  • Objective: The aim was to evaluate backgrounding beef steers on oat + ryegrass pastures mixed with vetch and/or using energy supplementation. Methods: A randomized block design with three treatments and three replications was used. The treatments were: grass + supplement (oat + ryegrass + supplementation), legume + supplement (oat + ryegrass + vetch + supplementation) and grass + legume (oat + ryegrass + vetch). A continuous grazing system with a variable stocking rate was used. Twenty-seven intact crossbred steers (1/4 Marchigiana, 1/4 Aberdeen Angus and 2/4 Nellore) aged 7 months old and average weight of 190 kg were used. Steers were supplemented at 1% of the body weight of ground corn. The experiment lasted 84 days, between May and August 2014. Behavioral assessments were performed two times per experimental period, for 24 hours. Results: The forage mass was different between treatments, being greater for steers fed without legume. The accumulation rate, forage allowance, and stocking rate did not differ between treatments due to the adequate adjustment of forage allowance. The final weight of animals, as well as the dry matter intake (kg/d), did not differ between treatments. However, forage intake was higher for non-supplemented animals in relation to supplemented steers. Supplement intake did not alter the total digestible nutrient intake due to pasture quality. Animals fed grass + supplement had higher live weight gain per area than those fed grass + legume. Animals without supplementation spent more time in grazing. Conclusion: Feeding behavior was not altered by mixing with vetch or supplementation. Non-supplemented animals started the grazing peak earlier and spent more time in grazing than those supplemented; however, the average daily gain was similar between treatments. The live weight gain per hectare was 47% higher in pastures in which the animals received supplementation compared with those mixed with vetch, a consequence of the substitutive effect.

  • Recently, with the development of deep learning technology, researches to apply a deep learning algorithm to analyze unstructured data such as text and images are being actively conducted. Text classification has been studied for a long time in academia and industry, and various attempts are being performed to utilize data characteristics to improve classification performance. In particular, a hierarchical relationship of labels has been utilized for hierarchical classification. However, the top-down approach mainly used for hierarchical classification has a limitation that misclassification at a higher level blocks the opportunity for correct classification at a lower level. Therefore, in this study, we propose a methodology for classifying hierarchical data using the autoencoder-based deeply supervised network that high-level classification does not block the low-level classification while considering the hierarchical relationship of labels. The proposed methodology adds a main classifier that predicts a low-level label to the autoencoder's latent variable and an auxiliary classifier that predicts a high-level label to the hidden layer of the autoencoder. As a result of experiments on 22,512 academic papers to evaluate the performance of the proposed methodology, it was confirmed that the proposed model showed superior classification accuracy and F1-score compared to the traditional supervised autoencoder and DNN model.

  • In this study, we want to verify the factors that affect the intention to switch to a supply chain management information system applied with blockchain. To this end, variable selection and research model were constructed through the review of previous studies, and empirical analysis was conducted using the TOE framework and PPM model. The effects of Push and Pull factors on the intention to switch to the block chain system and the moderating effect through the switching cost which is a Mooring factor, were verified. The hypothesis was verified using a structural equation model using a sample of 320 response data by conducting a questionnaire survey on small and medium-sized enterprises located in Korea. As a result of the study, social influence, which is a push factor, and management's will to innovate, which is a Pull factor, had a significant effect on switching intention. And the moderating effect between the groups with high and low switching cost recognition was confirmed. This study is significant in that it presents the concept and research direction of SCBM (supply chain & blockchain management) that can enhance the competitiveness of a company through the implementation of a blockchain-based supply chain management information system.

  • All highway toll gates in Korea use low-speed WIM(Weight-In-Motion) to block overloaded cargo vehicles from entering the main highway, but some cargo vehicle owners are illegally modifying vehicles to operate variable axles and evading crackdowns by manipulating the axles. In previous studies detect all tires of a running vehicle were detected to determine whether there is axle manipulation. However, because the vehicle entry area at the highway toll gate checkpoint is very narrow, there is a problem that it is realistically difficult to film all tires of the entering vehicle in one video frame. In this paper, we proposed a system that can determine whether the axle is being operated through changes in the height of the vehicle's cargo box rather than by detecting tires. To detect changes in the height of a cargo box, we propose a method to extract the representative line of the cargo box using Hough transform and then measure the change in height of the representative line to detect the change in height of the cargo box. In addition, we propose a method to detect changes in the vertical height of a cargo box by accumulating motion vectors of pixels within a certain area of the image using optical flow. And the two methods were compared and their advantages and disadvantages were analyzed and presented.

  • Background and Objectives: Atrial tachycardias (ATs) from noncoronary aortic cusp (NCC) uncovered after radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) are rarely reported. This study was conducted to investigate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of NCC ATs detected during AF ablation and compare their characteristics with de novo NCC ATs without AF. Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent radiofrequency catheter ablation for AF were reviewed from the multicenter AF ablation registry of 11 tertiary hospitals. The clinical and electrophysiological characteristics of NCC AT newly detected during AF ablation were compared with its comparators (de novo NCC AT ablation cases without AF). Results: Among 10,178 AF cases, including 1,301 redo ablation cases, 8 (0.08%) NCC AT cases were discovered after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI; 0.07% in first ablation and 0.15% in redo ablation cases). All ATs were reproducibly inducible spontaneously or with programmed atrial stimulation without isoproterenol infusion. The P-wave morphological features of tachycardia were variable depending on the case, and most cases exhibited 1:1 atrioventricular conduction. AF recurrence rate after PVI and NCC AT successful ablation was 12.5% (1 of 8). Tachycardia cycle length was shorter than that of 17 de novo ATs from NCC (303 versus 378, p=0.012). No AV block occurred during and after successful AT ablation. Conclusions: Uncommon NCC ATs (0.08% in AF ablation cases) uncovered after PVI, showing different characteristics compared to de-novo NCC ATs, should be suspected irrespective of P-wave morphologies when AT shows broad propagation from the anterior interatrial septum.

  • A smart window based on a retarder can transmit or block polarized lights by overlapping two smart windows. In the study, tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of blocking solar heat using smart windows with a size of 300×300 mm2. Solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) values were derived through simulation using transmission and reflectance data of the smart windows. As a result of the simulation, it showed that SGHC is effective in blocking solar heat by obtaining values of 0.722 and 0.615 in transmission and blocking mode of smart windows, respectively. The test boxes were fabricated in order to verify the effect of suppressing temperature rise when applying smart windows, the inside temperature in test boxes, which are installed bare glass (reference) and two smart windows with transmission and blocking mode, were measured at 10 minutes-interval for 7 days. As of 1 p.m., the inside temperature of the test boxes with the smart windows applied showed lower temperature compared to the reference. In particular, on the day when the temperature of reference box was the highest at 66.1℃, the temperature of the test box with the smart window applied showed 61.0℃, which was lowered by 5.1℃.

  • The p16 protein is a cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor that inhibits cell cycle progression from $G_1$ phase to S phase in cell cycle. Many p16 gene mutations have been noted in many cancer-cell lines and in some primary cancers, and alterations of p16 gene function by DNA methylation have been noticed in various kinds of cancer tissues and cell-lines. There have been a large body of literature has accumulated indicating that abnormal patterns of DNA methylation (both hypomethylation and hypermethylation) occur in a wide variety of human neoplasma and that these aberrations of DNA methylation may play an important epigenetic role in the development and progression of neoplasia. DNA methylation is a part of the inheritable epigenetic system that influences expression or silencing of genes necessary for normal differentiation and proliferation. Gene activity may be silenced by methylation of up steream regulatory regions. Reactivation is associated with demethylation. Although evidence or a high incidence of p16 alterations in a variety of cell lines and primary tumors has been reported, that has been contested by other investigators. The precise mechanisms by which abnormal methylation might contribute to carcinogenesis are still not fully elucidated, but conceivably could involve the modulation of oncogene and other important regulatory gene expression, in addition to creating areas of genetic instability, thus predisposing to mutational events causing neoplasia. There have been many variable results of studies of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC). This investigation was studied on 13 primary HNSCC for p16 gene status by protein expression in immunohistochemistry, and DNA genetic/epigenetic analyzed to determine the incidence, the mechanisms, and the potential biological significance of its Inactivation. As methylation detection method of p16 gene, the methylation specific PCR(MSP) is sensitive and specific for methylation of any block of CpG sites in a CpG islands using bisulfite-modified DNA. The genomic DNA is modified by treatment with sodium bisulfate, which converts all unmethylated cytosines to uracil(thymidine). The primers designed for MSP were chosen for regions containing frequent cytosines (to distinguish unmodified from modified DNA), and CpG pairs near the 5' end of the primers (to provide maximal discrimination in the PCR between methylated and unmethylated DNA). The two strands of DNA are no longer complementary after bisulfite treatment, primers can be designed for either modified strand. In this study, 13 paraffin embedded block tissues were used, so the fragment of DNA to be amplified was intentionally small, to allow the assessment of methylation pattern in a limited region and to facilitate the application of this technique to samlples. In this 13 primary HNSCC tissues, there was no methylation of p16 promoter gene (detected by MSP and automatic sequencing). The p16 protein-specific immunohistochemical staining was performed on 13 paraffin embedded primary HNSCC tissue samples. Twelve cases among the 13 showed altered expression of p16 proteins (negative expression). In this study, The author suggested that low expression of p16 protein may play an important role in human HNSCC, and this study suggested that many kinds of genetic mechanisms including DNA methylation may play the role in carcinogenesis.

  • The roles of ${\beta}-adrenoceptor$ were well known in hyperthyroidal heart, but not with ${\alpha}-adrenoceptor$. So we studied the effects of phenylephrine on membrane potential, intracellular sodium activity ($a^{i}_{Na}$), twitch force, and intracellular pH ($pH_i$) by continuous intracellular recordings with ion-selective and conventional microelectrodes in the papillary muscles of hyperthyroid guinea pig heart. ${\alpha}_1-adrenoceptor$ stimulation by phenylephrine (10^{-5}\;or\;3{\times}10^{-5}M$) produced the following changes: variable changes in action potential duration, a hyperpolarization ($1.5{\pm}0.1mM$) of the diastolic membrane potential, an increase in $a^{i}_{Na}\;(0.4{\pm}0.15mM)$, a stronger positive inotropic effect ($220{\pm}15%$), an increase in $pH_i\;(0.06{\pm}0.002\;unit)$. These changes were flocked by prazosin and atenolol. This indicated that the changes in membrane potential, $a^{i}_{Na}$ twitch force, and $pH_i$ are mediated by a stimulation of the ${\alpha}_1-adrenoceptor$. Ethylisopropylamiloride ($10^{-5}$) also blocked the increase in $a^{i}_{Na}$ and twitch force. On the other hand, strophanthidin, tetrodotoxin, $Cs^+$ or verapamil did not block the increase in $a^{i}_{Na}$ and twitch force. Thus, it was suggested that ${\alpha}_1-adrenoceptor$ stimulation increased $a^{i}_{Na}\;and\;pH_i$ by stimulation of $Na^{+}-H^{+}$ exchange, thereby allowing intracellular alkalinization and $a^{i}_{Na}$ increase. These results were very different from euthyroidal heart which showed ${\alpha}_1-adrenoceptor$-induced decrease in $a^{i}_{Na}$ and initial negative inotropic effect. From the above results, it was concluded that ${\alpha}_1-adrenoceptor$ had a important role in hyperthy-roidal heart.

  • Purpose : The determination of electron beam output factor was investigated from individual applicator for various energy of ML-15MDX linear accelerator. The output factor of electron beam was extended from square to rectangular field in individual applicator size through with a least-square fit to a polynomial expression. Materials : In this experiments. the measurement of output was obtained from 2${\times}$cm$^2$ to 20${\times}$20cm$^2$ of field size in different applicator size for 4 to 15 MaV electron beam energy. The output factor was defined as the ratio of maximum dose output on the central axis of the field of individual applicator size to that of a given field size. Applicator factors were derived from comparing with the output dose of reference field size 10${\times}$10cm$^2$. The thickness of block was specially designed as 10mm in thickness of Lipowitz metal for field shaping in all electron energy. Two types of output curves are included as output factors versus side of square fields and that of variable side length for X and Y in one-dimensional to compare the expected values to that of experiments. Results : Expected output factors of rectangular which was derived from that of square fields in individual applicator size from 2${\times}$2cm$^2$ to 20${\times}$20cm$^2$ in different electron energy was very closed to that of experimental measurements within 2% uncertainty. However 1D method showed a 3% discrepancy in small rectangular field for low energy electron beam. Conclusion : Emperical non-linear polynomial regressions of square root and 1D method were performed to determin the output factor in various field size and electron energy. The expected output of electron beam of square root method for square field and 1D method for rectangular field were very closed to that of measurement in all selected electron beam energy.

  • Purpose : Three dimensional conformal radiotherapy planning is being used widely for the treatment of patients with brain tumor. However, it takes much time to develop an optimal treatment plan, therefore, it is difficult to apply this technique to all patients. To increase the efficiency of this technique, we need to develop standard radiotherapy plant for each site of the brain. Therefore we developed several 3 dimensional conformal radiotherapy plans (3D plans) for tumors at each site of brain, compared them with each other, and with 2 dimensional radiotherapy plans. Finally model plans for each site of the brain were decide. Materials and Methods : Imaginary tumors, with sizes commonly observed in the clinic, were designed for each site of the brain and drawn on CT images. The planning target volumes (PTVs) were as follows; temporal $tumor-5.7\times8.2\times7.6\;cm$, suprasellar $tumor-3\times4\times4.1\;cm$, thalamic $tumor-3.1\times5.9\times3.7\;cm$, frontoparietal $tumor-5.5\times7\times5.5\;cm$, and occipitoparietal $tumor-5\times5.5\times5\;cm$. Plans using paralled opposed 2 portals and/or 3 portals including fronto-vertex and 2 lateral fields were developed manually as the conventional 2D plans, and 3D noncoplanar conformal plans were developed using beam's eye view and the automatic block drawing tool. Total tumor dose was 54 Gy for a suprasellar tumor, 59.4 Gy and 72 Gy for the other tumors. All dose plans (including 2D plans) were calculated using 3D plan software. Developed plans were compared with each other using dose-volume histograms (DVH), normal tissue complication probabilities (NTCP) and variable dose statistic values (minimum, maximum and mean dose, D5, V83, V85 and V95). Finally a best radiotherapy plan for each site of brain was selected. Results : 1) Temporal tumor; NTCPs and DVHs of the normal tissue of all 3D plans were superior to 2D plans and this trend was more definite when total dose was escalated to 72 Gy (NTCPs of normal brain 2D $plans:27\%,\;8\%\rightarrow\;3D\;plans:1\%,\;1\%$). Various dose statistic values did not show any consistent trend. A 3D plan using 3 noncoplanar portals was selected as a model radiotherapy plan. 2) Suprasellar tumor; NTCPs of all 3D plans and 2D plans did not show significant difference because the total dose of this tumor was only 54 Gy. DVHs of normal brain and brainstem were significantly different for different plans. D5, V85, V95 and mean values showed some consistent trend that was compatible with DVH. All 3D plans were superior to 2D plans even when 3 portals (fronto-vertex and 2 lateral fields) were used for 2D plans. A 3D plan using 7 portals was worse than plans using fewer portals. A 3D plan using 5 noncoplanar portals was selected as a model plan. 3) Thalamic tumor; NTCPs of all 3D plans were lower than the 2D plans when the total dose was elevated to 72 Gy. DVHs of normal tissues showed similar results. V83, V85, V95 showed some consistent differences between plans but not between 3D plans. 3D plans using 5 noncoplanar portals were selected as a model plan. 4) Parietal (fronto- and occipito-) tumors; all NTCPs of the normal brain in 3D plans were lower than in 2D plans. DVH also showed the same results. V83, V85, V95 showed consistent trends with NTCP and DVH. 3D plans using 5 portals for frontoparietal tumor and 6 portals for occipitoparietal tumor were selected as model plans. Conclusion : NTCP and DVH showed reasonable differences between plans and were through to be useful for comparing plans. All 3D plans were superior to 2D plans. Best 3D plans were selected for tumors in each site of brain using NTCP, DVH and finally by the planner's decision.
