Antinociceptive Effect of Intrathecal Nefopam and Interaction with Morphine in Formalin-Induced Pain of Rats

  • Background: Nefopam, a non-opiate analgesic, has been regarded as a substance that reduces the requirement for morphine, but conflicting results have also been reported. The inhibition of monoamine reuptake is a mechanism of action for the analgesia of nefopam. The spinal cord is an important site for the action of monoamines however, the antinociceptive effect of intrathecal nefopam was not clear. This study was performed to examine the antinociceptive effect of intrathecal (i.t.) nefopam and the pattern of pharmacologic interaction with i.t. morphine in the formalin test. Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were implanted with an i.t. catheter, and were randomly treated with a vehicle, nefopam, or morphine. Formalin was injected into the hind-paw 10 min. after an i.t. injection of the above experiment drugs. After obtaining antinociceptive $ED_{50}$ of nefopam and morphine, the mixture of nefopam and morphine was tested for the antinociceptive effect in the formalin test at a dose of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 of $ED_{50}$, or $ED_{50}$ of each drug followed by an isobolographic analysis. Results: Intrathecal nefopam significantly reduced the flinching responses in both phases of the formalin test in a dose-dependent manner. Its effect, however, peaked at a dose of $30{\mu}g$ in phase 1 (39.8% of control) and $10{\mu}g$ during phase 2 (37.6% of control). The isobolograhic analysis indicated an additive interaction of nefopam and morphine during phase 2, and a synergy effect in antinociception during phase 1. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that i.t. nefopam produces an antinociceptive effect in formalin induced pain behavior during both phases of the formalin test, while interacting differently with i.t. morphine, synergistically during phase 1, and additively during phase 2.

Eugenol, Capsaicin과 Demethoxy - NE가 치수동통 반응에 미치는 영향 (EFFECTS OF EUGENOL, CAPSAICIN AND DEMETHOXY-NE ON THE PAIN RESPONSE OF DENTAL PULP)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the analgesic effect of eugenol, capsaicin and demethoxy-NE. Young adult cats, weighing 2.0 to 3.0kg, were used. Each animal was anesthetized (${\alpha}$-chloralose 60mg per kg body weight) and divided into four groups; control, eugenol, capsaicin and demethoxy-NE group. The anterior digastric muscles were exposed and a pair of electrodes was inserted to record the electromyograms. To expose the pulp, each canine teeth was prepared with a low speed bur under cooling and used for recording anterior digastric muscular EMGs evoked by noxious stimulation of dental pulp. To observe effects on jaw opening reflex, inferior alveolar nerve of both sides were exposed for drug application and wire electrodes were inserted in anterior digstric muscle for recording the EMGs. To observe effects on action potential, saphenous nerves of both sides were exposed and three tissue pools were made from surrounding tissue. The most distal pool was used for applying stimulation, the most proximal one for recording of action potential, and the other one for drug application. One side of inferior alveolar nerve and saphenous nerve were used for eugenol, capsaicin, or demethoxy-NE application, the other side of nerve for control experiments(only vehicle application). Anterior digastric muscular EMGs evoked by noxious stimulation of dental pulp were recorded before drug application, immediate after drug application, at 60 and 120 minutes, and 5 days after drug application. Action potentials were recorded before drug application, immediate after 30 minutes drug application, at 30, 60 and 120 minutes after drug had been washed out. The results were as follows; 1. Eugenol had a continuous blocking effect on the anterior digastric muscular EMGs evoked by noxious pulp stimulation and after 5 days, showed completely blocking effect. 2. After 5 days, demethoxy-NE applied to dental pulp had a considerable blocking effect on the jaw opening retlex evoked by noxious stimulation but capsaicin had no significant effect. 3. After 5 days, eugenol group showed the strongest blocking effect among the all experimental groups on the jaw opening reflex evoked by noxious stimulation of dental pulp and capsaicin group showed the weakest blocking effect. 4. Eugenol had a completely blocking effect on the action potential conductivity of peripheral nerve. Capsaicin and demethoxy-NE had the blocking effect on the action potential conductivity of ${\alpha}$-and C-nerve fibers. 5. Capsaicin, demethoxy-NE and eugenol applied to inferior alveolar nerve surppressed the jaw opening reflex evoked by noxious stimulation of dental pulp.

시멘트 포장공정에서 환기시스템에 따른 발생분진의 제어 (Control of Suspended Dust in Various Ventilation Systems of Cement Packaging Process)

  • 시멘트 포장공정에서 발생하는 비산분진을 효율적으로 제거하기 위해 3가지 환기방식(국소배기시스템, 정전식스크러버시스템, 국소급기시스템)을 도입하고 풍량을 변화시키며 총 9가지의 조건에서 실험을 수행하였다. 분진의 농도는 시멘트분진 입자분포 특성을 고려하여 PM2.5, PM10, TSP로 구분하여 측정하였다. 3가지 환기방식에 대한 집진효율을 분석한 결과, 기존의 국소배기시스템과 정전식스크러버시스템이 같이 사용되는 경우 가장 효율적인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정정식스크러버시스템의 풍량 증가에 따른 입자의 질량농도감소율이 큰 차이가 없는 것을 확인할 수 있었고 이로부터 정정식스크러버시스템을 $2,700m^3/h$ 풍량으로 운전하는 것이 에너지절약 관점에서 효율적인 것이라고 판단되었다. 각 환기방식별 환기성능을 국소배기시스템의 풍량으로 환산한 결과, 대체시스템(정전식스크러버시스템, 국소급기시스템)분진제거성능이 우수한 젓으로 나타났고 정전식스크러버시스템이 국소급기시스템보다 상당히 효율적인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 기존의 국소배기시스템파 정전식스크러버시스템을 동시에 가동한다면 국소배기시스템의 풍량만을 증가시키는 경우에 비해 반송동력을 줄일 수 있어 분진제거와 에너지절감측면에서 훨씬 효율적이라는 것을 알 수 있었다.

자음강화탕(滋陰降火湯)이 Propylthiouracil(PTU)로 유발된 Rat의 갑상선기능저하증에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Jaeumkanghwa-tang on the Rat Hypothyroidism Induced by Propylthiouracil (PTU))

  • Objectives: This study was to evaluate the effect of Jaeumkanghwa-tang (JEKHT) on the propylthiouracil (PTU)-induced rat hypothyroidism. Methods: Six groups, each of 8 rats per group were used in the present study - intact vehicle control, PTU control, Levothyroxine ($LT_4$), JEKHT 500, 250 and 125 mg/kg treated groups. JEKHT were administered once a day for 42 days as an oral dose of 500, 250 and 125 mg/kg, and hypothyroidism was induced by daily subcutaneous treatment of PTU 10 mg/kg for 28 days. The changes on the body and organ weight, serum hormone and lipid profiles, liver and testis antioxidant defense factors were observed with histopathology of organs. Results were compared with $LT_4$ 0.5 mg/kg intraperitoneally treated rats in this experiment. Results: PTU treatment, marked decrease of body weight, increases of thyroid weight, decreases of liver, testis, epididymis and prostate weights, decreases of serum Tri-iodothyronine ($T_3$), and Thyroxine ($T_4$) level with increase of serum Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level, decreases of serum testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) level with increases of serum Follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) level, increases of serum High density lipoprotein (HDL), decrease of triglyceride content, increase of serum Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level, decreases of liver and testis antioxidant defense factors were observed. In addition, marked hyperplasia of follicular cells with decreases of follicular colloid contents and diameters was additionally demonstrated with the decrease of hepatocyte numbers per unit area due to hypertrophy of hepatocytes related to lipid droplet depositions, increase of a/oligospermatic epididymal tubules with epididymal atrophic changes, seminiferous tubular atrophy with decrease of stage I~II seminiferous tubules in testis, prostate tubular atrophic changes at histopathological inspections. However, these PTU induced hypothyroidism and related hepatic and male reproductive organ damages were favorably and dose-dependently inhibited by treatment of JEKHT 500, 250 and 125 mg/kg, and JEKHT also effectively regulated the PTU-induced abnormal antioxidant defense factor changes in the both liver and testis. Conclusions: JEKHT 500, 250 and 125 mg/kg dose-dependently inhibited PTU-induced hypothyroidism and related liver and male reproductive organ damages in rats.

식약처 승인 아토피 피부염 의약품 국내 임상 시험의 특성 - ClinicalTrials.gov 등록 임상시험을 중심으로- (Characteristics of Clinical Trials in Korea for Atopic Dermatitis - Focus on ClinicalTrials.gov Registered Clinical Trials -)

  • Objective : This study summarized the characteristics of clinical trials for atopic dermatitis medicines approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety(MFDS). This study may be a reference for the design of clinical trials of atopic dermatitis herbal medicine treatment which may be carried out later. Method : The characteristics of the clinical trial were analyzed for clinical trials registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, CRIS, and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute among the clinical trial approval statuses posted on the website of the MFDS. Result : 1. Clinical trial drugs were developed in various formulations such as oral medicines, injections, dermatologic agents, and similar proportions. Relatively little clinical trials were found for herbal medicine. 2. In the control evaluation test, most of the treatments for the control group were performed with placebo using Vehicle. 3. In most clinical trials, one intervention group was in the form of a parallel assignment with only one treatment. 4. The age of the subjects was 11 out of 28 studies including minors, and clinical trials targeting minors were also found to be significant. 5. In the case of atopic dermatitis, the cases of subacute chronic or atopic dermatitis more than 6 months or more than 1 year were often used. 6. Most clinical trials were divided into mild to moderate atopic dermatitis or moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. The SCORAD index, EASI, IGA, BSA, and NRS were used as the evaluation criteria. 7. Regulations for the drugs used prior to the trial period for the treatment of atopic dermatitis vary somewhat from one clinical trial to another. 8. IGA was used most often as a primary efficacy tool, and SCORAD index, EASI, and NRS were also used.

저가형 UAV 사진측량의 정밀도 및 정확도 분석 실험에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on Assessing Precision and Accuracy of Low-cost UAV-based Photogrammetry)

  • 저가형 UAV기반 사진측량의 정밀도와 정확도를 평가하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 높은 정확도의 지상기준점과 검사점의 3차원 좌표를 추정하고자 GNSS정지관측과 기선해석, 망조정을 수행하였고, 신뢰수준 95%에 대하여 정확도가 1cm 이내인 좌표를 확보하였다. 실험 대상지에 대한 항공 사진은 DJI Phantom 4와 이에 탑재된 FC330 카메라로 7회 반복 촬영하였고, 이를 두 가지 소프트웨어로 처리하였다. 10개 검사점에 대한 소프트웨어 자동 추출좌표와 GNSS 추정해를 비교하여 표준편차 및 RMSE를 분석하였다. 두 소프트웨어 처리 결과, 95% 신뢰수준에 대해 표준편차는 남북, 동서, 높이 방향 각각 약 1cm, 2cm, 4cm 이내, RMSE는 수평과 높이 각각 9cm, 8cm 이내였으며, 표준편차가 RMSE에 비해 현저히 작았다. 두 소프트웨어 처리 결과의 통계적 차이를 확인하고자 F-ratio 검정을 수행하였다. 정밀도에 대해서는 모든 좌표 성분에 대해 한쪽꼬리 검정의 귀무가설이 기각되었고, RMSE에 대해서는 수평에 대한 것만 기각되었다. 이에 따라, 동일한 사진 자료를 처리하더라도 소프트웨어에 따라 그 결과에 통계적 차이가 있을 수 있음에 유의할 필요가 있다.

시간압력 스트레스와 유도된 분노가 운전 수행에 미치는 영향: 운전 시뮬레이션 연구 (Effects of Time Pressure and Induced-Anger on Driving Performance: A Simulation Study)

  • 본 연구는 운전 수행 중에 실험적으로 유도된 시간압력과 운전자의 분노가 운전 수행에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 운전시뮬레이션 방법을 통해 살펴보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 네 가지의 실험 조건(통제 조건, 시간압력 조건, 분노유도 조건, 그리고 시간압력과 분노유도가 혼합된 조건)에 따라 운전자들이 보이는 운전 수행의 여러 측면들(침선침범, 신호무시, 속도유지 실패 및 경로이탈)을 분석하여 비교하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1) 일반적으로, 아무런 스트레스가 주어지지 않았던 통제 조건에 비해 유도된 분노에 의한 스트레스나 시간압력과 분노가 혼합된 형태의 스트레스에 의해 실험참가자들의 차량 통제 수행이 저하되었으나, (2) 시간압력만 주어질 경우, 통제집단에 비해 속도유지 실패의 빈도는 더 많았으나 다른 종속치들에 대해서는 통제집단과 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 그리고 (3) 분노만 유도된 조건과 분노와 시간압력이 모두 유도된 조건 사이에는 모든 종속측정치들에서 차이가 관찰되지 않았다. 본 연구 결과를 전체적으로 고려해 보면, 시간압력에 의한 스트레스와 유도된 분노에 의한 스트레스가 운전 수행에 차별적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 것을 시사한다.

직접분사식 암모니아 전소 엔진에서 점화 시기와 공기과잉률의 변경에 따른 연소 및 배기, 효율 특성 비교 (Comparison of Combustion, Emissions and Efficiency Characteristics as Varying Spark Timings and Excess air ratios in an Ammonia-fueled Direct Injection Spark Ignition Engine)

  • 산업혁명의 발달로 인해 급격하게 증가된 온실가스 배출량을 저감하기 위해 배기 배출물 규제가 계속해서 강화되고 있다. 이를 만족시키기 위해선 친환경 연료의 사용은 필수적이다. 미래의 친환경 연료로서 수소가 주목받고 있지만, 물질적 특성으로 인해 취급과 보관에 큰 어려움을 겪고 있어, 이에 대안으로 암모니아가 제안되었다. 암모니아는 수소 대비 상온 조건에서 쉽게 액화가 가능하며, 에너지밀도가 높다. 이에 엔진의 연료로서 암모니아의 적용성을 검토하기 위해 직접분사식 암모니아 전소 엔진에서 연소제어인자의 변경에 따른 실험을 진행하였다. 본 실험은 점화시기(Spark Timing)와 공기과잉률(Excess Air Ratio) 두 개의 변수를 변경하여 실험을 진행하였다.엔진 속도 1,500 RPM 및 중부하 이상(제동 토크 200 Nm)의 조건에서 암모니아 전소를 하였을 때, 연소 안정성과 질소산화물, 미연 암모니아 등의 배기 배출물의 경향을 관찰하였다. 연소제어인자의 최적화를 통해 암모니아만을 연료로 사용한 경우에도 안정적인 연소가 가능한 조건을 찾을 수 있었고, 향후 운전영역 확장을 위한 전략을 적용할 계획이다.

설비공학 분야의 최근 연구 동향 : 2016년 학회지 논문에 대한 종합적 고찰 (Recent Progress in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Research : A Review of Papers Published in the Korean Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering in 2016)

  • This article reviews the papers published in the Korean Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering during 2016. It is intended to understand the status of current research in the areas of heating, cooling, ventilation, sanitation, and indoor environments of buildings and plant facilities. Conclusions are as follows. (1) The research works on the thermal and fluid engineering have been reviewed as groups of flow, heat and mass transfer, the reduction of pollutant exhaust gas, cooling and heating, the renewable energy system and the flow around buildings. CFD schemes were used more for all research areas. (2) Research works on heat transfer area have been reviewed in the categories of heat transfer characteristics, pool boiling and condensing heat transfer and industrial heat exchangers. Researches on heat transfer characteristics included the results of the long-term performance variation of the plate-type enthalpy exchange element made of paper, design optimization of an extruded-type cooling structure for reducing the weight of LED street lights, and hot plate welding of thermoplastic elastomer packing. In the area of pool boiling and condensing, the heat transfer characteristics of a finned-tube heat exchanger in a PCM (phase change material) thermal energy storage system, influence of flow boiling heat transfer on fouling phenomenon in nanofluids, and PCM at the simultaneous charging and discharging condition were studied. In the area of industrial heat exchangers, one-dimensional flow network model and porous-media model, and R245fa in a plate-shell heat exchanger were studied. (3) Various studies were published in the categories of refrigeration cycle, alternative refrigeration/energy system, system control. In the refrigeration cycle category, subjects include mobile cold storage heat exchanger, compressor reliability, indirect refrigeration system with $CO_2$ as secondary fluid, heat pump for fuel-cell vehicle, heat recovery from hybrid drier and heat exchangers with two-port and flat tubes. In the alternative refrigeration/energy system category, subjects include membrane module for dehumidification refrigeration, desiccant-assisted low-temperature drying, regenerative evaporative cooler and ejector-assisted multi-stage evaporation. In the system control category, subjects include multi-refrigeration system control, emergency cooling of data center and variable-speed compressor control. (4) In building mechanical system research fields, fifteenth studies were reported for achieving effective design of the mechanical systems, and also for maximizing the energy efficiency of buildings. The topics of the studies included energy performance, HVAC system, ventilation, renewable energies, etc. Proposed designs, performance tests using numerical methods and experiments provide useful information and key data which could be help for improving the energy efficiency of the buildings. (5) The field of architectural environment was mostly focused on indoor environment and building energy. The main researches of indoor environment were related to the analyses of indoor thermal environments controlled by portable cooler, the effects of outdoor wind pressure in airflow at high-rise buildings, window air tightness related to the filling piece shapes, stack effect in core type's office building and the development of a movable drawer-type light shelf with adjustable depth of the reflector. The subjects of building energy were worked on the energy consumption analysis in office building, the prediction of exit air temperature of horizontal geothermal heat exchanger, LS-SVM based modeling of hot water supply load for district heating system, the energy saving effect of ERV system using night purge control method and the effect of strengthened insulation level to the building heating and cooling load.

우리나라 공역 법제의 개선방안 (A Study on the Improvement of Airspace Legislation in Korea)

  • 최근들어 '공역'은 뜨거운 이슈가 되었는데, 의외로 우리나라의 공역 법과 제도에 대해 전체적으로 설명된 자료는 없어, 민 군 공역 법제와 실무를 함께 정리하여 보았다. 우리나라의 항공법 분야는 적어도 법적인 측면에서는 민간항공기와 군용항공기 관련 법은 완전히 분리되어 있다. 국토부교통부장관은 "항공안전법"에서 부여된 각종 권한을 갖고 업무를 수행한다. 우리나라 항공관련 내용은 너무 많은 사항을 국토부 고시나 규정으로 규율하고 있고, 그 고시나 규정들도 상위 법규의 어떤 조항과 연결되는지 잘 알 수 없는 것들이 많다. 따라서, 현행 고시의 내용을 검토해서 가능한 법규명령으로 하도록 노력할 필요가 있고, 고시 내용도 위임된 사항에 한하여 구체적으로 명확하게 서술되도록 정비할 필요가 있다. 공역체계에 있어서는, 일반인이 이해하기에는 공역 분류체계가 너무 복잡하고, 법규와 실무의 괴리도 일부 있어 보인다. 따라서, 단순하면서도 실무현실에 부합하는 공역 분류 체계로 재정립해 보는 것은 어떤가 생각된다. 군에서 하는 공역이나 항공 관련 업무는 국토교통부장관으로부터 위탁받은 것과 군 고유의 권한을 명확히 구분해서 이해할 필요가 있다. 국토교통부 위탁사항과 관련해서는, 본래 국토교통부의 업무이기 때문에 관련 업무 지침 작성시 국토교통부와 긴밀히 협조해야 하고, 현재 국토교통부에서 국방부로 위탁한 것을 대부분 예하 비행단급까지 재위임하고 있는데 재위임 부대의 적정성을 한 번 고민해 볼 필요가 있고, 관련 지침의 작성 주체도 명확히 해 둘 필요가 있다. 군사작전활동으로서의 공역통제와 관련해서는, '노력의 통일'과 같은 공역통제에 관한 군사교리에 충실한 정책이나 지침이 필요하다.
