Mediating effect of social support on the relationship between viewing sensational videos of idol stars and adolescent sexual openness (아이돌 스타를 촬영한 선정적인 영상물 시청과 청소년 성개방성과의 관계에서 사회적 지지의 매개효과)

  • Objectives: This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between the viewing of sensational videos of idol stars through the mass media and the sexual openness of adolescents. Methods: This study used the 'Study on countermeasures against sexual commodification of adolescents through mass media in the smart era' conducted by the 'Korea Youth Policy Institute' in 2014 for the entire country as the main data. Variables consisted of socio-demographic characteristics of study subjects, video viewing, social support, and sexual openness. For data analysis, SPSS ver 23.0 program was used. Results: As a result of comparing the averages, male students (20.40) had higher sexual openness than female students (18.67), and high school students (20.27) had higher sexual openness than middle school students (18.05) at school level. By grade level, sexual openness increased from the first year of middle school (17.47) to the third year of high school (20.82) (p<0.001). In order to verify the mediating effect of video viewing on the effect of adolescent social support on sexual openness, 3-step mediated regression analysis and Sobel test were conducted. As a result, video viewing had a significant effect on sexual openness through social support (p<0.001). Conclusion: Rather than obscuring the environment of mass media unconditionally, creating an atmosphere according to the tendency of realistic social support and reinforcing emotional education will help prevent the adverse effects of reckless sexualization of adolescents.

Viewing angle improvement of TN mode by HD layer inside LC cell and a compensation film

  • Holographic diffuser(HD) layer was demonstrated to be located inside LC cell for a transmissive LCD of TFT-array on Color Filter structure. Master pattern of this layer was generated by holographic method and this pattern was replicated by the stamping of the master pattern on UV resin. Combined with a compensation film, TN-mode LCD with this layer showed improved viewing angle characteristics, especially along the up-down direction.

PVA Technology for High Performance LCD Monitors

  • We have developed a high performance vertical alignment TFT-LCD, that shows a high light transmittance, and wide viewing angle characteristics with an unusually high contrast ratio. In order to optimize the electro-optical properties we have studied the effect of cell parameters, multi-domain structure and retardation film compensation. With the optimized cell parameters and process conditions, we have achieved a 24" wide UXGA TFT-LCD monitor (16:10 aspect ratio 1920X1200) showing a contrast ratio over 500:1, panel transmittance near 4.5%, response time near 27 ms, and viewing angle higher than 80 degree in all directions.

  • Even if auto-stereoscopic and polarization based 3D displays are not working with the same principles, their common aim is to provide two different images in the eyes of the observer. In this paper we show that Fourier optics instrument for viewing angle measurements can be applied to both types of displays. Luminance measurements are made at different locations and what will be seen by an observer in front of the display is predicted. Precise 3D characteristics can be derived and direct comparison becomes possible.

A Study on Landscape Characteristics of Flower-viewing Sites through Historical Literatures in the Late Joseon Dynasty (문헌을 통해 본 조선후기 꽃놀이 명소의 경관 특성)

  • This study targets flower-viewing sites appearing in "Kyungdojapji" and talks about the seasonal customs and tourist attractions of the later Chosun; Pilundae, Bukdun, Outside of Dongdaemun, Cheonyunjeong and near Seodaemun etc. Through related poetry, paintings and maps, it looks into what scenic elements each attraction was made of and how the elements were felt by visitors. It sub-divided and analyzed scenic features into objective objects, subjective emotions and experienced behaviors. As a result, representative objective objects were flowers and there were also scenes where people enjoyed poem-writing meetings along with drinking-related physical elements such as liquor, liquor glasses, liquor bottles etc. Through drawing out scenes, where users gave meaning to objective objects, it tried to interpret what space meant to them, through which the meaning of flower-viewing attractions is first and foremost a space to enjoy artistic taste. Each space is used as the center of cultural creation such as literary people gathering, viewing flowers, drinking and having poetry-writing meetings. Second, as shown in scenes viewers depicted in each space, visitors were confirmed to enjoy scenes through multi-sensory appreciation. By this, flower-viewing attractions were confirmed to be not just flower-viewing but also venues of sensory experience. This study, which drew out the scenic features of traditional flower-viewing attractions, is expected to be basic material in tracing the flower-viewing enjoyed by our ancestors as a pastime and its spatial meaning and in planning Korea-unique flower-viewing attractions.

  • We investigate characteristics of viewing resolution improvement in three-dimensional integral imaging, when a dynamic lens array method is adopted. We show that the viewing resolution changes for different moving directions and distances of the lens array through computer-synthesized integral imaging. From this study, optimal moving conditions of the lens array for efficient viewing resolution improvement can be determined.

  • We investigated the improvement using a new patterned double twisted(PDT) vertical-alignment(VA) cell mode on a homeotropic alignment layer. Good voltage-transmittance curves for negative dielectric anisotropic nematic liquid crystal (NLC) using a new PDT-VA cell without a negative compensation film were obtained. The viewing angle of a new PDT-VA cell without a negative compensation film was sider than that of a conventional VA cell. Finally a few fabrication processes using a new PDT-VA cell mode can be achieved by only one-side rubbed substrate.

  • The distribution of Cheondong cave's features is located in the center of the square. Due to its distribution, the tour route of Cheondong cave is spoon-shaped. However, tourists appreciate the features, which have lighting, along the designated route. The network analysis found problems with two characteristics of the viewing points within the viewing route.

Factors related to Young Children′s Empathy (유아의 공감에 관련된 변인 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify how characteristics of young children (sex, age, temperament), mothers (employed or unemployed, intimacy between mother and child, parenting attitudes), and home environment (pet, TV/Video viewing) relate to young children's empathy and to examine the relative effects of then variables on young children's empathy. The subjects for this study were 300 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds selected from kindergartens and day-care centers in Busan. Data were analyzed via t-test, correlation, and multiple regression. Results showed that girls had higher empathy score than boys. Young children's empathy was positively correlated with the sociability of young child's temperament, intimacy between mother and young child, reasoning guidance, affect, achievement of parenting attitudes, and parental intervention toward young child after TV/video viewing. However, young children's empathy was correlated negatively with authoritarian control of parenting attitudes. Among then variables, young children's sex was the most significant variable.

High-brightness and wide-view transflective liquid crystal display with two in-cell imprinted optical films in an inverse-twisted-nematic geometry

  • An inverse-twisted-nematic (ITN) transflective (TRF) liquid crystal (LC) display, where two imprinted optical films (IOFs) with surface microstructures are embedded was developed. One of the IOFs serves as an in-cell patterned retarder with multioptic axes, and the other behaves as a viewing-angle enhancement film. In the presence of an applied voltage, the surface microstructures on the IOFs provide the spontaneous twist of the LC from a vertically aligned state to a $90^{\circ}$ twisted-nematic (TN) state in the transmissive part, and to a $45^{\circ}$ TN state in the reflective part. The developed ITN TRF LC display exhibits high transmission and reflectance, fast response, and wide-viewing characteristics, along with achromaticity.
