  • The design of a telecentric f-${\theta}$ lens with a field of view (FOV) $30^{\circ}$ and an effective focal length of 1000mm is presented. The optical stop is placed at the front plane and the design is based on a geometric ray tracing technique, and the designed system consists of a series of convex and concave lenses. The designed f-${\theta}$ lens showed a considerable reduction in weight with a simplified structure and resulted in a good performance in the designated FOV. Detail analysis of rays is also presented. 653nm (red laser), 586nm (green laser), and 468nm (blue laser) were simulated as a light source and image illuminating source. The developed optical design requires 7 pieces of lenses made of SF1, N-FK56, N-LAK33, and BK7 glass materials. With optimal parametric design, the effective focal length was calculated to be 974.839mm which is very close to the initial design target. For the manufacturing purpose, the dimensions of lens curvature and thickness were truncated with error ranging 0.1% to 3.2%. As a result, the overall error was calculated to be 3.2% which can be still tolerable for display, laser material, and machining processing.

  • To evaluation of patients who have shoulder impingement syndrome is by diagnostic radiography. Shoulder impingement is a problem which occurs in young, active individuals as well as older individuals. In fact, the pain is probably caused by repetitive stress placed on the shoulder joint either through recreational activities of your occupation. Impingement series approach to radiographic examination of the shoulder is take five projections. First anteroposterior oblique projection. Second standard anteroposterior projection. Third superoinferior axial projection. Fourth supraspinatus outlet projection offers a view of the outlet of the supraspinatus tendon unit as it passes under the coraacromial arch. Fifth anteroposterior $30^{\circ}$ caudal projection will adequately demonstrate the anterior acromial spur or ossification in the coraacromial ligament and more reliable to demonstrate spurring of the anterior acromion than supraspinatus outlet projection. This decreased the need for additional radiographic veiws, reduces the patient's exposure to x - ray radiation and decreases use of film. This can lower the cost of the evaluation and improve patient satisfaction.

  • Crystal structures and magnetic properties of annealed Co-(Al-Fe) alloys have been investigated. Annealed specimens showed superparamagnetism when x=0.05 and ferromagnetism when $x{\geq}0.10$. Magnetization increased as x increased. X-ray diffraction data revealed that specimens were single-phase in B2(CsCl) structure with constant lattice parameter $2.87{\AA}$. The experimental results were analized on the point of view of the local environmental effect of magnetic atoms.

  • Organizations such as broadcasting stations and libraries which deal with huge amount of information require high-capacity storage systems for archiving their materials and information. It is necessary and urgent for the storage people to develop a compact, high capacity, and low-cost data storage systems. Even though the Blue-ray technology is commercialized and now it is on the market, demand for the compact and low-cost system is still increasing. A flexible disk system has been introduced recently to satisfy above mentioned requirements. The system uses multiple of thin disks and is expected to achieve technical requirements. However, decreasing the disk thickness makes it difficult to read and write data because it decreases the disk rigidity so that the transverse vibration of the rotating disk increases easily due to both the interaction with surrounding air and the vibration characteristics of thin flexible disk itself. In this study, flat-type stabilizer is proposed to suppress the transverse vibration of a $95{\mu}m$-thick polycarbonate disk. Characteristics of disk vibration have been studied through the results of numerical analysis from the fluid mechanics point of view. Numerical simulation is verified through the experiment by measuring the gap between the rotating disk and the stationary flat stabilizer. The axial deflections of the disk are computed for various rotating speeds and reference gap sizes and then a method of regression is applied to those data. As a result, an empirical relation is proposed for the steady deformation shape of the rotating disk.

  • Purpose : To evaluate the relative diagnostic accuracy of panoramic radiography and Water's projection in maxillary sinus inflammatory diseases by comparing the radiodensities of the images with those of CT. Materials and Methods : Panoramic radiographs, Waters' projection, and CT images from 55 subjects (11O sinuses) were included in this retrospective study. The radiodensity of each maxillary sinus in panoramic radiography was recorded separately as upper and lower divided horizontally by hard palate. In Waters' projection, the overall sinus radiodensity was recorded. The CT images were considered as gold standard. Results : In panoramic radiography, 83 sinuses had same upper and lower radiodensity and 72 of these were consistent with those of CT, 26 sinuses had different upper and lower radiodensity and 15 of these, upper radiodensity was consistent with CT, the remaining 11, lower radiodensity was consistent with CT. One sinus had upper radiolucency with lower radiopacity and both were consistent with those of CT. Altogether 73 (66.4%) among 110 sinuses in panoramic radiography showed full agreement with CT, 26 (23.6%) showed partial agreement with CT. 9 sinuses had no lower image under the hard palate in panoramic radiography due to the smaller size of sinus. In Waters' projection, the radiodensity of 105 sinuses (95.5%) were consistent with that of CT. Conclusion : The panoramic radiography showed 90.0% of the sinus conditions fully or partially which may appear less accurate than that of Water's view (95.5%) but with more detailed information of the inferior part of sinuses. • The calluses formed on the surface of a quarter-girdled Robinia pseudoacacia stems have been shown to originate from immature xylem cells and preexisting cambial cells. The cellus is not only formed by periclinal and anticlinal divisions of radial cells, but also axial cells. In tangential view, the callus at initial stage showed heterogeneous structure composed of long and short cells and then homogeneous one with short cells. Some cells of homogeneous structure in middle region of callus at early stage is later elongated and others mainly divided in trasverse plane. In the result the homogeneous structure becomes into a heterogeneous one. Subsequently, the long cells in heterogeneous structures elongated further and became fusifrom initials, and the short cells divided transversely became ray initials. The appearence of homogeneous and heterogeneous structure in the callus on debarked stem without organ elongation is almost similar to that of the structure in the procambium of young stem which is elongating extensively. Eventually, the ontogeny of vascular cambium in wound callus resembles that of a young stem grown normally, although the debarked stem does not grow in length but in girth and the young stem elongates activity. These findings mean that the active intrusive growth of short procambial cells occurs during the differentiation of fusiform cambial cells.

  • Alloy 600 (Ni 75 wt%, Cr 15 wt%, Fe 10 wt%) as a heat exchanger tube of the steam generator (SG) in nuclear power plants (NPP) has been degraded by various corrosion mechanism during the long-term operation. Especially lead (Pb) is known to be one of the most deleterious species in the secondary system causing outer diameter stress corrosion cracking (ODSCC). Oxide formation and breakdown is requisite for SCC initiation and propagation. Therefore it is expected that a property change of the oxide formed on SG tubing materials by lead addition into a solution is closely related to PbSCC. In the present work, the SCC susceptibility was assessed by using a slow strain rate test (SSRT) in caustic solutions with and without lead for Alloy 600 and Alloy 690 (Ni 60 wt%, Cr 30 wt%, Fe 10 wt%) used as an alternative of Alloy 600 because of outstanding superiority to SCC. The results were discussed in view of the oxide property formed on Alloy 600 and Alloy 690. The oxides formed on Alloy 600 and Alloy 690 in aqueous solutions with and without lead were examined by using a transmission electron microscopy (TEM), equipped with an energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDXS).

  • Information storage devices have been studied to increase the storage capacity and the data transfer rate as well as to decrease the access time and their physical sizes. Optical information storage devices have been achieved high-capacity by reducing optical spot size remarkably due to the development of Blue-ray technology. Optical information storage devices usually use 1.2mm-thick polycarbonate(PC) media to get high enough stiffness. However, it would be better if we can decrease the thickness of a disk for achieving thinner device while keeping the capacity as large as possible. Decreasing the thickness of the storage media makes it difficult to read and write data because it increases the transverse vibration of the rotating disk due to the interaction with surrounding air and the vibration characteristics of thin flexible disk itself, Therefore, a special design based on the fluid mechanics is required to suppress the transverse vibration of the disk in non-contact manner so that the optical pickup can read/write data successfully. In this study, a curved wall is proposed as a stabilizer to suppress the transverse vibration of a $95{\mu}m$-thick PC disk. The characteristics of disk vibration due to a curved wall have been studied through numerical and experimental analysis from the fluid mechanics point of view. The proposed shapes are possible candidates as stabilizers to suppress the transverse vibration of a flexible disk which rotates at high speed.

  • The production of micro components is one of the leading technologies in the fields of information and communiation, medical and biotechnology, and micro sensor and micro actuator system. Microfabrication (micromachining) techniques such as X-ray lithography, electroforming, micromolding and excimer laser ablation are used for the production of micro components out of silicon, polymer and a limited number of pure metals or binary alloys. However, since the first development of microfabrication technologies there have been demands for the cost-effective replication in large scale series as well as the extended range of available material. One such promising process is micro powder injection molding (PIM), which inherits the advantages of the conventional PIM technology, such as low production cost, shape complexity, applicability to many materials, applicability to many materials, and good tolerance. This paper reports on a fundamental investigation of the application of W-Cu powder to micro metal injection molding (MIM), especially in view of achieving a good filling and a safe removal of a micro mold conducted in the experiment. It is absolutely legitimate and meaningful, at the present state of the technique, to continue developing the micro MIM towards production processes for micro components.
