한라산 영실지역 구상나무림의 식생구조 연구 (A Study on the Vegetation Structure of Abies koreana Forest in Yeongsil Area of Hallasan Mountain)

  • This study's purpose was to provide basic data for the monitoring of ecological changes caused by change of vegetation structure of Abies koreana forest in a study site susceptible to climatic change in Yeongsil area of Hallasan Mountain, Jeju Island. Surveys revealed this: in Yeongsil area of Hallasan Mountain, per 1 ha of A. koreana forests, total number 1,781, and A. koreana number 989, accounting for 55.5% of the total number of trees. 190 A. koreana or 19.2% were found to be dead. For the number of individual trees by DBH, trees standing 5 cm - 10 cm tall formed the largest portion at 39.9%, and in the case of other trees except A. koreana, the number of individual trees below 5 cm accounted for 23.5% of the total number of trees. The survey of importance by height revealed this: at the top level, the importance of A. koreana was the highest at 106.23, but the sum of importance of temperate deciduous broad-leaved trees (Prunus maximowiczii, Quercus mongolica, and Taxus cuspidata) was higher at 142.84 than that of A. koreana. The analysis of species diversity revealed 0.645 species diversity for the tree layer and 0.817 for the shrub layer; for evenness, 0.549 for the tree layer and 0.664 for the shrub layer; for dominance value; 0.451 for the tree layer and 0.336 for the shrub layer. The analysis of tree vitality revealed that for the A. koreana forests in Yeongsil, the composition ratio of A. koreana by type is AS type>AL type>DS type>DB type, and that of the other trees is AL type>AS type>AF type>AB type. Compared with the forests in other areas, the A. koreana forests in the Yeongsil area have a very high occurrence rate of dead trees, and a high importance of trees is shown in the deciduous broad-leaved tree forests. Compared with the A. koreana forests in the Jindallaebat area, with the same level above sea, the vegetation structures are fast changing. Also, due to dryness and other non-physical environmental changes caused by a lack of rainwater and dry winds in winter, dead trees are fast increasing in number. Environmental changes such as climate change diversely affect the maintenance of A. koreana in individual areas, and if environmental changes are fast and continue long, of the A. koreana forest areas in the Hallasan Mountain, the A. koreana forests in the Yeongsil area will decrease fastest in number and will experience changes in the vegetation structure. Thus, it is necessary to survey the vegetation changes in A. koreana forests, which are distributed in all directions but are centered on Hallasan Mountain, and to thus conduct long-term monitoring and research.

교행식생 영역을 갖는 개수로 흐름에서의 3차원 수치모의 (Three-Dimensional Numerical Simulations of Open-Channel Flows with Alternate Vegetated Zones)

  • 본 연구에서는 흐름방향으로 식생 영역이 교차적으로 식재된 교행식생 수로에서의 3차원 수치모의를 수행하였다. 지배방정식에서의 난류 폐합을 위해 ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ 모형을 적용하였으며, 수치모형은 Olsen(2004)이 개발한 3차원 모형을 이용하였다. 먼저, 3차원 수치모형을 이용하여 하상의 일부가 식재된 부분 식생 수로를 수치모의 하고, 계산된 적분유속 및 레이놀즈응력을 기존의 실험 결과와 비교하였다. 그 결과 본 모형이 식생 수로에서의 평균 유속 분포를 매우 잘 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ 모형이 등방성 모형이므로 식생과 비식생 영역의 경계면 부근에서 발생되는 운동량 교환 효과를 정확히 예측할 수 없는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 주흐름방향으로 식생 영역이 교차적으로 존재하는 교행식생 수로를 수치모의 하고, 계산된 유속 분포를 기존의 실험 결과와 비교한 결과, 계산 유속과 실험 결과가 매우 잘 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 다양한 밀도에 따른 유속 벡터도를 계산한 결과, 식생밀도가 증가함에 따라 식생이 흐름 방향을 변화 시켜 점차 만곡수로와 유사한 형태의 유속 벡터도를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 식생 밀도 ${\alpha}$가 9.97%인 경우에는 식생 반대 측벽 영역에서 재순환 흐름이 형성되는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 식생 밀도에 따른 단면 유속 분포도 및 편수위 변화를 살펴보았다.

  • Oreurinus cutspidatus Ito, the type species of the monotypic genus oreurinus Ito, is redescribed and illustrated in light of newly discovered male specimens from Korea. In Mt. Gachilbong, a number of males were found sitting on rocks along the mountain stream of deep woods while only a single female was swept from nearby vegetation. Based on morphological data, especially using postabdominal structures, Oreurinus is placed in the Trypeta group of the subtribe Trypetina (Trypetinae: Trypetini).

  • By use of RS and GIS, the QuickBird image and geographic map were used for the survey of the foreshore resources of Shanghai. The image was processed and interpreted. The distribution maps of sea dike, foreshore, vegetation, soil, hydraulic structures, landscape, topography, and so on were extracted in manual classification. These data have been integrated into the information management system for the shoreline and foreshore. It plays an important role in the evolvement analysis of the shoreline and foreshore.

중·소하천에서 물리적 구조의 교란과 하안식생 귀화율의 관계 (The Relationship between Disturbances of Hydromorphological Structures and Naturalized Plants Ratio in Small and Mid-sized Streams)

  • Current ecological stream restoration is focusing on recovery of physical characteristic and ecological functions of individual stream. For effective stream restoration, the relationship between stream environment and riparian flora should be investigated. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between disturbance of hydromorphological structures and naturalized plants ratio in small to mid-sized streams. For the study sites, Gwanpyeong stream, Dongdal stream, and Yongchoo streams were chosen as 'reference stream' while, Gunnam stream, Anchang stream, and Hwa stream were chosen as 'damaged stream'. The hydromorphological structures of streams were evaluated with LAWA and flora of the streams were completely enumerated to calculate naturalized plants ratio. The result showed that there was a significant correlation between the outcome of LAWA and naturalized plants ratio(r=0.675, p<0.01). The result of factor analysis of LAWA identified three factors, 'River front and land use', 'River bed materials and structures', and 'Crossing structure and bar'. Among the factors of hydromorphological structures given by the result of factor analysis, 'river front and land use' and 'bed materials and structures' have statistically significant relationship with naturalized plants ratio($R^2$=0.470, p<0.01). Given this results, quantitative analysis on the relationship between disturbance of hydromorphological structures of streams and naturalized plants ratio could provide some essential information for stream restoration. Also, as this study figured out major factors of hydromorphological structures that affect naturalized plants ratio, it might help monitor ecological states and current problems of small and mid-sized streams.

Reinforcing effect of vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) root in geotechnical structures - experiments and analyses

  • Vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides) is being effectively used in many countries to protect embankment and slopes for their characteristics of having long and strong roots. In this paper, in-situ shear tests of the ground with the vetiver roots have been conducted to investigate the stabilization properties corresponding to the embankment slopes. Numerical analyses have also been performed with the finite element method using elastoplastic subloading $t_{ij}$ model, which can simulate typical soil behavior. It is revealed from field tests that the shear strength of vetiver rooted soil matrix is higher than that of the unreinforced soil. The reinforced soil with vetiver root also shows ductile behavior. The numerical analyses capture well the results of the in-situ shear tests. Effectiveness of vetiver root in geotechnical structures-strip foundation and embankment slope has been evaluated by finite element analyses. It is found that the reinforcement with vetiver root enhances the bearing capacities of the grounds and stabilizes the embankment slopes.

도시하천의 환경특성과 친자연적 계획전략 - 춘천시 공지천을 대상으로 - (Environmental Characteristics and Nature-friendly Planning Strategies for an Urban Stream - The Case of Chuncheon's Gongji Stream -)

  • This study analyzed characteristics of natural and human environments in Chuncheon's Gongji stream, and suggested nature-friendly planning strategies for self-purification of water quality, biodiversity improvement and conservative waterfront recreation. The environmental analysis included streambed structures, floodplain soils, water quality, vegetation, wildlife, and human facilities. Natural colonization of vegetation for the middle section of the study stream was obstructed by a straightened concrete revetment of baseflow channel, and vehicle movement and concrete parking lots across the floodplain. These human disturbances also deteriorated the naturalness of the stream landscape and limited habitation of bird species. However, natural sedimented wetlands in half of the channel width for the lower section of the stream contributed to a desirable vegetational landscape and greater bird occurrence. Based on BOD measurements, water quality of the stream fell under class $II{\sim}III$ of the stream water-quality standard, but it was worse around sewage outlets due to incomplete sewage collection especially during the dry season. Dominant fish species included typical inhabitants of good water-quality streams that are tolerant of adverse habitat changes. Nature-friendly planning strategies were established based on analysis of the environmental characteristics. They focused on not merely spatial zoning and layout divided into four zones - preservation, partial preservation, conservation and use -, but close-to-nature channel revetment techniques, natural water-purification facilities, biotope diversification, and water-friendly recreation and circulation. Strategies pursued both renewal of stream naturalness and hydraulic stability of streamflow by minimizing transformation of natural channel micro-topography and biotope, and by reflecting natural traces of streambed structures such as revetment scour and sedimentation.

금오산도립공원의 금오산성 식생구조와 환경요인의 상관관계 분석 (Analysis on the Correlation Between Vegetation Structure and Environment Factors of the Geumosanseong-inside in Geumosan Provincial Park, in Korea)

  • This study was conducted to compare and analyze forest vegetation distributed in Geumosanseong-inside in Geumosan Provincial Park from 2017.10 to 2019.6. The vegetation structure was classified by the phytosociological method and TWINSPAN and the correlation between the community structure and the environmental factors was analyzed using DCCA ordination analydsis. The vegetation structures are Quercus mongolica, Fraxinus mandshurica, Q. acutissima, Larix leptolepis, Prunus padus and Morus alba community by the phytosociological method and 16 communities under TWINSPAN. The importance value of Q. mongolica(64.5) was the highest, and followed by F. mandshurica, L. leptolepis, Acer pseudosieboldianum, M. alba, P. padus, Q. acutissima, Sorbus alnifolia, P. serrulata var. pubescens, F. sieboldiana, Rhododendron schlippenbachii and Castanea crenata which is consistent with species having the dominance status by analysis of the vegetation structure. As the results of DBH analysis for taxon with high importance values, Q. mongolica and M. alba represented normal distribution, and thus, the dominance status of these species is likely to continue. L. leptolepis will maintain the dominance status due to high density of large individuals as compared with species above medium size. However, it will decrease because of high mortality after increase in age class. F. mandshurica and P. padus continue to show dominance status due to high density of young individuals as compared with species above medium size. Q. acutissima have high density of individuals above intermediate size and low density of young individuals, and thus, will maintain the dominance status. A. pseudosieboldianum, F. sieboldiana and R.schlippenbachii which are arborescent will present continuously high dominance status because of high density of young individuals. Soil analysis shows that whereas pH, Ca2+ and Mg2+ in the research area were lower than the average values of overall forest soil and O.M, T-N, C.E.C and P2O5 were higher. We expected that these results were due to agricultures until 50 years ago in Geumosanseong-inside. As a result of DCCA ordination analysis using eleven environmental factors and communities classified by the phytosociological method analysis showed that Q. mongolica was distributed in the environment with higher elevation and O.M and steep slope, and lower P2O5, Mg2+ and Ca2+. In contrast to F. mandshurica, Q. acutissima was distributed in higher K+ and lower pH. L. leptolepsis was distributed in various environment.

한라산 구상나무림의 식생구조와 분포 특성 (Vegetation Structure and Distributional Characteristics of Abies koreana Forests in Mt. Halla)

  • The purpose of the present study was to analyze the vegetation structure and distributional characteristics of Abies koreana forests in Mt. Halla, and to provide basicdata for an ecological study on Abies koreana in Mt. Halla. The results of the analysis showed that the mean importance percentage(M.I.P,) of Abies koreana in the Youngsil and Bangaeoreum and the Azalea field were 28.3%, 23.6%, and 46.4%, respectively. The ratios of DBH (diameter at breast height) to height were similar in all region, except in the Azalea field, where Abies koreana of various ages, both young and old, were found. The species diversity (H) of the upper and lower layers in the Youngsil and Bangaeoreum and in the Azalea field were 0.625 and 0.810, 0.731 and 0.848, and 0.342 and 0.757, respectively. A total of 52 community were distributed at locations higher than 1,300m above sea level. The proportions of each community in the whole Abies koreana forest were 56.5%(Azalea field), 11.0% (Youngsil trail at 1,550-1,650 m above sea level), and 8.1%(Janggumok and Kundurewat region). The total area of the Abies koreana forest was calculated to be 795.3ha by combining all the areas of each community. An Abies koreana forest with the largest area was found at locations 1,500-1,600 m above sea level, taking up 38.8% of the total Abies koreana forest area. For the slopes of the distributional area of Abies koreana, 46.1%(highest proportion) of the total area was $10\sim25^{\circ}$, and for the azimuth of the distributional area, 17.4%(the highest proportion) of the total area was $0-45^{\circ}$. The vegetation structure showed large differences between areas. It was found, however, that the distribution was mostly in the areas with a relatively gentle slope. It is suggested that research be done to forecast the possible changes in the differences in the vegetation structures between different areas caused by climate changes. In addition, there is a need to monitor the Abies koreana and alpine plants in the subalpine zones of Mt. Halla, which are sensitive to climate change, to obtain the basic data that are necessary for the protection and maintenance of the ecosystem.

인접(隣接) 임분(林分)의 종류(種類), 계층구조(階層構造) 및 식생단위(植生單位)에 따른 아까시나무의 이입(移入)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (The Study on the Invasion of Robinia pseudoacacia into Adjacent Forest Stand according to Forest Types, Stand Structures and Vegetation Units)

  • 아까시나무가 인접 임분의 종류와 계층구조 그리고 식생단위에 따른 이입 정도를 분석하였던 바 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있었다. 1) 인접 임분의 종류에 관계없이 전 방위로 아까시나무가 이입하고 있었다. 그러나 계층구조가 잘 발달된 임분에는 이입하기 어려우나 임분이 소개되었거나 아까시나무가 재해를 입었을 경우에는 인접 임분 내에 빠르게 이입할 것으로 예측되었다. 2) 아까시나무는 인접 임분의 식생단위에 관계없이 전 방위로 이입하고 있으나, 식생단위 간에 차이가 있었다. 갈참나무군락과 졸참나무군락 내에서는 아까시나무의 우점도가 +~2로서 낮게 나타났으며, 소나무군락, 리기다소나무군락, 굴참나무군락 및 상수리나무군락에서는 아까시나무의 우정도가 1~4로서 높게 나타나는 경향이 있었다. 소나무군락 내의 3개 식생단위 중에서는 산박하소군(I-A-1)에서 아까시나무의 우점도가 + ~2로서 가장 낮게 출현하였다.
