In this paper, we present a full digital control scheme which controls currents and speed of the permanent magnet AC servo motor with large range of bandwidth and high performance. The current equations of the permanent magnet AC servo motor are linearized by feedback linearization technique. Both acceleration feedforward terms and IP controllers, whose gains are functions of motor speed, are used in order to control motor currents. In addition the phase delays in current control loops are compensated by placing phase lead-lag compensators after current commands, which make it possible to avoid high gains in the current controllers. Unity power factor can be achieved by the proposed current controller. Pulsewidth modulation is performed by way of the well-known comparison with a triangular carrier signals. The velocity controller is designed on the basis of the linearized model of the permanent magnet AC servo motor by the proposed current controller. The performance of the entire control system is analyzed in the presence of uncertainty in the motor parameters. The proposed control scheme is implemented using the digital signal processor-based controller composed of an Analog Device ADSP 2111 and a NEC78310. The pulsewidth modulation (PWM) signals are generated through a custom IC, SAMSUNG-PWM1, which has the outputs of current controllers as input. The experimental results show that the permanent magnet AC servo motor can be always driven with high dynamic performance by the proposed full digital control scheme of motor speed and motor current.

PC Skillreporting feedback during cardiopulmonary resuscitaion would improve the performance of chest compression and ventilation during cardiac arrest. BLS skills were measured using Laerdal Skillreporter manikin(Laerdal, Norway) connected to a Laerdal PC Skillreporting system. Ventilation volume, chest compression accuracy, velocity of compression, depth of compression, hand position and chest recoil were measured between the two groups. Ventilation volume was significantly higher in the experimental group than that of control group(p<0.002). Chest compression depth was significantly higher in experimental group than that of control group(p=0.000). The quality of CPR can be improved by the use of PC Skillreporting system.
In this paper, a new rehabilitation training system was developed to improve equilibrium sense of the elderly by combining virtual reality technology with a fixed exercise bicycle. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the training system, the elderly participated as test subject in the investigation of the influence of different the parameters on postural balance control. We measured three different running modes of virtual bicycle system with two successive sets. The parameters measured were running time, velocity, the weight movement, the degree of the deviation from the road, and the variables about the center of pressure. The repeated training, our results showed that the running capability of the elderly improve compared. In addition, it was found out that the ability of postural control and the equilibrium sense was improved with the presentation of the visual feedback information of the distribution of weight. From the results of this experiment, we showed that our newly developed system might be useful in the diagnosis of equilibrium sense or in the improvement of the sense of sight and, somatic, and vestibular sense of the elderly in the field of rehabilitation training.

This paper suggests a design method of an improved phase control loop for tracking resonant frequency of solid type precision resonant gyroscope. In general, a low cost MEMS gyroscope adapts the automatic gain control loops by taking a velocity feedback configuration. This control technique for controlling the resonance amplitude shows a stable performance. But in terms of resonant frequency tracking, this technique shows an unreliable performance due to phase errors because the AGC method cannot provide an active phase control capability. For the resonance control loop design of a solid type precision resonant gyroscope, this paper presents a phase domain control loop based on linear PLL (Phase Locked Loop). In particular, phase control loop is exploited using a higher order PLL loop filter by extending the first order active PI (Proportion-Integral) filter. For the verification of the proposed loop design, a hemispherical resonant gyroscope is considered. Numerical simulation result demonstrates that the control loop shows a robust performance against initial resonant frequency gap between resonator and voltage control oscillator. Also it is verified that the designed loop achieves a stable oscillation even under the initial frequency gap condition of about 25 Hz, which amounts to about 1% of the natural frequency of a conventional resonant gyroscope.
Recently, magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) material and its devices have been developed and attracted a good deal of attention for their potentials in vibration control. Among them, a highly adaptive base isolator based on MRE was designed, fabricated and tested for real-time adaptive control of base isolated structures against a suite of earthquakes. To perfectly take advantage of this new device, an accurate and robust model should be built to characterize its nonlinearity and hysteresis for its application in structural control. This paper first proposes a novel hysteresis model, in which a nonlinear hyperbolic sine function spring is used to portray the strain stiffening phenomenon and a Voigt component is incorporated in parallel to describe the solid-material behaviours. Then the fruit fly optimization algorithm (FFOA) is employed for model parameter identification using testing data of shear force, displacement and velocity obtained from different loading conditions. The relationships between model parameters and applied current are also explored to obtain a current-dependent generalized model for the control application. Based on the proposed model of MRE base isolator, a second-order sliding mode controller is designed and applied to the device to provide a real-time feedback control of smart structures. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated in simulation through utilizing a three-storey benchmark building model under four benchmark earthquake excitations. The results verify the effectiveness of the proposed current-dependent model and corresponding controller for semi-active control of MRE base isolator incorporated smart structures.

In this research, we have developed a ski-simulation system based on a physics-based simulation model using Newton's second law of motion. Key parameters of the model, which estimates skier's trajectory, speed and acceleration change due to skier's control on ski plate and posture changes, were derived from a field test study performed on real ski slope. Skier's posture and motion were measured by motion capture system composed of 13 high speed IR camera, and skier's control and pressure distribution on ski plate were measured by acceleration and pressure sensors attached on ski plate and ski boots. Developed ski-simulation model analyzes user's full body and center of mass using a depth camera(Microsoft Kinect) device in real time and provides feedback about force, velocity and acceleration for user. As a result, through the development of interactive ski-simulation motion recognition system, we accumulated experience and skills based on physics models for development of sports simulator.

To meet the NOx limit without a penalty of fuel consumption, urea-SCR system is currently regarded as promising NOx reduction technology for diesel engines. SCR system has to achieve maximal NOx conversion in combination with minimal $NH_3$ slip. In this study, the performance characteristics of urea-SCR system with open loop control were assessed in the European Transient Cycle(ETC) for heavy duty diesel engine. The SCR inlet temperaure varied in the range of 200 to $340^{\circ}C$ in the ETC cycle. Open loop control calculated the urea flow rate based on the NOx and NSR map which gave for each combination of SCR inlet temperature and space velocity the normalized $NH_3$ to NOx stoichiometric ratio which resulted in a steady-state $NH_3$ slip of 20ppm. During the ETC cycle, the open loop control with the optimized NSR offset achieved NOx reduction of 80% while keeping the average $NH_3$ slip below 10ppm and maximum 20ppm. It was also found that NOx sensor was cross-sensitive to $NH_3$ and a control strategy for cross-sensitivity compensation was required in order to use a NOx sensor as feedback device.

A finite element formulation of vibration control of a laminated plate with piezoelectric sensor/ actuators is presented. Classical lamination theory with the induced strain actuation and Hamilton's principle are used to formulate the equations of motion of the system. The total charge developed on the sensor layer is calculated from the direct piezoelectric equation. The equations of motion and the total charge are discretized with 4 node, 12 degrees of freedom quadrilateral plate bending elements with one electrical degree of freedom. The mass and stiffness of the piezoelectric layer are introduced by treating them as another layer in laminated plate. Piezoelectric sensor/actuators are distributed, but discrete due to the geometry of electrodes. By defining an i.d. number of electrode for each element, modelling of electrodes with variable geometry can be achieved. The static response of a piezoelectric bimorph beam to electrical loading and sensor voltage to given displacement are calculated. For a laminated plate under the negative velocity feedback control, the direct time response by the Newmark-.betha. method and damped frequencies and modal damping ratios by modal state space analysis are derived.
This paper is implemented a control algorithm in order to be stable and minimized to entire train traffic system at delayed case. Signal ing system is described wi th algebraic equations given for train headway, Discrete-event simulation principles are reviewed and a demonstration block signaling model using the technique is implemented. Train congestion at station entrance for short headway operation is demonstrated and the propagation of delays along a platform of trains from any imposed delay to the leading train is also shown. A rail way signaling system is by nature a distributed operation with event triggered at discrete intervals. Although the train kinematic variables of position, velocity, and acceleration are continually changing, the changes are triggered when the trains pass over section boundaries and arrive at signals and route switches. This paper deals with linear-mode1ing, stability and optimal control for the traffic on such metro line of the model is reconstructed in order to adapt the circuits. This paper propose optimal control laws wi th state feedback ensuring the stability of the modeled system for circuits. Simulation results show the benefit to be expected from an efficient traffic control. The main results are summarized as follows: 1. In this paper we develop a linear model describing the traffic for both loop lines, two state space equations have been analyzed. The first one is adapted to the situation where a complete nominal time schedule is available while second one is adapted when only the nominal time interval between trains is known, in both cases we show the unstability of the traffic when the proceeding train is delayed following properties, - They are easily implemented at law cost on existing lines. - They ensure the exponetial stability of loop system. 2. These control laws have been tested on a traffic simulation software taking into the non-linearites and the physical constraints on a metro line. By means of simulation, the efficiency of the proposed optimal control laws are shown.

This paper proposes intelligent control of a virtual walking machine that can generate infinite floor for various surfaces and can provide proprioceptive feedback of walking to a user. This machine allows users to participate in a life-like walking experience in virtual environments with various terrains. The controller of the machine is implemented hierarchically, at low-level for robust actuator control, at mid-level fur platform control to compensate the external forces by foot contact, and at high-level control for generating walking trajectory. The high level controller is suggested to generate continuous walking on an infinite floor for various terrains. For the high level control, each independent platform follows a man foot during the swing phase, while the other platform moves back during single stance phase. During double limb support, two platforms manipulate neutral positions to compensate the offset errors generated by velocity changes. This control can, therefore, satisfy natural walking conditions in any direction. Transition phase between the swing and the stance phases is detected by using simple switch sensor system, while human foot motions are sensed by careful calibration with a magnetic motion tracker attached to the shoe. Experimental results of walking simulations at level ground, slope, and stairs, show that with the proposed machine, a general person can walk naturally on various terrains with safety and without any considerable disturbances. This interface can be applied to various areas such as VR navigations, rehabilitation, and gait analysis.
