  • This paper presents the motorcycle inspection standards development on the vehicle identification, engine and transmission, tyres and wheels, steering and suspension, and brake system. 187 real-world motorcycles are visually and mechanically inspected according to the developed inspection standards. The non-compliance rate of the vehicle identification is 20.3% and main causes are insecure, damaged, and not clearly visible number plate. The non-compliance rate of the brake system is 15.5% and main cause is failing to meet the brake performance requirements. The motorcycle inspections standards are improved reflecting 187 cases of real-world motorcycle inspection results.

  • This paper proposed modelling and design method in suspension system design to analyze sky hook damper system by adopting active robust control theory. Recent in the field of suspension system design it is general to adopt active control scheme for stiffness and damping, and connection with other vehicle stability control equipment is also intricate, it is required for control system scheme to design more robust, higher response and precision control equipment. It is known that sky hook suspension system is better than passive spring-damper system in designing suspension equipment. We analyze location of sensor and actuator in sky hook system and its motion equation, then design robust control system. Numerical example is shown for validity of robust control system design in active sky hook suspension system.

  • It is important that proving ground damage is correlated with target customer usage. This paper describes the test mode for durability test of active suspension control system for proving ground correlation and optimization. Acceleration, strain, wheel force and other types of data are collected on a vehicle as it traverses different proving ground surfaces. The primary objective of the analysis is to determine which mixture of proving ground surfaces offers the best representation of customer usage while minimizing the total test time. And durability testing offers the best way to assess the capability of a product to reach its reliability target. The test should be representative of the real environmental load and replicate the same customer usage.

  • An overlapping decentralized robust EA(eigenstructure assignment) controller is designed for an active suspension system of a vehicle based on a full car model with 7-degree of freedom. Using overlapping decomposition, the full car model is decentralized by two half car models. For each half car model, an effective and disturbance suppressible controller can be obtained by assigning appropriately a left eigenstructure of the system. The performance of the proposed overlapping decentralized robust EA controller is compared with that of a conventional centralized EA controller through computer simulations.

  • In the study, a control strategy using a feedback linearization compensator and a disturbance observer was suggested and applied to a hydraulic control system for a vehicle suspension simulator. Although the hydraulic system has comparatively big external loads composed by constant and varying loads, it is ascertained that excellent control performances are obtained with the suggested control strategy.

  • In this study, a mathematical model for analyzing the shifting transients of the passenger car with an automatic transmission is proposed. The proposed model comprises a power transmission system and a vehicle system, which are coupled. In order to extract the modeling parameters, on-road car test is carried out. The model is composed of a detailed powertrain, an engine/AT housing, a simplified suspension system, tires and a vehicle body model. On the test, the vehicle accelerations and pitch ratio are measured by using accelerometers and a gyro sensor. The speeds, the brake signal, and the throttle position are taken from sensors which already exist in the vehicle. Considering natural ftequencies, which is calculated from the measured accelerations, and the characteristic equation, vehicle model parameters are identified. Dynamic behaviors during upshift or downshift are simulated using the proposed vehicle model. By comparing and analyzing the simulation result and on-road car test data, the vibration of the Engine/AT housing influences the shifting transients. The effect of model parameters are also studied. Among model parameters, the location of engine mountings influences the vibration of the vehicle body.

  • This article deals with the transient analysis using multi-flexible body dynamics of a trailer vehicle, which is passing a bump on the flat road. In order to investigate the transient dynamic behavior of the trailer, we developed an equivalent finite element model for the trailer and a vehicle dynamic model for the truck using multi-body dynamics. The driving condition considered here is set as the trailer vehicle passes a bump on the flat road in 7km/h. And we investigate the time histories of vertical load and deflections on connecting points between the trailer and truck during the vehicle passes a bump. Due to the dynamic load resulted from the driving condition, additional stress concentrations are found in the trailer and the suspension connecting points between the trailer and rear axles along with kingpin.

  • A resonance linear electric generator in a vehicle suspension is a system that performs self-electric generation by collecting the vibration energy when a vehicle runs on a road, and takes the resonance phenomenon to derive large electric generation from slight road surface vibrations. In this paper, the motions of an armature in three different electric generator structures were simulated and the actual generation quantity was calculated and compared with these results. Furthermore, when the vehicle runs on the road, the design improvement for a multi-degree of freedom electric generator was conducted to make the resonance respond to various excitation frequencies, and the change in the resonance points and generation quantity were identified.

  • Most electronic chassis control systems until today have been designed with optimization on its own performance. However, According to the increase of the interest regarding a vehicle safety and development of information technique, the integration technique of current chassis systems is being emphasized. Each enterprise proposed it with name of GCC(Global Chassis Control) or UCC(Unified Chassis Control). This study realizes control algorithm of suspension and brake by using the vehicle model of low degree of freedom as the primary stage of realization of integrated chassis control system. The proposed algorithm build the simulation environment connected to the CarSim having full vehicle model of 27 degree of freedom for raising the thrust of results
