In this paper, a magnet-type automatic pipe cutting machine that binds itself to the surface of the pipe using magnetic force and executes unmanned cutting process is proposed. During pipe cutting process when the machine moves around the pipe laid vertical to the gravitational field, the gravity acting on the pipe cutting machine widely varies as the position of the machine varies. That is, with same driving force from the driving motor the cutting machine moves faster when it climbs down the surface of the pipe and moves slower when it climbs up to the top of the pipe. To maintain a constant velocity of the pipe cutting machine and improve the cutting quality, the authors adopted a conventional PID controller with a feedforward effort designed based on the encoder measurement of the driving motor. It is, however, impossible for the encoder at the motor to measure the absolute position and consequently the absolute velocity of the cutting machine in the case where the slip between the surface of the pipe and wheel of the cutting machine is not negligible. As an attempt to obtain a better estimation of the absolution angular position/velocity of the machine the authors proposes the use of the MEMS-type accelerometer which can measure static acceleration as well as dynamic acceleration. The estimated angular velocity of the cutting machine using the MEMS-type accelerometer measurement is experimentally obtained and it indicates the significant slipping of the machine during the cutting process.

A gerotor is used in power-steering units (PSUs) as well as in hydraulic motors or pumps. The inner rotor is developed on the basis of the shape of the outer rotor tooth, which normally has one arc. The method of generating inner rotor on the basis of a generalized shape of outer rotor is analyzed with a view to improve PSU characteristics. An arc-shaped outer rotor with two curvatures was used in the analysis; design parameters such as the shape and curvature of the inner rotor, the flow rate of the gerotor, the position of contact point, and slip velocity are calculated, and these results are shown. This analysis enables us to develop a new design of compact PSUs.
Ground Transportation is one of the most required field that users need positioning information Especially, more precise position can make smart traffic management possible and bring convenience to users. By advanced wireless network, cars can receive the GPS information of reference station in any tim e and any where. Thus land vehicles are possible to process precise positioning. In general, for precise positioning code and phase measurements are used. But receivers provide not only code and phase measurements but also doppler measurements and Doppler is direct measurement of velocity. In this paper, because velocity is very important information required in Ground Transportation, precise positioning for Ground Transportation is studied. For precise positioning RTK(Real-Time Kinematic) was used and double differenced doppler measurements were added, As a Result, positioning error by multipath and cycle slip was soften. However there still remained Positioning error. Thus smoothing technique using doppler measurement in position domain is used for softening positioning error.

In this study, a prediction theory for specific noise that is the overall characteristic of the fan has been proposed. This theory is based on total pressure prediction and broadband noise prediction. The specific noises of two forward curved fans with different number of blades were predicted. The flow around the impeller having 120 blades (MF120) was more biased at a certain positions than the impeller with 40 blades (MF40). An effective domain of the energy conversion of MF40 has extended overall than MF120. The total pressure was affected by the slip factor and pressure loss caused by the vortex flow. The suppression of a major pressure drop by the vortex flow and expansion of the effective domain for energy conversion contributed to an increase in the total pressure of MF40 at the design point. The position of maximum relative velocity was different for each fan. The relative velocity of MF120 was less than that of MF40 due to the deviation angle. The specific noise of MF120 was 2.7 dB less than that of MF40 due to the difference in internal flow. It has been quantitatively estimated that the deceleration in the relative velocity contributed to the improvement in the overall performance.
The vortex ventilation system (VV) which uses a rotating finned swirler installed coaxially with the exhaust duct is a very effective local ventilator. VV can enhance the capture depth by a factor of 3-5 compared to the conventional exhaust hood, in the absence of any solid walls nearby. In real situations there may exist ceiling, side wall and floor, all of which can affect the flow field and suction performance by way of the no-slip condition on the walls. 3D CFD simulation was performed in order to see the effect of the floor on the capture performance of the VV. The presence of floor reduced suction flow velocity, and increased the critical rotational speed which is the rotational speed required for stable vortex formation. Flow velocity profile along the axis could be well approximated by a universal functional form when the distance from the exhaust inlet is non-dimensionalized by the distance to the floor. Capture depth, define by the distance from the exhaust inlet to a point of velocity decreased to 10% of that at the inlet, is reduced by about 10% when the floor distance is 6 times the exhaust hood diameter.
This paper suggests two simple two-degree-of-freedom models to describe the dynamical interaction between the pad and the disc of a disc brake system. Separate models for in-plane and out -of-plane vibration are described. Although a brake pad and disc have many modes of vibration, the interaction between a single mode of each component is considered as this is thought to be crucial for brake noise. For both models, the pad and the disc are connected by a sliding friction interface having a velocity dependent friction coefficient. In this paper, it is shown that this friction model acts as negative damping in the system that describes the in-plane vibration, and as negative stiffness in system that describes the out-of-plane vibration. Stability analysis is performed to investigate the conditions under which the systems become unstable. The results of the stability analysis show that the damping is the most important parameter for in-plane vibration, whereas the stiffness is the most important parameter for the out-of-plane vibration.

A numerical model and a controller of Active Front wheel Steer (AFS) system are designed in this study. The AFS model consists of four sub models, and the AFS controller uses sliding mode control and PID control methods. To test this model and controller an Integrated Dynamics Control with Steering (IDCS) system is also designed. The IDCS system integrates an AFS system and an ARS (Active Rear wheel Steering) system. The AFS controller and IDCS controller are compared under several driving and road conditions. An 8 degree of freedom vehicle model is also employed to test the controllers. The results show that the model of AFS system shows good kinematic steering assistance function. Steering ratio varies depends on vehicle velocity between 12 and 24. Kinematic stabilization function also shows good performance because yaw rate of AFS vehicle tracks the reference yaw rate. IDCS shows improved responses compared to AFS because body side slip angle is also reduced. This result also proves that AFS system shows satisfactory result when it is integrated with another chassis system. On a split-m road, two controllers forced the vehicle to proceed straight ahead.

Numerical stability is studied based on numerics and mathematics. It is frequently observed in the region where velocity is zero. In that region, the Euler equation have numerous solutions and, thus, it is impossible to determine a unique solution with only governing equations. However, a unique solution can be determined by additional outer flow conditions or outer numerical discontinuity calculation since the information or a unique solution under undisturbed conditions is lost by disturbances. In this reason, the numerical scheme comsistent with Euler equations cannot remove shock instability completely.
