It is advantageous to use NDE methods to assess the mechanical properties of materials since the conventional method is time-consuming and sometimes requires cutting of sample from the component. The NDE parameters such as ultrasonic velocity and attenuation, electric resistivity, and magnetic coercive force and remanance have been utilized to evaluate changes of material properties due to heat treatment condition. It has been found that changes of materials properties under quenched and tempered/PWHT treatments could not be detected using EMAT and Electrical resistivity methods. However, victors hardness and magnetic hysteresis loop decreased with heat treatment procedures. These results were obtained using 3Cr-lMo-0.25V steel. The magnetic parameters were found to be most sensitive to changes of material properties.

The dynamics of the DDWMR depends on the velocity difference of the two driving wheels. And which is known as a type of non-holonomic equation. By this reason, the treatment of DDWMR had become difficult and conservative. In this paper, the differential-driving wheeled mobile robot is considered. The Takaki-Surgeno fuzzy model and a control method for DDWMR is presented. The suggested controller has three control elements. The first element is fuzzy state feedback designed for eliminating the dependence of time-varying parameter. The second element is weighting controller which is designed for good frequency response. The third controller is PI-controller which is designed for good command following and robustness with un-modeled dynamics. In order for achieving the performance objective, the design of controller is based on the loop-shaping algorithm.

This paper deals with the issue of trajectory tracking control of a clamping cylinder for injection moulding machine, which is directly driven by speed controlled hydraulic pump in combination with AC servomotor. As a fundamental step prior to tracking controller design, feedback control system is developed by implementing a position control loop parallel with a system pressure control loop. A sliding mode controller combining velocity feedforward scheme is developed for enhancing the tracking performance. Consequently a significant reduction in tracking error is achieved for both position and pressure control applications.

The in-pile Section (IPS) is subjected to flow-induced vibration(FIV) due to the flow of the primary coolant and then the structural integrity. The in-pile Section (IPS) of 3-pin Fuel Test Loop(FTL) shall be installed in the vortical hole call IR1 of HANARO reactor core. In order to verify the velocity and displacement both the inside region of IPS at the annular region of IPS, the vibration was measured by varing the flow rate on both regions. The displacements of fuel assembly in the in-pile Section (IPS) were found to be lower than the values of allowable design criteria.

In this paper, the power system stabilizer(PSS) using the sliding mode observer-model following(SMO-MF) with closed-loop feedback (CLF) for single machine system is extended to multimachine system. This a multimachine SMO-MF PSS for unmeasureable plant state variable is obtained by combining the sliding mode-model following(SM-MF) including closed-loop feedback(CLF) with the full-order observer(FOO). And the estimated control input for unmeasurable plant sate variables is derived by Lyapunov's second method to determine a control input that keeps the system stable. Time domain simulation results for the torque angle and for the angular velocity show that the proposed multimachine SMO-MF PSS including CLF for unmeasurable plant sate variables is able to damp out the low frequency oscillation and to achieve asymptotic tracking error between the reference model state at different initial conditions and at step input.
This paper describes detent force minimization techniques of Permanment Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) for the improvement of control and the driver system to control the position and velocity, PMLSM are simulated by operating open-loop system and PI control system, and in actuality the control system is implemented by DSP based controller and PWM inverter to investigate the characteristics of both open-loop system and PI control system.

Crane operation for transporting heavy loads inherently causes swinging motion at the loads due to crane's acceleration or deceleration. This motion not only lowers the handling safety but also slows down the handling process. To complement such a problem, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) has designed several anti-swing controllers using open loop and closed loop approaches. They are namely a pre-programmed feedback controller and a fuzzy controller. These controllers are implemented on a 1-ton crane system at KAERI and their control performances are compared. Test operations show that the new controllers are superior to that of conventional cranes in terms of robustness to the disturbances and adaptation capability to the change of rope length.

In this paper, a modified skyhook control for the semi-active Macpherson suspension system is investigated. A new model for the semi-active type suspension, which incorporates the rotational motion of the unsprung mass, is introduced and an output feedback control law using the skyhook control method is derived. The gains in the skyhook controller are adaptively adjusted by estimating the road conditions. Because two vertical acceleration sensors, one for the sprung mass and another for the unsprung mass, are used rather than using the angle sensor for the rotational motion of the control arm, the relative velocity of the rattle space is filtered using the acceleration signals. For testing the control performance, the actual damping force has been incorporated via the hardware-in-the-loop simulations. The performances of a passive damper and a semi-active damper are compared. Simulation results are provided.

In this paper, we provide a robust track-following controller design method for the stable coarse seek control. Due to the inaccurate velocity control during a coarse seek, the shake of fine actuator is generated and thus a gain-up track-following control is required to complete stably the coarse seek. To this end, a loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to estimate accurately the shake of fine actuator. A weighting function can be properly selected from a minimum tracking gain-up open-loop gain, calculated from the estimated shake quantity of fine actuator. A robust tracking gain-up controller is designed by considering a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem using the weighting function. The proposed design method is applied to the coarse seek control system of an optical rewritable drive and is evaluated through the experimental results.
This paper proposes a linear model predictive control of 6-DOF remotely operated underwater vehicles using nonlinear robust internal-loop compensator (NRIC). First, we design a integrator embedded linear model prediction controller for a linear nominal model, and then let the real model follow the values calculated through forward dynamics. This work is carried out through an NRIC and in this process, modeling errors and external disturbance are compensated. This concept is similar to disturbance observer-based control, but it has the difference that H∞ optimality is guaranteed. Finally, tracking results at trajectory containing the velocity discontinuity point and the position tracking performance in the disturbance environment is confirmed through the comparative study with a traditional inverse dynamics PD controller.
