고양이에 대한 사회 인식의 변화는 독립적인 삶을 살아가는 현대인의 라이프스타일과 맞아 반려묘 관련 소비시장은 지속적으로 상승할 것으로 보인다. 반려인들에게 반려동물은 단순한 애완의 목적이 아닌 함께 정서를 교감하며 가족처럼 삶의 전반에 걸쳐 함께 삶을 살아가는 존재가 되어가고 있다. 그러나 반려동물산업의 꾸준한 성장률과 고양이 사육 가구의 수가 급증하고 있음에도 불구하고 이들의 행동과 이해를 바탕으로 한 산업 관련 제품에 대한 연구가 부족하다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구는 고양이의 행동특성을 고려한 가변형 가구디자인을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 가변형 가구는 주거공간의 환경과 변화에 밀접하며, 가구의 재배치를 통해 공간의 변화를 가져온다. 이러한 가변형 디자인 가구는 다기능성 및 가변성의 복합적 특징을 가지고 있어 가구의 기능을 효율적으로 높일 수 있어 반려묘 가구에 적합하다. 본 연구는 디자인 개발 논문으로 반려동물과 반려인에게 보다 나은 환경을 만들 수 있는 디자인 시장의 기초연구가 될 것을 기대하며 연구를 마치고자 한다.

This study is to suggest versatile chair designs that are organically shaped to take individual orientation. This study intends to provide design method to ensure the face of the chair that contacts the body of its user is transformed flexibly to support the body. The movement of human body is not just a behavior but the ways and tools that reflexively express against external stimuli that are sensed and identified by the person. The versatile chair whose users' sitting position is fixed is made by covering the lump form with a piece of cloth ensuring that the content is firmly fixed and by placing the beads-woven wood fabric according to the shape. And then, it is covered with the external cover. The proposed versatile chair designs assume specific forms as follows: First, it is a versatile chair whose user's sitting position can fix. The organically-shaped form that can accept varying postures is made as a mass, which changes into different shapes when human body touches the form so that users can lie down or sit. Due to such transformation, body posture is determined and individual differences in shape changing are all acceptable. Second, it is a versatile chair that reflects the user's position in a fixed chair, where a cloth-wrapper feature is applied to the form a sifit wrapped postures so that a variety of body postures can be accepted. Finally, a versatile chair that reflects the user's position by changing the shape of is covered with forms so that it will be transformed and used in accordance with situations and chair shapes and reflect multiple shapes including round or square ones.

Since luxurious apartments have appeared in Korean common housing, there have been a series of stages in reflecting the demands of residents. However, lifestyles have been restricted to a typified pattern because housing was provided extensively during a short period. The ensuring of residency in common housing lies in seeking how to utilize a given space to the maximum. In the presence of residents, the characteristic of today's housing is not merely satisfied with residents, but provokes the function of a new supplier. Residents are changing by situation (economic, social, cultural, and family types), yet housing is falling short of the change. In particular, it is necessary to closely observe the change in housing by time and space in accordance with both psychological and physical changes of family members. Therefore, this study aims to furnish an opportunity to prepare the foundation of alternatives, which may cope with the future in housing design and furniture design through the latest cases at home and abroad as well as a theoretical background of issues concerning a variable system, which will suit the demands of residents.

This study intended to present a new direction of differentiated and innovative furniture design for small living space overcoming the uniformity of conventional small living. In order to achieve these goals, a new piece of furniture with multi functions useful for such small space has been designed and explained in this study. This new type multi-functional furniture can be utilized as kitchen, dining table, home bar or office stand depending on the user's necessity. In particular, it provides more adaptability to changing life and spatial availabilities for small living space in terms of space division, separation and fusion features. Based on the needs of small living space brought by social changes, the conventional concept of small living space, which divides space by partitions or walls, should be changed into flexible perception of space. Also, this research proposed the features of furniture design for functional shifts in terms of its functional, structural, and systematical aspects. In this respect, space can be regarded as a variable place and the image of space can be differently appreciated by means of shift, functional transition and mobility. That is, small living space can be perceived as kitchen, living space or working space at the same time. In conclusion, the versatile use of limited space can be a solution to the issues related to small living space; the convertible and movable furniture called F4 Island presented in this study can transform such spatially limited space into a space with multiple functions to meet the requirements of its residents.

A simulation system for versatile garment drape has been developed. Using this system, the shape of a garment can be simulated in consideration of fabric physical properties as well as the interaction between fabrics and other objects. Each fabric piece in a garment is modeled using a geometrically constrained particle system and its behavior is calculated from an implicit numerical integration algorithm in a relatively short time. The system consists of three modules including a preprocessor for the preparation of fabric patterns and external objects, a postprocessor for the results of three-dimensional visualization, and a drape simulation engine. It can be used for the design process of textile goods, garments, furniture, or upholsteries.

월리엄 모리스(1834-1896)는 19세기 영국의 지식인중에서도 가장 다재다능한 사람이었다. 그의 사후 백년이 지났지만, 화가 디자이너, 제조업자, 상회경영자, 시인, 작가, 출판인, 인쇄업자, 수집가, 교사, 자원보호론자, 사회운동가, 환경보호론자 둥으로 활약했던 그의 삶과 일은 아직도 전세계에 영향을 미치고 있다. 모리스는 오늘날 그의 매력적인 컬러풀한 패턴으로 가장 잘 알려져 있다. 1861년 모리스는 모리스 마샬 포크너상회(1875년부터 모리스상회)를 설립하여, 스테인드 글라스를 비롯한 타피스트리, 카펫, 프린트물, 직물 둥을 생산해 냈는데, 그러한 디자인은 영국 디자인의 향방에 큰 지침을 주었다. 모리스의 초기의 텍스타일 디자인은 비전문가로서 자신의 필요에 의한 자수작업이었으나, 곧 상업적인 기초를 갖고 텍스타일 제품을 생산해내기 시작한다. 모리스는 제작을 적절히 콘트롤하기 위해서 다양한 텍스타일의 테크닉을 배웠는데, 처음에는 염색, 블록 프린팅, 수직 자카드 둥을 배웠고, 나중에는 카펫과 타피스트리까지 배웠다. 이러한 비상한 제작에 대한 직접적인 참여는, 모리스와 당시의 다른 디자이너들과의 차이점이었고, 그의 성공에도 크게 기석하게 된다. 모리스의 텍스타일 디자인은 자수, 염색, 직물, 카펫 타피스트리 둥의 작품으로 상업적으로 생산되어 널리 상찬을 받았고, 오늘날에도 복제되고 있다. 이것은 그의 디자인이 시대를 초월한 질과 테크닉으로 존중되고 있기 때문이며, 또한, 그의 패턴의 세부에서도 볼 수 있는 자연에 대한 사랑의 중요성 때문이다.
