Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method for Photovoltaic (PV) system is implemented in PV inveter and it generate the maximum electric power from PV cell. MPPT method has been studied to have high efficiency and high tracking speed. However, these studies are basically focused on the performance under fixed irradiance condition. Based on the typical Perturbation and Observation (P&O) method, this paper presents the research results on modified P&O method to have a better performance under varying irradiance condition. The modified P&O method can have a better performance under varying irradiance condition because the additional measurements during the MPPT control period are conducted. The proposed MPPT method is verified by using 250kW PV inverter under linearly varying irradiance condition according to EN 50530.

Photovoltaic (PV) modules output changes noticeable with variations in temperature and irradiance. In general it is has been shown that a $1^{\circ}C$ increase in temperature results in a 0.5% drop in output. In this paper, seven PV module types are analyzed for variation in temperature and irradiance, and the resulting output characteristics examined. The 7 modules types utilized are as follows; 3 poly crystalline modules, 2 single crystalline modules, 1 back contact single crystalline module and 1 HIT module. 3 groups of experiments are then conducted on the modules; tests with varying irradiance values, tests with module temperature varying under $25^{\circ}C$ and tests with module temperature varying over $25^{\circ}C$. The experiments results show that as temperature rises the follow is observed; Pmax decreases by 0.6%, Voc decreases by about 0.4%, and Isc increasing by between 0.03%${\sim}$0.08%. In addition, an irradiance decrease of 100 w/m2 translates into a 10% drop in Pmax.
This paper presents analysis of temperature and light intensity characteristics of PV modules with solar cell type. Taking the effect of sunlight irradiance on the cell temperature, the first experiment takes ambient temperature as reference input and uses the solar insolation as a unique varying parameter. Then taking the effect of the cell temperature on sunlight irradiance, the second experiment takes 1000W/$m^2$ as reference input and uses the cell temperature as a unique varying parameter. As a result, varying sunlight irradiance, the Cell-Type with the smallest change in output is HIT and the Cell-Type with the biggest change in output is a-Si. Varying the cell temperature, the Cell-Type with the smallest change in output is a-Si and the Cell-Type with the biggest change in output is Single-Si. And considering both temperature and light intensity characteristics, the Cell-Type with the smallest change in output is HIT.
The MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) techniques are employed in photovoltaic (PV) systems to maximize the PV array output power which depends on solar irradiance and temperature. The dynamic MPPT performance under varying irradiance conditions affects the impact on overall PV system performance. This paper presents the improved MPPT algorithm by the simulation comparison with other algorithms. The simulation models are made by the Matlab & Simulink. The result of simulation, the dynamic MPPT efficiency of proposed algorithm is higher than the other algorithms.

The effects of $CO_2$ concentration, nutrient levels, and irradiance on the growth of germlings and juveniles, and on the photosynthesis of adults were examined in a green tide alga, Ulva australis. We used a factorial experimental design with two $CO_2$ concentrations (380 and 750 ppm), two nutrient levels (control and PES medium), and two irradiance levels (50 and $100{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$). Germlings grew best ($664.15{\pm}61.45{\mu}m$ in length) under conditions of 750 ppm, PES, and $100{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ after 10 days in culture. Relative growth rates (RGR) of the juveniles were greatest (4.41% $day^{-1}$) under conditions of 750 ppm, PES, and $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ after 5 days in culture. Photosynthetic efficiency ($F_v/F_m$) of the adult discs was $0.73{\pm}0.05$ before the experiment and reached a maximum ($0.83{\pm}0.01$) under conditions of 750 ppm, control, and $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ after 5 days in culture. Growth (germlings and juveniles) and photosynthesis (adult discs) of Ulva australis increased when $CO_2$ levels were 750 ppm. Additionally, the optimal irradiance for growth and photosynthesis differed among stages, wherein germlings grew best at $100{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$, juveniles grew best at $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$, and adults photosynthesized most at $50{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$. The performance of Ulva australis at all examined life stages was enhanced under the PES nutrient treatment. In conclusion, the physiological responses of U. australis to varying $CO_2$, nutrient, and irradiance levels differed slightly among life stages. However, growth and photosynthesis always increased with elevated $CO_2$ and nutrient concentrations. These results indicate that U. australis green tide blooms might occur more frequently in coastal areas if $CO_2$ and nutrient concentrations increase.
In this paper, a system for the precise detection of arcs is proposed for a rigid catenary using a spectrometer. For this purpose, a miniature rigid catenary contact-loss simulator was used. Experiments were performed by varying the amplitude of the excitation frequency with which a real arc can occur using a simulator in the range of 5 to 15 mm. The range of the radiated wavelength of the copper, which is a material in the rigid catenary, and the irradiance were measured using a spectrometer according to the generated contact loss. In addition, the amount was monitored over time and its characteristics were analyzed. The voltage and current of the load were analyzed when the arc occurred due to contact loss. The analytical results will be applied to detect rigid catenary arcs and used as a monitoring system for real vehicles developed in the future. This will prevent abrasion and disconnection in rigid catenary systems.
Accurate current-voltage modeling of solar cell systems plays an important role in power prediction. Solar cells have nonlinear characteristics that are sensitive to environmental conditions such as temperature and irradiance. In this paper, the output characteristics of photovoltaic module are accurately predicted by combining the artificial neural network and physical model. In order to estimate the performance of PV module under varying environments, the artificial neural network model is trained with randomly generated temperature and irradiance data. With the use of proposed model, the current-voltage and power-voltage characteristics under real environments can be predicted with high accuracy.

Thermal reactions by infrared radiation brings about physical damage by temperature rise process or temperature drop process of the material. In this study, a measuring system was set up to measure the temperature rise of each sample by infrared radiation from light source. And the temperature rise of the samples and amount of infrared radiation by various light source were measured with varying irradiance. On the basis of the result from the test, we analyzed a functional relation between infrared and infrared radiation.
Gloiopeltis tenax is one of the most economically useful species in China and Japan that has been applied to glue and food since ancient times. The material used in the experiment was a large quantity of basal crusts obtained from the culture of tetraspores that were released from the mature tetrasporophytes collected at Gyeokpori, Byeonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do in Korea. The basal crusts were cut into quadrisect under a dissecting microscope so as to monitor the process of regeneration and growth. The cut crusts were cultured under varying conditions, where the photoperiod was 16:8 h L:D; the temperature range was 10, 15, 20, and 25℃; the irradiance range was 30 and 85 µmol photons m-2s-1. The quadrisect basal crusts grew to an oval shape, then formed a vertical axis of cylindrical shape. The maximum growth of basal crusts was 9.61±3.59 mm2 under the condition of 15℃ temperature and 85 µmol photons m-2s-1 irradiance, after 12-weeks culture. The mean relative growth rate after 12-weeks culture showed the maximum rate of 5.15±0.80 %day-1 at 15℃ and the minimum growth rate was 3.15±0.94 %day-1 at 10℃, with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). In conclusion, it has shown the possibility that growth of basal crusts of G. tenax is one of the good farming method of potential alga.

Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and battery charging control are two important functions for a solar battery charger. The former improves utilization of the available solar energy, while the latter ensures a prolonged battery life. Nevertheless, complete implementation of both functions can be complex and costly, especially for low voltage application such as standalone street lamps. In this paper, the operation of a solar battery charger for standalone street light systems is investigated. Using only one voltage sensor, the solar charger is able to operate in both MPPT and constant voltage (CV) charging mode, hence providing high performance at a low cost. Using a lab prototype and a solar simulator, the operation of the charger system is demonstrated and its performance under varying irradiance is validated.
