중국의 자판기 시장은 여전히 가능성의 영역이다. 2008년 북경 올림픽 개최를 계기로 자판기 시장의 큰 성장이 예상되고 있는 반면 자국내 산업 인프라는 제대로 갖추어져 있지 못한 상황이다. 이렇다보니 많은 자판기 관련 해외업체들이 이 시장에 관심을 가지고 시장 진출을 추진하거나 눈독을 들이고 있다. 올 7월 20일부터 22일까지 개최되는 Automatic Vending System & Equipment Exhibition 2006 전시회는 중국시장 진출에 관심을 가지고 있는 업체들에 있어 구미가 당기는 전시회이다. 전시회 참가를 통해 해당회사와 제품에 대한 현지의 반응을 살펴볼 수 있을뿐더러 전반적인 현지 시장조사도 알차게 진행을 할 수 있다. 중국시장 진출을 위한 교두보로 국내 업체도 관심을 가질 필요성이 큰 이번 전시회의 면면을 살펴보기로 하자

Regarding the green environment, it is important to boost the spread of environmentally friendly vending machines and to operate the vehicles for their inventory replenishments while minimizing emissions of greenhouse gases. In general, the vending machine management company lacks capability to operate the supply chain effectively in an integrated way under the dynamic, complex, and stochastic environment. This paper presents a decision support system, termed DSSVM, for the operations of the general and smart vending machine supply chains with stock-out-based, one stage item substitution in a green logistics environment. The DSSVM supports the estimation of item demand and substitution probabilities, determination of operation parameters, supply chain analysis, what-if analysis, and $CO_2$ analysis for which various analytical models are employed.

자판기 관련 종합전시회인 Vending Korea 2005의 개최가 무산되었다. 격년제 전시회인 Vending Korea는 원래대로 라면 지난 2001년, 2003년에 이어 올해 개최가 진행되어야 한다. 하지만 심각한 자판기 산업의 불황 여파는 전시회 개최 자체를 진행하기 힘든 상황을 만들었고, 급기야 주최 측인 협회와 COEX는 차후를 기약하며 금년 전시회 개최를 포기했다. 진한 아쉬움이 남는 Vending Korea의 개최 무산 과연 산업계는 이번 전시회의 무산을 어떠한 시각으로 바라봐야 하는 가. Vending Korea 2005의 개최 무산이 남긴 과제를 살펴보기로 한다.

The operation of vending machine system presents a decision-making problem which consists of determining the product allocation to vending-machine storage compartments, replenishment intervals of vending machines, and vehicle routes, all of which have critical effects on system profit. Especially, it becomes more difficult to determine the operation variables optimally when demand for a product that is out-of-stock spills over to another product or is lost. In this paper, we propose a heuristic for solving the operation problem of the vending machine system and evaluate it by comparing with Yang's algorithm on various test problems with respect to system profit via a computer simulation. The results of computational experiments show a substantial profit increase of the proposed heuristic over Yang's algorithm. Sensitivity analysis indicates that some input variables impact the profit increase significantly.

2007년 자판기 전시회 개최 일정이 잡혔나요? 협회 사무국으로 심심찮게 내년도 VENDING KOREA 개최여부를 묻는 전화가 걸려 온다. 하지만 안타깝게도 내년도 전시회는 무산되었다는 소식을 전해 줄 수밖에 없다. 자판기 분야의 심각한 경기부진은 내년도 전시회 개최를 또 다시 무산시켰다. 이로서 지난 2003년 전시회가 개최된 이래 4년여 동안 차기 전시회가 개최되지 못하는 비운을 맞게 되었다. 실로 안타까운 일이지만 어쩔 수 없다. 개최여건이 안되는 열악한 시장상황에서 무리하게 전시회 개최를 추진하는 것은 무모한 일이다. 차라리 차기 전시회를 위해 힘을 비축하며 쉬어 가는 게 현명하다. 이런 점에서 볼 때 내년은 VENDING KOREA 전시회는 재도약을 위한 충전기이다. 그런데 이런 시기를 보내며 최소한 자판기 전시회의 맥을 잇기 위한 의미 있는 작업이 진행되고 있다. 비록 단독 전시회가 아니더라도 유관 전시회에 자동판매기관을 구성하는 방안이 그 것이다. 협회와 COEX는 2007 프랜차이즈 서울 스프링 전시회에 자동판매기 전시관을 구성하기로 합의하고 본격적인 참가 업체 모집에 들어갔다. 비록 단독 전시회 개최는 무산되었어도 자판기 관련업체들에게 전시회를 통한 대소비자 마케팅 기회를 제공하기 위함이 추진 목적이다. 프랜차이즈 전시회 속에서 새로운 꿈을 꾸게 된 자판기 전시관 구성의 면면을 살펴본다.
