멀티코어 시스템에서의 통합된 비디오 디코딩 병렬화 (Integrated Parallelization of Video Decoding on Multi-core Systems)

  • 고해상도의 동영상 서비스가 보편화 되면서 동영상을 빠르게 처리하기 위한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 특히 멀티 코어 시스템 상에서 멀티스레드를 사용한 데이터 레벨 병렬화 방법을 적용하여 비디오 디코더의 성능을 향상 시킬 수 있었다. 기존에 제안된 병렬화 방법들을 통해 디코딩 과정의 성능을 향상 시킬 수 있었지만, 이 방법들은 엔트로피 디코딩 부분을 제외하거나 엔트로피 디코딩 부분만의 병렬화를 별도로 고려한 부분적인 병렬화 방법이기 때문에 전체 디코딩 과정의 성능 향상에는 부족한 부분이 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존 병렬화 디코딩 과정뿐만 아니라 엔트로피 병렬화 디코딩 과정까지 함께 고려한 통합적인 비디오 디코딩 병렬화 방법을 제안한다. 우리는 각각의 비디오 디코더 병렬화 방법을 분석하여 최적화 방법을 제시하고 이의 성능평가를 해보았다. 그리고 우리는 비디오 디코딩 과정 내부에 존재하는 코어의 개수에 따른 성능향상의 차이를 고려해 성능을 최적화한 Integrated Parallelization 방법을 제안한다. 우리는 인텔 i7 멀티코어 시스템의 물리적 코어에서 엔트로피 디코딩 부분을 최대로 병렬화 하면서, 내부 자원을 공유하는 하이퍼스레딩 기술을 사용하여 데이터레벨 병렬화 방법에는 물리적 코어 수의 2배까지 스레드를 할당했다. 그리고 디코딩 과정 내부 특성을 고려한 멀티스레드 스케쥴링으로 전체 디코딩 과정의 성능을 멀티코어 시스템에 최적화해서 최대 70%까지 성능을 향상시킬 수 있었다.

  • 승강기 시스템은 ICT기술의 발달과 함께 다양한 융합기술을 접목하고 있다. 특히 안전관련 장치로 비상통화장치는 승강기의 의무 사항으로 적용되었으며 그 적용범위 또한 다양하다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 음성 비상통화 장치의 한계를 극복하고 VoIP기반 유무선 환경에서 화상기반의 서비스 구조를 효율적으로 운영 관리할 수 있는 통합 모델을 제시하고자 한다. 이러한 방식은 관리자, 서버 그리고 사용자간의 발생하는 승강기내의 다양한 데이터와 화상 기록들을 효과적으로 관리 운영할 수 있도록 하고, 각종데이터와 승강기내의 부가서비스들을 활용하는 통합 구조를 만들어 VoIP 및 클라우드 서비스 환경에서 영상 통화 품질을 확보함과 동시에 유지비용 절감 및 안전관리의 신뢰성을 높이고 다양한 서비스 환경을 이끌어 낼 수 있을 것이다.

  • IT 기술 발달에 따른 영상 콘텐츠 생산과 소비가 증가함에 따라 영상 콘텐츠를 통한 제품 리뷰 정보로 구매의사 결정이 빈번해졌다. 따라서, 리뷰 영상에 대한 신뢰성을 평가할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 제품 리뷰 영상을 얼굴 표정 분석과 텍스트 마이닝을 통해 리뷰어의 표정과 음성을 분석하여 영상의 신뢰도를 분석한다. 영상 내 인물 표정의 감성 값을 추출하는 알고리즘을 활용하여 비언어 감성을 정량화하고, 유의미한 감정 변화 구간을 추출한다. 유의미한 감정 변화 구간의 리뷰어 음성을 텍스트화하여 표준어 및 비표준어 감성 사전 활용을 통해 긍정과 부정으로 리뷰에 대한 언어 감성 분석 후 수치화 한다. 비언어 감성 분석과 언어 감성 분석의 결과를 통합하여 일치 여부에 따라 신뢰도를 도출한다. 본 연구를 통해 영상 콘텐츠의 신뢰성 평가 방법을 제시한다.

Neutrality between a Vertically Integrated Cable Provider and an Over-the-Top Video Provider

  • We are concerned with whether a vertically integrated broadband and content provider can unreasonably advantage itself over competing content providers, either by selling quality-of-service (QoS) to content providers at unreasonably high prices, or by refusing to provide access to QoS to competing content. We address this question by modeling the competition between one such vertically integrated provider and one over-the-top (OTT) content provider. The broadband provider decides whether to deploy QoS, and if so it also determines the QoS price if sold to either the OTT content provider or directly to users. We analytically determine when the broadband provider will sell QoS and when the OTT content provider or users will purchase QoS. We characterize the optimal QoS and video service prices. The Internet service provider (ISP)'s market share increases with the difference in the value of the two video services and decreases with the difference in the corresponding costs. Numerical results illustrate the effect of QoS price on content price, the variation of prices and profit with QoS price, and the variation of prices and market shares with the benefit of QoS. The ISP may sell QoS to users at a lower price than when QoS is sold to the OTT provider.

혈액투석 환자를 위한 통합적 관리 프로그램의 개발 및 효과 (Development and Evaluation of Integrated Management Program for Hemodialysis Patients)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop and evaluate an integrated management program to enhance self-efficacy, compliance with sick-role behaviors, symptom management, and biomarker indication in hemodialysis patients. Methods: The integrated management program was developed through a systematic review of literature, analysis of relevant online data, and expert validation. It comprised 480 min of video-based education delivered eight times over four weeks, supplemented by weekly phone consultations and text message support from a nurse. To evaluate the program's effectiveness, it was administered to 44 patients with hemodialysis in a single group in a pre-post test experimental study. Changes in self-efficacy, sick-role behavior compliance, dialysis symptom index, and biomarkers were assessed. Results: The program yielded statistically significant improvements in self-efficacy (t=-7.13, p<.001), sick-role behavioral compliance (t=-7.35, p<.001), dialysis symptom index (t=4.32, p<.001), and blood urea nitrogen levels (t=2.55, p=.014) among the participants. Conclusion: The integrated management program is an effective intervention for improving hemodialysis patients' self-efficacy, compliance with sick-role behaviors, and experience of symptoms. Additionally, it is considered an intervention with high clinical applicability and efficiency through video reproducibility.

Fundamental Research for Video-Integrated Collision Prediction and Fall Detection System to Support Navigation Safety of Vessels

  • Marine accidents caused by ships have brought about economic and social losses as well as human casualties. Most of these accidents are caused by small and medium-sized ships and are due to their poor conditions and insufficient equipment compared with larger vessels. Measures are quickly needed to improve the conditions. This paper discusses a video-integrated collision prediction and fall detection system to support the safe navigation of small- and medium-sized ships. The system predicts the collision of ships and detects falls by crew members using the CCTV, displays the analyzed integrated information using automatic identification system (AIS) messages, and provides alerts for the risks identified. The design consists of an object recognition algorithm, interface module, integrated display module, collision prediction and fall detection module, and an alarm management module. For the basic research, we implemented a deep learning algorithm to recognize the ship and crew from images, and an interface module to manage messages from AIS. To verify the implemented algorithm, we conducted tests using 120 images. Object recognition performance is calculated as mAP by comparing the pre-defined object with the object recognized through the algorithms. As results, the object recognition performance of the ship and the crew were approximately 50.44 mAP and 46.76 mAP each. The interface module showed that messages from the installed AIS were accurately converted according to the international standard. Therefore, we implemented an object recognition algorithm and interface module in the designed collision prediction and fall detection system and validated their usability with testing.

Implementation of MPEG-21 DIA Utility Software for Stereoscopic Video Adaptation

  • This paper presents recent works of the development of MPEG-21 DIA utility software as one of MPEG-21 activities. The main purpose of this work is to make integrated utility software for DIA C/C++ modules in a Java framework. To do this, JNI plays a role of the interface of a main module with C/C++ DIA adaptation modules. Furthermore, DIA and DID parsers are integrated to the utility software. Our software is designed such that all DIA modules are easily integrated. A variety of adaptation modules have been adopted in MPEG-21 standard. Among them, stereoscopic video conversion that is one of DIA adaptation modules is chosen and we show that our utility software is correctly implemented based on experiments.

myEvalSVC: an Integrated Simulation Framework for Evaluation of H.264/SVC Transmission

  • The ever-increasing demand for H.264 scalable video coding (H.264/SVC) distribution motivates researchers to devise ways to enhance the quality of video delivered on the Internet. Furthermore, researchers and practitioners in general depend on computer simulators to analyze or evaluate their designed network architecture or proposed protocols. Therefore, a complete toolset, which is called myEvalSVC, for evaluating the delivered quality of H.264/SVC transmissions in a simulated environment is proposed to help the network and video coding research communities. The toolset is based on the H.264 Scalable Video coding streaming Evaluation Framework (SVEF) and extended to connect to the NS2 simulator. With this combination, people who work on video coding can simulate the effects of a more realistic network on video sequences resulting from their coding schemes, while people who work on network technology can evaluate the impact of real video streams on the proposed network architecture or protocols. To demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed new toolset, examples of H.264/SVC transmissions over 802.11 and 802.11e are provided.

Model for Mobile Online Video viewed on Samsung Galaxy Note 5

  • The primary aim of this paper is to propose a non-linear regression based technique for mapping different network Quality of Service (QoS) factors to an integrated end-user Quality of Experience (QoE) or Mean Opinion Score (MOS) value for an online video streaming service on a mobile phone. We use six network QoS factors for finding out the user QoE. The contribution of this paper is threefold. First, we investigate the impact of the network QoS factors on the perceived video quality. Next, we perform an individual mapping of the significant network QoS parameters obtained in stage 1 to the user QoE based upon a non-linear regression method. The optimal QoS to QoE mapping function is chosen based upon a decision variable. In the final stage, we evaluate the integrated QoE of the system by taking the combined effect of all the QoS factors considered. Extensive subjective tests comprising of over 50 people across a wide variety of video contents encoded with H.265/HEVC and VP9 codec have been conducted in order to gather the actual MOS data for the purpose of QoS to QoE mapping. Our proposed hybrid model has been validated against unseen data and reveals good prediction accuracy.

IVOD와 NVOD 혼합 서비스를 위한 다계층 VOD망의 자원 최적화 (Resource Optimization for Mixed Service of IVOD and NVOD in a Muli-level VOD Network)

  • It is strongly believed that Video on Demand(VOD) will become one of the most promising services for Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network(B-ISDN). VOD service can be classified into two types of services: Near VOD(NVOD) and Interactive VOD(IVOD). Although VOD network requires many kinds of resources, we only consider video servers, programs. and storages. In the network. some video servers should be installed at some nodes(especially, at the root node for NVOD service). so that each node with video server stores video programs and distributes stored programs to customers. We take into account three kinds of costs related with the above resources: a program transmission cost, a program storage cost, and a video server installation cost. There exists a trade-off relationship among those three costs according to the locations of video servers and the kinds of programs stored at each video server. Given a multi-level VOD network and the total number of programs being served in the network. the resource. optimization problem for providing both IVOD and NVOD services is to determine where to install video servers, and which and how many programs should be stored at each video server, in order to minimize the total cost. In this paper we develop an efficient dynamic programming algorithm to solve the problem. We also implement the algorithm based on two different service policies assumed in this paper.
