibility frequency. Asa comparative result, there was insignificant difference(3.3%) in area between the tree removal plan($10,935m^2$) and removal execution($11,296m^2$). This study proved the Cumulative Visibility Analysis and Multiple Sight Surface Analysis to be effective for forest scape maintenance around a mountain fortress.

This study was carried out to monitor the visibility including measurement and analysis of the various parameters such as particle size distribution, chemical composition, and meteorotical conditions to understand the characteristics and causes of this phenomenon. According to the analysis of intensive sampling, $SO_4^{2-}, NO-3^-, Cl^-, NH_4^+$ ion concentration increased together with the mass concentration around 1 $\mu$m in the case of low visibility. $(NH_4)_2SO_4, NH_4NO_3$, and $NH_4Cl$ were thought to be the major components of fine particles. The statistical analysis showed that the scattering effect of particle was 81.2%, the absorption effect was 14.9%. Therefore, these effects were the major factors to reduce the visibility. In conclusion, the visibility was reduced by the fine particle of sulfate (18.6%), nitrate (14.2%), organic carbon (10.8%), element carbon (25.8%), and residual (24.8%) during this study.

This paper is to analyze effectiveness and efficiency of topographic features in visibility analysis. For this research aim, this paper compares the analysis results of topographic features and relationships between topographic features and their visibility analysis on surfaces. This paper employs peak, pass, pit, ridge and valley features from the topographic features for which five areas including mountain and plain areas in Britain are selected and their DEM data are generated. The summaries of the analysis results are as follows: Firstly, it is clear that relationship between high elevation points and their visibility is not highly correlated. This means that highly elevated points are not necessarily better visible areas and they are not suitable for searching for large visible areas. Secondly, the positions that can see large visible areas are highly correlated with their elevation and are distributed within a certain range which has small deviation of their correlation between visibility and elevation. This means that to search for large visible areas, it is necessary to employ the positions located at relatively high elevation area. Thirdly, for all of the five areas, the visibility results of the topographic features are compared with maximal visibility resulted from a while surface areas, and it is identified that topographic features show similar visibility performances of that maximal visibility. From the results stated above, it can be inferred that topographic features and its topographic characteristics are enable to be a research motivation to the visibility analysis topics. Furthermore, the results of this paper can be contributed to explore suitable variables and factors for solving multiple viewshed problems.

The purpose of this research is to develop a CAD-based program for data analysis of digital elevation model(DEM) on the aspect of landscape assessment. When handling DEM data as a visual simulation of topographic landscape, it is basic interest to analyze visible area and visualize visual sensitivity distributions. In reference with landscape assessment, more intuitive and interactive visualizing tools are needed, specially in area of visual approach. For adaptability to landscape assessment, algorithmic approaches to visibility analysis and concepts for visual sensitivity calculation in this study were based on processing techniques of entity data control functions used in AutoCAD drawing database. Also, for the purpose of quantitative analysis, grid-type 3DFACE entities were adopted as mesh unit of DEM structure. Developed programs are composed of main part named VSI written in AutoLISP and two of interface modules written in dialog control language(DCL0 for user-oriented interactive usage. Definitions of camera points(view points) and target points(or observed area) are available alternatively in combined methods of representing scenic landscape, scenery, and sequential landscape. In the case of scene landscape(single camera to fixed target point), only visibility analysis in available. And total visibility, frequency of cumulative visibility, and visual sensitivity analysis are available in other cases. Visual sensitivity was thought as view angle(3 dimensional observed visual area) and the strengths were classified in user defined level referring to statistical characteristics of distribution. Visibility analysis routine of the VSI was proved to be more effective in the accuracy and time comparing with similar modules of existing AutoCAD third utility.
