  • Characteristics of the high frequency pulsatile flow have been investigated experimentally to understand the flow phenomena in the hydraulic system. The accumulator in high frequency hydraulic system but that is not effective all frequency zone. Therefore, a hydraulic damper used with accumulator is suggested to reduce the high frequency pulsatile where the accumulator is not effective. The pulsating pressure obtained by Pressure measurement system are analyzed to power spectral density distribution. According to the variations of pump input pressure and actuator acceleration frequency, the pressure is measured with or without an accumulator or pulsatile damper The amplitude of pressure with damper is very lower than those without accumulator or damper due to absorbing function of damper. As the frequency of actuator acceleration is increased, the effect of damper becomes very important to decrease the amplitude of pulsatile Pressure waveform with high frequencies.

  • Characteristics of the high frequency pulsatile flow have been investigated experimentally to understand the flow phenomena in the hydraulic system. One axis fatigue test bed, which is widely used for automobile field test, is used. Four pressure transducers, an amplifier and a A/D convertor are used to obtain the high frequency pulsatile pressure waveform in hydraulic system. The characteristics of frequency are analyzed by power spectrum method. According to the variations of pump input pressure and actuator acceleration frequency, the pressure is measured with or without an accumulator. The amplitude of pressure with accumulator is very lower than those without accumulator due to absorbing function of accumulator. • We fabricated flanged outer races for wheel bearing units using 0.52%C clean steels, and then characterized and studied the transformation behavior. The outer races produced by hot forging and high frequency induction hardening in this study were analyzed through microstructural characterization using OM, SEM, TEM, and X-ray diffractometer and their microhardness depth profiles of the raceway contacted by balls were measured using MVH tester. The surface hardened layers with a uniform hardness profile in the raceway consisting of very fine martensite with sub-micron sized retained austenite could be formed for very short time during high frequency induction hardening after hot forging. The very fine martensite may be transformed on rapid cooling, from the inhomogeneous austenite nucleated on rapid heating in small particles of pearlitic cementite fragmentated by hot forging. On the other hand the sub-micron sized retained austenite may be chemically stabilized due to their extremely small size, from the small austenite nucleated at the grain boundaries.

  • For the stable operation of high speed aerostatic spindle, the low rotational inertia and high damping ratio of spindle shafts as well as high fundamental natural frequency are indispensable. Conventional steel spindles are not appropriate for very high speed operation because of their high rotational inertia and low damping ratio. In this study, the composite spindles with aerostatic bearing were designed and manufactured with carbon fiber/epoxy composite. The fundamental natural frequency of the composite spindle was evaluated through the modal testing.

  • In this paper, a ZVS-PWM high-frequency inverter with a PWM control function is applied to commercial system 220[Vrms], and a resonator type ZVS-PWM high-frequency inverter circuit with a fixed-two methods were proposed. The parameters of the transformer model equivalent circuit of a copier fixing device, which is an essential element in the parameter optimization of the proposed circuit, are obtained by using a high-frequency amplifier and its frequency characteristics are described. The proposed method compared to the existing single-ended ZVS-PFM high frequency inverter can suppress the voltage and current peak value of the power semiconductor switching device and reduce the switching loss. The efficiency of the proposed method itself is 98[%] at rated power output. Also, the efficiency of 96[%] can be obtained even at low output, so that the proposed high frequency inverter is very efficient inverter. The total efficiency from the commercial AC input to the inverter output is 93[%] at rated, which is considered efficient for use in copying machines. In addition, the diode bridge loss accounts for the largest portion of the overall system efficiency distribution. On the other hand, the nonparallel filter has a very low loss.

  • The important problem in high speed spindle is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by motor and ball bearings. In this study. the effects of bearing preload and cooling for high speed spindle with high frequency motor are investigated. A high speed spindle is composed of angular contact ball bearings, high frequency motor, grease lubrication, oil jacket cooling, and so on. Heat generation of the bearing and the high frequency motor are estimated from the theoretical and experimental data. The thermal analyses of high speed spindle to minimize the thermal effect and maximize the cooling effect are carried out under the various cooling conditions and preload. Method of variable bearing preload and cooling can be useful to design the high speed motor spindle. The results show that the optimal preload and cooling are very effective to minimize the thermal displacement by motor and ball bearing.

  • In this paper we show that solutions of the nonlinear Nernst-Planck equation possesses the quadruple-layer structure near the interface when the electrolyte receives a high frequency forcing such as a high-frequency alternating current. Very near to the interface wall, the well-known, classical Stern layer exists. Near to the Stern layer we have the secondly thin layer (to be called inner layer in this paper) where the ion concentrations behave under the same frequency as the external forcing. However, in this layer, the positive and negative ion concentrations develop with the time phase 180-degree different from each other. Next to this second layer, we have the third layer (called middle layer) in which two ion concentrations change with the time period double the forcing, and both concentrations behave in the same time phase. In the outermost layer, i.e. the forth layer, (called outer layer) the ion concentrations show the same-phase development as the third one but decaying very slowly in time. Our assertion is mostly based on the 1-D numerical simulation for the Nernst-Planck equation under a high frequency AC field assuming that the quadruple layer is very thin compared with the length scale representative of the bulk region.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel test method to effectively detect hard and soft faults in CMOS 2-stage op-amps. The proposed method uses a very high frequency sinusoidal signal that exceeds unit gain bandwidth to maximize the fault effects. Since the proposed test method doesn't require any complex algorithms to generate the test pattern and uses only a single test pattern to detect all target faults, therefore test costs can be much reduced. The area overhead is also very small because the CUT is converted to a unit gain amplifier. Using HSPICE simulation, the results indicated a high degree of fault coverage for hard and soft faults in CMOS 2-stage op-amps. To verify this proposed method, we fabricated a CMOS op-amp that contained various short and open faults through the Hyundai 0.65-um 2-poly 2-metal CMOS process. Experimental results for the fabricated chip have shown that the proposed test method can effectively detect hard and soft faults in CMOS op-amps.

  • The high operation frequency mainly reduces transformer volume in the power supply. A high frequency and high voltage pulse transformer is designed, fabricated, and tested. Switching frequency of the transformer is 100 kHz. Input and output voltages of the transformer are 250 V and 4 kV, respectively. Normal operation power of the transformer is 3 kW. Maximum volume of the transformer is 400 $cm^3$. The power density is thus 7.5 W/$cm^3$. The transformer will be installed in a metal box that has nominal operation temperature of 85 degree centigrade. The transformer and other high voltage components in the box will be molded with Silicon RTV(Room Temperature Vulcaniza) that has a very low thermal conductivity. Procedure of design and test results are discussed. Analytical as well as experimental results of varous paramters such as transformer loss, leakage inductance, distributed capacitance are also discussed. In addition, thermal analysis results from ANSYS code for three different operation conditions are discussed.
