동영상 저작권 보호를 위한 디지털 워터마킹 기술 (Digital Watermarking Technique for the Copyright Protection of Motion Pictures)

  • 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 데이터의 저작권 보호를 위하여 압축된 비디오 신호에 디지털 워터마크를 삽입하는 방법을 제안하였다. MPEG-2 등과 같이 DCT와 움직임 보상 부호화 방식으로 압축된 비트스트림에서, 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 오브젝트를 추출하고 각 오브젝트에 대역확산 기법을 사용하여 독립적인 워터마크 정보를 삽입하는 방식을 사용하였다. 제안된 방식은 프레임마다 워터마크 정보가 다르게 삽입될 뿐 아니라 평균 조작 또는 통계적인 분석과 같은 공격 방식에도 강인성을 보인다.

  • Eastman Kodak Co. has announced the concept of photo CD System in September, 1990 With Photo CD System technology, Kodak Co. Furnishes a convinent way to view, use and store photographic images. The heart of this system is a format provides progressively higher levels of image quality to meet the demands of NTSC, PAL and HDTV video displays as well as hard copy output. Also, image professionals are instrested in the capability of Photo CD, such as a way to store image at low cost in a high-resolution digital format that can be played back on different computer platforms. Many editors wish to use Photo CD images in the printing and publishing industry. However, Photo CD images were not processed detail enhancement and some others to use in the lithographic offset printing. Therefore, in this paper discribes a method to improve the sharpness of Photo CD images.

Early Termination of Block Vector Search for Fast Encoding of HEVC Screen Content Coding

  • This paper proposes an early termination method of a block vector search for fast encoding of high efficiency video coding (HEVC) screen content coding (SCC). In the proposed algorithm, two blocks indicated by two block vector predictors (BVPs) were first employed as an intra block copy (IBC) search. If the sum of absolute difference (SAD) value of the block is less than a threshold defined empirically, an IBC BV search is terminated early. The initial threshold for early termination is derived by statistical analysis and it can be modified adaptively based on a quantization parameter (QP). The proposed algorithm is evaluated on SCM-2.0 under all intra (AI) coding configurations. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm reduces IBC BV search time by 29.23% on average while the average BD-rate loss is 0.41% under the HEVC SCC common test conditions (CTC).

  • 본 논문은 GUI(Graphical User interface) 환경에서 MPGE-1 영상 편집을 위한 시스템 도구(Tool)를 기술한다. 기존에 출시된 제품은 일반적으로 AVI 나 MOV 포맷(format)을 사용하는데 비하여 본 논문에서는 MPGE-1을 압축 영역 상태에서 편집함으로써 영상의 품질과 저장의 효율성 및 처리속도에 많은 이점을 두었다. 편집 작업은 Random Access 의 기본 단위가 되는 GOP(Group of Picture) 단위의 경계 편집을 사용하여 영상 편집 기능인 Copy, Paste, Cut, Undo등을 기술하였다. 또한 효율적인 편집 환경을 위해 편집 윈도우 형태를 클립 청, 클립 정보 창, 편집 창, 재생 창, 미리 보기 창으로 구분하였다. 편집된 영상은 효율적 재생을 위하여 DirectDraw을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서 소개한 편집 시스템은 GUI 기반으로 사용자에게 익숙한 사용자 인터페이스 환경을 기술하였다.

  • High-quality digital broadcasting contents are susceptible to illegal copy and unauthorized redistribution, which makes broadcasters difficult to protect valuable media assets. So, broadcasters and content providers need the technology for copyright protection of professional digital content. Digital watermarking technology is one of the most actively developed solutions for the copyright protection. This paper suggests the requirements of watermarking technology in DTV(Digital TV) environment for copyright protection and shows the developed real-time watermark embedding/detecting system for HD(High Definition)/SD(Standard Definition) video and experimental results of the system against watermark attack tests. Our watermarking system meets the watermarking requirements of invisibility, robustness and security of DTV environment.

  • We introduce, in this paper, a novel approach of protection mechanism for data which are transmitted not only between the networked devices but also between the digital media devices. As the devices are getting more powerful and more storage capacity, they can process the encoded/encrypted data autonomously. However, all devices must know the secret key that used to encrypt data, and also use secure method to distribute that key. Moreover, there are no protection mechanisms supporting end-to-end copy protection which result in the fact that the data passed through various devices can be manipulated or captured. Therefore, we propose a RFID-based key distribution and protection mechanism to resolve these problems.

  • Digital watermarking is the techinque which embeds the invisible signal into multimedia data such as audio, video, images, for copyright protection, including owner identification and copy control information. This paper proposes a new watermark embedding and extraction technique by extending the direct sequence spread spectrum technique. The proposed technique approximates the frequency component of pixels in spatial domain by using Laplacian mask and adaptively embeds the watermark considering the HVS to reduce the degradation of Image. In watermark extraction process, the proposed technique strengthens the high frequency components of image and extracts the watermark by demodulation. All this processes are performed in spatial domain to reduce the processing time.

  • Digital watermarking is the technique which embeds the invisible signal into multimedia data such as audio, video, images, for copyright protection, including owner identification and copy control information. In this paper, a new watermark detection algorithm by local masking cross covariance between watermarked signal and pseudo noise signal is proposed. The proposed algorithm enhances the detection probability for embedding information. Since reducing detection errors for the weak embedding signals, the algorithm improves the image quality and robusts against illegal attack to delete the embedding information and data compression applications such as JPEG and MPEGs.

  • In this paper, the technical analysis and characteristics of screen content coding (SCC) based on High efficiency video coding (HEVC) are presented. For SCC, which is increasingly used these days, HEVC SCC standardization has been proceeded. Technologies such as intra block copy (IBC), palette coding, and adaptive color transform are developed and adopted to the HEVC SCC standard. This paper examines IBC and palette coding that significantly impacts RD performance of SCC for screen content. The HEVC SCC reference model (SCM) 4.0 was used to comparatively analyze the coding performance of HEVC SCC based on the HEVC range extension (RExt) model for screen content.
