AC servo motor drives, Fara DS series, proposed in this paper can be effectively used in robots, CNC machine tools, and FA system with AC servo motors as actuators. The inverter of the AC servo drive consists of IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) which have high switching frequency. Noises and vibrations generated in variable speed control of AC servo motors can be greatly reduced due to their high switching frequencies. In the developed servo drive, maximum torque is always generated in the whole speed range by compensating phase shift, which results from the nonlinearies of the AC servo motor during abrupt acceleration and deceleration. Abundant protection functions are provided to prevent abnormal state of the servo motor, and furthermore diverse user options are considered provided for the effective application. The proposed AC servo motor drive is designed to minimize velocity variation with respect to external load, supply voltage, environmental temperature, and humidity, so can be widely used in the fields of factory automation including robots and CNC msachine tools.

In this paper, an energy regeneration algorithm is proposed to make the maximum use of the regenerative braking energy for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) equipped with a continuous variable transmission(CVT). The regenerative algorithm is developed by considering the battery state of charge(SOC), vehicle velocity and motor capacity. The hydraulic module consists of a reducing valve and a power unit to supply the front wheel brake pressure according to the control algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) is performed. In the HILS system, the brake system consists of four wheel brakes and the hydraulic module. Dynamic characteristics of the HEV are simulated using an HEV simulator. In the HEV simulator, each element of the HEV powertrain such as internal combustion engine, motor, battery and CVT is modelled using MATLAB/$Simulink^{(R)}$. In the HILS, a driver operates the brake pedal with his or her foot while the vehicle speed is displayed on the monitor in real time. It is found from the HILS that the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module suggested in this paper provide a satisfactory braking performance in tracking the driving schedule and maintaining the battery state of charge.

Recent power electronics and variable-frequency motor drive technologies have been applied to air conditioners to improve efficiency and power density. However, the mechanical vibrations and acoustic noise resulting from the compressor still remain as a serious problem. This paper presents the development and implementation of an online disturbance state-filter for the suppression of multiple unknown and time-varying vibrations of air conditioning systems. The proposed design has a form of the state-filter based on a Luenburger-style closed-loop speed observer. An active vibration decoupling strategy with an estimated disturbance is provided, which manipulates a motor torque command. Since the proposed estimation does not require any additional transducers or hardware for obtaining real-time information upon disturbances, it is suitable for retrofitting industrial air conditioners.

We have developed ideal products that need low power by utilizing astable multivibraters since we are in need of technology that can be adaptable to any environments anytime because tons of thousands of electric products and IT products need to be operated by low power DC motors. Since motors generally use much electricity in an initial stage of operation, we have testified and proved the technology that can be furnished with any kinds of motors including those of AC and DC by loading them with on-off systems with electric pulse with operating methodology that has realized low-electrical operation when normally operated.
In this study, a neuro-fuzzy controller based on the characteristics of fuzzy controlling and structure of artificial neural networks(ANN). This neuro-fuzzy controller has each advantage from fuzzy and ANN, respectively. Plus, it can handle their own shortcomings and parameters in the controller can be tuned by on-line. To verify the proposed controller, it has applied to the AC servo motor which is popular item in robot control field. General PID and fuzzy controller are also applied to the same motor so stability and good characteristic of the proposed controller are compared and proved. Especially, the experiment for variable load is investigated and performance result is proved also.

Among the variable-speed AC motor drive systems, the static slip power recovery system has been widely adopted in large power drives because a high efficiency drive can be obtained by recovering the slip power to the AC line. Although many improvements have been made in this system, several problems also remain such as the need of transformer in inverter AC side, which results in limiting speed control range and increasing the losses, production of reactive power by the control of inverter firing angle, harmonics in line currents, and so on. This paper presents the novel high performance slip power recovery system using the boost converter and small size filter in the rotor circuit, which recovers slip power of a wound rotor induction machine to AC supply efficiently with the aid of the boost converter, in which most of the problems in conventional system can be solved. The speed can be controlled by the duty ratio of the converter switch, not by inverter firing angle. As a results, the proposed system can operate in high power factor and the harmonic currents caused by the inverter and rectifier can be considerably suppressed. The validity of the proposed system verified by demonstrating the good agreement in the simulation and experimental results.
This paper describes the implementation of the vector control schemes for a variable-speed 131kW PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) in super-high speed application. The vector control with synchronous reference frame current regulator has been implemented with the challenging requirements such as the extremely low stator inductance$(28^{\mu}H)$, the high dc link voltage(600V) and the high excitation frequency(1.2kHz). Because the conventional position sensor is not reliable in super-high speed, a vector control scheme without any position sensor has been proposed. The proposed sensorless algorithm is implemented by processing the output voltage of the PI current regulator, and hence the structure is simple and the estimated speed is robust to the measurement noise. The experimental system has been built and the proposed control has been implemented and evaluated. The test result, up to the speed of 60,000 r/min, shows the validity of the proposed control.

SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) drives require the accurate position information of the rotor. These informations are generally provided by a tacho generator or digital shaft-position encoder These speed sensors lower the system reliability and require special attention to noise. This paper describes a new approach to estimating SRM speed from measured terminal voltages and currents for speed sensorless control. The described method is based on the sliding mode observer. The rotor speed and position observers are estimated by the adaptation law using the real and estimated currents. However, the conventional adaptive sliding mode observer based on the variable structure control theory has some disadvantages that the estimated values including the high-frequency chattering and the steady state error generated due to the infinite feedback gain chosen and the discontinuous control input. To reduce the chattering and steady state error, an integrator is also inserted in the sliding mode observer strategy. The described adaptive sliding mode observer decreases the vibration to the switching hyper-plane of the sliding mode by adding integrator. The described methodology incorporates the Lyapunov algorithm to drive the rotor speed and the stator resistance such that it can overcome the problem of sensitivity in the face of SRM parameter variation. Also, without any mechanical information. The rotor speed of SRM is obtained form adaptive scheme. The described method is verified through the simulation and experiment.

In this paper, we propose a fuzzy PID controller of new method. There are two problems in absolute digital PID controller. First, much calculation time need for obtain the sum of data at each period. Second, this is problem need much memory because to storage every data at the before period. We use the speed type PID digital controller to improvement such problems. In the propose controller doesn't use without adjustment the crisp output error and we doesn't use nile tables in the fuzzy inference process at the forward stage fuzzifier. We inference output member ship function by using the relation and range of two variable of PID gain parameters. We can obtained desired results through the simulation and a experiment of the hydraulic servo motor control system.

IGBT inverters have switching rise times of 0.2-2 $\mu$ sec, and have been believed to cause insulation stresses and premature motor failures. Inverter driven induction motors with high speed switching and advanced PWM techniques are widely used for variable speed applications. Recently, the insulation failures of stator winding have attracted many concerns due to high dv/dt of IGBT PWM inverter output. In this paper, the detailed insulation test results of 19 low-voltage induction motors are presented. Different types of insulation techniques are applied to 19 motors. The insulation characteristics are analyzed with partial discharge, discharge inception voltage, and dissipation factor tests. Also, breakdown tests by high voltage pulses are performed, and the corresponding breakdown voltages are obtained.
