철도차량 윈도와이퍼 우적 System 적용 검토 고찰 (Railway Car Window wiper System Application Investigation)

  • The research will be essential that the method for strengthening safety are safe installations in a hardware portion, a safe running ceremony of the vehicle employee (an engine driver) and the estimate of the situation which is accurate. In railway car the window wiper which is auxiliary equipment for safe operation is changed the existing manual control method with automatic correspondence precipitation used raindrops censor which can assure the vision of driving. It can be easy to safe driving as might have expected the object. We carried out studies technical review investigation which can accomplish the best suited wiping speed in maintaining an introduction existing system in the manual control system applied the existing train and corresponding to precipitation. The observation fact in the studies can be possible to ensure safety operation. That is, Manual operation method (of the driver) to add the automatic speed adjust function can operate improved window wiper drive system when it rains and, as was expected, it is able to ensure the range of a good railroad driver's vision and to concentrate in working at rainfall.

차량용 블랙박스 영상에서의 실시간 기상정보 검지 (Detection of The Real-time Weather Information from a Vehicle Black Box)

  • 오늘날 교통환경의 고도화는 지능형 교통 시스템(Intelligent Transportation System)과 함께 진행되고 있으며 차량용 블랙박스, 모바일기기 등의 대중화와 함께 안전하고 편리한 서비스를 제공하는데 일조하고 있다. 교통상황은 다양한 원인에 의해 시시각각 변화하며, 특히 갑작스러운 폭우, 우박, 눈길 등과 같이 공공의 힘으로 제어할 수 없는 외부 요인으로 인해 운전자가 이를 대비하지 못하여 큰 사고로 이어지는 경우가 비일비재하다. 이를 방지하기 위해 운전자간 실시간으로 기상정보를 전달하는 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문은 실시간 기상정보전달을 위한 기상정보 검지알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 알고리즘은 와이퍼의 움직임과 맑은날의 히스토그램 간 Contrast를 이용하여 기상상황을 검지한다. 일반적으로 악천후 상황에서 와이퍼를 사용하게 되며, 눈이나 비 등에 따라 다른 Contrast값을 가지게 된다. 이를 이용해 맑은 상황, 눈이 오는 상황, 눈이 쌓인 상황, 비오는 상황 등을 판단하였다. 우선, 연산량을 줄이기 위해 와이퍼를 검지할 수 있는 최소영역을 ROI(Region Of Interest)로 지정하고, 차량 와이퍼의 밝기를 임계값으로 하는 Thresholding 연산을 통해 와이퍼를 검출하였다. 또한, 맑은 날과 악천후상황의 Value 값을 이용해 Contrast를 구하였으며 이를 통해 각각의 기상상황을 구별하였다. 실험결과 비오는 상황은 약 87%, 눈이 내리는 상황은 약 82% 검지율을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 전세계적으로 기후 변화의 영향에 따른 차량 추돌 사고에 대한 위험성이 중요한 이슈로 등장하고 있다. 고속주행차량의 속도제한을 위해 다양한 형태의 속도제한 표시장치가 고려되고 있으나 현재는 대부분 고정식 속도제한 표시기를 사용하고 있다. 4계절이 뚜렷한 우리나라의 경우에는 비가 많이 오는 우기나 눈이 많이 오는 계절이나 안개가 많이 발생되는 경우에는 차량 추돌 사고를 방지하기 위한 차량 속도 감속 제한이 필요하지만 기존에 설치되어 있는 고정식 표지판으로는 사고를 미연에 방지하는 것이 어려운 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 레인 센서와 차량 와이퍼 시스템 등을 결합 시킨 기후 변화에 따른 차량 속도 제한이 가변적으로 표시되는 LED 전광판의 프로토타입 모델을 제작하였다. 내리는 비나 눈의 양에 따라 기준속도의 100%, 80%, 50%로 3단계로 가변 표시되는 속도제한 표시기는 설치되는 장소에 따라 적절한 속도를 선택 지정하여 표시할 수 있다. LED 표시장치를 이용한 시각적인 효과로 인해 운전자들이 사전에 속도를 감속하게 하여 차량 추돌 사고를 미연에 방지하는데 효과적으로 이용될 것으로 기대 된다.

A Study of Innovation and Internationalization Strategies by a Hidden Champion Firm in Korea: The Case of CAP Corporation

  • Purpose - This case study analyzes the internationalization strategy and innovation strategy as key factors contributing to the business success of CAP, a small and medium-sized manufacturing company in Korea producing auto parts such as wipers. This study describes the diversification strategies conducted by CAP Corporation and highlights the company's core competencies that have largely contributed to their global competitive success. Research design, data, and methodology - This paper provides in-depth case study on how CAP was able to grow into a hidden champion company, focusing on their strategies since its establishment. In particular, by analyzing the success factors centering on CAP's aggressive innovation strategy and internationalization strategy, it presents guidelines for small and medium-sized enterprises in Asian countries to become a Hidden Champion company. Result - CAP's product technology has successfully established innovative system on their product called 'vertebra spring' to distribute uniform pressure to the rubber to ensure performance as well as durability of their products. In order to continue benefiting from utilizing core competence and to continue pursuing technological advancement in the wiper industry, CAP has launched a wide range of products (flat blade, conventional blade, hybrid blade) applicable to 95% of the vehicle in the market. Conclusion - Taken together, CAP has many aspects of a hidden champion company by investing in R&D up to 8% of its annual sales to R&D investment even during the crises situation. This number is about 3.36 times higher than the average ratio of listed companies in Korea. Furthermore, the leadership of the management team as well as their vision toward the global market and strong commitment to innovation enabled CAP to become the world's fifth-largest wiper and Asia's No. 1 wiper manufacturer.

  • With the increasing the importance of emotional quality of vehicle, the sound quality of systems with electric motor components has become increasingly important. Electric motors are used for windows, seats, sun roof, mirrors, steering columns, windshield wiper, climate control blowers, etc. In this paper, a study was conducted to identify sound quality factors that contribute to customer's satisfaction and preference of the window lift system. Jury test for subjective evaluation was carried out and sound quality index was developed. Averaged sound pressure level and sharpness were significant factors when glass moves down. Also, maximum loudness at stop section and averaged loudness were significant factor when glass moves up. Noise source identification was carried out for the reduced the loudness and sharpness during glass transferred section and impulsive noise at stop section, Using the source identification result, several improvement points were applied. And finally, the degree of sound quality improvement was judged using sound quality index.

Development and Evaluation of Smart Secondary Controls Using iPad for People with Hemiplegic Disabilities

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate smart secondary controls using iPad for the drivers with physical disabilities in the driving simulator. Background: The physically disabled drivers face problems in the operation of secondary control devices that accept a control input from a driver for the purpose of operating the subsystems of a motor vehicle. Many of conventional secondary controls consist of small knobs or switches that physically disabled drivers have difficulties in grasping, pulling or twisting. Therefore, their use while driving might increase distraction and workload because of longer operation time. Method: We examined the operation time of conventional and smart secondary controls, such as hazard warning, turn signal, window, windshield wiper, headlights, automatic transmission and horn. The hardware of smart secondary control system was composed of iPad, wireless router, digital input/output module and relay switch. We used the STISim Drive3 software for driving test, customized Labview and Xcode programs for interface control of smart secondary system. Nine subjects were involved in the study for measuring operation time of secondary controls. Results: When the driver was in the stationary condition, the average operation time of smart secondary devices decreased 32.5% in the normal subjects (p <0.01), 47.4% in the subjects with left hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) and 38.8% in the subjects with right hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) compared with conventional secondary devices. When the driver was driving for the test in the simulator, the average operation time of smart secondary devices decreased 36.1% in the normal subjects (p <0.01), 41.7% in the subjects with left hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) and 34.1% in the subjects with right hemiplegic disabilities (p <0.01) compared with conventional secondary devices. Conclusion: The smart secondary devices using iPad for people with hemiplegic disabilities showed significant reduction of operation time compared with conventional secondary controls. Application: This study can be used to design secondary controls for adaptive vehicles and to improve the quality of life of the people with disabilities.

C-ITS 기반 PVD를 활용한 실시간 고속도로 강수정보 수집에 관한 연구 (A Study to Provide Real-Time Freeway Precipitation Information Using C-ITS Based PVD)

  • 오늘날 도로의 기상정보를 제공하기 위해 기상청에서 관리하는 기상관측 지점의 관측데이터를 활용하여 기상관측 지점 인근의 도로 기상상태를 도로관리자와 도로이용자에게 제공하는 방식을 취하고 있다. 하지만, 강수량 수집지점과 기상정보 제공 대상 도로와의 거리와 자연지형으로 인해 현실적으로 정확한 기상정보의 제공이 어려운 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 고속도로 C-ITS로부터 수집되는 PVD(Probe Vehicle Data)에 포함되어있는 수집시간, 좌표정보, 와이퍼 정보 등을 활용하여 노선 전체에 걸쳐 실시간 강우 정보를 추출함으로써 기존 지점 단위의 기상청 강우 정보제공의 한계를 극복해 보고자 한다. C-ITS 기반 PVD로부터 추출된 와이퍼 정보와 기상청 기반 정보를 비교해본 결과 강우강도에 관계없이 두 정보는 대체로 유사함을 알 수 있었으며, 시간당 누적강수량이 많아질수록 일치 확률이 높아지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 기존 도로의 기상정보 제공방법의 한계점을 극복하기 위해 C-ITS 기반 PVD를 활용했다는 점과 향후 다양한 지역에서 수집될 것으로 예상되는 PVD의 새로운 활용방안을 제시했다는 측면에서 의의가 있다.
