  • The CRT(cathode ray tube) in oscilloscope consists of an electron gun, horizontal vertical deflection system and a phosphor screen. When the electron beam strikes the phosphor screen, the phosphor generates light. The phosphor screen has formed by CRT precipitation method. But, this method has some defects that are complex process, low yield, much consumption of raw-material, dirty working environment, waste problem, require of high cost. Moreover phosphor for oscilloscope used at present has been imported from Japan. Therefore developments of new phosphor and new method(the screen printing) top form phosphor screen for oscilloscope are required to improve these matters. This study was developed novel method(the screen printing) to form the phosphor screen for oscilloscope used new phosphor. This screen printing method has advantages of simple process, high yield, clean working environment, saving raw material and running-cost.

  • A computational investigation has been carried out to study the heat transfer characteristics of jet vane assembly used for the thrust vector control(TVC) of a vertical launch motor. In this study, the coefficients of convective heat transfer on the jet vane are calculated using the solutions of thermal boundary-layer equation and several semi-empirical equations. The calculation of 3-dimensional temperature distribution for the jet vane assembly was performed using the softwares called PATRAN and ABAQUS. The accuracy of the present numerical method is verified by comparing with the measured and calculated temperatures within jet vane shaft. The temporal variation of jet vane temperatures for three deflection angles(0o, 12.5o, 25o) was discussed.

  • A reliable and accurate method has been developed to predict the flexural deformation response of structural concrete members subject to service load. The method that has been developed relates the extent of concrete cracking, measured as a function of the magnitude of applied moment in a member, to the reduction in the effective moment of inertia of cracked reinforced concrete members under service load conditions. The ratio of the area of the moment diagram where the moment exceeds the cracking moment, to the total area of the moment diagram for any loading, provides the basis for the calculation of the effective moment of inertia. This ratio also represents mathematically a probability of crack occurrence. Verification of this method for the determination of the effective moment of inertia has been achieved from an experimental test program, and has included beam tests with different loading configurations, and shear wall tests subjected to a range of vertical and lateral load levels. Further verification of this method has been made with reference to the experimental investigation of other recently published work.

  • In this paper an analytical model in a closed form able to reproduce the monotonic flexural response of external RC beam-column joints with smooth rebars is presented. The column is subjected to a constant vertical load and the beam to a monotonically increasing lateral force applied at the tip. The model is based on the flexural behavior of the beam and the column determined adopting a concentrated plasticity hinge model including slippage of the main reinforcing bars of the beam. A simplified bilinear moment-axial force domain is assumed to derive the ultimate moment associated with the design axial force. For the joint, a simple truss model is adopted to predict shear strength and panel distortion. Experimental data recently given in the literature referring to the load-deflection response of external RC joints with smooth rebars are utilized to validate the model, showing good agreement. Finally, the proposed model can be considered a useful instrument for preliminary static verification of existing external RC beam-column joints with smooth rebars for both strength and ductility verification.

  • KESF-1 foot conceptually provides storage of potential energy and is converted to kinetic energy throughout the weight - bearing phase of the gait cycle. This stored energy is progressively released as the foot continues through the toe-off phase to rebound and propel the body forward. A weight deflects the keel through a predetermined range, then the keel "springs back" as weight is removed. Foot designs criteria were selected to guide development beyond the proof-of concept composite material keels; 1) store and return energy (1-3/4 " metatarsal deflection at 435 pounds vertical load), 2) natural feel and stability; 3) useful life of 3-years: 4) lightweight; 5) reduced production costs. The purpose of this study is developed the comfortable stable foot that fitted with Korean lifestyle and road condition. The results produced the realistic cosmetic foot cover with polyurethane form and the keel composed with composite materials of both glass fiber and carbon fiber.

  • Excavation works of cylindrical shafts and tunnels for the construction of a variety of infrastructures have been frequently going on in the urban areas. When ground excavations of cylindrical shafts and shallow tunnels proceed in the ground condition of high water level and silt particle component, ground water drawdown involving soil particle migration causes loosening of ground around tunnels and shafts, causes settlement and deformation of ground. Damages due to ground sinking and differential settlement can occur in the adjacent ground and structures. The extent and possibility of damage relevant to ground water drawdown and soil particle migration can't be so precisely expected in advance that we will face terrible damages in case of minor carefulness. This paper introduces two examples of construction management where using incremental deformation graph of inclinometer, we noticed the possibility of soil migration due to ground water drawdown in the excavation process of vertical shaft and shallow tunnel, analysed a series of measurement data in coupled connection, properly prepared countermeasures, so came into safe and successful completion of excavation work without terrible damages. The effort of this article aims to improve and develop the technique of design and construction in the coming projects having similar ground condition and supporting method.

  • The major objective of this study is to investigate the fatigue effects of rail pad on High Speed Railway with concrete slab track system. It analyzed the mechanical behaviors of HSR concrete slab track with applying rail pad stiffness based on fatigue effect(hardening and increasing stiffness) on the 3-dimensional FE analysis and laboratory test for static & dynamic characteristics. As a result, the hardening of rail pad due to fatigue loading condition are negative effect for the static & dynamic response of concrete slab track which is before act on fatigue effect. The analytical and experimental study are carried out to investigate rail pad on fatigue effected increase vertical acceleration and stress and decrease suitable deflection on slab track. And rail pad based on fatigue effect induced dynamic maximum stresses, the increase of damage of slab track is predicted by adopting fatigue effected rail pad. after due consideration The servicing HSR concrete slab track with resilient track system has need of the reasonable determination after due consideration fatigue effect of rail pad stiffness which could be reducing the effect of static and dynamic behavior that degradation phenomenon of structure by an unusual response characteristic and a drop durability.

  • The dynamic behaviors of the bridge structures have great effects on the comfortability and safety of running high-speed trains, which can also reflect the structural degradation. This paper aims to reveal the characteristics of the dynamic behaviors induced by train loadings for a combined highway and railway bridge. Monitoring-based analysis of the acceleration and dynamic displacement of the bridge girder is carried out. The effects of train loadings on the vertical acceleration of the bridge girder are analyzed; the spatial variability of the train-induced lateral girder displacement is studied; and statistical analysis has been performed for the daily extreme values of the train-induced girder deflections. It is revealed that there are great time and spatial variabilities for the acceleration induced by train loadings for the combined highway and railway cable-stayed bridge. The daily extreme values of the train-induced girder deflections can be well fitted by the general extreme value distribution.

  • In this paper, it is intended to introduce a method to solve multi-objective optimization problems and to evaluate its performance. In order to verify the performance of this method it is applied for a vertical roller mill for Portland cement. A design process is defined with the compromise decision support problem concept and a design process consists of two steps: the design of experiments and mathematical programming. In this process, a designer decides an object that the objective function is going to pursuit and a non-linear optimization is performed composing objective constraints with practical constraints. In this method, response surfaces are used to model objectives (stress, deflection and weight) and the optimization is performed for each of the objectives while handling the remaining ones as constraints. The response surfaces are constructed using orthogonal polynomials, and orthogonal array as design of experiment, with analysis of variance for variable selection. In addition, it establishes the relative influence of the design variables in the objectives variability. The constrained optimization problems are solved using sequential quadratic programming. From the results, it is found that the method in this paper is a very effective and powerful for the multi-objective optimization of various practical design problems. It provides, moreover, a reference of design to judge the amount of excess or shortage from the final object.

  • This paper presents design and control of electronic control suspension(ECS) equipped with controllable magnetorheological(MR) damper for passenger vehicle. In order to achieve this goal, a cylindrical type MR fluid damper that satisfies design specification of a middle-sized commercial passenger vehicle is proposed. After manufacturing the MR damper with design parameters, their field-dependent damping forces are experimentally evaluated and compared with those of a conventional damper. A quarter-vehicle MR ECS system consisting of sprung mass, spring, tire, controller and the MR damper is established in order to investigate the ride comfort performances. On the basis of the governing equation of motion of the suspension system, five control strategies(soft, hard, comfort, sport and optimal mode) are formulated. The proposed control strategies are then experimentally realized with the quarter-vehicle MR ECS system. Control performances such as vertical acceleration of the car body and tire deflection are evaluated in frequency domains on random road condition. In addition, performance comparison of WRMS(weighted root mean square) of the quarter-vehicle MR ECS system on random road are undertaken in order to investigate ride comfort characteristics.
